I’m gonna be her first and her last.
I’m bringing more than a big wallet to this small town.
I bought the local auto shop—lube jobs are on the house.
Until the heavenly slice of country pie that is Jeanie.
With her wide eyes and sugar sweet body, she’s a picture of innocence.
She says she needs my help with a ‘personal project’.
And I’m more than happy to oblige.
Provided I can keep her as*hole ex-boyfriend at arm’s length.
He wants to be first to pop her cherry.
But I don’t do second place.
Never have.
Never will.
It’s going to be perfect.
Just as long as she doesn't find out what I'm running from…

Featuring the eldest Beckett brother, Mason, from Long Game, Brute is a full-length, standalone bad boy romance with a happily ever after and no cheating. It includes bonus content for a limited time.

Mason Beckett needs a change, he is tired of representing clients who should not get off but do thanks to his talent as a lawyer. However, Mason hates it. Mason decides to move away and open a shop fixing and restoring cars, he knows people don't know his reputation and he is looking forward to it. What Mason doesn't expect is Jeanie who walks in his shop wanting to fix her Uncle's car. He doesn't expect to be attracted to her, nor that her fiery temper gets under his skin. When they come together they are electric but Masons past is not going away and he knows he needs to fix it before he can build anything with Jeannie.

Entertaining, I thought Jeannie was a bit belligerent at times but she softens as she gets to know Mason more. Mason is an intriguing character who I liked seeing where his story was going to go. Would check out more in this series.

Brute by Tegan Kade a brutish five-star read. This is a great stand-alone read from a great author. We have met the Beckett family before but they don’t get more than a couple of line mention in this book when discussing family, so you don’t need to have read the Long Game.
Mason Beckett is a man who has lost something about himself, he’s taking over the family firm to help his dad out after he gets detained. Once its back-running smooth, clearing the names of unscrupulous people with more money than morals. This makes Mason makes the decision to leave behind the life of lawyerdom and become a mechanic in a small town, following his heart and dreams. Making other people’s dreams come true.
One of those people is Jeanie and her Uncle Jerry the problem is Jeanine isn’t interested in more than getting the work done, and when they have a terrible first meeting, even getting the work done may be a problem.
Will they ever get the classic car done for Jerry? Or will they battle it out and not come out the other side.

This is not just a romance but a story of finding yourself and what/who matters most is your life. This is true for Mason, the eldest Beckett brother. He decides to give up his cushy New York criminal law partnership and make a change in his life. He moves to a small town, start5s a business and can finally breathe. But can he? Or will his past let him go? Then there is Jeanie. Truthfully, I wish Mason had a better Heroine. I know the author is trying to portray her a good and loving niece of her great uncle who helped raise her, but I mainly found her irritating, whiny, and sometimes a real jerk to Mason. True, that may change as the story progresses, but some times first impressions just won't change. If only I had liked the female protagonist more, this would have been a better read for me.

I do this often starting with the second book in the series. Hell sometimes I start with an even higher book. It only sucks when I like a book and I love this. I don't know if it was the warm tingles of a hot as Hades ex lawyer turned mechanic. Hell it could have been the sexual tension between this hot ass man and the strong leading lady. No matter... I find I will be seeking out the first ebook in this series which will lead to reading this one again before I can advance to the higher numbered e-books.

Brute by Teagan Kade is compelling, intense, emotional, with a great mix of angst, forgiveness, sexual tension, heartbreak, guilt, and love thrown in to keep you captivated and turning the pages to see how the story unfolds.

I liked this more than I thought I would, actually, so I rounded up from 3.5 stars to 4. With a self-aware yet cautious woman and a self-assured yet tortured man we have a great paring that bring love and healing to people who otherwise wouldn't have found it in such abundance.

Jeanie is caring for her great uncle and doing her best to just get by. Her past is full of abandonment and also love. She's had both so she straddles the line between reticent and friendly every day. With her life going the way it is she's not sure if she'll ever find someone who fits the list she created when she was younger. The list, however, is becoming a crutch. That list has kept her from finding a love that could last. This is both a blessing and a curse because when Mason rolls into town she doesn't have the jaded eyes that will let her accept what little Mason offers her. Well, the little he offers is only in reference to the future, the rest of what he could give her is quite the...endowment. A gift of passion and of what he's packin'.

Mason is a jaded lawyer who's determined to shed all of his snake skin and try on something else, the small-town mechanic. He's just getting set up and making his way in Silver Springs and then Jeanie walks into his shop. With her earnestness and rockin' body he becomes distracted and makes a huge blunder of a first meeting. The second meeting doesn't go much better. Over time, though, that huge wall he's put between him and any possible emotional entanglement slowly crumbles and he suddenly can't imagine what life would be like without the sweetness that Jeanie brings. He can't let himself accept it, though and is fast on the road to ruining what could be the best thing in his life.

Jeanie's ability to get upset then take a moment to breathe and think about the situation and then to come back and apologize, open her heart to be truly vulnerable, and admit Mason was right about some things shows humility and grace. Mason's ability to look back on his own life and make the big, hard decisions in order to make peace with his past and create the kind of future worthy of his potential and of Jeanie shows strength of character and emotional intelligence. Their road to happiness isn't easy with the past interfering on both sides but when they make it work it's full of heart, sweet confessions, passion, and forgiveness. They are a great pair, a wonderful partnership that heals all the broken pieces. I enjoyed reading their journey.

Read and willingly reviewed this ARC for the author.

Mason is a lawyer who has never lost a case but he is getting burned out getting guilty people off. He has felt if fell on him to help save his family law firm after his dad was arrested for shady practices. Now the firm is stable again and all Mason wants to do is get out of the city and the law practice. He moves to a small town and opens a garage. Jeanie is one of his first customers. Jeanie wants to repair her great uncle's classic car for his birthday since it is becoming clear he may not be around much longer. Mason gives her a quote that is far more than she is able to pay but feeling bad for her, he tries to offer her a deal. Jeanie assumes that the deal involves sexual favors and gets offended. She stays very angry at Mason until she hears her uncle has stage 4 cancer. Desperate to give him his wish, she offers to work for Mason in the garage taking care of his business and paperwork in return for the work on her car. Mason is very attracted to Jeanie even with her blowing hot and cold. The chemistry between the two is very hot and they have a passionate night together. Then a man from Mason's past turns up and threatens to reveal a mistake that Mason made when he was just a college student unless Mason defends his nephew.
This is a good story about a man who turned his back on what people expected him to do and did what made him happy. Mason made a big mistake but can he learn to get past it? I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

    Brute

Mason Beckett is an attorney, extremely successful, he’s never lost a case. He’s also very unhappy, he feels like he’s sold his soul. He’s driven by guilt over something that happened when he was in college and his father pressed every advantage to guilt him into following the family business which is why he’s an attorney. He’s been carrying the firm since his father went to prison for the usual crap. Lately he’s feeling more and more like he just wants to get away so when his fellow attorney urges him to follow his dream he decides to do it. He buys a shop in a small town and turns it into a garage. He’s good at fixing cars it was what he originally wanted to do and he trained at his grandfather’s knee. He is slowly building business when a lovely young woman comes to the shop to see about getting her uncle’s GTO refurbished as a birthday present. Her uncle (Jerry) isn’t doing well and she thinks this will cheer him up. After talking with Mason she’s upset to find out it’s going to cost way more than she thought. Mason tries to help her out by offering a solution that she takes outrage with because she thinks he’s suggesting she sleep with him and of course she’s a virgin. Well this is actually the beginning of an attraction that makes the whole book. It turns out to be a romantic story with a happy ending. It was a great read.
There are several more books at the end and they are all pretty good. It was well worth getting.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! What a great story. I l really enjoyed both characters in this book. Jeanie is a small town girl who is living and working in the town she has always adored. She is trying to care for her Uncle who is in poor health. She hasn't always had it easy. Her uncle and Aunt took her in and raised them as their own. Mason is a man who is beginning to feel unfulfilled in his life as a criminal defense attorney. He decides he wants an easier life for himself and has always enjoyed working on cars. He leaves his practice and opens up a garage in the town Jeanie lives in. The two do not hit it off as first. Both are guarded. Once they give into their attraction for one another the sparks fly. There are things in Mason's past that cause him to remain guarded though. Because of Jeanie's past she doesn't let people close and is also not willing to let Mason all the way in. Mason is being drawn back to his past by an old friend and starts to feel he is not the one for Jeanie. Will the tow find a way to knock down the walls each have and let the other in? Can they both admit to each other their true feelings? This was such a great read, well written and a definitely a hot and steamy read. One of my new favorites from Ms Kade!

Is it possible for a person to outgrow the past? Mason is a high powered lawyer with a 100% win record for his clients. However after his latest win, he begins to question his ethics which lead him to leaving NYC and his life to start up a car repair shop in a small town. Jeanie is a young woman with a lot on her shoulders. She lives with her uncle who is dealing with a life threatening illness. In order to surprise her uncle on his birthday, she asks Mason to fix up his precious GTO. The two get off on the wrong foot and the action picks up from there. The chemistry between the two is a slow simmer as there are a few miscommunications and preconceived notions on both parts. However Mason is harboring some huge secrets from his past that threaten to derail any type of relationship he would hope to have. Can he tell Jeanie the truth about his past? How will she react? This is one story that that puts the reader through his paces. You can’t help but feel for Jeanie and her situation while simultaneously wanting to kick Mason in the rear at times for what he is putting her through. Ms. Kade just keeps it coming with her compelling stories and this is one to add to your list.
I volunteered to read an arc for a review.

I enjoyed this small town romance, it was a about a new comer in town opening up a automotive shop. Mason Beckett is a ruthless lawyer who is tired of living up to his fathers name and expectations ,so he leaves his job to open up a car shop in a little ol town. Jeanie is the towns sweetheart she works at the local dinner and never plans on leaving her hometown, she takes care of her very sick Uncle Jerry who is her only family, as a surprise and pep up she decides to have his Potonic GTO restored and goes to the new hottie mechanic for help. Jeanie and Mason work out a plan that has Jeanie working to help pay for repairs. These two end up clashing on everything. They decide to practice with each other since neither are good a relationships, and it is some combative steamy practice. Mason's old life comes calling and he has to go back to being a lawyer.
I really liked Jeanie and her attitude she was just thinking like every woman out there with her insecurities of change. Mason was a top notch guy who just needed someone to believe in him. I agreed to read this ARC to share my thoughts.

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** City boy meets country girl with a bit of an enemies to lovers sprinkling. We finally see the oldest Beckett brother! Mason is tired of being the brutal lawyer he was pressured to be by his father & has decided to follow what really makes him happy, which is fixing cars. Welcome to Silver Springs & enter the newest mechanic! Jeanie is waitress in the small town, working hard to help take care of her Uncle Jerry. Jeanie comes up with the idea of surprising her uncle by fixing up his beloved GTO for his birthday so she goes to the new mechanic in town. A misunderstanding ensues & blossoms "the hate" between the two. With Uncle Jerry rapidly declining though, Jeanie may not have a lot of time left for the surprise so she makes a deal with the devil, by working & organizing the shop for Mason. The attraction is palpable & soon the two give in to it, until Mason's past comes back to the forefront. Can Mason overcome his past & insecurities? Great read & characters, full of angst & emotion, especially loved the ending & epilogue! Would recommend!

    Well now!
Brute was quite the compelling thought provoking read! This passionate, intense romance with dark emotional twists had my blood pressure rising from the utter frustration Mason and Jeanie create holding back from each other, to the side that had me contemplating *what would I do in this situation*. Feeling as if I was volleying back and forth with my emotions right along with them. ( which I am still not sure I necessarily liked. ha!)
This emotional masterpiece was one sitting, cover to digital cover read for me.
Once I started reading the quick flowing storyline, with details that are intricately woven throughout, and its supremely titillating set for heartquake lines, Nothing else was getting done till I knew how these two broken souls from different places figured out their business!
What a unique, sexy, witty capture my attention read from Teagan Kade!
    4.5 Stars!

Mason is a lawyer for the elite, who is slowly but surely having the life drained from him, and his conscience makes him draw a line in the sand, so he gives up his life and moves to a small town to move on and follow his dream at being a mechanic and opening his own shop. Jeanie has grown up in a small town, and she has a past that is not the greatest. When Jeanie and Mason first meet the sparks fly, and their attraction is instant. When Mason’s past catches up with him hard decisions have to be made. Is this the end of their relationship? When secrets are exposed can Mason be forgiven? No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed!
This is a well written story which is emotional and heartfelt, and I was hooked from the very beginning. This is one of my favourite authors, and I highly recommend her work for all readers!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book!

I was actually wondering what had happened to this group of brothers with the crooked dad, and was glad for this book so I could find out what they'd been up to. However, if you didn't read "Long Game", don't worry; this book stands on its own. You won't feel lost reading it.

"Brute" tells the story of eldest Beckett brother, Mason, and his quest to rid himself of the demons of his past. Stuck in a life that is fast losing its attractiveness, he abandons it in favour of a more relaxed lifestyle out of the city. There he meets Jeanie, who, true to her name, seems to magically make the weight of his past disappear. The true test comes when his past comes knocking. Is Jeanie enough, or will he keep running?

This is a good book, with the right amount of drama and heat to make it a page-turner.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book, and recommend it.

OMG! LOVE IT!!! I just couldn't put this book down! Every chapter I wanted to see what happened next! I am so glad I started reading these books!!

I could read a lot more of Mason and Jeanie's story. I only wish we could have a little more of the story on why Mason choice Silver Springs to move to. This is the perfect story of Mason and Jeanie falling in love, except for the trouble of Mason's past. The fact that he can't get over what he did in the past is keeping him from having a happy future. I was just appalled when Mason decided to head back to NYC to help his "friend". But what Mason does in the end I believe is the best thing he could have done for himself and his future. Jeanie does have some trouble in forming a relationship also. In the end it all works out for the both of them.

  • Dawn Myers

I loved it! Jeanie is sassy, hard working and caring. Mason has many demons that he is trying to escape from. When these two come together there is fireworks for more than one reason. Jeanie and Mason made me laugh with their banter. I found both characters likable and very frustrating. In my opinion Teagan Kade wrote a good emotional roller coaster of a story. Mason's journey to regaining his integrity was refreshing. Brute kept me wondering what was going to happen. There was just enough suspense that kept me turning the pages. It's kind of a formula story which I was okay with. I enjoyed and was completely entertained. It's a quick read. If you are a Teagan Kade fan in my opinion I think you will like it. I received an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.

Mason is a lawyer who is tired of getting people out of trouble, since he usually represents the ones that deserve jail time. He's burnt out and wants a fresh start. His friend Selena suggests he get out and do something else. He's always loved working on classic cars, so he decides to open a shop in a middle of nowhere town.
Jeanie is a waitress with a sick uncle. She works as many shifts as she can, all while caring for Uncle Jerry. She wants to do something special for her uncle by getting his car fixed and meets the new shop owner Mason.
I highly recommend this book! It had a hot mechanic/ lawyer and some drama. I could barely put it down, so you probably won't want to either. I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review.
