Karo and Martin come together again to defend the grassroots democracy they are helping to build. The populist leader, Klaus Kaminsky, is poised to take power in East Germany. AS Kaminsky holds rallies across the country, the mood of the people of the GDR begins to change. The delicate balance of round tables and workers' councils are at stake, and there is a chance the GDR can be dragged back into the authoritarian rule of the past. Really liked this book, it is the best in this series

To my mind, the final in the trilogy did not deliver on promise of the previous books.
The end was twee and lacked any real depth. While I don't seek an absolute closure, the re-emergence of the Party and its organs (Stasi) left the series floundering.
