I'm very disappointed in this book because I expected better but it was such a letdown. Literally nothing happened in this book! Yes, there were few revelations that came out but that's just it! Coraline still cannot control her powers for shit, so many unnecessary scenes that didn't contribute to the plot, most of the scenes are of the characters spending time in confinement, there's barely any character development. It's just... disappointing.
I didn't even mind the reverse harem theme the author got going on in this. But I want development!!! -

Title: A Wicked Night
Series: Creatures of Darkness
Author: Kiersten Fay
Designation: Book Two of Series, Full-Length Novel, NOT A Standalone, Cliffhanger Ahead
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Four Sinfully Sexy Stars****
**Disclosure: The information in the blurb for A Wicked Hunger, the first book of this series, states the first three books of the Creatures of Darkness Series can be read in any order, but I strongly disagree. It is my opinion that none of the first three books should be considered a standalone. In order to understand and enjoy the story, they must be read in order. The first two books, A Wicked Hunger and A Wicked Night, end with obvious cliffhangers and the third, A Wicked Desire, concludes with a questionable happy for now. All three books feature Coraline Gordon/Conwell and have a common underlying conflict with various interconnected subplots, but each story focuses primarily on Cora and one of the three heroes.
I became a Kiersten Fay fan only a week ago after reading Keeping His Siren, the fourth book of the Creatures of Darkness Series. It was my first time reading her work but was so impressed, I decided to purchase the other three books and immediately dove in. Best decision ever! A Wicked Night is a riveting, imaginative, fast-paced, full-length paranormal saga filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, intriguing characters, steamy passion, and dreamy romance. The setting for the story is a somewhat dystopian future in which many modern conveniences, the internet, and technology like cell phones and computers are only available to the wealthy. It was caused by a century of wars between vampires and humans after vampires revealed themselves to the world. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives, primarily from the protagonists of each book. The dialogue is smart, witty, at times snarky and humorous, well executed and flows effortlessly. I love the premise for the story but without a doubt, my favorite component is the large cast of intriguing characters. They are captivating, sexy, well developed and engaging. This story has a complex plot that carries forward through all three books and includes several subplots featuring several of the secondary characters. I'm writing this review after having read all three books so I'm trying not to give any spoilers, but I feel compelled to say this could have easily been a five-star read but several of the plot threads were left unresolved and ignored. As I stated earlier, I've also read Book Four so I know they were NOT addressed at all so the author left me hanging. I must admit, it's a little disturbing but then again, she may have plans to address these issues in a future book. The jury is still out but I hope this is the case. I fell in love with the four protagonists of this story, and yes I said four. The first book features primarily Coraline and Mason, the second is mainly Coraline and Braydon, and the third, Coraline and Knox. You'll see all of them mentioned or popping up in all of the first three books along with a menagerie of other players who add dimension to the story. I was especially impressed with Cora in this story. Her growth was simply astounding, starting as meek and subservient as a mouse and eventually morphing into a lioness, willing to risk everything for those she loves. ANd FYI, she does love three men, and not just ordinary men but three very dominant and competitive vampires. Oh god, talk about sexy times! *swoon* The banter and foreplay was nothing short of exquisite!
Did I like this book? No, I loved it! WOuld I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. I will say that all three of the books were littered with misspelled words (and I'm not referring to regional language differences such as realize and realise), incorrect use of homonyms and homophones, missing letters in words, and missing prepositions. There were several times I had to stop and reread passages to understand what the author was trying to say, which can not only be very distracting but also interrupts the flow of the story, hence the four stars instead of five. Every single mistake could have been easily corrected with a simple proofread. There's no doubt Fay is a talented wordslinger and skilled wordsmith, but when I pay $5.99 to $7.99 for a book, I expect a certain level of quality and, unfortunately, Fay missed the mark. Nonetheless, I still very much enjoyed the story. I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader as my heart fluttered wildly in my chest. I simply couldn't stop reading. I read all three books in two days and wanted more! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! As soon as she releases the next book in this series, I'm all over it! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
No spoilers from me but I will say this... Lovely orphan heroine who lost her parents as a child, forcing her to live on the streets, all the while trying to remain invisible to the predators of the world, especially vampires, but failing miserably-Check! Three handsome and very dominant vampire males who, either by accident or unwilling force, become bonded to the same beautiful woman who just may not be entirely human-Check! Danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, malevolent enemies and evil machinations-In spades! Heated attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex, dreamy romance, and even a dash of humor-You bet! That and a whole lot more! -
Well. Book 2 in this series felt mostly like filler. The editing was atrocious. Whoever this author pays to edit her books did a shotty job at best. It was to the point of distraction. How does such a poorly edited book make it to the shelves ?
Anyway, if misspelled words and missing words don't bother you, you will find this book solid and enjoyable. Cora is your typical female romance heroine surrounded by big hot vampire guys.
I will definitely read on to book 3. I like the characters. And while my amusement with witches and vamps has died along with the paranormal book craze, these books are still fun and require little focus. -
In the words of the wise Geralt of Rivia: hmmm...
Writing style: This is my third book by Kiersten Fay so it's no surprise to me anymore how I love her writing style. I fly through her books like they're only 100 pages and I always crave more when I finish.
Characters: I love Knox, I always seem to like the badass brooding characters... He's just such an unapologetic asshole and I love him for it. Mace is okay I guess, a little stalkerish. Didn't see all that much of his personality in his book, he was just there and that was it. Cora is growing on me, I disliked her at first because she was just so meek and weak and ugh. In A Wicked Night she has shown she can be quite badass and might actually become an interesting character. Brayden was finally introduced after having been mentioned often in the first book, and idk what to think of him. He takes good care of Cora and he's super sweet to her, but I can't quite get a read on him... Maybe that's because most of his interactions in the book were with Cora.
Story: The story lacked something, I don't quite know what exactly, but something was missing. It was still interesting enough. Cora made A LOT of progress as a character and we got a better view at the threat they're dealing with. Some scenes were too long for my liking and others too short, which resulted in me being bored at times and other times I was just getting into it only for a scene to be cut off. Like I said, something was missing.
Cora's actions: Cora cheats on Mace with Brayden, feels a little guilty but not really... They're bonded after all and Cora had the right to sleep with everyone she has bonded, which would mean she has acces go Mace, Knox and Bray... Yeah no, not in my world. Cheating is cheating, definitely when Mace is dying from a curse and didn't know yet that she's bonded to Bray. This really has me furious.
If not for Fay's superb writing style I wouldn't have given this book 3 stars, but I still enjoyed it and it was truly a good story. Plenty of suspense and a strong storyline... So three stars from me for A Wicked Night. -
This book is the second part of Cora’s story and wouldn’t be a standalone book for someone who hasn’t read part 1. The story continues where part 1 ended, and there is a new main character brought in, who I found I might have even liked better than the rest seen so far. There aren’t a lot of steamy scenes in this one, but there is so much happening in this book (which isn’t difficult to keep up with), and Cora’s life just gets more and more complicated as the story goes on. Lots of secrets are revealed, and more questions come up, as some things obviously aren’t as they at first seemed. One minute you think you know where the story is going, and then Kiersten, in her usual fashion, throws another shocking twist your way. I normally don’t like part two’s of books/movies as they seem to be more of a boring middle point to the story, but the action picks up in this one so much I never lost interest. As usual, I had to give myself a reading curfew to keep from losing too much sleep wanting to know what happens next. Definitely looking forward to part 3!

This series just keeps getting better and better. Cora's life gets more complicated as she learns more secrets about her family's history, embraces her magic and faces great danger.
I enjoyed seeing Caro really grow and gain strength. She is subjected to real horrors but continues to open her heart to others. This book introduces a new man who really seems to appreciate all aspects of her and their experiences make her question some of her feelings for those she is bonded too. The author does a wonderful job of balancing all the characters and continue to develop them. As with the other book, it ends on quite a cliffhanger.
I recommend you read the series in order and I am really looking forward to the next book.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received. -
Wow. So, Wicked Nights was amazing. I loved the first book, A Wicked Hunger, and couldn't wait to continue the series. The author continues to develop her characters really well, and you start to get really invested in them. I really liked Cora in this book, she is starting to grow into herself, and man she is something. We learned more about Mace and Knox, and their history together. I loved Bray, and how they finally meet. I can't wait to continue on!

This is book #2 in this series. I suggest you read them in order. There is so much information that continues from book to book. Cora continues to struggle with her magic. The number of men in her life grows. As do the questions. Hopefully there will be a few answers in the next story.
*I received a free copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing* -
2.5 stars!

Mmmmeh.
Just not feeling the heroine and the way she picks up her multiple partners and how she deals with them. -

4.5 Stars *Warning: possible spoilers*
If it's one thing I like about Fay's books, is that while it's sometimes slow to occur, the female lead grows strong in and of herself. The only thing that kept me from giving this a solid 5 instead of 4.5 is that Cora, though much bolder and more brazen toward the end of this book than she is in the beginning, is still not where she should be.
For a woman who grew up on the streets and in gangs, she's a lot more naive and trusting than someone should be, having been in those situations. She's kind of like Forest Gump, except that bad things keep happening to her. She keeps getting taken advantage of due to her own naivete, albeit she does grow stronger b/c of those incidences.
I do hope by book 3 (as hinted at the end of this)she finally puts Knox in his place and knocks him down a few pegs - where he belongs. Since the unfortunate - and forced- bonding of her cell mate (when she's kidnapped and experimented on), the sought after Brayden - she learns that she 'owns' him and can compel him, yet she doesn't do this with Knox, or Mace for that matter. Her guilt over her sexual relationship with Brayden weighs on her, yet she can't get over how much Mace has kept information from her, clams up when asked questions, and has been spying on her more than was required for his mission. Not to mention she has yet to get him to confess who "Elizabeth" was. She might love him, but in all honesty Mace does not deserve her fidelity and I really hope in book 3 this is another thing Cora rectifies.
Cora does find out several things about herself that will hopefully change her for the better.
I enjoyed Saraphine, and love that she's strong in her own right. She's a solo witch, independent of coven and boyfriend, and knows that she isn't a lesser woman b/c of it. In fact, she's better.
The language of Fay's writing is more erotic than 99% of so called "erotica" books out there. It sucks to have to wait so long for book 3, but for readers with standards quality is better than quantity. -
This second book starts right up where the first book leaves off. It is recommended to read the first book. Still, this book can be read as a standalone. Coraline went from one husband now to bonded with two vampires. Her life can't get more complicated ... and we'd be wrong. Learning more about her heritage and learning more about what powers she has but can't use is going to be tough. This story is more of an exploration into Coraline's unbound powers and how she can balance being with two vastly different vampires.
I was sucked down into this book so quickly. The story building is good and I'm on the edge trying to see what will happen. There is a bit more reveal and some nasty scene of torture. It does build this story up and we learn more about this organization peddling vampire blood. There is much more than meets the eye. And as if things can't get worse, Coraline is now bonded to three vampires. Learning about how her first two used to be lovers and brothers in arms only confuses Coraline more.
This book was heavier and more serious than the previous one. I liked it and it is really building up to a hopefully a conclusion as I know the next book is probably the last with Coraline as I picked up book 4 as the intro to this series. Whilst this story doesn't end in a cliff hanger, it does hook a reader into reading the next book immediately. Recommended to paranormal readers who enjoy complicated relationships. -
Let me go on record by saying that I'm a fan of this writer. Her "Shadow Quest" series is awesome and the first book in this series was great as well, but this one. . .well, not much really happened and it was kind of dull. It's kind of difficult to keep something engaging when you decide to have most of your main characters imprisoned for about 60% of the book. Two were locked away in a cell, and the others were locked up by some sadistic doctor and experimented on. . .oh, and when the main character wasn't being physically locked up, she was being possessed by a wraith that wanted her body. Oh, and when she finally escaped from lockup, she was captured all over again.
What you have is an apparently extremely powerful witch that has a significant lineage who does not know how to wield her powers whenever she wants and has no control over them. She also ingests lots of vampire blood and gets bitten alot and is sexually frustrated constantly.
Book 2 in this series came across as just filler to me, and things really need to pick up in Book 3 to keep me invested. Two full books, and this witch still doesn't know how to cast a spell at will? This one just doesn't move the story forward much . . .all it really does, is add a third prominent male vampire for her to accidentally bond to and of course, go to bed with. -
Okay, so I liked the part where Cora is kidnapped by evil scientists and I even liked Brayden. But did this series really need another love interest? A quadrangle! I then realised that anything set away from the cottage is good, but anything set in the cottage is just pointless. Repetitive and boring. I'm sick of Cora's childish behaviour towards Knox and Knox's distrusting behaviour towards Cora. That is getting old fast. Mace isn't a cool bad-ass vampire anymore. He's just a love-sick and sappy fool. But the worst thing about this book is Saraphine. She is the most annoying and unlikeable character. I couldn't care less about her so was loathe to even read her name. Totally skimmed her parts because she just made me angry with her stupidity. Cora is also getting less likeable by the chapter. I'm hoping she can redeem herself in book 3.
-
I absolutely loved this book. Hate that I have to wait so long for the next one to come out, but love the difference in romance and paranormal that goes on with this. Am extremely excited to get the next one and see how things work out with Bray and Mace. Not so sure what I feel about Knox, he's not as "tough" as he's fronting.
-
This is a great book. I didn't want to set it down. Soooo ready for the next in the series.
-
as always one of my favorite authors. Lots of twists and turns in this one...

I absolutely loved this book!
We get introduced to Bray, and he's such a sweetie! He's my favorite male in the series.
I couldn't put this book down, and enjoyed it more than the first one.
This series is a must-read!
