Perfect World, Tome 5 (Perfect World, #5) Reviews

    [ Re-read in 2024. ]

This is the perfect example of how even if we mean well, sometimes it might not the right answer. As we’ve seen in the previous volumes, relationships are complicated, more so when one of them is in a wheelchair. Love might not be good enough and yet, even if it’s hopeless, we just hang on to whatever we can to make ourselves, and our significant others, happy.

In this volume, Tsugumi starts dating Koreda (a guy who I actually like ‘cause he’s been nothing but someone who does love her) in order to find her own happiness after Itsuki broke up with her. She’s back in her home town and there she meets with a young woman who’s also in a wheelchair. She’s real sick and well… she might not make it to another year.

This young woman is dating a serious chef who wants to make her happy by building her dream house but she’s so sick, she doesn’t understand why would he work so hard if she might not even see it. Why bother with all this struggle? But her boyfriend, despite his rough looks, is nothing but sweet to her. He even reaches out to Itsuki, so he can design their new home (something that would make her daily life easier) …only to come back with a brutal no for an answer.

Tsugumi and Itsuki are far from each other but… what if they come up together with an answer that will help this young couple too? I guess we’ll see it in the next volume!

    This volume contains chapter 20 – 24.

    Read it for #MiniMangaReadathon.

To be honest, the story is getting repetitive, and quite depressing at that...
The drawings are still beautiful, of course. But since I've started reading mangas, I've realized that this one tends to have a tiny writing, which can make it hard to read.

OK YALL —-ahhhh I’m frustrated 😭😭😭😭so much heartache 💔💔💔💔

Nooooo!!!! Cliff hanger and it’s the last one that I have!!! Instant gratification monster wants the rest NOW. 4, I need the next one now, stars.

Note to self: when you binge-read a manga it can be really hard to write reviews afterwards because all the storylines merge into one. So maybe chill out and don't binge-read it, no matter how enticing a prospect it might seem.
    RTC soon... hopefully?

This one felt like a bit of a filler, but not in a bad way at all! I feel like it was a necessary piece in the puzzle of this story. I always feel the same way after reading a new volume of this story...how am I going to be able to wait for the next one?!

    4/5 stars

I have such mixed feelings about this series. At this point, I feel like Kawana is just stringing Koreda along. Koreda still irritates me, and Nagasawa irritated me in this volume as well. Two side characters are introduced in this volume, Kaede and Keigi, and they're actually my favorites thus far! They're the reason this volume got 4 stars. I really liked this series at the start for many reasons, but all the drama is beginning to lessen my enjoyment.

    Content: fade to black scene

Will there be a volume where I don't cry?

The tension and slow burn and side characters suddenly becoming main characters is really throwing me off but I love these characters too much to give up so I am giving it another volume in hopes we get back on track.

    The cliff hanger omg

    bello bello

Probably my least favourite so far. It’s still enjoyable, but I’m starting to tire of Kawana and Itsuki being separated. Obviously this period is a part of their love story, but I just want them to get back together already😭

I have a lot of hope for the remainder of the series, though.

Hiks.... Adek saya menangis sesenggukan ketika kakak saya memberi pengertian tentang kondisi ibu saya. Menjadi realistis, menerima kenyataan dengan lapang dada adalah satu hal yang pahit, tapi that's the harsh truth :( Bagi Kaede, mimpinya adalah salah satu yang sulit dicapai, bagi Keigo, apapun akan ia lakukan demi hidup bersama Kaede. Huhuhuhu....

Oof, this volume was super messy!

At first, I didn't really didn't see the "drama" in this series, but this volume made me really upset because of Tsugumi's actions. I can't say it's unrelatable in that she is looking to move on, but I really really feel she is using Koreda in this relationship. I'm pretty confident he also knows he's being used because he even says at one point that he wants her to be the only one she has eyes for.

    Insert big sigh I think?

Despite that I'm upset with her choice, I really really liked the new couple in this volume! It's surprising how much of a big difference there is in this relationship compared to the Ogawa's relationship in the previous volume. While I'm not super happy where things are concerning the romance, I'm so glad that Tsugumi is in a position where she can hopefully help make a difference in another couple's lives because she has been there too (and felt the effects of choices that weren't made by her).

Nagasawa's role in this volume was an interesting one. Not sure how else to expand on that except the end left me nervous with her, but I liked that we got to see who she was as a nurse and how instrumental of a role she played in people's lives.

Going onto the next volume with quite a bit of angst…LOL

It was better than volume 4! However, I had to skip a few pages with things getting a little to much with Koreda and Kawana; that’s what brings it from 4 to 3 stars for me.

Koreda gets on my nerves so much oh my gosh. Like, the fact Kawana looks uncomfortable at times. Not gonna lie, Nagasawa got a lot better this volume.

I loved the new couple introduced a lot! Those additions are the only thing keeping up going with two FULL volumes of separation. But there’s hope. 🥹

Kawana, break up with Koreda like right now and remember you love Ayukawa (and vise versa with Nagasawa). 💀

  • Sheila

  • Julie

Ugh this series is so upsetting. It's always so sad.

I really don't like Koreda and I really hope a relationship doesn't form between Nagasawa and Ayukawa... I can feel it going in that direction though. I just want Ayukawa and Kawana to be together, but I know it's difficult and there's reasons. I just really love them together so much.

This series is so painful, but so amazing. You can tell the mangaka put so much work and care and research into it.

  • Dayla

I understand why the things that happen in this series are happening, and why these characters need to do the things they need to do, but I just want them to have their happy endings! (This was all me trying to not spoil anything.)

I absolutely can't wait until the next volume!

    Happy reading!

I feel like this series doesn't pull its punches when it comes to the important things! Love this story! Need physical prints in the US!
Can't get enough! This dialogue is so important!
