Hannah Perry is taking a much-needed vacation on an island with her young son, David. She is approached by the local police when they learn she is a forensic artist. They have discovered a skull and would like her to use her talents to reconstruct the face for identification purposes. When someone breaks into her house and tries to kill her, Hannah grabs David and makes her escape on a boat, only to have it capsize in a storm. Gage Blackwell is jogging on the beach when he sees the boat turn over. He pulls them to shore where he recognizes Hannah. He used to date her and didn't know she had returned home. Now he vows to protect Hannah from whoever is trying to kill her.
This story started off with a bang, but the momentum quickly dwindled. We got to hear about how Hannah and Gage used to be in love until he dumped her to go off and become a Navy SEAL. Gage later injured his arm and started a business bodyguarding and training special skills to law enforcement. Now he wants a second chance with Hannah; but doesn't know if she is interested.
Hannah was devastated when Gage dumped her, but she overcame the anguish and later married. Now she is a widow and doesn't know if she can put her trust into another man. She does trust him to guard David and herself; but doesn't know if she wants a relationship.
This story was billed as a Christian Romantic Suspense story. The romance portion of the book was flat for me. I didn't care if they got together at all. The suspense parts were the best parts of the book. My rating: 2.5 Stars. -
Cold Terror really kept me guessing! The suspense of who was trying to kill Hannah was very captivating and the attraction between the two main characters was ramped up for me by the past that they needed to overcome.
This was the first book that I have read by this author and I definitely plan to read more. It was also the introduction to a series that I look forward to reading. -
I really enjoyed this novel. Can't wait to read future books by this author.
-
DNF - Made it about 68% and it wasn't worth my time to finish.

This was a great beginning to a new series which promise of great suspense stories and more characters to get to know and love.
This story was fast paced, suspenseful and action packed. I was kept guessing right till the end and I enjoyed the addition of the children in the story.
I look forward to getting to know more of the Blackwell Security men. -
This is the first book I've read by Susan Sleeman. I'm so excited to find a "new to me" author, and one who has thirty or more books already published.
The characters were well developed. I loved Hannah and Gage as well as their supporting cast.
I found Hannah's feelings to be very believable in lieu of what she'd been through. I was surprised by how well Gage expressed his apology for the way he'd handled things between them in the past, as well as what his hope for the two of them in the future.
The plot moves along at a steady pace, very suspenseful. I did not see the plot twist coming. It was a total surprise.
Most of all I liked the writer's voice, it wasn't forced or contrived, it was easy smooth reading.
I loved this book. -
Hannah is taking a 'vacation' with her five year old son, but is working in the evenings after her son is in bed asleep. She is doing reconstruction on the skull of a woman who was murdered to help the police discover both her identity and killer. Someone breaks into her home and grab her. She manages to get both her and her son away to her boat on the water, while setting the burglar's boat free, hindering his ability to come after them. There is a storm and an old flame, former SEAL, Gage is going for his nightly run and sees them in the water, as the storm has capsized the boat. He rescues them and becomes involved in their safety as other attempts are made on Hannah's life.
A lot of predictability in the story. Also, near the end when Gage confronts the killer, and uses his tactics in getting the killer to confess, were just totally unbelievable. That entire scene was so unrealistic that it truly ruined the story for me. -
Forensic artist, Hannah Perry, and her son are on the run from someone who does not want her to complete the picture of a recently discovered skull. While fleeing the man, she and her son are rescued by Gage Blackwel, a former seal and owner of Blackwell Tactical a company that specializes in protection services. Gage and Hannah have a past. Will it help or hurt them as Gage tries to protect Hannah and her son?
Top notch debut novel for a wonderful suspense series. -
: COLD TERROR is the first book in Ms. Sleeman's Cold Harbor series and it does make this reader anxious to read the rest of the stories about military heroes who are doing what they love in the civilian world.
Hannah is on a working vacation trying to reconstruct a skull when she is brutally attacked. Fleeing for her life she runs into trouble, forcing Gage to rescue her and her son. But the hits keep coming.
This novella will make you want to keep reading to discover who-dun-it (I never guessed) and why, and you'll want to read the entire series. A serious page turner.
I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own. -
Hannah and Gage race to find who is targeting her and the process get a second chance at love.
I loved the storyline and the engaging characters.
This book is recommended for those that love romantic suspense. -
I will say right up front that I am not a fan of novellas due to the fact that they seem too rushed for the plot to play out well. But however I enjoyed this one. It was well written and the two main characters’ relationship is well done. This book sets the stage well for the next books in the series. I love Hannah and Gage’s story and the town of Cold Harbor.

This was a story that I chose from some no-cost selections. A great pick! Hannah is a forensic artist who does reconstructions. She is a widow with a young son. Suddenly, she is attacked, in the process of escaping she meets Gage, a long lost love. The attacker does not give up and the reader wonders how it will end. It was very exciting and yet it was written with lovely Christian overtones, which made the book even better. I do want to read the rest of the "Cold" books in the series.

Hannah Perry and her son are in Cold Harbor where Hannah, a forensic artist, is helping with a murder case when their cabin is breached and they flee in a boat to the mainland. When their boat capsizes, they are rescued by former Navy SEAL Gage Blackwell, Hannah's former fiance who abandoned her years previously.
Gage vows to protect the recently-widowed Hannah and her son, especially since Hannah's husband had been one of Gage's SEAL team members. He takes her to his compound, Blackwell Tactical, which is manned by former SEALs as they try to solve the mystery of the young woman's death and, in the process, are faced with the possibility that one of their former SEAL members may have not only murdered the young woman but also Hannah's husband as well.
Gage, the father of an autistic daughter and now a widower, finds himself falling in love all over again with Hannah. But can Hannah trust the man who left her a decade previously? And can she learn to trust God again, as well as Gage?
This mystery dragged at times and seemed focused too much on simplistic faith and vacillating emotions. It was okay, but I don't have any desire to continue reading the series. -
When Gage Blackwell sees someone in the water during a storm, his rescue skills immediately kick in, the response ingrained in him. Little does he know the woman in the water is the one he left for adventure. The one he hasn’t forgotten. As Gage vows to protect Hannah, he must also protect his heart.
Susan Sleeman adds some unique elements to this story—an injured ex-Navy SEAL who has created a place for others like him to put their skills to good use, a little girl with a lifelong disability, and a killer who is not after the obvious.
The combination creates a tense and satisfying story where the connection between Gage and Hannah is as intense as the suspense.

Oh my goodness!
I am loving reading Susan Sleeman books! They are packed with suspense, intrigue, action and some twists and turns along the way!
I was hooked from the very first chapter and scene....WOW! What a way to start a book! It made me jump. I'm glad I didn't read this late at night while being alone!
Susan Sleeman has got a fantastic start to this series. I'm feeling I'm really behind the ball since I know there are a lot more books in this series. I guess I need to get reading to catch up with them all. I can just picture all the characters and know each one will be involved in some great "edge-of-your-seat" suspense and action!
Plus, of course, there probably will be a bit of romance. Sweet!
I can't wait to dig deeper into this group of larger-than-life heroes!
If you love action, suspense, and intrigue, then I highly recommend you pick this series up and start reading it!
I received this book from the author for an honest review and ALL opinions are my own! -
I finished reading Cold Terror by Susan Sleeman. I was so into the storyline with Hannah, David, Gage, Mia and the whole Tactical Team, I couldn’t believe it was over so quickly. I’m so glad it’s the first in the series so I don’t have to say goodbye for good. This story grabbed me from the first page all the way through to the end. I read a lot of suspense fiction and yet this author always seems to find a way to pull me in and keep me hanging on through the end… always wanting more. The depth of her characters, the twists in her storylines and the way she brings the characters to life. I felt as though I was Hannah and I love how this author seems to always speak directly to my heart. I love how she tied it all together - I didn't see it coming. Great story and I can’t wait to read the next one.

A riveting romantic suspense novella!
The development of both Hannah and Gage is wonderful. I love all the details that are given slowly throughout the story about the past relationship. It was great to meet all the members of Gage’s security team. I am looking forward to finding out more about each of them as each book in this series comes out.
The action in this book is fantastic. I was kept guessing about the details of the danger right up until the end of the story.
I received a free eBook copy of this novella from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion. -
Excellent
I like the author's writing style. Fast paced and engaging. I loved the motivation behind how the team was built.
It seemed like a really short story, but I'm looking forward to reading more in the serious. -
This book may be read alone but the series is best understood when read in order
I read this on #KindleUnlimited -
3.5

It lacked depth in some areas.

The book starts off with action and never ends which kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked Hannah right away. I loved reading about her job as a forensic sketch artist. It is a very rewarding job that can give closure to families. After losing her husband in a tragic accident, Hannah is trying to pick up the pieces of her life.
Taking a vacation with her son seemed like a great idea until danger enters her cozy little cottage. The struggle she had with the intruder was intense and I held my breath as she tries to escape. When Gage is introduced in the story , I instantly liked him. I love stories about Navy Seals and their determination to do their mission. It was interesting to read that Hannah and Gage knew each other.
There is definitely some friction between the two, but Gage is going to keep Hannah and her son safe at all costs. Hannah seems a bit hesitant to trust Gage. Will she allow Gage to do his job and catch whoever is after her? I loved how Hannah began to realize that God had a plan for her. When something goes wrong in your life, you tend to blame God. You forget that he has never left you. The fact that Hannah finally grasped that helped her to learn to trust Gage.
The story is a great start to a new series that promises intense action and characters that jump off the pages. I really enjoyed the time Hannah and Gage spent together letting each other know of pain from their past. The author does a great job of allowing us to see the vulnerable side of Gage. He is a tough guy and is fierce at his job, but he lets his guard down a bit when he is around Hannah. The ending is high caliber action. I can't forget to mention how creative the author is about how Hannah is being tracked by someone who wants her dead. It's a very well written story that reminds us to forgive, trust God and never give up.
I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion. -
I really enjoyed this book. Action-packed from page 1.

This is book one in the Cold Harbor series and what a great place to start. Susan Sleeman always does such a great job at writing suspenseful, mystery, FBI/police/Spec Ops type of romance books. I have never been disappointed in one of her books. They usually keep you guessing from beginning till end.
This series will focus on a group of people who all work for Blackwell Tactical, this book focuses on the owner, the handsome former SEAL, Gage Blackwell. Gage has had some issues he must deal with on his own but when Hannah Perry is in need of help he is not expecting to have to face some of those issues right now.
Hannah is a beautiful woman with a unique job. When someone tries to kill her and she escapes with her young son will she be able to trust the one man who broke her heart years ago?
Hannah and Gage must work together to find who and why Hannah is being targeted before it is to late.
