    When I was younger… 🤓

Let me start by saying, this is a good book, well written.

    However, it’s not for me.
10 years ago, I would have read this in a night, and been desperate for more.
In fact, that’s how I did react to the authors other series.

But the problem is simply, once you’ve read enough in this style and genre, they start to feel predictable and flat.

Not the writing, but where and how we’re getting there, and what we’ll find at the end.
I was easily able to see the big plot points long before their reveal, felt no real tension or concern over any of the action, and the romance left me skimming.

In part, it’s also because this was a sweet, only slightly darker story.
While there was some uncomfortable subject matter, it didn’t concern any of our players, and was brief in detail and page space, [for which I was greatful, but still wanted more tension, action, story immersion].

This is a fairly simple, straight forward ‘historical’ PNR.
It’s driving plot used to justify the romance does twist and turn, extending over the whole series, but is still very secondary to the romance.

We don’t experience any real sense of the time or culture.
We don’t have to deal with pesky details of pain, hunger, tiredness, or deeper sense of fear and reality.

But we do get muscles, accents, strong FMC’s, spicy scenes, and baddies worthy of hating.

Mid 20’s to 30’s, or haven’t read enough of these yet, I fully recommend.
Looking for something a little deeper, a little more challenging…use this as mid-read filler, or time out, otherwise give it a miss for a bit.

A pretty good book but once you've read one of these books it seems like you've read them all ... well so far i've only read book 1 & 2. Other than the names being different the plot was pretty much the same. I won't go into the plot cos it'll really give away the whole story since there's so little surprise.

So while this book was a good read, it was missing that wow factor. Thus 4 stars only. And also why I'm gona stop reading this series for now. I've had enough of time traveling highlander romance for now~

    DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
    Title: Tharaen
    Series: Immortal Highlander
    Author: Hazel Hunter
Designation: Book Two of Series, Full-Length Standalone, No Cliffhanger, Medieval Historical/Time Travel/Fantasy Romance
    Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Sexy Riveting Stars*****
**Disclaimer: Although there is an underlying interconnected storyline running throughout the series, each release focuses primarily on one couple finding love and their happy ending. I believe each of the books can still be read as standalones. The author does a fabulous job of giving the reader sufficient backstory, but I recommend reading the books in order of their release. It's one decision I'm sure you'll rever regret.

Oh my! I loved, loved, loved this book! I'm fascinated by stories featuring mythology, folklore, and fantasy, adore Time Travel Romance, infatuated with Medieval Historical Fiction, addicted to steamy romance, obsessed with strong, sassy heroines, completely smitten with sexy Scottish Highlanders from any century, and when I can find it all in one great read, I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Hazel Hunter delivered in Tharaen, the second riveting release in her new Immortal Highlander Series! There are so many things I truly enjoyed about this book so let's talk details!

Tharaen is a captivating, imaginative, fast-paced, exceptionally well-crafted and edited, full-length standalone historical medieval time travel romance with paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy elements, and filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, steamy passion, and heartwarming romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives and this story had quite a few. In some instances, multiple points of view can be somewhat confusing to the reader if they aren't skillfully written, but Hunter does an excellent job. All the perspectives are clearly discernible by individual chapters. I always enjoy stories written with clearly defined multiple perspectives. It allows me to know the thoughts of all the primary characters, not just the protagonists, and I especially love it when we know what's going on in the convoluted minds of the bad guys. I think it adds so much more depth to the story. The dialogue is smart, snappy, and flows effortlessly. Hunter obviously did her research because I found the language and terminology for the era to be authentic, articulate, and exceptionally well executed. In other words, Hunter's fourteenth-century characters spoke like fourteenth-century Scottish Highlanders. In reality, none of us would actually be able to understand a fourteenth-century Highlander, but Hunter did make them sound as realistic as possible, which definitely added to my enjoyment of this story. But without a doubt, my favorite element of every book is the characters, and this story is no exception. Hunter gives us a large cast of intriguing, engaging, and well-developed characters who literally explode from the pages, grab your imagination, demand your undivided attention, and completely capture your heart. I fell head over heels for the two protagonists, present-day San Diego Police Department Lieutenant Diana Burke and fourteenth-century Scottish Highlander Tharaen Aber. OMG! I loved these two characters! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed all the characters but Diana grabbed me in the very first chapter and I became completely smitten(obsessed...lol...) with huge, hunkalicious, highlander Tharaen Aber aka Raen when he was introduced in the first book of the series. Diana Burke is a tough-as-nails, six-foot female cop assigned to the missing person unit of the San Diego Police Department. Diana was abandoned at a police station as a child by her drug-addicted, prostitute mother and placed in a foster home where she was the victim of abuse and neglect. Fortunately, a San Diego police officer took an interest in her case and became her mentor, inspiring her to also choose a career in law enforcement. Diana is such a dedicated, determined, and realistic character with whom I connected on a very personal level. She's also a strong, independent woman with remarkable empathy and strength of character who fights for every breath and never accepts defeat. Diana's resolve to find missing person Captain Kinley Chandler, the heroine from the first book of the series, is only one example of her incredible tenacity, one which leads her to the surprising discovery of having much more in common with the missing Air Force captain than she ever could have imagined and, ultimately, to the same fate. Immortal Highlander Tharaen Aber was introduced in the first book of the series as friend and bodyguard to Lachlan McDonnel, Laird of Clan McDonnel of the Island of Skye, but in Book 2 we find Raen has now become seneschal(steward) of Clan McDonnel. Diana and Raen are perfect together and complement each other brilliantly! The interaction between these two remarkable characters is absolutely captivating, their attraction undeniable, and their fate inescapable. When these two meet, sparks fly and passion explodes, and I do mean quite literally! I snorted, snickered, sniffled, and sobbed through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, and well entertained! Well done, Hazel Hunter! Well done, indeed!

Did I like this book? No, I loved it! I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader, completely captivated with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages! I could not stop reading! I'm totally smitten with this entire series and can hardly wait to see what Hunter has in store for her readers in Book 3! Would I recommend it? You bet and I a but only for adult readers since it does contain several explicit love scenes! If you enjoy well-written medieval historical tales with supernatural elements, and liberally seasoned with time travel, action adventure, danger, drama, passion, and romance, then this book is screaming your name! And if you loved the movie and series Highlander, this story will, most likely, tickle your fancy! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Lieutenant Diana Burke has never believed in magic - until now. Either she's experiencing the most realistic dream in history, or magic truly does exist. After a return trip to the crime scene at Horsethief Canyon from which Air Force Captain Kinley Chandler disappeared twelve months earlier, Diana is mysteriously transported 800 years back in time to the fourteenth century. Shortly after her arrival, she discovers the critically injured Chandler is not only alive but also completely healed and happily married to Lachlan McDonnel, Laird of Clan McDonnel, a group of immortal Highlanders who have been fighting a legion of cursed undead Roman soldiers for the past 1200 years. And yes, they're vampires! Oh my! Although Diana's common sense tells her magic doesn't exist, there's no other logical explanation. The rational course of action would be to wake up from her very vivid dream, or accept the situation, rescue Captain Chandler, and somehow find a way back to her own time. But courageous, strong-willed Diana Burke has never been afraid or unwilling to face a challenge. Diana quickly realizes she wants to stay and learn more of the fascinating new world in which she now finds herself, especially if it means spending time with Tharaen Aber, a handsome, muscled immortal Highlander and one of few men she's ever met who towers well above her six-foot frame. Diana is intrigued by Raen and his glowing facial tatts, and soon finds herself enamored with the brave warrior. Apparently, the attraction is mutual. Why else would the glowing glyphs jump from Raen's skin to hers after only a mere touch? Why, indeed? Diana has always possessed the inexplicable ability to find missing objects and sometimes people, but there are those who resent her Druid ancestry and the power she may possess, and determined for Diana to return to her own time, regardless of the means or consequences. What does fate have in store for our lovely red-haired, violet-eyed time traveler? Will Diana become another casualty of the ongoing war with the undead, or will she be forced to accept the fate awaiting her in the future? Or could she finally find acceptance, happiness, and everlasting love in the arms of a fourteenth-century Immortal Highlander? We'll see!

    Another good book!

I am really loving this series as I keep reading these books. The stories are compelling and I liking the overall arc along with the individual romances. The next book is about Evander and I'm curious about what he's been up to since he left with his mortal love in the first book.

  • Melinda

I'm enjoying this medieval Scottish time-traveling series by Hazel Hunter. I thought it would be ridiculous because it is about an immortal Scottish clan fighting immortal Roman vampires who the author calls “undead” but it's not ridiculous. It's good.

In the last book, we met Kinley who time traveled from San Diego to medieval Scotland and ended up marrying the McDonnel Clan leader, Lachlan.

In this book, Diana Burke is the detective from the Missing Person's Unit in charge of looking for Kinley. She ends up falling into medieval Scotland and finds Kinley living happily with Clan McDonnel.

Diana finds herself liking it there too, especially because of one gorgeous tattooed Scot named Tharaen aka Raen. She wants to stay but finds herself with a powerful opponent, a druid named Bhaltair. The moment he saw Diana, he wanted her to be gone. He looked like he hated her and she didn't know why.

They know that anyone who travels through the gate from the future has druid blood. Diana's druid gift is that she can track people so the clan finds her useful and may side with her against the druids. This might not end well.

There are some graphic and strange sex scenes in this book which had me cringing but other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

(Immortal Highlander Book 2): A Scottish Time Travel Romance
    (Volume 2)

Lieutenant Diana Burke won't give up. Even though her missing persons case is gone cold and a year has passed she's still trying to find Kinley Chandler. Something about this case doesn't make sense so she keeps on looking, but the last place the detective expects to find her is in the highlands of medieval Scotland.

Tharaen Aber is a bodyguard who doesn't need another security complication about as much as he needs a hole in his head, but that's exactly what he gets after catching a lady sneaking around Dun Aran Castle. As skilled tracker as he's ever seen, she lends her aid at every opportunity. Unfortunately for the Highlander, the complications she brings to his heart are not so easily solved.

The biggest problem is that not all eyes see Diana for the good she brings. The druids then demand that she leaves and are determined to see the deed done.

Once again Hazel Hunter shows us how much talent she has and in my opinion hits it right out of the ball park. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Liked this enough to finish the book and put the next one on my TBR. Didn't like it enough to jump right into the next one. lol. Overall, it's a cut lil' time travel, outlander-esque series.

Every bit as enjoyable as the first story. It was a great read and kept me turning pages. I loved it!

    Review to follow...What it's about...
Tharaen is the right-hand man and bodyguard of the chieftain of his immortal clan. Right now he's got his hands full with what the undead are planning.

LT Diana Burke has a cold-case to solve but she's fallen through a hole to find herself in medieval Scotland. She applies all her skills, but she's still caught snooping around the castle by the big man in charge of security, Tharaen.

They shoot sparks off each other, quite literally. Can they set aside their own feelings long enough to figure out what to do about the undead Romans? Will Tharaen survive Diana's solution?

    Technical Tidbits...
The cover is absolutely yummy! Where does she get these lovely men? But this series is more than that. There is that larger than life font with the wonderful caps and serifs in gold. The use of the plaid, Celtic symbols, and the old buildings in the background with the stormy sky.

The storyline is the almost same as the first one, but with a different intent and it's told with different twists.

The characters from the first aren't embellished on, but the new characters are explained very nicely.

The pace is great. You just have a chance to catch your breath between crazy events before you're on to the next one. Sometimes it's a bigger breath than others.

The tension starts as soon as you realize she's looking for Kinley at the canyon and it stays with you until she agrees to marry him.

And this is where you STOP if you don't want to see any SPOILERS...

The good, the bad, and the ugly...and how much it lit up my life... ✰✰✰✰✰

I really liked this new character, Diana Burke. For the longest time, I didn't realize she was so sick. I just figured she was a loner and a hard worker. She was cleaning up cold cases and Kinley's was today's cold case. Then like Alice, she was down the rabbit hole! And when she got to Scotland, she really fit right in, even better than Kinley did early on. She dressed like the guys, except on Sundays for Margaret, and was willing to learn things to fit in with their play and their work. She was already a large woman standing over 6', so she really did fit in well. Being a fit, athletic woman worked well for her, too. She wouldn't have fit into this role as well had she been a fashionista in heels and pencil skirts or a librarian in twin sets and cute flats or shy and retiring. She was just the type Tharaen needed to stand up to him and be his mate.

I started out not liking the druid, Bhaltair. Of course, that's how it was supposed to be. It seemed like he meant to hurt her somehow. It took the whole book to understand that he was more afraid of how she could hurt him that he wanted her to go. Bhaltair didn't want to think that Yana could have lied to him and hidden his own child from him. But finally, they both had family. Two lonely people who had never had any family now had this one other person to claim as their own. This was a big thing for both of them. And I think Diana is just the person to melt through the armor that Bhaltair keeps around him with her honest and open personality. That will bring a closer relationship between the clan and the druids as well.

This was a good follow-up to the first book, but I'm hoping that the third book, Evander, is a bit different. The synopsis I've read seems like it might be. Then the fourth book, Tormod, looks like it's a lot different when two people come through and one makes it to the clan and the other one goes elsewhere. I wonder how many of these Ms. Hunter plans to write. It's a really good series, but I think it would have its limitations after a certain point.

    Recommended.

    Tharaen and Diana

Lieutenant Diana Burke works in the Missing Persons Department of the San Diego Police Department and has been searching for Captain Kinley Chandler since her disappearance some twelve months ago. Now if you have read or listened to the first book in this series (Lachlan) you will know that Kindley is now happily living on the Isle of Skye but I get ahead of myself.

Diana has a secret, one she has kept to herself for some time but she knows that soon everyone will discover her secret but before they do she decides to take one last look at the scene of Kinley's disappearance - Horsethief Canyon.

Diana finds herself mysteriously transported 800 years back in time to the fourteenth century. She finds herself amongst a bunch of what she assumes are actors pretending to be Scottish Highlanders. She sneaks into a castle and is drawn towards a staircase but is discovered before she can get to the top of the stairs. She is challenged by Raen and then all hell breaks loose......

Eventually, she meets Kinley who when she disappeared was critically injured but now is not only alive but also completely healed and happily married to Lachlan McDonnel, Laird of Clan McDonnel, a group of immortal Highlanders who have been fighting a legion of cursed undead Roman soldiers for the past 1200 years. So we have immortal Highlanders and Roman Soldiers who are now vampires oh and we also have the magic folk as they are called by the people of that time - Druids.

Now Diana does not believe in magic she has always looked for a logical explanation to anything, but she can't explain away the fact that she's there, that she feels better, fitter and more alive than she has felt in years. Diana quickly realizes she wants to stay and learn more of the fascinating new world in which she now finds herself, she wants to find out how Kinley can be well when she was so very seriously wounded.

Tharaen Aber, a tall handsome immortal Highlander is charged with guarding her. He's one of few men she's ever met who makes her feel feminine not an easy task as she is 6 feet tall. Diana is attracted to Raen who has facial tattoos which seem to glow. Although he fights it the attraction is mutual and when he gives in to his attraction his glowing marks jump from Raen's skin to hers after only a mere touch of her hand to his face, why, what does this mean?

Diana has always been very good at finding missing objects and people hence her job. It seems that this is a gift she has inherited from an ancestor who must have been a Druid because only a Druid could have traveled through time to the sacred grove as she and Kinley did.

As the attraction between Diana and Raen deepens into love and her life in the settlement takes on a new meaning Diana hopes that she will be able to stay but one of the most powerful Druids has his own reasons for wanting her gone.

This story had me totally enthralled from the very beginning to the very end, so much so that I resented any time when I could not carry on listing to it! The world building and the storyline are so very well done. I would love to tell you more about this exciting, enthralling and emotional storyline but I can't - why you ask? Well because that would mean giving out too many spoilers and this book is just too good for that!

The narration by William MacLeod could not be improved upon, he brings every single character to life vividly. The depth of feeling in his voice is incredible and as he also narrated Lachlan the characters are consistent.

The writing by Hazel Hunter is excellent, the characters are vivid and real, you feel like you know them and the storyline was excellent. Having listened to the first two books in this wonderful series I really want to listen to more!

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review

  • Sue

What an adventure! I absolutely loved this book and series. I am anxiously awaiting B3.
I received this book as and ARC, but the opinions and comments expressed come from my heat to yours. This is a fabulous new series by a literary crafts-woman in the art of story-telling, Hazel Hunter.

Yes I would recommend it to you to read!

This is the second book in the Immortal Highlanders series, but can be read as a standalone as there is no cliffhanger in either book.

Police officer Diana Burke works in the San Diego Missing Persons Department and has an outstanding record of finding lost or missing children or adults. She has decided to take on the Cold Case of missing Air Force Captain Kinley Chandler, who disappeared a year ago in Horsethief Canyon right at the edge of a cliff that drops off precipitously.

Kinley was suicidal at the time of her disappearance. She was dying, her battle wounds just too severe, she had stopped eating, slept most of the time and had to be persuaded by her new psychiatrist to get out of the hospital for a bit and be close with nature in a beautiful park filled with ancient oak trees. Kinley was going to let her wheelchair carry her over the high cliff, but she never made it. What happened? Where is she? No trace of her body was ever found.

The old crime scene tape is torn and nearly gone when Diana gets there, but she still senses that Kinley is alive and begins to search for clues. Diana seems to have an unusual ability to find lost or missing objects and people. She hopes to be able to use this talent to find something that will lead her to find Kinley, her last unsolved case. She notices something on the ground close to the edge of the cliff and goes to investigate. As she reaches the spot and leans down to touch it, suddenly she is no longer in San Diego.

Diana finds herself in 14th century Scotland on the Isle of Skye. She looks up and finds herself surrounded by stones set in a circle. The place gives off a remarkably calming effect. She spots some little golden lights and follows the trail. The trail leads her to the hidden stronghold of Dun Aran. She immediately bumps into a man mountain of solid muscle considerably taller than her six foot frame. WOW! A greater surprise awaits her when she discovers Captain Kinley Chandler, now completely healed and married to the laird of clan McDonnel. Thus begins a fast-paced, well-crafted, time travel paranormal mystical adventure with evil villains to slay, misguided druids to straighten out, and a beautiful steamy, erotic love story. This is one that is definitely not a nighttime tale for the under eighteen year olds.

Congratulations Hazel Hunter on another spectacular series! I can't wit to dive into book 3. If you have not tried this series, do. 5 perfect golden stars from me!

Hazel Hunter continues her Immortal Highlander series with Tharaen and Diana's story. She brings Diana to Dun Aran and into Raen's life in a unique way. Diana uses her detective & druid skills from her life in missing person's department at the San Diego Police Department into use the world of historic Scotland. Learning from they're contact with Kinley a year before they have an idea of what they are dealing with. Diana gains a druid enemy on sight. Still they keep watch over her but every one is still shocked by her arrival. Like when Kinley arrived they are keeping secrets from each other and Diana is keeping a life altering one. As Diana and Raen adjust to their attraction to each other and Raen tries to pull away, Diana pursues. When she decides she wants to stay even though the druids say no the clan makes her apart of them and she uses her special tracking skills to help the clan locate missing allies and enemies alike. Raen and Diana set a trap for the undead and when she could've been hurt and words are exchanged, Diana heads out alone and comes across the strong hold of the undead. Before Diana and Raen can solve their disagreement she is tricked by a trusted friend and sent back to the future by her druid enemy. Arriving back in her original time she becomes sick and revealing her final secret, Tormod, Raen and Kinley go to rescue Diana from the future. Once back with the clan they make plans to go after the undead. To save her new family and the man she loves, Diana makes what is to be an ultimate sacrifice. Diana has also figured out that her enemy isn't actually her enemy and it's revealed who Kinley is related to as well. The druids aren't relying on only two family connections to prove their theory on why these women are coming back to the past. I have a feeling that the next three installments in the Immortal Highlander series will proof these druids right. I am looking forward to getting to know Tormod and the defector Evander and a new highlander Gavin in the next books in the series. Hazel has a hit series on her hands and think it can go on as long as she and her readers would like it too.

    Awesome second book

I prefer the first story to this one, but this book is still good. I just liked Kinley character better than Diana. But that is just my personal preference, not anything wrong with the story. In fact, it gave us a few hints at what could be coming in the next books with the women from the future.
When Diana first arrives at the keep an incident with the lead druid causes a lot of trouble. He doesn't tell anyone that he thinks she looks similar to someone who betrayed him in the past. He just lobbies to send her back to her own time.
The undead are gathering again and now they figured out how to make the mortals obey everything they say.
The hero in the story is Raen, the laird's bodyguard who got brought back from the brink of death in the last book.
Love the action and adventure in this series. I also love a man in a kilt that talks in a Scottish brogue. So this is the best of two worlds.

  • Frances Law

    Tracker!

Lieutenant Diana Burke stands 6 ft tall! She is a member of the Missing Persons Unit and has been on the case of Captain Kinley Chandler for a year. However, she is leaving the force and, after work, decides to take a drive up to where Kinley went missing. While there she trips over a tree root and finds herself in a different place. She quickly realises that she has no idea where she is and the only thing to do is to follow the sparkles that she is sure leads to Kinley.
Tharaen thinks that someone is in the castle but Diana is already halfway up the tower stairs before he sees her.
Things happen quickly then as everybody wonders how she got past the sentries and all the people in the hall! The chief Druid is also there and takes immediate exception to her presence!
Diana is lucky that Kinley has paved the way for her so we go pretty much right into the story. It's well written and will appeal to all readers of Scottish paranormal/time travel romance.

  • Rickie

She has always been at the forefront of finding what is lost, but Diana is in for a whole different experience once she falls through the portal. Raen was the Lairds bodyguard until one of their own betrayed them and left like a thief in the night. This is the beginning of a new adventure in this book of the series for "Immortal Highlanders". Hunter has excelled once again here with bringing magic back with this Highland/Druid scenario and her modern day heroines to help save the day. Upon meeting Diana, while she is following a trail that has pulled on her since arriving, Raen feels like he has been struck by lightning. You'll love the action, the humor, a different kind of betrayal, and the suspense will keep you turning the page for the next surprise.

I fully recommend Hunter and her books that have a wealth of flavor that will tap your tastebuds for a little bit more that is yet to come. Kudos!

  • Eve

I really adore this series so far! It's unlike anything I've ever read, immortal highlander, undead bloodsucking Romans and time travel, what more can a woman want? Lol!
Detective Diana Burke is on a mission to find Captian Kinley Chandler and she will stop at nothing to find her. The last place she expects to find her is medieval Scotland.
Bodyguard Tharaen Aber doesn't need another security problem but he gets it in spades when he meets the Detective.
In these books the immortal highlanders have a spirit in them that's attached to their tattoos, and Tharaen's spirit really likes Diana and has claimed her which causes some issues for the giant. He still mourns his mortal wife and he doesn't know if his heart can take the loss of another mortal lover.
The next book should be interesting since the main protagonist Evander is a traitor to his clan, I wonder how it's going to play out?

    >Book Review – Tharaen
    >I am an independent reviewer. This is the 2nd book in the Immortal Highlander series and ends in an HEA. Diana is a detective investigating the disappearance of Kinley for 2 years. She falls in to the portal and lands in Kinley’s new time. Raen is the Laird’s bodyguard. He was married a long time ago and is still in love with his wife, yet feels an attraction towards Diana.
    >Diana has a hidden talent helpful to the clan. She can track anything. The druids are afraid of her and want her gone, but in her present time, a brain tumor is killing her. Kinley and Lachlan appear in this story, which is fun. The battle with the undead culminates in Diana sacrificing all for love. The romance between Raen and Diana is epic and the chemistry hot.
    >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. The characters are fun and the story is exciting.

  • Pam Louis

OMG wow this is a 10 star story and I would love to see this in a movie! Don't miss it!
Lieutenant Diana Burke is over 6 feet tall and works at the missing persons unit at the San Diego police department. But that wasn't the only thing that made her special nope. She has Druid blood and a gift of finding lost things.

Tharaen or Raen is part if the McDonald's clan that had been killed by the Romans and the druids brought them back to life and cursing the Romans turning them into vampires
Now a power has brought them together sending Diana back in time.
Wow this is an awesome story full of action, drama, spice and a huge dose of mystery. Then there are the evil roman vampires, druids and hot Scottish men! You are so going to love them!
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

  • Susan

3.5 stars. Tharaen is the second book in the series Immortal Highlander and is a full length novel. This is can be read as a standalone, but there are so many more clan members stories to be told. There is violence and hot steamy sex scenes so 18+.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. The author did a great job of describing the setting and the main characters Tharaen (Raen) and Diane. There are a lot of clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading.

I look forward to reading more of this series. I received a copy of this book from the author and chose to leave a review for other readers.

Tharaen aka Raen is the bodyguard to Lachlan, laird of the McDonnel clan😁 When a woman finds her way to Dun Aran, AND also manages to make her way inside, no one is more surprised than Raen but also the druids that come bearing news😳

Diana is a cop and investigates missing person cases. A year after Kinley disappears she is still trying to solve her case, but instead finds herself in the 1400s and in Scotland and finally finds the person she’s been looking for🙃

A good story with some unexpected links between druids and the time travellers😉 I’m looking forward to the last few books in this series❣️

She is determined to solve her missing person case. She doesn't expect to be sent to another place in time where danger surrounds her but love offers her a different future.

This has been a fun series. I enjoyed the storyline that relates to the first book but is written in a way to be read easily as a standalone as well. It has a lot of action and suspense and a hot romance as well. I like the mythical elements that add an interesting mix to the storyline.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

2nd book in the Immortal Highlanders series. I loved the whole idea of hunky highlanders, women falling through a time warp, vampire Roman soldiers, druids etc. It packs it all into one series. Well written, stand alone books but there is some continuation from book one. The characters are well developed and likeable and the story line is always interesting. If you like a good, sexy, magical escapist read, this is it! I won't reiterate the story line as others have done that in much detail and will just say I loved it.

I received a free ARC copy of this book for review and here it is folks. AMAZING! Once again Hazel Hunter has brought the world of old to the present and not one single chapter will put you in the state of tiredness. This one is about Raen and Diana, and I just love how our ladies are well, hello, I am so not telling you what happens, just make sure you grab a copy and get ready for an adventure of a lifetime. You will be swept away with the story, trust me.

"I think I'm falling in love with you"
"I'll catch you with my heart when you do."

Is that not one of the most romantic things you have ever read? Tharaen and Diana are a great couple. This series continues to suck me in and leave me wanting the next book right now. I love how the perfect matches for these warriors from the past have been female "warriors" from the present.

*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*

Didn't bring the reader in as much as Lachlan did

This second book in the Immortal Highlander series seemed like a watered down version of Lachlan. You still have the druid female lead coming back through time. And of course another member of Clan McDonnel as the male lead. But their story was more rushed and felt thrown together. I'm sure I'll keep reading the rest of the series, if only to see what happens at the end.
