The Sirens of SaSS Anthology Reviews

  • Hanne

    House Arrest by Melanie Moreland

Jenny never expected that one drunken afternoon will end with her in Connor’s apartment and her being in a relationship with Connor. Connor and Jenny are neighbors. They are always friendly to each other and help each other whenever they can. They have a crush on each other, but didn’t say anything about it until that day. Things happen fast between Connor and Jenny, but it all feels right.

I loved House Arrest. It was sweet, fast paced and romantic. For a novella, there were still enough beautiful moments, steamy moments, funny moments and romantic moments. Jenny and Connor are incredible characters. Jenny is kind, caring, genuine and loving. Connor is hardworking, smart, protective and caring. Jenny and Connor belong together.

I will read other novellas in this anthology one day.

-- My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book. --

My notable reads from the anthology have to be the two novellas below -
House Arrest by Melanie Moreland - 4 Stars!
The Client by Jennifer L. Armentrout - 4.5 Stars! (I wish it had been longer though)

That said, I also discovered a couple of new-to-me authors that definitely deserve a second look. I won't lie and say I read all of the offerings contained within, but I enjoyed all of the stories I did, this little collection is absolutely worth the investment, and for a great cause as well.

ARC provided via Netgalley, (although I have pre-ordered a copy as well) in exchange for the above honest review.

Remember With Me by M.E. Montgomery

    Favorite Quote:

We fight hard, we play hard, but we love harder.

    My Review:

I read the emotive novella Remember With Me by M.E. Montgomery. It was my first time reading this scribe but I hope to make this practice a habit as I enjoyed her arrangement of words very much. The story moved quickly and kept me interested and intrigued by taunting me with missing information that I was curious to know. A cunning villain, sexy rockers, a second chance romance, and sizzling sensuality kept me engaged and unable to put my Kindle down until I reached that oh so satisfying HEA.

I'm very excited to have my novella HOT CHICK FOR HIRE as part of the Sirens with SaSS Anthology, releasing March 27, 2018. What's it about? Think Stephanie Plum meets James Bond then all sorts of sexy excitement ensues! My story in this anthology launches my new FOR HIRE series (a spin-off of my Hot SEALs series and containing cameos from some of your favorite characters).

    Hey all 🙂

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this for free in exchange for my honest review. I was so excited to read it since Jennifer Armentrout was a part of it. But reading it, the foreword definitely hit home with me and #SaSS18 is amazing, also supporting VETSports which is a wonderful charity.

So, on to the review itself. There’s some I’m just going to rate, others I will write a little blurb what I thought. Overall, I honestly loved this anthology.

The Siren’s Assistant by Amy Marie
This was a perfect example of totally inappropriate office etiquette and it was kind of fantastic.
    5 Stars

    Rekindle by Ann Mayburn
Gosh, I loved this story. Steamy, sweet as sugar and so so very realistic. I don’t normally read stories about married couples, but I honestly loved this so much.
    5 Stars

Hot Chick For Hire by Cat Johnson
This one seemed kind of weird to me, I would probably enjoy it more if I knew the series. Which means I’m totally reading that series.
    4 Stars

    Siren’s Kiss by CD Bradley
Nope, not impressed with this one. This little story just wasn’t for me.
    2 Stars

    Una Notte by Dani Rene
    This wasn’t my favorite either.
    2 Stars

    Hope Surfacing by D.D. Lorenzo
    3 Stars

    Shakedown by Elizabeth SaFleur
    3 Stars

The Client by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Obviously the main reason I’m reading this is because there’s a JLA story in it. Omfg, I am 100% here for this. This is something that I have never read from her before but I want more of it. So so much more.
    5 Stars

The Sidewinder’s Siren by Kat Mizera
This was one of those “well that escalated quickly” novels. Very sweet, but very fast.
    4 Stars
Rockstar On Pointe by Laci Paige
This just seemed a little too awkward for my tastes.
    3 Stars

The Sheriff and the Cougar by Lexi Buchanan

    (Review by Author)

What a great compilation of strong heroines and sexy, alpha heroes! I'm so pleased to be among so many talented authors for the debut of SUGAR, the first story in my SUGAR SERIES. And what an honor to contribute to an anthology that is donating all proceeds to Vet Sports. All in all, this is a fun romp of a read full of various sexy adventures you won't want to miss!

  • Wonder Tre Reads -Tre Harris

What an adventure we go on with so many amazing authors. I must say that it took me some time because it is a large anthology and there are some stores I favored more then others but overall it’s a great collection. The variety is what kept me going. A few of my favorites I’ll mention in this review. Una Notte by Dani Rene is one of my favorites, we’re given a sexy start to what I know can develop into one helluva full story. Hot Chick For Hire by Cat Johnson pulled me in and even though this is the first I’m reading of her work I understood the characters and can’t wait to get into her full series, I love the whole idea behind the secret operative I want to be part of GAPS. Rekindle by Ann Mayburn, let’s just say I would LOVE to find a bathing suit like that Megan is one lucky lady. Jason is definitely a man that is determined to make things with with his marriage and it’s refreshing to see. The Sheriff and the Cougar by Lexi Buchanan was sweet, the title alone shows that there’s no limit on age when it comes to love. Jesse has a heart of gold and I loved seeing the confidence Kat develops within herself. The Sidewinder’s Siren, oh my gosh this story had me gasping and smiling all at once, Lexi and Zann left me swooning. I feel that there’s something for everyone to enjoy, some will leave you aching and others with tears both happy and sad. Beautifully written and for such a great cause. I found a lot of new authors while reading these and that’s another amazing discovery when it comes to anthologies, an author you’ve never thought to read before can be a new favorite. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

  • Heather

Overall I really enjoyed the stories I have read in this set and it is a great value for a great cause.

The Siren's Assistant - Amy Marie
A short & sexy office romance that is a slow burn between Olivia and Mason until she needs a date to her sister's engagement party. Mason is the son of the boss and he is Olivia's assistant. He wants her and just needs to get her to loosen up and take a chance. When they get together, oh holy cow, burn down the building hot.

    Rekindle - Ann Mayburn
Josh and Megan are husband and wife who have drifted apart over the years due to her job. They must either find their way back to each other or risk their marriage. This was a very sweet but sexy story. Both still love each other very much. I loved the light bulb moment Megan has on her marriage and the passion between these two.

Hot Chick for Hire - Cat Johnson
Chelsea thinks she is interviewing for an escort job but it ends up being for an office manager for GAPS new DC office. Tristan, well Chelsea doesn't know who or what he is, other than hot as hell. She goes with Tristan to a night of unknown. I loved her reactions to and how well she handled that unknown. Oh and the explosive chemistry between these two! I can't wait to read more.

  • Dani

An amazing collection of some steamy, short stories that will leave you wanting more. Each author brings something different to this collection and I can't wait for everyone to devour these delicious novellas.

A few teasers from my prequel - Una Notte. My contribution introduces a brand new series which will be coming soon!

    4 Stars!

    The Review:
Sixteen short, but amazing stories! Sixteen talented authors! One must read anthology!

This was an excellent anthology, filled with sixteen different fun, sizzling-sexy-steamy stories from the attending authors of the SaSS signing! Some of the authors in this anthology are huge loves for me which is why I opted to read and review, but some of the authors I hadn’t read before and that’s one of the reasons why I love anthologies. They often have new and exciting stories from new-to-me authors, helping me to find fresh reads and fascinating book-boyfriends to get excited about. Some of the stories I enjoyed more than others, but this book was definitely a win! Plus the proceeds go to a worthwhile charity I can totally get behind, Vetsport.

  • Rhonda

Where do I start? There are so many good stories in this anthology. I found some new authors and read stories from authors I already love so this was great for me. Each story was good but Elizabeth SaFleur, Ann Mayburn, Maria Vickers and Sam JD Hunt's stories really stood out for me. I would love to see more anthologies like this. All in all, a wonderful collection that I high recommend.

  • Isha Coleman

Let the temptation commence. Sirens of Sass takes a walk on the wild side with an abundance of naughty to go with a hint of sugar. Get ready for a slow burn with inferno worthy results. Escape into a world of spicy stories where hormones are the dish of the day with a little side of heart.

  • Liz

This review is specifically for Remember Me by M.E. Montgomery. For a short story, it held quite the punch!

Drew and Emma love each other very much, but life, misunderstandings and circumstances got in the way and they went their separate ways. But once tragedy strikes, can they find their way back to each other?

This was such a sweet second chance romance between two people meant to be together. It was sweet and charming. A perfect quick read!

  • Linda

I received a copy of he first Novella in this anthology, "The Siren's Assistant", by Marie Anthony from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review .

This short story is a quick sexy read with an intresting plot line. Liv Marx is an Architect working at a architectural firm for the past year and her assistant just happens to be the son of one of her Bosses Mason Finn. Mason Finn happens to be an architect himself and assumed he would get an office once he graduated; however this father decided that Mason should work from the bottom up assigning him to Liv. Mason as Liv's assistant is on the office an hour earlier than her and stays later the sexual tension and friction between them runs high, but Live chooses tog ire it , until Mason starts pushing the boundary lines. The lines finally blur completely when Mason convinces Liv to let him be her date that she desperately need to her sisters engagement party, which she especially needs since her sister is marrying Liv's exboyfreind. Events that occur at said part user into motion the start of a hot and heavy weekend for these two; but what happens when Monday comes?
Now I am not going to tell y poi the ending you will just have to find out for yourself . I loved this short story; So with this group of authors I can only imagine how good the rest of this anthology will be.
I encourage you if you enjoy some scorching hot stories , to support this anthology and authors since , All proceeds from The Sirens with SaSS Anthology will benefit VETSports and will only be available for a limited time

  • Andrea Britton

So good! And for a great cause!!

What a great Anthology!! There are some new to me authors in this and a few I’ve read before. All these stories are great! Some are short second chances and some will leave you begging for more. I love that the proceeds for this are going to VetSports. I would highly recommend this anthology to any romance reader who love to find new authors. Five big stars to Remember With Me by M.E Montgomery. This is such a beautiful second chance story that will leave you breathless.

    Highly recommended.

  • Jennifer

The Sexy and Sassy Signing, hosted by Amy Marie and The Literary Gossip, is always a highlight of my year in the book community. The event is enjoyed and well-attended by readers and authors alike, and always benefits a selected charity. Now that SaSS has entered its fourth year, the organizers have expanded their horizons by publishing an anthology of stories, contributed by authors appearing at this summer’s signing in Norfolk, Virginia.

Proceeds from The Sirens of SaSS will benefit VETSports.org. This charity aims to set the standard for how to improve the physical, mental, and emotional health of veterans through sports, physical activity, and community involvement. Using sports as a catalyst, the organization brings thousands of veterans together and provides them with continuous opportunities to reintegrate into their communities through community service, events, and partnership.

This anthology includes a moving foreword by Hazel James, a stirring poem by Julie Mishler, and 16 novellas. The book is dedicated to “all the beautiful and strong daughters, sisters, and mothers …” and all stories feature heroines who are strong, feisty, and alluring. All could be characterized as Sirens, gorgeous beings who lure their heroes in with their irresistible femininity. But unlike the characters of Greek mythology, the women featured in these stories do not destroy the men they attract. They challenge their lovers as they also nurture them.

Different readers prefer different types of stories, and there is a wide variety of them in this anthology. In the course of reading this novel, I discovered new writers and read new works from my favorite authors. Standouts to me included The Siren’s Assistant by Amy Marie, Rekindle by Ann Mayburn, The Client by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Rockstar On Pointe by Laci Paige, Sugar by Lydia Michaels, and House Arrest by Melanie Moreland.

At over 800 pages, The Sirens of SaSS anthology is an ebook bargain at $0.99, but I encourage you to purchase the paperback and support the veterans this book is meant to help. After all, what’s better than donating to a worthy cause while also indulging in one of life’s greatest joys? I’ll be in Norfolk this July and will bring my own paperback to collect autographs and share my thanks with everyone who took time to work on this incredible project. A job very well done!

I was one of the lucky few who got their hands on this amazing collection of stories, and let me tell you that just the sheer volume of this book made my kindle heavy! And knowing that the proceeds from the sale is going to VETSports elevates this book to a totally different level.

    Now to the review.

In total honesty, except Dani Rene, all of these authors are new to me. Going in I was a little intimidated and apprehensive on how each author could keep their voice unique. Fortunately, I was completely blow away with each story and how distinctive they were from each other. I felt like I was meeting new characters and glimpsing into their lives, their happiness, their pain and struggle and sheer determination to find happiness.

Some of stories I loved, some made me mad (in a totally good way), some stories were good, but overall each and every story grabbed me from the get go and made me want to continue to read to find out what happens next.

This anthology has introduced me to so many new characters and writing styles that I am really glad I got my hands on this book. Seriously, get this book because, one - you'll be donating to a great cause, and two - who doesn't want to read some sexy saucy short stories?

  • Andi

I read The Sidewinder’s Siren by Kat Mizera. It’s hard to put into words how sweet, heartwarming & realistic this story is. I absolutely love the Sidewinders Series & have read all books related to this series. We met Lexi in a previous novella as she was struggling with a breast cancer diagnosis at 16. My heart broke for her & her family & I was so happy to have an update for Lexi & to see just how strong she is. I love the way Zaan & Lexi bonded. They treated each other like regular people would instead of a girl with Cancer & a star athlete. Zaan has such strong & uplifting words to Lexi about her condition & her struggles. I cannot wait for these two to be reunited!

  • Lizzie_Loves_Books

What an amazing collection of HOT, Steamy short stories. Absolutely amazing from start to finish. For me in my honest opinion there was not one story I didn't enjoy it all.

I loved being introduced to new authors and looking forward to getting more from some of these stories.

This collection is worth one clicking as I can personally say I couldn't put it down. All stories were different however they all had one thing in common.... ADDICTIVE. I was hooked to them all.

  • Nicki - The Overflowing Bookcase
