From USA TODAY bestselling author and seven time Amazon All Star author, another page-turning cozy murder mystery!

What would you do if your sister's husband of twelve hours, Clark, was considered a suspect by the police in connection with his rich Uncle Vinny's murder? And the rich uncle just happened to be a member of the Mob?

DeeDee has no choice but to enlist the help of her boyfriend Jake, a private investigator, as well as Al, Uncle Vinny's scary bodyguard, to help her find the murderer and clear Clark's name.

It could have been a number of people, but which one? Was it Uncle Vinny's cousin or his wife? Uncle Vinny had a lot of money, and although he hadn't come by it legally, the color was still green. Or the rogue cop whose father had ended the prostitution rings in Seattle, but was certain Uncle Vinny was the person who had resurrected them. Or perhaps Clark's business colleague who was jealous of Clark's recent promotion? Maybe it was the wedding planner who resented everything Uncle Vinny was giving the newlyweds, particularly the house on Queen Anne Hill. Or even Clark himself? After all, Uncle Vinny gave a toast at the wedding declaring him to be the sole heir of his substantial fortune

I enjoyed this book. The story starts with the murder and then goes back in time , with the lead up to the murder and you are introduced to a number of suspects before the murder is solved. This can be a bit confusing if you are not use to the authors style of writing but otherwise works well. I am listening to this series as and when they come out so not in the correct order, so it was great to finally met Al who plays a big part in later books, he is such a great character and so larger than life. The mystery it's self gives you plenty of suspects, the one thing I didn't like so much was the sudden ending, it seemed to just abruptly come to an end with an usual out come, although with the job involved it wasn't unexpected.
DeeDee's little sister is getting married and having her dream wedding all paid for by the Grooms Uncle Vinny. DeeDee is shocked to learn that Vinny made his money by belonging to the Mob.The ex mob man still has his fingers in a few pies and when he turns up dead at the wedding there is no end to the list of suspects. DeeDee gets a frantic phone call from her sister to say rather than going on her honeymoon the groom was being taken in for questioning. DeeDee and boyfriend Jake get some help from Vinny's bodyguard Al when they set out to clear the Grooms name.
I liked the narrator she uses distinct voices for each of the characters.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

In my humble opinion this is one of the best novels yet by Dianne Harman in her cozy series! I have a feeling the Blue Coyote Motel will always be my absolute favorite-if you haven't read it you should!!). And yes--I have read most if not all her books and honestly loved them all.

There are a lot of twists and turns in this one and you will be amazed at the strange bedfellows it takes to solve the murder of a member of the mob whose nephew is marrying DeeDee's little sister!

I'm not going to say any more--going to keep you in suspense--I really think you should grab a copy of this one and read it pronto!

Hours after the wedding Uncle Vinney is found floating in the lake at the wedding venue by his body guard Al. So who killed Uncle Vinney? The suspect list get longer and longer. The Northwest Cozy Mystery series is a pleasant read; the books are short. This also means that the mysteries are not too comples or twisty; there's not enough room for that. They are more down-to-earth and straight forward. But there are plenty of possible guilty parties and/or red herrings.

This one touches on former underworld figures, weddings, families, loyalty, and includes recipes!

Yes, I'll continue the series, even though I frequently have had to go out of state with an interlibrary loan to find some of the volumes.

    Avery good Cozy mystery.

I really enjoy Dianne's mystery books. She has an easy way of telling a tale. This was set in my part of the country and is fun to know the area. An expensive wedding receptions is the scene of crime, the grooms uncle is shot in the back and he is the main suspect because his uncle just named him his sole heir. It was fun to try an figure who dunnit.

In this series most of the suspects are bitter, angry, resentful, some feel entitlement, nonw of them will take responsibility for their actions or their circumstances in life. But... as the story progresses some of these suspects actually start learning from their mistakes and overcoming their problems and wanting to change. I really like this series a whole lot!!! I think Ms Harman is a really terrific writer and I am so glad I found this series!!

This is the 3rd in the series. The main characters are DeeDee, Jake, her sister Roz and Al. Roz gets married to Clark and that same night her new hubby's uncle is murdered. Of course everyone thinks Clark did it because his uncle was very rich. Al sets off the find the killer and avenge his boss's life before the cops can figure out a way to pin it all on Clark. Can he figure who did it with everyone's help in time ?

  • Gena - My Book Reviews for You

This was a fun cozy mystery with a serious murder and some humor throughout the story. DeeDed is excited about her sister’s upcoming wedding. But things get a little out of hand when the groom’s uncle Vinny is found murdered shortly after the wedding. There’s more than one person who could have killed him. And there are a lot of colorful characters especially since the deceased was a member of the mob. DeeDee and her boyfriend Jake join up with Al to find out who killed Vinny.

Although I am a new fan of Ms. Harman's, I have enjoyed all of the books in this series. I like the way she develops had plots and they are well though out. This new book was placed in Seattle and I enjoyed reading about places I have been to in that area. I liked Al, too.

    Different approach to series

I liked the characters but plot was a little weak. Not quite the same sense of place but very interesting. I liked Al & hope he returns in another installment.
