I liked where the author was going with this world building. But that's all. The first half of this short novel would have sounded infinitely better if it were in first person, but the last half was just so rushed. There was zero character development; I didn't know theses characters at all.

Ok yet another new author to me and yet when I checked she seems to be quite well established so I'm surprised I hadn't discovered her work earlier. Since paranormal romance seems to be in decline recently( hangs head in sorrow) I am increasingly reading more sci fi romance stories. This author seems to enjoy devising all manner of storylines involving aliens so clearly a must read for me.
So this was a freebie and a good way to sample the authors style. Very short so it's a tad difficult to truly assess what other stories she might write. It starts with a young human woman being chased through trees but the next thing she knows she is far far away and this Dorothy (Layla) is most definitely not in Kansas anymore!
I really cannot say too much as it would reveal far too much of the plot. Yes it's an alien captive theme but I really liked the twist at the end. I would have preferred a bit more dialogue if honest but kept reading as I was curious where the story was going. I suspect there are more books to come which hopefully will add depth to this world the author has created and if so would hope to see a resolution to the conflict this book ends with. Not exactly a cliff hanger but possibilities are definitely there. For now though it's a happy ending with romance and a whole new world for Layla to explore.
Bottom line is its a quick read, the romance was expected but the ending wasn't quite as predictable as some.

Quick lil story that starts with abduction and ends with love.
I've never read this series so I was surprised at some things like the gems the aliens are born with glowing like moodrings. The story progressed rapidly so I did enjoy it but I didn't have time to develop a connection with the characters.
This is my unbiased opinion as thanks for the author allowing me to review her work. -

A quick and mostly pleasant read.
The last thing Layla remembers before waking up tied down to a stone is her memory of running away from something. A strange alien man visits her but leaves her with even more questions. Then when the reality of her situation is exposed, Layla learns that she has been chosen to be the mate of the youngest alien prince of the planet she currently resides. Yikes.
This isn't a long story yet it does get a bit complex. We're thrust right into the action as some of the story has already happened before we're introduced to our characters. And we really only get to know the heroine here. The hero remains a mystery even until the last few pages. There is a pretty high level of suspense here because we don't know much about the customs of these people and some of them are strange. Even dangerous.
As for the romance, it felt quick to form because most of it happens off-screen and we don't really see it. But for such a short story, I thought it wrapped up pretty well. It impressed me enough that I continued reading the second book that was included and now I'm starting one of the author's other sci fi series. So this was a nice introduction to her writing.

Oy gevolt, where should I start?
1. World building - none. We are somewhere in Cassiopea Constellation with purple sun, and that is that.
2. Half in to the book and I still have no idea what both MC and FC look like except that MC assumedly human- like, since he and his brothers frequently visited Earth and easily blended in, and both are very beautiful.
3. Worst case of Galactic Stockholm Syndrome and insta- love.
4. Character - what character? Jiri, our MC is a whimp who is bullied by his brothers and keeps running, rushing and jumping. Layla, who have been abducted from Earth to be Jiri's ' nurturer' ( concubine, servant, slave) have personality of ameaba.
5. Dumb factor - off the chart. Layla is in the planet with Cassiopian Prince and what comes out of her mouth?
"Cassiopea is a constellation. It is just stars. There are no planets in it"
My brain cells were deminishing faster than you can say ' Space junk '. DNF as pure self - preservation. -
It was well written and a great start to the novel. Jumped right into the action. But then all the sudden it felt like it was rushed. I think it could of gone on for a couple more chapters. Then have the same lovely ending.
Layla can't remember anything of her past. She knows she's from Earth. She's a human... and that's it. Now she must be prepared by the other nurturers for a young Prince named Jiri. Who is he and will he be kind to her since she doesn't remember anything at all. Or for that fact how do you nurture a Prince? -
A romance sci-fi. The setting was interesting, but could have been developed more. I rad a 41 pp pdf of the story. This has open door sex, but the warning was longer than the sex scenes.

This book went from top to bottom in a heartbeat. It started of being a five star book to barely a two star book and it took only like three pages for it to turn. Although the story was so short to begin with that maybe that’s not so surprising.
It started of so so good. There was suspense and excitement with Layla waking up in another world with amnesia, trying to come to grips with basically becoming a slave. The world build was beautiful and unique. Even the plot behind the story was intriguing. Then, with a sudden turning point out out of nowhere it became sloppy, so extremely rushed and just plain awkward. There was no depth to anything in the story. Not the plot, the relationship or the personalities for the characters. The author tried to convince the reader that Layla and Jiri were in love, but there was nothing in the book indicating anything deeper than sexual tension between them. Even that came pretty much out of nowhere. One second she was his slave and the next they where doing it. Where is the romance in that exactly?
What bothered me the most is how sexist this book felt. The message of the story is basically that we women has it as a job to “nurture” our men and then they might fall in love with us. There was nothing in the book indicating that being a slave to Jiri was wrong and the sexism was not even written as a problem. The author thought being his slave was a good step towards Layla falling in love with him and she did not seem to mind that the “relationship” was not of equality. That’s just twisted. In a bad way.
If the author had not worked so hard on making this a short story, this plot -this idea - might have turned out pretty good. As a full book she could have had better development and depth to the ... well, to everything. She just rushed too much to get to the ending when she wrote this that it became very stilted and shallow. She might even have ended it better. This ending that we have now is just so empty and unrealistically cheesy. -
As the book first started i was totally involved in the story of Layla, from earth being taken against her will to serve an alien prince ,Jiri, in every and any way he desired. Through alien stones implanted in her chest her will was taken from her along with her memory, or at least as much or little of it as her prince desired. Unlike his brothers, Jiri desired his nurturer, and fell in love, His brothers were cruel, and Jiri longed to change the traditions of his people. As the book progressed and Jiri and Layla fell in love. the book became more complicated. More alien species appeared, the history of their existence, the meaning of the stones, and a change in power and the women called nurturers all faces new futures. So many changes and on the verge of war, it was left open at the end. I did enjoy the book relationships between the species and the males and females. Much more to this series

This was a super short story that apparently has been turned in to a series of 3 short stories. At least I think they're all short.
Anyway, its about a Prince who is unhappy with the traditions of his people. He doesn't like the practice of picking a nurturer. Prince Jiri is a lover not a fighter. His brothers all have their nurturers and treat them like the slaves they are meant to be. When its Jiri's coming of age moment to pick his nurturer he resists. But tradition is tradition and he picks Layla. A human he had been watching for a while.
Layla doesn't remember anything before running. Running through the forest with the feeling something was chasing her. It's not long before she is introduced to her new life as Jiri's nurturer.
This story was quick and I liked it but it skipped ahead so much and skipped the relationship building so much that I'm not really invested in these characters enough to read any more of their story. -

Waking up Lyla couldn't remember anything, not where she came from or how she got where she was. Jiri just wished the day was over but his father was set in his mind. Jiri was coming of age and it was his time to take a nurture, a slave for his own. He knew this day was coming but he wished it never would.
This was a fast passed romance. I loved how Jiri stood up for how he felt. Laya was strong in the face of what was going on. This book has little triggers (1 on a 1-10 / 10 being the worst) -
Earth woman Layla is chased down like a dog by a bunch of robed figures. Layla blacks out, and when she comes to, she finds herself tied down to a stone table and she can just manage to see a sunset that is totally the wrong colors for earth.
She has been taken to a castle on a planet in Orion's belt, and she has been chosen to take care of the youngest prince, a human slave, according to the terrified women who help her clean up after her trip.
She meets Jiri, the prince she is to care for. He is not abusive and only asks for a massage every evening.
When she has the opportunity to leave or stay, how will she choose when all the other women who care for the rest of the brothers are bruised or bloodied and terribly frightened all the time? -
I am really excited to read the box set - this was the first story in that set
It is a short read that sets the tone for the series and introduces us to the characters and what possible role they will play in the series -it also shines a little light on who our antagonist most likely will be - and I don't think I am going to like him at all!
Scott did a great job of getting you attached to the characters and leading you into the story as well as keeping you engaged throughout- even with it being such a quick read there were some serious surprises hidden in these pages- I already have so many questions I am hoping will be answered in books 2 and three -
I really enjoyed this one. Not only does it have some truly interesting characters that are well written and fleshed out, but the author has created a fantastic universe to play in, surrounding our own planet.
I was almost more interested in the second couple than in the first, but they were both fascinating. The premises the author has come up with have me adding these books to the top of my TBR list! The sensual scenes between couples are written in a classic style that lends a great touch to the story. As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, I give it four and a half hearts. I really, really liked it but just didn't quite love it. -
Layla can't remember where she came from all she remembers is running and her bare feet and cold but she wakes up on a cold stone and sees a blue man she never has laid on eyes before then he is gone and there are women telling her she has been chosen to nurturer the prince and take care of him and she is wondering if she will every go back to her place she can't remember what a wild sexy exciting read brings you in and you never want it to end. Taken For The Alien Prince by Ruth Anne Scott is a good, short science fiction romance. I enjoyed this book and thought it had a lot of potential but I really feel that the length of the book caused a series lack of character development and caused the story not to be as filled out as it could have been. I am very interested in seeing other works by this author because I did like this. I just wish that this book had more to offer. I am posting a voluntarily review of an ARC copy of this book.

Capturing A Slave
A coming of age ritual for a young prince. He does not feel as the rest of his family does about the ritual due to his actions they will affect another person’s life.
It was a somewhat differently written alien for lack of a better word romance. I found it hard to get into the story as I thought is dragged a little in the beginning. The story picked up and finished better than I thought it would. Overall, I gave the story a 3 stars. -
This was an interesting read and I enjoyed it. It was definitely fast paced but I enjoyed the characters. I just wished this was a little longer so we could see more between the characters. I would have love more story to go with this insta-love. If you're looking for a short steamy read that will only take a few minutes to get through this is for you.

Layla is human and taken from Earth to be the nurturer of an alien prince Jiri. Jiri is not like his brother's who are cruel to their nurturers and treat them like slaves. He doesn't like the customs of his people and wants Layla to decide if she truly wants to be with him. Lovely love story with HEA.

I really enjoyed this story!
The only criticism was it was too short, but it was written well except for the story ending just failed to give me everything I wanted. I would still recommend this story because it has potential and I look forward to reading the next story in the series. -
A good, short story about two species starting a life together. This is a love-at-first-sight few people get to experience. Layla and Jiri met at the right time and were destined to be together. A nice, short & sweet story line.

Very short and ready more like an outline. Layla wakes up with no memory. She was chosen by prince. They fall in love. And all is right with the world. Oh and the aliens have some mood ring birthmark stones.
Just kind blah with no feeling. -
This is the first time that I have tried this genre.
It took awhile to get into the story, plus I wasn't sure
about Jiri. Overall it was a good introduction in the series
and I will continue on to see what happens with Jiri, Layla
and the others. -
Uniquely written
This is a very good book with the author going into detail for each character and surroundings without making it boring. This is the the first Ruth Anne Scott book I have read but I can guarantee it won't be the last, I think I have a new favorite author.
