Edit: I re-read this at a more relevant time, fantastic read.
A great introduction to fitness, in an easy to understand way. With motivation, information, and an author who actually knows what he is talking about in regards to fitness.
A breath of fresh air in this genre, and also so nice to hear an accent that's not American in the fitness industry. "YOU CAN GET A 6 PACK IN TWO WEEKS" that's not this book and thank god for that.
Now I've been introduced to Brian Keane I'm now listening to his podcasts, which are fantastic!

Basic information on food, exercise and mindset. Good and condensed read, but not that much of a value if you are not a beginner.
It worked well as a quick refresher for me, but I think it lacks depth on the discussed ideas. -
The Fitness Mindset, as the name suggests is a book about Fitness and Mindset. Which is to say that the physical health and the mental health go hand in hand, they complement and supplement each other.
The book is divided in two sections. The first section discusses how to manage your physical health with nutrition, supplements, sleep, hydration, and training. I found this part to be extremely helpful. I believe if you are someone like me who has never give dingo's kidney worth of attention to learning about how human bodies work then this book would be a great help. Reading this, I realized the urgent need in my life to add supplements, looking at my diet. I understood the why behind how training works. But most importantly, reading this motivated me to finally hit the gym. I have never felt this way before, the way I feel these days with running, lifting weights, and playing table tennis, also while being a little mindful about what I put in my mouth. The endorphins that release when you do physical work can really make you feel happy. No wonder why so many people in the world use gym to burst stress.
The second section deals with how to create habits, how to manage stress, anxiety, and worry. The author offers some of the life lessons that he has learned through reading books, attending courses, and listening to podcasts. Now again, if you are someone like me who has read countless books on this subject then you'd find this part of the book to be just okay. But to some people, it could be of great help.
All in all, I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend to all the novices who are looking forward to develop a fitness mindset. -
This was really an interesting read about how extremely important ones mindset is in committing to making life changes for optimal health.

Summary
It's a good read for beginners starting with there fitness journey. The book is divided in two parts
- Physical Strength
- Mental Strength
The author have explained importance of both the aspects in his book. Than he have given his own personal suggestion and tips which have helped him to achieve the fitness goal in his life.
My favorite line from the book
Though I like multiple quotes from the book, but I really liked the one below-
"Happiness comes from within, it’s not a tangible thing. A nice car, a new house, an attractive partner – none of these things in themselves bring true ‘happiness’ or ‘fulfilment’. They’re external sources that can be taken away with a blink of an eye. Sure, they’re nice for a little while and your ego will happily take the nice comments, but again, those sweet comments are simply words from other people. If other people’s comments are what’s making you happy, then you’re always going to need something external or superficial to retain that happiness. Learn to find the happiness from within and you will always be happy."
Conclusion
Overall its a good and short read. Go for it if you are looking for something to start or improve with your fitness journey. -
A very agreeable and great introductory book on diet, fitness, and the mental fuel to keep both going. Doesn’t preach, but rather equips readers with the basic vocabulary, principles, and a few options out there — so that readers can make an appropriate choice that fits their body type, goals, and lifestyle. Unless a reader is familiar with most of the content already, I don’t see why they wouldn’t benefit from this short read.

Really good introductory book in understanding how your body works and makes sense of the phrase, “80% diet and 20% exercise”. The first half the book gives you a good sense of how your body breakdowns the different nutrients that enter your system and how it processes them to enhance your basic functionalities. The latter half was a nice bonus into simply living life and how exercise and routine can translate into being an overall healthier person.

Easy, informative and a pleasant read. Could have gone more in-depth, especially on the workout and mindset part. Would recommend for all who are new to fitness as the nutrition part of the book is the definitive best part and will help beginners a lot.

This is a great supplement or starter pack to a fitness journey you are either just starting on or trying to get going, or for if you are finding yourself in a stall after a few months without progress.
Keane couples personal experience with practical bites of knowledge that you can go away and take action on immediately, and provides the initial understanding about nutrition, diet, meal planning, exercising and mental well being that all readers can benefit from.
Great to dip in and out of, practical and thoughtful, but also easy to read through in a sitting. Recommend! -

Actually I got this book by a mistake. However, read this book is a good read. This book is about fitness, but I found it is simple, not complicated with full of images and tons of information and instructions like many others book about fitness that have bad impression on me. The explanation about the crucial factors of fitness is clear, it answer questions "what, why and how" is just enough in details, at least for me. And the especially, beside technical factors of fitness, half of the book talks about the mental factors that I think is more important. I am actually is a runner, not a body builder which should be the target of this book. I am also experienced of the problems which the book mentioned and somehow I understand it and found it really helpful. Finally, the part at the end of the book about 10 life lessons worth reading again and again for motivation and finding a way in life.

I really bounced off this one. I only bought this because the author had hosted a podcast with one of my favourite fitness experts on it.
He started off by saying that supplements should not really be necessary because you can get most nutrients from from food and then went on to list a large number of supplements and how to take them.
The section on mental attitude was interesting but when he said one should read Marcus Aurelius and Seneca every evening - I did splutter in my coffee whilst thinking - how dull!

Best fitness book I read this year. Easy to read and understand, great nutrition information and the supplement section was also useful. I now train better, eat better and feel amazing with less effort and less time. Good for women as well. So many of the books I have read on fitness are geared towards young men. I am a 54 year old woman and found heaps of great advice and useful tips in the book.

A solid book that combines - as the title signifies - food, exercise and mindset. There are no great revelations in this book, but it does provide everyone with a starting point - a foothold - into changing diet, movement cultures and ways of thinking. Many of these books start with the assumption that the reader is an elite athlete. This book offers an opportunity for someone struggling to move differently - to find a pathway to change.

Tác giả cũng nói ra 1 thứ quan trọng là mục tiêu. Việc mình liên tục fail chuyện ra gym chủ yếu là vì mình cũng không quyết tâm vụ giảm cân mấy, vì sâu trong mình nghĩ như Adele, khỏe là tốt rồi, lười tập vkl :))) -
Basic entry point to Nutrition, Gym and Mindset
Had I read this book 5 years ago, it may have been more useful. Not a lot of detailed info you can include in just over 100 pages. Personally, I would have preferred if Brian took the time to release 3 separate books (Nutrition, Gym work and Mindset) diving into more detail. -
Light, quick read. It touches many areas that contribute to us being healthy and happy, so it's quite broad and doesn't get too much in detail. It gives a nice overview.
I think it would be useful to determine which areas you want to work on, and then you can get deeper into the specifics with some other books or resources. -
A good holistic look on Physical and mental fitness
This book provides a holistic oversight on what is needed to be fit, both mentally and physically. I particularly liked the last few chapters, where it emphasised the importance of "finding your why", and reaching a mindset of success in your particular field - definitely recommend!
