This book is a slight departure from my usual reviews, but I was so excited to be able to read this book as an ARC! I have long admired Rosemary Gladstar’s other herbal remedy/medicine books, and as my husband was recently diagnosed with some health problems I was eager to see what things might be out in the herbal world more specifically for him. As Rosemary notes in her opening, most herbals focus on women MUCH more heavily than men, and in general you run across more women in alternative medicines and fields.

The book covers many topics of interest to men, including of course virility, prostate issues, memory functions, heart health, and many others. It is much more in depth than
Rosemary Gladstar's Medicinal Herbs: A Beginner's Guide (naturally), but it “matches” the cover very nicely! I’ve pre-ordered a copy. The photography is PHENOMENAL. Seriously, I would buy it just for the pictures. There are recipes and case studies, but while Rosemary alludes to scientific studies, I couldn’t find any actual citations for them in the book. If you’re researching this kind of thing, you’re probably already aware of the sad state of affairs when it comes to scientific studies of natural/herbal healing and medicine, so perhaps this is not surprising, BUT I would have greatly appreciated better end notes and citations. Things like that are very important, as many doctors and the general public are still convinced that the only positive influence anything other than a pill has on a person is due to the placebo effect. Rosemary Gladstar and (obviously) many other herbalists, whether professional or amateur, believe otherwise…but it is not enough to believe, and in the scientific world case studies alone are not enough evidence. Due to the lack of notes, I knocked off one star. However, if you have done your research elsewhere this is an awesome book to add to your shelf for the dozens of recipes and suggestions within, whether you’re male yourself or you have men in your life that you love and care for. Be well!

P.S. This was originally supposed to be released on May 31, 2017, but now GoodReads has the release date as July 11 so I’m confused and publishing my review as originally planned.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC for review. My opinions were not influenced in any way.

A decent beginner's book. Lots of lolly recipes with stealth herbs at tbe start of the book should perk up the interest of some.

Not really an herbal though there is a very brief section at the back. Mainly a book os starter recipes, but the unusual focus on mens health makes it a valuable contribution.

This is a good book for people just getting into herbs, especially men and those who live with them. It would make a great gift for a man who is interested in herbs. However, many of the sections are nearly identical to those in some of Gladstar's other books (particularly "Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health") and most of the new information is focused on male sexual health (boners), so this may not be the best book for someone who has read a few other herbalism books.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As an addition to Rosemary Gladstar's previous books, this one focuses on men's health and how some herbal remedies can be used. Not as detailed as I would like, but still gave me some new insights into the use of herbs.

This slim volume series are great for laypeople wanting specific recipes for specific populations.

Gladstar has done a great job of offering a well-rounded volume on men's health from an herbalist's perspective. As she mentions in her book, men's health doesn't get nearly as much bandwidth as women's health. I think many men would find this book very accessible to work with and I tried out a few of the formulas on my husband with good feedback.

Rosemary Gladstar is one of my favorite authors when it comes to Herbal Remedies or related books. I have read few of her books and when I saw this, I absolutely couldn't wait. So, when I saw this book listed on Net Galley, I of course requested it and Storey Publishing was king enough to grant my request.

From my reviews, you already know Alternative Medicine is one of my interests, a reason I am pursuing it academically. All the recipes listed in this book, coupled with detailed instructions and colorful pictures are a real treat.

The recipes are easy and I have tried a few from this book, especially for Energy balls, Elixer Recipes and what not. I really like her recipes are fairly easy to follow and the detailed instructions, including tips for determining dosage make this book ideal for amateurs and practitioners alike! A must have in every home.

**I was kindly gifted an eARC in ex change for an honest review through Net Galley by Storey Publishing.

Provides basic information on ailments and ways to proceed with treatments. Alas key ingredients listed are often not native to North America, where the book was written and published, making most of the recipes difficult and costly to prepare. As we look to heal our bodies, the best medicine can often be found near our homes, with many plants serving multiple purposes on our life journey.

It would be great to see a revised edition using indigenous plants to the NA region to reducing the dependence of fossil fuels and other harmful actions to mother earth on the journey while caring for our physical bodies.

This is the First book by Rosemary Gladstar that I have read and it won't be my last! The setup of this book was very easy to follow and the recipes sound great.

I agree that men do not frequently get the focus that they need in the world of herbal information and as my husband has been diagnosed with a few ailments I am looking forward to trying some of these recipes to see if they will help him.

*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

One of the best ones for men's health that I've seen... and there are few!

I particularly liked the root cleansing ones - most men don't like the "herb-y" idea, but these seemed to work better (read: taste better) than any others I've tried.
