Moon Sworn is an introduction to 'The Bound Series', (Heated Shifter Romance). The story and the characters continue throughout the PNR Serial. (Not a standalone).

At 4-years old Maya Rawlings witnessed her own father horrifically murder her mother. Brought up by an older aunt she knows nothing of her family history.

She wants a family of her own to make up for all that she's lost, but it's difficult to achieve when she's not attracted to anyone. That is until the night of her 21st birthday when a strange mark appears on the palm of her hand. The mark was followed by re-currant nightmares of fleeing for her life, and the voice of a man offering her things she's always dreamed of. Is he real or is she finally losing her mind?

Jaden Matthews is a loner who never settles in one place. He doesn't do forever, not after the murder of his parents and younger brother. That is until fate decides to step in and a mark appears on his hand, it seems he now has a mate.

After waiting for 21-years for her to mature, the clock is now ticking. First, he needs to find her and his search leads him back to a place he'd vowed never to return. He's not the only one there hunting her though.

Can he use his skills to not only get rid of the threat to her life but also persuade her to agree to the binding? Or will he be destined to walk a limited lifespan alone, as the animal he becomes?

Contains erotic scenes and profanity.

I love discovering a new shifter series, this is a series by an author I haven't read before so you never know what to expect! I dived in and liked how Jaden was communicating with Maya, telepathically. They had never met but they are mates and upon their first meeting it got hot and heavy quickly, it seemed a little one sided at one point and made me a little uncomfortable, but then it is Paranormal and animals act differently, and Jaden felt bad, so don't be put off by that scene as you will miss out on a good read.

He was leaving his mark, as well as his scent, all over her, before this was over. He would make sure no other male would dare come near her, which at least would appease the cat, and the man, if he were being honest. The cat was hissing and clawing at him, incensed by the abhorrent scent of another male on his female. However, the man, he was disgusted with his own behaviour, and not being able to control it. Jaden was riddled with shame that he could have treated her so roughly, ignoring her fear and anxiety.

Maya is not a tame woman, so Jaden has his hands full getting to know her a little more. They are mates so the call to mate is strong between them but there is danger around and a few surprises too.

"Daniel, you just called out Daniel?" he looked at her again and realised her eyes were laughing at him. "Well as you decided it was okay to get in my pants while I was asleep, I decided it was okay to pretend you were someone else."

I mentioned they communicate a lot in their heads and I loved it's like couples texting in modern contemporary romances. It does get difficult for them as shielding thoughts is a skill to learn.

'Maya, if you don't like my thoughts, stay the fuck out of my head.' He snarled, showing her a mental picture of a she-cat with horns, and she threw him back an image of him with a flaccid dick and his balls swollen and dark blue.

Jaden is quite an alpha male, apparently a rich one too but meeting his mate takes its toll on him and a softer side is discovered. Maya discovers a lot about herself through the book and we get to meet quite a few other characthers, some very interesting ones.

"You are mine. You were given to me," he used his other hand to trace the mate mark on her palm with his thumb. "This is my proof that you are mine, and this." He told her, holding up his own hand, showing her his own mark. "This is the proof that I am yours."

I like the shifter world the author has set up, the men may be alpha but the women have all the power - not going to explain exactly how as that would be a spoiler!

The book doesn't end exactly where I would have liked but its a series and looks like book 2 starts where this one finished. Looking forward to diving into book 2.

    4 Stars - give it a go.

    Awesome

New to me Author that I must read more of. Great characters and plot. Off to one click more books.

    Absolutely brilliant!
Warning, this book gets very hot, very fast!
The chemistry between Maya and Jaden was off the charts from the second they met.
I love shifter stories, but I often find them lacking in depth; not this one. This has the romance, humour, suspense, and fear all rolled into one.
I really felt for Maya having being left on her own from such a young age, but Jaden also. KNowing what happened to his family and then living his life over two centuries all by himself... Heartbreaking.
Finding Maya is everything he needs to fill the void inside him, but there are enemies who want to see him fail, and see Maya dead.
I love how this book ended and I can't wait for the next installment!

    Great start

It's a good start I just wish there was more to it. It seemed rushed and condensed. I will continue to read because what there was peaked my interest so onto the next book!

WOW, this book is superb! Shifters, vampires and witches living side by side with unsuspecting humans in the seemingly quiet village of Lunaton. Murder and mystery stalk this little village, at the same time as two people realise their lives are inextricably entwined, and that they must bind themselves to each other before the next full moon, or suffer the consequences. Bit by bit, we are introduced to a wonderfully diverse, rich and complex set of characters who have found a place to live undisturbed, where no one knows their true nature.

All that is about to be threatened, however, as a rogue shifter begins to cause mayhem. In the midst of all this, fated mates, Maya and Jaden, are trying to come to terms with their destiny. As children, both witnessed unspeakable horror, the trauma of which still haunts them, and they have been in each other's heads for years without knowing who the other is. Jaden has no desire to hang around after the binding ceremony, preferring his hedonistic existence with no ties; Maya is a feisty, independently minded woman who does not take kindly to Jaden's attitude, but cannot shake the feelings he induces. Their shared internal and external dialogue is hilarious, poignant, tender and often very snarky, but as they spend time together, something shifts (see what I did there). Danger closes in, and the ceremony Jaden once viewed as simply an itch to be scratched, takes on a whole new significance as he realises Maya means far more to him than he ever imagined possible

I LOVED this book it has everything - romance, adventure, spirited characters, more than a hint of steam and even a little bit of history surrounding the immortals all combined with a great plot written in a fast paced style, which draws the reader along. I enjoyed it so much, I downloaded the second book, before I finished this one, needing to find out what happens next.

    Easy 5 stars!

This was a short, easy read. It's a PNR about shifters. There were some editing issues, but over all a decent book. This is a slightly different take on "fated mates". Mates develop a mark on their hand when the female turns 21, and the males have five years to find their mate after the mark appears or they change into their animal and live out their life in that form. Jaden is a jaguar shifter who has finally found his mate, Maya, but he only has a short amount of time to convince her they should be together. Maya has been hearing a voice in her head for the last five years, and it is getting louder. She doesn't know if she is going crazy or if someone is telepathically stalking her. What she doesn't realize is the voice is Jaden, her mate. Maya is against a relationship with a shifter. Her father was a shifter and he was evil.

Before Jaden can meet Maya properly he realizes Maya is being stalked by another shifter. Both Jaden and Maya have pain in their past that is coming between their relationship. Jaden initially has no desire for a relationship, and plans to mate with Maya and then leave. But eventually they both admit to their feelings. There is not a HEA. I believe there is a second book that is the conclusion of this story.

There is a lot of information in a short book. There is so much information about shifters, each characters back story, their families, and more that it is overwhelming. There is very little development of any of these areas because of how much the author tries to cover. I enjoyed the read, but I don't know that I will be reading the rest of the series.

I love paranormal shifters and just found a new author to stalk. JF Holland sends us on an adventure of paranormal shifters that will captivate you from the very beginning as she spins a web of mystery, deceit, murder and suspense.
The tradition is that once you reach 21 you have 5 years to find your soulmate. After that time if you have not found and mated with your soulmate then you will permanently become the beast on four legs forever alone.
Jaden is desperately trying to find his mate. It's only a matter of a few months before his deadline. He just wants to mate then return to being a manwhorer.
Maya has been having dreams of her mate. At first he was loving and caring, but now he seems more threatening and hostile. She is surprised to learn about Binks and Sam's secret.
The indepth of the characters keeps you intrigued with twists and turns as their past starts to unfold the mysteries of the evil lurking about and lost loved ones.
I enjoyed the meaning of the crop circle. I loved the telepathic sexual banter between Jaden and Maya. It was off the charts as well as the chemistry between them. Maya will keep him on his toes!!
I would definitely recommend Moon Sworn (The Bound Series, Book 1). Bound by the Moon, Book 2 and Fire in the Moon, Book 3.

Though Maya Rawlings knows about the existence of shifters she certainly doesn’t want to have anything to do with them. Her terrible father was a jaguar shifter and she had witnessed him murder her mother. So NO WAY does she want anything to do with Jaden, a sexy shifter who has been invading her dreams for five years. Now that she’s met him in person, he’s even harder to resist. Fate has decided his mate and Jaden hates the lack of choice involved. He plans on mating with Maya to maintain his immortality but then continue on with his solo existence and find his pleasure along the way.
The two main characters are believable and relatable. I enjoyed their banter and could understand the chemistry. The story is a good one which continues on in the next volume. There were some action scenes but the pacing seemed to falter a bit through the drawn out sex scenes, in my opinion. I usually enjoy a bit of steam but felt the need to skim through much of it. That being said, the story is compelling and enjoyable and I’m sure to continue with the series. Recommended for all paranormal readers!

Maya life has been hell. When the man comes to her in her dreams, she thinks she is crazy. Jaden must find his mate. After 21 years, he only knows that he must have her and make her his. The underlying threat in this read is phenomenal. I love the fact that Maya is a sassy and very stern character. Jaden is a tough and take no for an answer type of man. Can he keep her safe or will her past get her killed? Excellent writing. I can’t wait to dive into this series.

    Loved this Book!

Bossy, possessive, growly alpha male shifter? Um, yes please! Sassy, smart, feisty heroine? Also a yes please! I really enjoyed this book. This was my first book by J.F. Holland and I loved it. I immediately bought the rest of the series and I am reading them straight through. You really get to know the secondary characters and you are drawn in to want to learn their secrets and read about them finding their mates. I cannot wait to find out if there will be more of this series!

So far I have read up to book 4 of this series and I’m loving the world of others in rural England that JF Holland has created.

Book 1 - Moon Sworn drew me in, giving me an idea of the series and I was intrigued and the next thing.I knew I was on half way through book 2.

I love a good Paranormal Romance and this series hasn’t disappointed me so far. In fact as I finish one book I’ve just been hitting buy on the next. I loved that the books that were set in the UK.

This series is ticking all my boxes, hot alphas, feisty mates, and a great story.

This was the very first paranormal book I had ever read and also the first book by this author...I have to say it wasn't what I was expecting but far better ...thankyou jf for giving me another genre of book to read ...

  • Sandra

Well what can i say, my first paranormal book and i loved every page. Having read normal erotic books by this author and loving them too i took a chance and am so glad i did..The story of Jaden and Maya is just so different yet so erotic, you can almost feel the lust and the need for Jaden to mate with Maya the woman that seems to to have a fire in her soul. The sex scenes seemed that little bit more erotic and intense and somewhat animalistic but seemed to add to the whole storyline of these incredible people. This was one of those books that held my interest from start to finish and i now look forward to reading the second book of this series.

  • Robin Toy

    Nice quick read

Maya calling Haden Tibbles had to be the funniest best Jaguar name I've heard... Good storyline I do have to say some of the phrases from England can sure confuse this girl from USA..... going on to book 2 💜

  • Jessie

Yup totally got me hooked... happen to make the mistake of reading before bed. When I needed to get up in the morning and I couldn’t put it down

Can not wait to read more !!!

An entertaining shifter mystery romance with suspense, humour and some steamy scenes.

Even though they had never met, Maya has been dreaming about Jaden for the past five years, and Jaden has been searching for Maya, his mate. Not everything goes to plan however when they meet.

Both Maya and Jaden have tragic pasts, and they’re not the only ones, other members of the supernatural community have been targeted by rogue shifters. When Maya’s life is threatened, her friends, Binks and Sam, help Jaden protect her and her newly found family members from danger.

I enjoyed meeting the cast of diverse and complex characters that are gradually introduced. I hope we get to know more about the other characters in future books. Maya is smart and sassy, and is no pushover and although to begin with, Jaden comes across as a pushy alpha male, he also has a much softer and caring side.

I like the way the author has built a supernatural community in the quiet village of Lunaton, living side by side with unsuspecting humans, and the way she has tied in things like crop-circles to that community.

This is the first book I’ve read by JF Holland, and it was a super introduction to The Bound Series. I will certainly be reading more.

I haven't read a paranormal read, in quite a while, but this one really held my attention.

This is the first in a new series for J.F. Holland and she has blown shifter reads out of the water with this one. If you are expecting the run of the mill, norm, shifter read, then you cannot be more wrong.

Maya, is a woman that has suffered the loss of one of her parents and was a witness to what happened. This has scarred her, and she has always felt that there was something missing in her life. She knows few facts about her family, but what she does know, she knows to steer clear of others that are the same.

On reaching the age of 21, all things change for Maya, and things start falling in to place for her.

Jaden, is a a man that has been searching for someone for a long time, he has lived a thousand lives and he is so ready to find what he is looking for. He is a man that stops at nothing at getting what he wants, and there is nothing that will stand in his way.

Secrets revealed, revelations made, so seriously hot scenes, not to be missed.

This was a fantastic read from J.F. Holland, and she puts the idea of shifters in a very different perspective.
I will be looking forward to the next book in the series.

I love shifter stories and this is one of my favorites! Maya keeps hearing something in her head, talking and even feelings but every so often she feels on edge. Jaden is her mate but she doesn't know it yet but he does and the fact that she can hear him in her head and he can hear her means he is close. If Jaden can convince Maya to mate with him he will continue to be immoral but she doesn't know anything about them. Maya is very strong willed and is not gonna be a pushover for anyone least of all someone she doesn't know. This story was descriptive and funny and a little scary and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more of Jaden and Maya and even though this can be read as a standalone it's too good to stop there. I received this book as a gift and I have decided to give it a review.

I hadn't read any of JF Holland's work before but I'm so glad I read this! It was totally different from anything I have ever read - which is a massive bonus when there are so many books out there to choose from - and I will certainly be reading more of her stories.

JF Holland is brilliant at world-building, with vivid descriptions and great ideas. The main characters were likeable and the reader shared their emotions and thoughts. I found the book rather sad in places, really funny in others, and exciting throughout.

It was a great story and I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series :)

  • Kereana

It was ok just not for me

I'm sorry I no author's spend a lot of time etc on books but this story just wasn't for me. I liked the storyline and different aspects in the story but I found that the main storyline is really all about the romance side of Mackenzie and jaden. It just had too much intimate (talking to each other in their minds) and I'm wanting to know what happens to her dad, does the murder of jaden parents have anything to do with the dad etc those kinda questions. I dnt mind romance and all the sexy times but if I wanted that I wld read a porn hahaha. So I gave this bk a 3 figured not too low and not too high just rite

  • Jackie

How do I describe the book that kept me enraptured? Maya Rawlings is a beautiful character, with a history of pain and loss. Equally, Jaden has a longer history of sadness. I hated him at first, finding myself thinking "who the hell does this di## think he is?" Being unable to see a future for them... perhaps they won't make it. Then my opinion changed, realising that his past has made him who he is. The passion was hot, darned hot! I've ordered the next two books, in anticipation of more drama and lust.

P.S. I still think Jaden's a dick... but hopefully Maya can work on that!

  • Lynz Johnston

Great Book. I was hooked from the beginning. The chemistry between Maya and Jaden was great. I LOVED the banter between the two and how Maya never backed down with Jaden, if anything she kept prodding him to see what kind of reaction she could get. It was great, so easy and so fun to read.

I love the twists and turns in the book, didn't expect them at all. Can't wait for the next book

  • A.B Penner

Quite a change from Holland's contemporary romance series. In this first book of The Bound Series, you'll find the heat factor raised with a dash of dominance. Well-paced novel with detailed action scenes sure to leave you wanting more, and well-rounded characters. JF Holland will not disappoint.

  • Lindsay Crook

This is the first JF Holland book Iv read and I was not disappointed. Its brilliantly written and the story had me hooked from the start.I fell in love with the characters..Paranormal lovers d totally read this book.

  • Maggie Decker

This book introduces you to a new world of characters that are complex, fun, and intriguing. Just like real life, this book has family drama, relationship struggles, hard life lessons, and it does it all with wit and claws. I can't wait to read book 2.

  • E.C. Jarvis

I love J.F. Holland's writing, and I really enjoyed this book. It was a great read!

  • Helen Bright

Moonsworn, by JF Holland, was very different to most shifter novels I have ever read. It had background, not only about how you find your mate etc, but also about the village and surrounding area, which tied the whole story together. I think that as the series progresses, more will unfold about the area, although I could be wrong, but it would be great to see that happen. As always, Ms Hollands characters were well portrayed and the book carried a lot of humour, not to mention steamy scenes (shower and motorbike come to mind). I look forward to the next visit to Lunaton and it’s inhabitants.
