Better Together: The Collected Wisdom of Modern Dog Trainers Reviews

This book is a collection of articles by leading clicker trainers covering everything from basic dog training (how to train good house and social behavior) to training specific tasks to working with extreme undesirable behaviors like aggression and fear. I could not really argue with any of the substance in these articles. These people are top professionals and know their stuff well. And all of the articles were well-written (although I may have mildly disagreed with the tone of some of them). The reason this was only a 4-star book to me is not really the fault of the book -- it's more a fault of clicker training in general, and that is how LONG it takes to make progress with a lot of things. I am pretty good with marker training, and use it daily in my job to both train new skills and problem-solve difficult behaviors. But the lengths to which the trainer has to go to implement some of these methods seem unreasonable to me. (Along with the frequently occurring recommendation to use a veterinary behaviorist for extreme problems. I mean, OF COURSE in a perfect world you would want to, but how many people can really afford to do this?) Overall, a good handbook especially for people who are more at a beginner level than I am.
