She's never gone over the edge before, but I'm about to push her.

I’m the brother-in-law who doesn’t play by the rules.
No one delivers between the sheets like I do.
I had it all once—a pro hockey contract, money, an endless line of women looking for that special kind of action only my big stick could provide.
Then I went and screwed everything up.
I let my brother walk away with the best thing in my life.
But he’s gone, and I’m back, ready to take what should have been mine from the start.
Wren’s pretty blue eyes and perfect curves beckon me, still make me iron hard.
She has no idea how bad I want her, how much I dream about her soft lips and tight body.
I know she’s ready for me—all of me, know only my big D can deliver the big O she’s been craving for so long.
Question is, do I go gentle, or do I go hard?

Lawless is a full-length bad boy romance with a happily ever after and no cheating. Includes bonus books and exclusive bonus wedding scene for a limited time.

This was a second-chance type of story and overall it was a good read but it just never quite drew me in. The book is well written, the story has some good sub-plots and a few unexpected twists and turns.

Wren and Carter were likeable characters and the chemistry between them was believable. I just found Wren a little too wishy-washy and weak. For an adventurous girl with a strong sense of individuality and who had spent her teenage years getting into trouble she sure let her husband walk all over in 3 short years. It wasn't like she felt beaten down into it either, she had sold out and joined in with her husband

"constantly trying to keep up with New York's finest Joneses."

Carter was much better, hell this guy had done some serious stuff to protect Wren, but I just couldn't understand why he'd never made any effort to fight for her. I loved his dominant side and the fun he got up to with Wren, whom he clearly adored. However he just didn't seem able to get himself together, he just seemed to bumble through life.

This isn't a bad read I just feel I've read better books by Teagan Kade. I read it all, so it was never in the DNF zone. The story flows well and has good pace but it just lacked a little depth at times.

  • Tori - Novel Life

I kind of liked this book. I honestly had mixed feelings only because he was the brother that loved her first and wanted her first kind of thing. It wasn't the best, but not the worst I've read. Its the type of book you read over a period of time, not like the type of book you want to hurry up and get too. You can easily put it down and pick it up.

How can two brothers be so different? How can a father be so blind to the truth? How can a woman marry a man when she truly loves his brother?

Luckily in the end love is corrected
However, both fathers in the book are still dickheads.

Started off ok. But went down hill...the idea of the book was good.

  • Silversyko

    Meh
It was a tad cliche, a tad predictable, a tad boring to be honest.
A nice read, just did not keep my attention and I was not invested in the characters and their story.

Carter and Wren grew up together and were secretly in love with each other. Carter stepped aside and let his brother court Wren. He left and made it to the NHL. An injury threw a wrench in his plans and things went down hill. Women, drugs and jail followed. Wren married the good brother that turned out to be the worst choice for her. He was abusive and a cheater. After his death, Wren and Carter reconnect. What follows is a bumpy road to a HEA. I liked both characters. There is a lot going on in this story which keeps the reader interested. The epilogues were great!

Wren is not really grieving the loss of her dead husband David; he was not what you would call caring and loving, he left her in an awful situation with not much hope and two families pitting against her for their gain. So when Carter, Davids brother, the man who always held a special place in her heart and has plagued her dreams for years, she knows things are going to get messy. He is the now ex-con all alpha male who went through women like underwear during his Hockey days. She cannot deny though seeing him has certainly lit a spark she forgot she had.
Carter never forgot Wren. He tried to; he did not have a choice. Even then he would have done anything for her, now that he is out of Prison and David is gone, he just needs to make sure that she is ok. After seeing her though will once be enough?
I loved this book so much! Oh man, all the feels! Deception- Suspense- Drama- Embezzling- Gambling- Sexiness Galore- Sweetest Romance, great wittiness I was all in from the start of this page turner! I did not expect Carter to be the all out Alpha male he turns out to be *phew*. I had such a hard time putting this one down; I read this book till I passed out ( woke with my kindle on my face ) and then dragged it with me while I did my errands with my offspring so when I had a few minutes I could read just a bit more!
IMO Teagan Kade made the winning goal with this one <<<<----- ya like that ( original right?!!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot & sexy second-chance romance!

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Lawless written by Teagan Kade and voluntarily reviewed this book. Carter "Crusher" White, an ex-NHL player and now ex-con, swore he wouldn't set foot back in town. He only reason he did so: to attend his brother David's funeral and to check on his sister-in-law, Wren, because the circumstances surrounding his death could well be a scandal just waiting to be reported, with Wren at the center of it all. Growing up, Carter, David, and Wren were very close, but it was David who had wooed and married Wren.

Wren's life with David was not the fairy tale she had expected it to be. How could it have been, though, when she had married the wrong brother? Needing Carter's help in the aftermath, their attraction was just as strong, and they don't waste the chance to be together. But just when things were going so well between them, issues from his past come roaring up, and they will need to dig deeper to hang onto what they have just found together. This time, he was not going to let her get away, but he still doesn't feel deserving of her.

This was a really great read, with Carter's tortured soul finally finding peace, love, and someone who believed in him, and things finally working out the way they were meant to be for Wren. The storyline ended in several sweet epilogues that rounded everything out perfectly into a great HEA for them.

This is a wonderful book! I really got into this one! I had a hard time putting this one down once I started. I wanted to find out what happened next.

Lifelong friends, Carter and Wren are meant to be together. Only Wren goes and marries the wrong brother, David, Carters brother. So now Carter is Wren's brother in law. Only David has been cheating on Wren and then a tragedy stikes and David is killed in car accident. That is when Wren finds out about all the cheating and embezzlement. So now Wren has to call on Carter for help because no one in her life will help her and believes David didn't do wrong. Meanwhile Carter was a NHL hotshot who wound up in jail because of David. He has been trying to get back to the NHL but has a knee problem. I was just so saddened to see that Carter is never going to be anything in his father's eyes. That David will always be the golden boy even though he has done so much wrong in his life and it was made so public. You can see the love Carter still has for his family only for them not to return the love to him. David made so many mistakes and both Carter and Wren will be living with it for the rest of their lives.

I was so glad to see the epilogue that Wren finally gets what she has always want a son and a daughter. It was so great to see Carter finally get a career he always wanted. I was so happy to see Carter's mom finally back in his life and hopefully be a wonderful grandmother.

Wren husband has just been killed in a car accident. Wren feels horrible she grew up with David and has become a devoted housewife. David wasn't alone when he passed , Oh No his secretary was with him the one he has been having an affair with. Not only is he gone she also discovers he was been stealing money from his company and now all of her assets, belongings, house , everything is frozen. She has no family expect her Dad who is to busy looking for a sugar momma to care.
Carter shows up at his estranged brothers funeral, he is just out of prison , he is a former NHL player who blow at his knee, and then went on a downward spiral. Carter is the only person Wren can go to for a place to stay. Carter has always had feelings for Wren, and moved away so her and his brother could be together. Now they are thrown together, both outcast, and attracted to one another.
So I flipping loved this story, it had it all, especially many many panty melting bow chicka bow wow moments, the humorous situations and blunt dialog with Wren and her bff June had me in stitches. Overall a perfect read, with haters, and drama, and oh so good loving. Lawless is the title but I really don't think it worked, but besides that perfection. I happily read this ARC to share my thoughts about Carter and Wren.

Titled story- Full story but stoped at 38% there are a few more stories group together.
It was great second chance of lost love reunited between two friends but they are also in laws. Gritty with a taboo-ish feel.

Second chance... saving each other... Two brothers broken from a father that favoritism the youngest son David over the older son Carter. They grow up from an early two be competitive and that play apart with Wren. She and Carter were great together best of friends they were comfortable with each other. But David did anything he could to claim Wren and he did and rubbed it in Carter's face. That was the the last thing Carter had that was taken from him so he left for the NHL, then injured that began the drinking the drive and the hundreds or more women. Then David pulled Carter into his carp and now Carter is put away in prison. Wrench didn't know what David was doing in their years married until the car accident that took David and left his secretary/ mistress, one of many, uninjured. Her father is a sugar mama manwh0re, Carter's father never can cast David in the shadows and turns a blind eye on his favourite son's destruction of daddy's company. What was the real reason Carter was in prison? Is that life behind or will the past resurface? Can Wren ever see happiness without the darkness come forth?

    Emotional and compelling

Lawless took me by surprise. It’s a story that starts out bittersweet and heart wrenching, but ends with such an extraordinary ending filled with warmth and love.

Carter White is misunderstood. He’s an ex-con and disowned by his family. And he’s also in love with his brother’s widow. But there’s more to Carter than the washed up NHL star. He has lots of heart, and you can’t help but fall in love with him. Carter and Wren have wonderful chemistry, and she’s about to experience a sexual awakening with Carter’s expert touch.

The story slowly unfolds to reveal the real truth behind family secrets and Wren’s cheating husband, the competitive nature of the jealousy between the brothers, and Carter’s childhood love for Wren Banner. It’s an irresistible story that is equal parts story and sexy goodness. There’s suspense, romance, and all the feels, and best of all is the double epilogues that really made this story swoon-worthy. Finally, Carter and Wren have their chance at love and they really had lots hurdles to work through to get to their much deserved HEA. I loved it! Great job, Ms. Kade!

I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Great book by Kade and one that I’d suggest others read. This book has it all - Drama, Suspense, Embezzling, Gambling, Family. Appendages(for lack of a more appropriate word) that make you go Wowzers. This page turner will have you from the beginning till the very end.
Wren is not grieving the loss of her husband. He was uncaring and unloving. Left her in an awful situation and no hope. Carter, the husband's brother, is the same man whom Wren has always had a thing for. The same man that filled her teenage dreams. Carter’s now an ex-con who went through multiple women. Wren cannot deny seeing him lit a spark she's never really forgotten.
Carter never could forget Wren no matter how much he tried. Still all these later, he would do anything for her, even going to prison if he needs to. Now that he’s out of the pokey and his brother is gone, Carter needs to make sure Wren is okay. Can he just see if she’s okay then go on with his life? Or will he need to find a way to keep her forever?

    4 Stars ****

I just finished Lawless in one sitting and I really enjoyed this story about second chances at true love. This story tells the heartbreaking tale of one girl, two brothers and three best friends… That is until everything changes. What happens when your entire life falls apart and those situations pale in comparison to what is coming? Wren knew that she was unhappy but never thought that it was as bad as it was, but when her past comes back to the present she must decide to learn to trust and love again. But when that person has his own problems, will it be to much for them to survive?
I highly recommend that you one click this book now. It is a great story that will keep you waiting for the next plot twist. My only problem with this book is that even though it ended great, I felt that the ending was a little rushed. Like we got up to the big reveal and then it was over. Don’t get me wrong, Teagan provided a great book that I will re-read in the future, I just expected a little more at the end. That being said I can not wait to get more from this author.

I like Carter he's an ex-con that everyone wants gone. Nobody knows the reason behind him going to prison. Carter feels the world on his shoulders. Wren is the widow of Carter's brother, When things come to light about David, now Wren has the world on her shoulders. She only has two people she can call. Between Carter and Wren they have journeys to make to put the past behind them. This was a fun read. Carter is not as bad as he thinks, but he needs to learn to talk to Wren about what he's feeling. I enjoyed this book. Teagan Kade did a good job of portraying Carter and Wren's frustrations with everything going on. There was suspense, humor and hot sex. I could feel the trouble brewing. In my opinion it was a typical bad boy romance, but I enjoyed it. I received an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.

  • Vivian Chrisman

I have read several books by this author but I believe this is my favorite. Wren grew up with Carter and David White. Although she was attracted to Carter, David was the one she married. David was the one her father and everyone said was the "right" choice- the golden son. They all said Carter was no good and worthless even as he became a hockey star. As a new widow, Wren now knows she should have followed her heart. When rumors and investigations of David start, Carter is the only one to stand with Wren. Everyone else is worried about family images and priorities. Will Wren and Carter be able to work through all that is stacked against them to reach a HEA? Or will Carter let his own priorities get in the way?

*I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book as well as purchasing a copy. I am voluntarily leaving this review*

  • Wendy Douglas

This is the first book by Teagan Kade that I've read, and I really liked it. Wren and Carter were great together, and I liked their characters a lot. I also liked the whole set-up, the plot and how things played out.

Wren put up with a lot of crap from her family and Carter's brother and father. She got stuck in a situation that really wasn't the best for her, mostly because of selfish jerks who wanted to control her. Carter was exactly the opposite, and he was one special guy. They deserved each other--and more--and I was really glad to see them get their HEA.

The story played out realistically--with maybe a little bit of fantasy that romance readers always love--and I'd say that the author was very successful in giving us a love story that straddled realism and fantasy just fine. I enjoyed it a lot, and I'll be reading other Teagan Kade books!

    Lawless by Teagan Kade

Wren is at her husband's funeral, David died in a car crash on their wedding anniversary, his mistress walked away. Best friend June is there for her. Wren grow up with David and his brother Carter. Their fathers wanted David and Wren to be together even if Wren had feelings for Carter too. Carter was the bad boy, played hockey till his knee gave out and then went tp prison for a couple of years. The way the story starts out is about a woman that let others chose for her, but she learns to stand up for herself. I loved seeing her grow and become stronger. This is a very interesting story that is hard to put down. It made me laugh, cry, and it has some of the hottest sex scenes I have read. I enjoyed this story and would recommend this book as a must read. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy.

I have to say when I read what the book was about I was unsure of what to expect. I have to say that this book blew me away from the very first page. It is about 2 very broken people who have loved each other for a very long time. It is about the journey that they take to get back together. That journey is not smooth it is very bumpy. Together they learn to love again, trust again and live life again. This book made me laugh and cry sometimes at the same time. I love this book from start to finish. This book is very definitely worth your time. Pick it up and give it a try and hopefully you will enjoy Wren and Carters story as much as I did.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader's copy for an honest review.
