AVEN-

There are a few things I don’t believe in. Like santa. An honest politician. And gut instincts.
That was, of course, until I woke up with one.
And I knew.
This was the day I was going to die.
The cops, thus far, have proven useless and uninterested in my issues. When you couldn’t get help from legal channels, what other choice did you have but to look elsewhere?
That was how I came across Quinton Baird.
A “fixer.”
Whatever the hell that was.
All I knew was, I had a problem that needed fixing.
Hopefully, before it killed me.

QUIN-

There were a few things I could put my faith to rest in. My team. People f*cking up, and needing my help. And my gut.
So when my receptionist informed me that the woman in a case I decided wasn’t my kind of job was having a ‘gut feeling’ about being in desperate need of help, yeah, I dragged my a** across town to check things out.
Not only did I not bank on the fact that she was in trouble beyond what I could have anticipated, but she was not what I was expecting either. Beautiful, resilient, and one hell of a distraction I didn’t need.
As the pieces of her case start falling together, I was left wondering if maybe this new, unfamiliar sensation in my gut was telling me that Aven was much more than just another name on a case file…

ღ Let’s state the facts here, damn was this storyline intriguing!

Aven Armstrong was feeling pretty damn desperate, with a creepy psychopath stalker that gave her nightly visits for months now …

Most people would think ok why isn’t this lady calling the cops . well unfortunately she had each & every time this psychopath stalker shows up. Thing is the police didn’t take Aven seriously, cuz that psychopath stalker would be long gone by the time the cops show up

Even if you knew that the NBPD was corrupt as they come. They were supposed to help people in Aven situation, right?

Quinton told me that he wasn't a saint by any stretch of the word, but at this point Aven didn’t need a saint, she need a FIXER

That made Aven Armstrong the damsel in distress. How cliché. But damn if my knight in shining armor was Quinton Baird, I’d be like sign me up

I’m so happy, we got new players in Navesink Bank Universe..... Yay fresh blood….
Omg love this whole team & I literally cannot wait to read the next books; I am so excited to read more about these characters cuz I fell in love with all of them.

I’m not going to lie , I’m dying to read each & every one of them! If it was up to me I’d jump into the next book in this series, but I’am also try my best to stay of course with the reading order of the Navesink Bank Universe

On to the next book, I believe Edison is up next in the Navesink Bank Universe

For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about when I mention Navesink Bank Universe… here link to Jessica Gadziala reading order⬇

I see a book in my queue (even without a blurb) written by the talented Jessica Gadziala and I click "want to read." SIMPLE. AS. THAT.

Update 11/13/2017: That cover. That blurb. Soon it will be on my kindle where it belongs.

    DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER
This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants and swearing.

29 year old Aven Armstrong has a problem. A stranger has taken an unhealthy interest in her and turned into a full blown stalker. The Navesink Bank Police Department has stopped responding to her calls. Aven turns to a source she found online that may be able to help - a fixer. But after being turned away, she takes things into her own hands. Aven will protect herself anyway she can. She never anticipated how things would unfold.

“A gut feeling. Some phenomenon that had never existed in my life until recently.”

Late 30 something Quinton “Quin” Baird is a fixer of situations that range from dangerous to routine. His team is top notch. After Quinton arrives back in town, his receptionist pushes a case that was turned down knowing they do not do stalkers. But, she mentions the woman seemed desperate and had a foreboding feeling. Quinton personally drivers to her house. After assessing the situation, he decides to take the case.

“If her problem was fixed, then she was done here, she was done with me. She would go back to her life. I would go back to mine. And that was the end of it. There was no accounting for the strange gut-punch sensation I felt at that realization.”

I am hoping the stand alone status will turn into a full blown series. Like holy fuck! There are so many secondary characters that NEED their stores told. This would make me pleased. I man come on... can you imagine Gunner? Kai? Miller? Jules? The list goes on. Keeping writing Jessica Gadziala, I will keep reading your world.

If I’m being honest it’s a 2.5 star rounded up.
What I expect from JG heroes is a overpowering protective instinct. This hero failed to deliver.
He didn’t seem like the kind to jump in front of a moving car to save heroine, he seems more like the kind who’d fuss that it’d mess his hairstyle or chip a nail.
He WOULD take great care of the heroine after she’s hit by the car or saved being hit by the car by Gunner. But well ... that’s where it fails to impress me.

What pisses me off the most was the ending. He was a dick. When would heroines ever learn that if they’re giving a fiery speech and walk out on the hero it needs great exit strategy and it absolutely does NOT involve waiting for elevators. Take the damn stairs woman and seriously, LEAVE! He needs to feel how it feels to be at the receiving end of the radio silence before you forgive him, because he treated you like crap. He did jump to the wrong conclusions and kudos to the heroine for making a point by saying how she’s tight with Gunner and Quin, if need be jealous, should be of that. But, question remains what if she didn’t show up that night? He has done nothing but sulk, and he absolutely did not deserve forgiveness at that point of time.

To be honest I felt neither the chemistry nor the romance. It was a good story, however that’s where it ended.

    ***FIVE STARS***

Wow, what a story! This one sucked me in from the very first page, and kept on pulling me through to the very end. I'm totally digging these darker waters JG has been taking her characters into in her past few stories. This one had a bit of everything in it: action, mystery, suspense, freakishness, and (my fave) romance.

I loved the slow burn of Quin's and Aven's magnetic draw to each other, and I enjoyed the distance Quin tried to keep between them, and the doubts and insecurities this caused Aven to have. These two were totally smoking hot once Quin finally gave into his feelings for Aven.

I don't want to give anything else in this story away, so it can be appreciated spoiler free. As always, I adored the familiarity of Navesink Bank and its inhabitants who also made their cameos in this story. I really did enjoy this new addition to the Navesink Bank Universe. I can't wait to see where these great new characters we've been introduced to, go from here.

Where do you turn when even the police no longer seem to care if you have a stalker, because he is just too smart for them? Aven is terrified for her life. The man in the shadows keeps finding her, taunting her and he is getting closer, too close and she knows she is going to die.

In desperation, she calls a firm in town that “fixes” things. Apparently even they do not feel things are “broken” enough for them and then it happened. Her stalker made his move, vile disgusting and deadly. If not for the fixer’s savvy secretary, company owner Quin shows up the next day and from that point on, Aven became job one, better late than never, I guess.

For Quin, there is something about this tiny woman that hits him deep in his gut, deep in the heart he didn’t’ think existed anymore. He smells secrets and terror and the vulnerability of an innocent and he is determined to keep Aven safe, protected and close. The true romantic chemistry comes alive when Quin must be out of the country and technology plays cupid to two souls, one alone and afraid and one just the man to take care of her.

Jessica Gadziala’s THE FIXER has that same gritty flavor Ms. Gadziala is known for, but this time out, there is a gentleness in her alpha anti-hero, as well as his “team” that is priceless. Quin is not some rough-edged man, he is more polished, having buried his past and re-created himself in the world he has clawed his way to get to. Aven is that little bird who is clearly out of her depth, clearly running away from something and clearly out of her element in Navesink Bank. And THAT is what makes this tale so romantic. The big anti-hero is taken down by the woman who is NOT tough as nails.

Has Jessica Gadziala gone soft? Nope, she has gotten even better. She still makes her mark with bold strokes and larger than life characters who live life on the dark side of the street without becoming dark souls, themselves. She still finds love in a hard-as-nails world and it is amazing how we cannot help but feel every emotion, lie every moment and believe in the good in every character she gives us!

I know, I know, I’ve said this before, but I think THIS could be my favorite JG book yet and Navesink Bank is beginning to feel like a fictional home.

The story was fascinating. It had good and bad moments, funny and great characters and the slow burn romance.
It was a really enjoyable read.

I love Jessica Gadziala's books, I still need to re-discover her MC Henchmen series, since I actually battle an inner war concerning this particulat trope but I m willing to give everything a try and sometimes even a second chance...lol

    But back to this book...

    The storyline was intiguing...

A woman stalked and scared by a mentally disturbed man...and there s no help from the legal side of the fence, as she cant prove of any malice actually done to her...

She seeks help from a 'fixer' Quinton Baird and his group of associates, but they dismiss her plea with an apology of not dealing with the 'stalker cases'

so unfortunatelly, having no other choice and being pushed into a situation of defending herself in the most difficult and uterly frightening of ways...

But then, at the last minute, he does come to her rescuse as he deals with the aftermath...he's 'fixing' the situation and erasing any possible links that could be further damaging to her...but the coping and acceptance of the already damage done is hard and more complicated when they both develop feelings that go beyond the professional side of the deal...

I liked the story in general, I liked the suspense and action but nearing the end it all somewhat mellowed down in unraveling the romantic aspect of this action packed suspense drama.

    A good book. Safe.
MCs were ok. Damsel in distress, but a decent one.
I missed romance a bit, MCs’ connection wasn’t very good developed, IMO of course.
    Nevertheless a fine read.

I love JG's Navesink Bank, but I would never want to live there. I like a nice placid, unadventurous life really. I don't have to worry about it tho, cause JG just keeps writing stories about the place and I keep reading and re-reading them, getting a vicarious thrill before I go back to posting internet cat pictures.

This one introduces some new characters outside of the normal NB groups and Aven the h was AWESOME. This woman was in no way shape or form TSTL and I can only applaud her actions to save herself.

Quin was a cutie, but kinda dumb with it in certain aspects. But his mistake wasn't of the OW or really evil variety, more too new at feelings to actually question things. In fact Quin got the typical female part of Last Obstacle Standard Act of Separation Before the Big Reunion behavior in this one and it really worked for the story line.

If you like anti-heros outside the law who have a sense of justice and do the right thing for the right person -- while giving the bad guys their just deserts, this story and JG's others in this universe are the way to go. I had a great time with this one and can't wait for more.

Fortunately there is a ton of stories about the groups in this world and so I have many happy hours of re-reads when I need a fix in between releases.

I loved it. I read a lot of books from JG but this one was my favorite.
Story line, drama, characters,... everything was perfect.
I'm excited for the 2nd book because I loved broody-big-always hungry-tattooed Gunner in this one! :D

I’m not sure where I went wrong on this. Everyone loved this and I was excited to start a new series. The book started out strong for me, but it fell flat in the end.

Someone is stalking Aven and she needs help. I liked the way the book started. I felt like it was really fast pace and I love me a good damsel in distress storyline. At first I thought the stalker was the Hero, but it’s not that kind of book.

Quin is the fixer. He comes in and cleans up people’s messes for a price. I liked him. He seems like a normal dude and a good guy. He helps Aven out and as much as he’s attracted to her, he stays away.

I liked the tension between Aven and Quinn the book isn’t steamy at all, so you really have to focus on the tension.

Things started to go down south for me for the second half of the book as I found it boring. I didn’t really care about the other cases or the secondary characters. I felt like there were too many characters introduced and I get it the author is setting you up for the following books but I would have preferred for it to be one or two guys not the entire agency.

I felt like the tension between Quin and Aven was lacking in the second half and I just skimmed their phone calls because really?

Anyhow it was okay but I was overall disappointed.

They met when Aven's (late 20s) stalker finally decided to attack her after years of harassing her. No one listens to her, and the police didn't treat her claims seriously. She also called Quin's (late 30s) agency for protection, but they don't take stalking cases often, and they're swamped with other cases. Seeing as she has no one to turn to, Aven took matters into her own hands and bought a gun to protect herself. That night, she killed her stalker when he got inside her house, because the worst things would happen to her if she didn't get to him first.

Anyway, Quin decided to drop by Aven's house the next morning when he heard about her claim. And when he saw her in her bedroom shaking and the dead man's body lying in a pool of blood, he decided to take this stalking-murder case.

This was insta-lust, because not even a day after he took her to their office/safe house, the attraction kicked in immediately. The next thing I knew, they were kissing and all, and I was like, dude, she just went through a horrible experience; why not give her the space to think clearly? I know he's not taking advantage of her, but that's the impression it left me. She's vulnerable and out of sorts, so him swooping in and letting his hormones get the best of him isn't sitting well with me. Although it was a mutual attraction, he still shouldn't have gone there because, aside from the trauma, she's also a client, and he needs to be professional with her.

Then new things were discovered about her stalker, and Quin and his team handled everything. It took them two weeks to close the case, and during this time they were texting each other and even had slept one time. After the case, she went back to her old life, and Quin's agency got a new case to work on.

Idk, it just didn't appeal to me. It was insta-something that turned into LDR. A huge part of this book was that they were miles away from each other. They survived through phone calls, but they weren't in a romantic relationship; they were using the excuse of "friendship" so they could talk to one another, flirt, and have phone sex. Friends don't do that, but then again, they were both lying by saying they wanted to be friends but, deep down, wanted more than that. 🤷‍♀️

And that scene where his team just finished wrapping up their case and he was on his way to Aven only to see her being kissed by some guy pissed the sh*t out of me. If the roles had been reversed, my reaction would've been the same. And Aven saying it was just a friendly peck and that she told her flirty friend not to do that again only fueled my irritation. Why did she even let that kiss happen in the first place? She should've blocked that peck. 😤

I cannot fully blame Quin for jumping to the worst conclusion, because, hello, when he thought they were building something, Aven made it look like their calls and texts the past month were just nothing by allowing someone else to kiss her. Idc if it's a peck, the fact that her lips touched someone else's is just not okay; it was rage-inducing. 🤬

Overall, I wasn't invested in the story. The MCs were bland, the insta-something didn't work for me, the reconciliation was annoying, and the epilogue was lame. I wish I had followed my gut and DNFed this earlier on. 😩

    Book info:
    - Romantic suspense
    - Stalking
    - Unaliving
    - Insta-lust
    - Physical Assault
    - No cheating*, OPD, separation*
    - No V (h - few, H - obvs experienced)
    - HFN (1 yr later, engaged)

    Notes:
    - Cheating (to me): because Aven let her friend give her a peck on the lips. While I know that guy is going away, he could've given her a goodbye kiss on the cheeks instead of the lips.
    - Separation: they're not really in a romantic relationship, but what they're doing is basically the same. The only thing missing is the label. Anyway, they were separated for more than a month, since Quin's away working on a case.

I wanted to cry when I finished this book. I read 3-4 books a week but this one made me drop everything else and was just one of those books that captivates you from the start. I really loved Aven and Quin. Their story is realistic, passionate, and loving. I've been reading JG books for a while now and I consume every word she writes, but this one was a level above the rest.

The Fixer is a new standalone novel, although it is based in the "universe" of Navesink Bank. Quin is the fixer and Aven needs fixing, in a major way. Their relationships is definitely more of a slow burn but I love their communication and the building of their connection in the story.

I'm telling you (and I say this in most of my JG reviews, I know) that you need to read this book and everything else written by JG, but this is a great place to start. You will never regret picking up one of her books, and The Fixer is my personal favorite dark romance of the year.

What a perfect gift right before Christmas.. A new series from an author I love.. Set in her Navesink Bank world she introduces us to The Fixers, a group of professionals that fix complicated problems for people. The company and team is run by Quinton Baird whose story is the introduction to the series.

The Fixers are comprised of 6 men and one woman who are all kick ass and each has a specialty they bring to the table. This was another start to a great series that combines action/suspense with romance and characters you can't help but fall in love with.

I was so deeply looking forward to The Professionals series as Jessica Gadziala can do no wrong. I am obsessed with Navesink Bank and all the characters and series that are meshed together. While I thought this book was an amazing intro to the cast of characters, I honestly did not love this book as much as this author's previous books. The mystery/suspense was sort of underwhelming midway through the book. I also felt like Aven was a little doormatish and almost desperate at times. I had to hold my head to stop it from shaking in dismay and to stop myself from putting the book down at that ending. The grovel just was NOT there. Sigh. Ok I'm done venting. Now I can't wait to read Gunner's book! 3 stars! ~Ratula

Here’s hoping this book turns into a series because not only was the main couple fantastic, all the supporting characters had me wanting to know their stories and what made them tick.

After the worst night of her life, Aven meets Quin when he shows up to “fix” her situation (hence the title The Fixer). What should be a normal situation for Quin, has him reaching for more, wanting to check in on Aven, talk to her. While trying to fix things for Aven, another situation comes up that forces him to be out of the country for a while. This is where I really loved how these characters fell in love- they did it long distance via phone calls. I feel like there is something super romantic and old school about this. In a time where so many of us are seeking instant gratification and where technology distracts us, this couple did it the old fashioned way and it was fantastic.

Jessica Gadziala I know I keep saying this, but this book was fantastic! It had funny moments, sweet moments, great supporting characters (like the Henchmen, you could create a series out of the core cast, but I’m sure as future books come we will find other characters we want to know), sexy moments, suspenseful moments. This book has just about everything. Now, where can I get my own Quin?? 🤔

DOLLS!!!!! Y'all are in for ride with this new series!
We start off with our leading lady Aven (love that name) who is having some serious trouble. She tries to get help but nobody can do anything so she decides she will have to take matters into her own hands which she does. Now enter Quinn. Oh Quinn you sexy beast you were everything I was hoping for! Quinn is a "fixer" & he employees a few other people (new characters 😃) that have different skills that help people fix their problems. Right away Quinn & Aven can feel some sort of pull towards each other. Quinn sets off to fix Avens problem all while still trying to fix stuff for other clients (Fenway 😍). One thing I loved about this book was how there were different problems that kept popping up. As Quinn & team fixed Avens problems I was thinking "ok its early in the story & they already fixed her problems, what else could happen" well trust me there are quiet a few more obstacles Quinn & Aven have to overcome before they can get their HEA.
Now that I'm done gushing over Quinn & Aven let me just tell you about our newest residents of Navesink Bank....we've got Jules, Kai, Finn, Gunner, Smith, Lincoln, Ranger & let's not forget Miller! That last one is going to surprise y'all I just know it!! 😉
I can not wait to get more from the fixers! Great start to a new series!! Go one-click so you can begin your journey into Navesink!

An action-packed goodness with some really delicious romance

A great start of a series. But you have to be ready for a lot of shit happening right from the get-go.
It's not a romance-romance kinda book and that's exactly what I was in a mood for.
    And I freaking loved it.
The pace, the turns of events, the characters and the romance. Especially the romance.
The only 'but' was maybe the ending because were I Aven, I'd never go to Quin after he blew her off. I didn't like that. But the epilogue was so freaking good, that I forgave the author for everything.

So If you're looking for a great quick read with a lot of action, great characters and some steamy bits, look no further, this book is IT.

I really don’t get why this book isn’t more hyped. It deserves it. Especially the delicious writing style. ❤️

Oh, and Gunner is my fucking favourite!! Can't wait to get to his story.😍

    So freaking excited!!!!🤗🥰
