Little Blue Trucks Springtime Reviews

I had high expectations for this book. Just not as enjoyable as the others in this series; rhymes are forced. The "yoo-hoo" gets annoying.

My 3 year old grandson loves these books, so of course I had to buy him this one for Easter. We've been reading it multiple times every day since then and he takes it to bed with him at night. I like that each book in the series is a little different - this one is an open-the-flap book. Each page has a different kind of animal, with their baby animals under the flap. The illustrations are beautiful, very colorful and full of little details like a mouse hiding in the barn. Also, alongside the main story there are frogs who make crowns of the different colored flowers on each page and hitch a ride on the truck. In addition, each baby animal is referred to by its correct name, so kids get used to hearing those terms.
My grandsons live with my son, their father, and the book only once refers to the parent animal as mother. The rest of the time the story just says "horse" or "rabbit". So it works well for our family. On the page where it talks about "Mother pig", my grandson wanted to know where the Daddy pig was. This kind of thing matters to little kids, so I'm happy that they made the story work for any parent figure. (Lots of spring time books assume the babies are always with their mother.) In our case he decided the Daddy pig was inside the barn and then he was happy. :)
(The flaps are large and pretty sturdy so I expect the book to hold up pretty well to all the attention he's giving it.) -
Little Blue Truck and Toad hit the road to see what's new in Springtime. As they drive rhyming text greets a series of animals and invites readers to lift the flap to see the animal babies underneath. Opportunities to engage the reader by making animal sounds and counting babies. Wonderfully lilting text and softly colored illustrations make this a marvelous book to share.

Very cute and Sweet!!! Beep! Beep!

Little Blue Truck visits all of the newly born springtime babies in this adventure. It's a good way of incorporating learning all of the animal names and sounds.

Cute
-
Pleasant book with sounds, animals, and some light counting.

This one is cute but the yoo-hoo is a little weird. But my little loves it and little blue truck. So it’s a winner here.

Little Blue Truck (and toad) are off on a drive. They find animals friends along the way. It was a fun read to share with a group. We all said, "Yoo-hoo" together as well as counted baby animals.

"Yoo-hoo!" Yeah, I'm not sure why it says that throughout Little Blue Truck's Springtime. When I first read this book, I was like, "What in the world did I just buy for my son?" Now, I've read it so much that I kind of like it. That, or I just know how to read it out loud better.
Blue is taking a drive with his friend, Toad. Along the way, they see their animal friends, like the cow and duck. Then, you lift the flap and see the baby animals. Essentially, that is the entire storyline. There isn't much to it other than that. There are a couple of times where you can count the number of baby animals which is nice for educational purposes.
Emmett got Little Blue Truck's Springtime in his Easter basket. Lucky him. He really loves the story and opening the flaps. I think the flaps in this book are much better than the ones in Little Blue Truck's Halloween. He has had this book for over a month now, and it has not been damaged yet, so I think that is a good sign. I guess the only thing is the storyline is similar to Little Blue Truck's Halloween, where there isn't much going on compared to the other books in the series. However, I love how Emmett can learn the names of all the baby animals. So, would I recommend this book? Yes, as long as you can get past the "Yoo-hoo" throughout the book. This is a great addition if your little one loves this series, and the flaps are great entertainment for them. -
I adored this Little Blue Truck Book. The rhyming sentences will keep the young ones interested. The vibrant colorful scenery and wonderful depiction of the animals will keep kids wanting to come back time and again. I borrowed this book from Amazon library for free for an honest review. You can too.
"The Little Blue Truck and a Toad went for a drive on a beautiful day. Who will they see along the way? "
They saw many animals you get to see. Don't forget to look in the truck, Toad has many friends who want to ride along.

Review first published on my blog, Nine Pages.
This lift the flap, animal primer uses the Little Blue Truck character to introduce readers to farm animals and their offspring. More and more toads (that really look more like frogs to me) gather on the truck, and I made a game of counting the toads on each page. There are nine ducklings and ten piglets to count too and a passel of bunnies. The text is very simple, very short but rhymes. The flaps tend to hide the animals. -
Little Blue Truck drives through his country neighborhood checking out the barn areas to see who is there. There are goats, pigs, cows, ducks, chickens, and sheep. He meets them and finds out what is new with them.
This is an adorable books for infants and toddlers. There is rhyming and counting as well as learning how the animals look. I liked the pull open tabs to see the babies and count them. I also liked that this is a board book and the pages are thick so as a child pulls the doors open on each page it will be hard for them to rip the pages or book. Perfect for those little ones who like trucks and animals. Teaches without being preachy. -
Here's a favorite with the little boys, though girls will like it too! Rich, vibrant countryside scenes to look at and fun pop-outs to explore will make this a frequently asked for book!

Some of the truck books Rowan has gotten from relatives are pretty garish and uninspired. He usually likes them too...because trucks. Little Blue Truck is far from the worst in this particular category of picture book, and this specific volume continues that trend of functional, nice, and not especially inspired but still pleasing and fun for Rowan. So I'm fine with it. He doesn't ask to read it, but he'll always have a good time. This is good for me, because it means we can read it less frequently than some. So I never get sick of it. Good filler book. Plus: lift-a-flap = crowd pleaser.

This fell a little flat for me. The first Little Blue Truck book is probably one of my favorite kids books - I will happily read it a million times for my son - but this one doesn't live up to it. The illustrations are beautiful, and the flaps hiding the baby animals are fun, but the poem feels forced. It would have been better if they hadn't tried to make it rhyme. Little guy loves the flaps so we're still reading it over and over but I'm not enjoying your t as much as the first one.

This was a cute book that’s perfect for introducing Spring to little ones. My 1-year old and 3-year old loved this book. They really enjoy interactive books, and the lift-a-flap feature is so much fun.
The illustrations in this book are colorful and pretty. The story is simply enough to keep my kids’ attention, and it’s interactive.
This was overall a cute book, but we haven’t read any other Little Blue Truck books previously. I think young kids would love this book. -
Artwork continues to amaze, and I love the idea of touring the farm and seeing all the baby animals being born in Springtime. I would say this is a perfect book for children who are starting to understand farms and baby animals. In short, my baby is currently too young for this book, as it lacks the jaunty rhymes of the original.

This is one of my toddler son’s absolute favorite books and has been for months. The illustrations are whimsical and engaging, with flaps to open on each page. He loves the animals. Like the other Little Blue Truck books this one has rhyming text that sweetly tells the story. We’ve also found a fun activity in counting the baby animals.

I highly doubt I'm the only parent who is ready to be done with this series, but I can say I sincerely hope this is it while still saying that it was cute and the baby animals were a nice touch. These are well done books...if you're going to have to read something eighteen times, that's going to be essential.

One in the series of Little Blue Truck books. This time Little Blue Truck sets out on a springtime journey and discovers a number of animals and their little ones. Using rhymed verses, the board book invites interactions as readers lift flaps and discover the animal friends and their babies. It encourages recognizing different animals and counting the animals on the page.

If this were the first book in the "Little Blue Truck" series, I'd be more forgiving. This one feels like it's reaching for a much younger audience than the previous installments. I wish I had read it before purchasing it because it is underwhelming.
-
Another installment in Little Blue Truck’s adventures. This time the frog picks up his fellow frogs on the farm, stopping to say yoo-hoo to all the farm animals and their new babies. Lively rhymes and fun lift flaps make this a great interactive read.
-
What a lovely springtime book! The illustrations by Jill McElmurry really shine as this board book uses flaps to highlight many farm animals and their births in the spring.
The text will also lend itself well to reading out loud, as it has a nice rhythm and rhyme.

Decent but short
Nice images as always. There's not much of a story in this one but it's still a cute book even though it is a bit short.
I have the digital version and doing the flip pages are a bit cumbersome and not easily found on the page. -
Disappointed
The eversion is in a different language than English even tho the cover was in English. Possible the wrong file was uploaded for the parts not “under the flaps” as those sections are correct.
