I wanted to hate her. For three years, Camilla withheld the fact that my brother had a son, Liam. Then, Tony died without ever knowing his kid, and I was going to make sure Ms. Rose paid a price for her deceit. I also wanted Liam to be raised as a Burke. Our family’s legacy was one to carry on, so the terms were straightforward. Live in my home. Allow me to help raise Liam. Oh, and agree to be my submissive. In return, I agreed not to rip Camilla’s child away from her. I also offered them both financial security and a life of luxury. It seemed generous to me. It might’ve been simple, too, had she not reminded me of the lady in red. The one who haunted my dreams at night. Camilla’s hazel eyes were a mirror image, her sweetness more than an acquaintance to my subconscious. I was a hacker by trade, and the internet was my best friend, sharing with me every secret I wished to unearth. I believed that until an unfathomable truth revealed itself in a different way. Some secrets are never whispered, only sensed by the heart, and all along, my soul held the truth. It hid even from me the most important secret of them all. The Terms ends in a cliffhanger. It contains explicit language and graphic sex, including aspects of BDSM. The second novel in the duet, The Part Two, will release June 2017.

'The Terms' is the kind of book that is dark in an "I telling you 'no' but really want you to" sort of way. The storyline features a manipulative revenge scheme that plays out via a relationship built on dubious consent/coercion. It also features an anti-hero that you'll love to hate and hate to love. (Be forewarned, you have to love a high-handed jerk to enjoy this story.)

Camilla Rose is a single mother, struggling to make ends meet. She has learned some tough life lessons in her twenty-something years. However, she's doing her best to rise above her circumstances and build a good life for her young son, Liam.

Upon hearing of the death of her ex-boyfriend, she decides to pay him one last visit. Standing over his lifeless body, she says what she's wanted to say to him for a long time and leaves him with a picture of the son that he'll never know. Then, she walks away from him for the last time.

However, Camilla wasn't the only one aware of the picture that she left. Tony's brother, Ellis, finds the picture of the young boy and confronts Camilla. He is furious that she has hidden the existence of Tony's son from him. In his grief and anger, Ellis goes to extreme lengths to seek revenge.

Essentially, he threatens Camilla with the one thing that she fears -- the loss of her son. Ellis Burke is extraordinarily wealthy and Camilla knows that she wouldn't stand a chance against him in court if he were to try and take her son away. As much as she loathes him, she is forced to bend to his will.

Ellis was immediately attracted to the sexy woman at the funeral home. When he discovered that she had Tony's child and had kept it a secret, he was consumed with anger. Torn between his anger and his lust, he decides to fulfill both his sexual fantasies and his need for revenge. Camilla will move in with him and be his submissive...or she will lose her son.

Despite the nature of their relationship, the attraction is mutual. It isn't long before Camilla and Ellis develop real feelings, beyond lust, for one another. However, the very nature of their relationship stands in the way of progress. How can Camilla ever trust him? How can Ellis ever get over her past relationship with his brother?

As time passes, it becomes clear that there is far more going on than meets the eyes. Ellis clearly did not know his brother as well as he thought that he did. Camilla clearly has a big secret from her past that is waiting to be revealed.

To top it all off, Camilla's best friend, Christopher, has been hired by Ellis. Not at all happy with the fact that the woman he wants is living with another man, Christopher adds another angle to the story with his passive-aggressive maneuvering and jealousy. He's always there!

Overall, I thought that this was a great book. Although it was certainly different from others, it wasn't nearly as dark as I expected. I enjoyed the watching the evolution of Camilla and Ellis's relationship as the dynamics changed. There were still a lot of unanswered questions, so I dived right into the second book to see how things worked out for these two. It wasn't what I expected, but it was a nice surprise.

"I felt like I’d known you for years. It sounds ridiculous, but it was as if you were this woman who’d slipped through my fingers, like a first love who got away.
You were the woman I had to get back."

Ellis Burke meets Camilla Rose at a funeral home.
She has just left a photograph of her little son under the arm of his dead brother, Tony. Imagine his surprise when he sees that the picture of the little boy resembles the looks of all the males of his family. The conclusion is almost immediate. This is his dead brother’s son.

Ellis will leave Camilla with no choice.
If she wants to keep the boy, she needs to agree to his terms. She has to leave her job and move with him and her son at his home. She will also become his lover and very soon he will tell everybody that little Liam is his son. They look almost alike anyway.
Camilla has secrets. Her best friend, Christopher, has secrets. Her sister, Sasha, has secrets. But most importantly Ellis has his own secret dreams. There is this lady in red that he keeps dreaming of her.

The story is told with two points of view, by Ellis and by Camilla.

If I had to use one word to describe Camilla, I would say that she is a survivor. She has been through hell and she keeps going.
If I had to use one word to describe Ellis, I would say that he is a sweetheart. He pretends to be tough, but he has a heart of gold.

The story finishes with a cliffhanger, but to be honest I had my suspicions about this.

    Wowwwww

Pretty darn good. The BDSM is very light, and if you like the black mail trope then I would give this one a try. There’s a bit of mystery, but I figured it out early. It’s a great read IMO.

    On to book two!!

I would so give this book more then a 5 Star if I could. The story is so addictive I didn't want to put it down. Camilla has and ugly pass and she escaped it with her younger sister but she worries all the time it will catch up to her. She isn't perfect but she does what she thinks is best for her sweet little Liam and they means to never to protect him from his father. Thing happen it her secrets put her in the hold of her ex's brother. Ellis is determined to find out what happen to his brother and plans to keep Camilla close. What starts out as a forced situation turns to more. They have secret and truths to be uncovered but in the end will the feeling the at they have developed be enough to keep what Ellis never thought he was missing or wanting. This is a Must read. Yes it has a cliffhanger but the story is so good it's worth it. Can't wait for book 2.

Sexy. Passion. Lies. Secrets. Sexy. Intense. Hot. Sexy. Smoldering. Submissive. Fanning Myself. Cliffy!

So many words to describe the story of Ellis and Cammy. Did I mention this book was Sexy? I think so. Ellis--the man is a God in the D/s department. Needing to control Camilla is something he not only needs to end his nightmares, it's something he craves. Camilla- an obvious submissive that cares about her son like only a mother should!

This book is full of everything you need to butter your own buscuit. It's a true one handed read that I could NOT put down. I cannot wait for book 2 and I need it like right now! Please?

The Terms: Part One (The Terms Duet) by Ruby Rowe is a dark romance with BDSM elements

The book starts out with Camilla Rose attending her estranged ex boyfriends funeral, while there she put a pic of their son that he never met with him. Ellis notices the picture and immediately recognizes the child as his brothers. Ellis forces/demands Camilla and her son live with him, and is raised as a Burke. Camilla hate Ellis as his brother had portrayed him as an evil person with cruel intentions. As Camilla lives with Ellis she find out that is not the case and begins to question everything. Ellis has dreams of a woman in read an uses Camilla as distraction to remove those dreams. Ellis is dominant, possessive, loyal, and caring. Camilla is loving, strong, survivor, and naïve.

The book is told in dual perspective from Ellis to Camilla, which gives the reader a chance to actually understand Ellis intentions. This book was full of surprising elements that I never saw, even though they stood out and where talked about. This was my first book by the author and not my last. I absolutely loved the The Terms: Part One, I kept trying to piece together the brothers death, where the main characters knew each from. Let me tell you the author did a good job at keeping me guessing. Ellis changes from the beginning til the end, his bond with his nephew was so caring. At times he had me swoon and raging mad (only in the beginning). This was a slow-burn falling in love romance between the characters.

This book is not a standalone, there is a BDSM element between the characters such as a play room.

I recommend this book for anyone looking for a different kind of kinky book with a suspense element. It is worth the read!!

    The Terms pt.1 is awesome!!
Love a damsel in distress heroine and a alpha hero story. I love Camilla, she's a strong heroine with a golden heart, who has been through hell, but still tries to create a better life for her 3 years old son and her drugs addicted sister. She and her sister Sasha are escaping from a hurtful past and have changed their identity. She works as waitress in a night's club.

I love Ellis, he's the perfect alpha. Handsome, sexy, rich, dominating, controll freak, a genious hacker, coming from old money...a honest man with a golden heart.

Loved his moments with Liam and I guessed right about them being more than nephew - uncle...I mean he's a mini him...and Camilla being the red woman of his dream/memory...I loved the direction of the story.
    Jumping to book 2!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I absolutely love this book. It really pulls you in from the beginning. Camilla and Ellis are wonderful. The chemistry between them is obvious from the beginning. Even though there are terms they both agree to. Yes there are secrets each is keeping from the other. That doesn't take away from how hey feel about one another as time passes. This is the kind of story you don't want to put down until you finish it. That being said it will leave you at the edge of your seat waiting or the second part because as you are aware of this is only part one of the story of Camilla and Ellis. The supporting characters in this story help to make it great. They are ones you love, like Camilla's son, Liam. Ones that your heart weeps for like her sister. And of course ones that irritate you, such as Christopher and Rusty. All characters make for a wonderful and at sometimes emotional read. That said don't miss this absolutely great read by Ruby Rowe!! Looking forward to the continuation of Camilla and Ellis' story!!

Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. It was well written, and it was easy to get involved in what was going on with the characters. This is one of those books that was darkish. It started off with Ellis blackmailing Camilla. Ellis went from being a dick to a sweetie fairly quick. It was easy to see that he wasn't a real threat. Personally I had been hoping to see more of his dark, demanding side for longer. The attraction between the two of them was instant. Ellis wanted Camilla to be his submissive, and she was firmly against it. It didn't take long for her to adjust to her new sexual role. She was someone who liked to be in control. It seemed like it happened to easily with a personality like her. The consequences of the secret Camilla was keeping from Ellis was way too easy to figure out.

“I’m completely under his power. He’s controlling my body, possibly my mind, and what’s terrifying is how he’s affecting my heart."

THE TERMS: Part One by Ruby Rowe is a SINFULLY DELICIOUS, guilty pleasure read with twist after mind blowing twist!!!!! This bewitching book consumed me from start to finish. It broke my heart. Made me smile. Cry. Swoon. Shiver in delight. And caught me totally off guard!!!!

Fact. I went in blind thinking I was getting one kind of story but it morphed into something entirely different. This story, which went far beyond the typical enemies to lovers revenge tale, features a rich and powerful computer hacker, Ellis Burke, who blackmails the down on her luck Camilla Rose into moving into his lavish mansion with his three year old nephew, and forces her to be his sexual submissive to extract payment for keeping his dearly departed brother's child a secret.

“Your son is going to be raised as a Burke.”

He blames her in part for Tony's untimely death and wants to punish her mightily for her sins but never expected that his sweet Rose and her precious little boy would breach his lonely existence and tilt his world on its axis. So while this book delivered three-fold on the steamy eroticism, the edge of your seat drama and bristling intensity, what I WASN’T prepared for was the underlying depth, spellbinding mystique and stunning emotional layers that were woven so masterfully into the fabric of this beautifully profound love story.

Ruby Rowe is a PHENOMENAL writer, with a refreshingly unique voice and this combustible tale truly exceeded Every. Single. Expectation.. I relish stories like THE TERMS that explore the transformative power of love and constantly keep you guessing with your heart lodged in your throat until the very end. The tension was so palpable at times I literally held my breath from the sheer anxiety!!! This was a very visceral read for me and the FEELS were unrelenting. I was so enraptured, in fact, that I caught myself clinging to every spoken and unspoken word, analyzing every subtle gesture, found myself reveling in every soul-scorching kiss, each longing glance, each velvet caress!! The high voltage chemistry between Camilla and Ellis was absolutely ELECTRIFYING and their steamy BDSM power exchanges were titillating, smoldering hot and breathtakingly tender.

"This kiss is Patrón on the rocks, rimmed with the thickest salt. His tongue’s the lime, and in a hot second, I’m drunk from arousal, wishing I were naked so I could feel his slick-with-sweat body slide over mine."

These characters were incredibly multi-faceted, and even when they said or did things that were questionable, I always adored them. Sighhhhh!!! I love me a rich, powerful, ANGRY alpha who is a heady combo of rough-edged ruthlessness and gentle chivalry. Ellis is all that and more. He is ruggedly handsome to the point of unnerving. Tall and intimidating. Broodingly sexy. Demanding and manipulative. In essence, a man you'd NEVER want to cross. He is also tormented by bizarre, unsettling dreams of a woman in red that rock him to the core. But he also has a soft, sensitive side, is exceedingly generous and exquisitely kind, doting and noble. And the dour dude even has a wicked sense of humor that we see rare, delicious glimpses of. And his nurturing also extends to his adorably precocious nephew. Speaking of little Liam...he is TOO CUTE FOR WORDS!!...and the family bonding scenes between him, Camilla and “Boss” added a level of refreshing sweetness and buoyancy to this emotionally explosive tale.

And Camilla, a washed-up dancer turned bartender struggling to make ends meet as an out of wedlock mother, is a fascinating mix of contradictions. She is an incredibly loving and attentive momma, proud and strong-willed, but she is also withholding dangerous secrets and may be less innocent than she appears. Camilla has always been attracted to the dangerous men, the villains, and although a part of her is repulsed at the notion of being forced into being Ellis's submissive, another part of her is fiercely aroused by his raw, primal domination of her body. It's like a strike to a match, igniting her dormant sexual desires, tapping into her darkest, most FORBIDDEN cravings.

“I’m going to pleasure your body and inflict pain on you until you’re splintered down to your soul. Stripped bare and kneeling at my feet, you’ll beg me not to stop. To never let you go.”

Before long, Ellis’s wish to possess her mind, body and soul is coming true. But at what cost when love enters the equation?

As we all know, every successful Dom/Sub relationship is based on a solid foundation of trust, which these two are in short supply of. Both of these characters are terribly conflicted, and as the story progresses and fragments of their unsettling dreams and haunting memories come into focus, it adds even more strife to their stormy union, as does the unfolding mystery surrounding the death of Ellis's brother. As the drama reaches a shattering crescendo, entrenching us even deeper into a tangled web of love and deceit, dominance and submission, fate and destiny, the future of this beleaguered couple is more perilous than ever!! Will the iron clad terms of their arrangement be renegotiated to their mutual satisfaction?? Or does this tumultuous liaison have an expiration date?

Gah!!! THAT ENDING!!! Curse you, Ms. Rowe, for leaving me hanging!!!!! This cliffy, which I must say was crafted with pitch-perfect precision, was equal parts brilliant and torturous! Now I am going to have to suffer along with everyone else, counting down the days until "THE TERMS: Part Two hits our kindles!!!!!

    5 Passionate and Provocative Stars!!!

    “I submitted. He claimed me.”

The Terms: Part One is a faced paced story with a lot of secrets and unknowns and steamy romance.

I signed up for something and got so much in return for what I've bargained for. That's how I can describe this book.

It was the pacing of the story that threw me. To be honest, the words were just addicting and once I started, I couldn't stop reading. There was just a hint of something that glues me and I'm a goner. And although I love fast paced story, it was hard for me to connect with the characters at first. The intrigue and mystery is there, and the guessing of what will happen next but that I am being kept on my toes but it was a slow process. The characters will eventually grow on you and make you love them.

Most of all, I love the ENDING! I was on the breaking point of figuring everything out, and I may be correct, but there's still something that was held secret for me that makes me want to crave the the part two.

The author is new to me, and it was an exciting surprise to discover something to look forward to!

I wanted to hate her. For three years, Camilla withheld the fact that my brother had a son, Liam. Good story line, good characters I just found some of the chapters were very immature.

Can I just say...I need Part Two now!! Ruby Rowe has done an outstanding job creating this wickedly suspenseful romantic tale, full of lust, lies, and deceitfulness. If Camilla were a real-life person, I'd love to ask her how she sleeps at night, knowing there's some pretty heavy stuff she's hiding. I love her character though and feel she's sincerely trying to do what's best for her son, Liam. What's she going to do when things start to unravel? I'd have a hard time saying no to Ellis too.

Ellis will make your jaw drop--he's sexy as hell, determined, and every woman's desire. He's such a dream but dang it if he doesn't have too much money at his disposal. Basically, what Ellis wants, Ellis gets. I have to wonder if there's not more to him too.

Then there's Christopher. This story is woven so tightly and I loved every single twisted moment of it. Let's not forget, the sex is smoking hot, too. The Terms definitely ranks high on my list of romantic suspense stories for the year. Toss is some BDSM and you've got a masterfully told story here. Great job Ruby Rowe!!

  • Lauren Seiberling (Romance Novel Giveaways)

This book DID NOT end like that!!!

I was completely enthralled from page 1 and, holy moly, I CAN'T WAIT to read the next one!!!

Yes, this is Part One of a two-book duet, so I knew about the cliffhanger going in, but man, WHAT a cliffhanger!

I absolutely LOVE how Ruby writes her Doms; big chip on their shoulder, tortured, all "grrr" on the outside, but truly good guys underneath it all. Ellis is no exception. I love the way he is with Camilla and Liam.

Camilla got dealt a REALLY rough hand in life, and I'm really rooting for her and can't wait to find out what happens with her.

Speaking of "can't wait," I CAN'T WAIT to find the answers to the eighty million questions brought up in this book that I'm not gonna spoil! But I tip my hat to Ruby, who did a stellar job writing some delicious suspense that I'm just going to have to deal with until Part Two comes out in June!

All you need to know is, this book is incredibly well-written, SMOKING HOT, and will DEFINITELY leave you wanting more!

(I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)

    What A Story!!!

A Smoldering Hot Story! I Loved!!! Everything about Camilla Rose screams mystery! She is a girl on the run and it isn't just from Ellis Burke!! This story completely and utterly blew my mind in the best way possible! I wasn’t ready for the impressive storyline that kept me riveted to my kindle as I cautiously peeked around every corner wondering what would happen. My heart wasn’t ready for the incredible characters to claim ownership in a most unconventional yet powerful way. My world is in absolutely disarray and misery while I anxiously wait on pins on and needles for the other half of this marvelously heart-pounding story!

I love that the plot never falters or slows down the entire time that these characters slowly reveal their secrets and their heart to each other. A countdown is ticking off in the back of my head as mysteries clouded in the fog of hatred and intrigue clear to show the truth for the raw or exquisite treasure it is. Nothing thrills me more than to find a rare gift just as this one that pulls my heart along as it hurts and yet rejoices for each battle waged and conquered.

When you have stunning characters such as the ones in this book, you know that you have found a paradise on Earth. When their depth and complexities wash over you, they will steal your breath away as they did to me. You will long for them to heal, find happiness, and finally completion. Although none of that is in our control, the journey there is one racked with hardship and many lessons learned. Just hold your breath, dive into the swirling whirlpool that is The Terms, and allow it to fascinate and delight every step of the way.

Ruby Rowe is a new author to me, and I was pleasantly amazed and continuously fascinated by how she wove such a wonderfully brilliant story that will lure you in without even realizing its happening. It’s core is immensely powerful but deceptively simple. It will trap your mind as it shocks and thrills in its multiple layers of danger, mystery, and intrigue. Don’t lost focus as it just might steal you away from your own world without asking for your permission.
