Not rating as I dnf it had too many of my triggers.

    So. Fucking. Boring.
    100% filler and no story

This just dragged on and on and on with manufactured drama and absolutely NO depth to the issues, details, and pasts they each had during their 10 year separation. The plot was so surface, #icanteven. It was some kind of mash up between “Affair to Remember” or “Sleepless in Seattle” and your local tat shop that failed miserably. I eye-rolled so much it gave me a headache. The only thing that made it worth while was the H...total tatted up hottie with a heart of gold :)

BUT...I swear to fuck, if one more of Jaxson Kidman’s H’s use “Darlin”,as an endearment for their h I’m boycotting his books.

Total waste of my day :/

SG Ladies...not really safe. Partners for both during separation. One OW with no serious sexual details after the H/h reunite...but the h had run off and abandoned the H after they reunited leaving him to think it was over for real. I hated the h...so I could care less.

    Very emotional

Very deep emotional read. Lots of issues floating around.

River is a wonderful man and the love he has for Lacey is the kind of love every woman should have in her life. Plus he is sexy as hell.

Great read on to the next.

Wow these two just get better. Their writting is blended perfection.

This story is a freaking roller coaster of emotions. For me this is super angsty. So much heartbreak and underlying hope is woven seamlessly through the story. It's a battle of conflicting emotions, past's coming back to bite them in the ass and a boat load of what ifs. Honestly they have so much baggage to work through your hanging on the edge not really sure where the story will lead you next. It's the kind of story that builds all your hopes and dreams up. It's that one true love that will never be forgotten, promises that can't be broken and Hope that they can survive long enough to remember what lead them back to eachother. I loved this book, it made me feel. I hoped,I got angry, I cried. I was surprised more than once ... like genuinely I didn't see it coming. And finally I sighed in contentment. That ending was absolute magic, perfection in words and I just loved it.

River is that bad boy with a heart so huge it makes you hurt for him. I just want him. He's absolute perfection. Everything he done in the 10 years leading up to finally having her again all surrounds her. The yearly trips to bury rings. The constant hope he held out no matter how shitty things seemed, he just never gave up on having her. And that "darlin".... gets me every time!.

Lacy is that girl who got taken away from everything she wanted. She was sweet, funny and kind. But she held so much baggage from the past. Resentment towards her parents for taking her away. Resentment towards River for not chasing after her. And finally resentment towards herself for not being honest about the only person she loved. My heart hurt for her because you could feel how much it hurt her. She struggled so much with the past that it affected her future. Her character growth it great throughout the story. It's believable but noticeable. She was realistic and I loved that.

Together their journey was not an easy one. So many obstacles to overcome. Learning forgiveness, letting the past go. Learning to love themselves aswell as eachother all the while learning the navigate through 10 years of baggage was a hard feat. I'm exhausted after reading it. I feel emotionally drained. This story is a fairytale with a twist. It's the dream, it's a beautifully heartbreaking story. I loved it.
The writting has astonished me. It's absolutely perfect. The two authors have blending everything good about there talents and made something magical. Just honestly I love it.

    I'd definitely recommend this story.

I kindly received this ARC from the author's in exchange for an honest review.

ANOTHER 10,000 STAR REVIEW FOR ST. SKIN!!!!!

London Casey and Jaxson Kidman are rocking the world of Tattoo artists in

Lacey was in love with River, but her parents didn’t like him. She was just out of High School and she applied to a college in her town so that she could stay close to River. They had their secret spot where they would go to be alone. River had told her that he would buy the old broken down house and fix it for her, but she told him she wanted a log cabin. Then the unspeakable happened. Lacey’s parents sold their house and enrolled her in a school in New York where she could be the doctor they wanted her to be, and so that they get her away from River. On the day, they left Lacey ran to River hoping that he would take her away, but he told her to go and follow her dreams. Then when they had both done that they would meet back in their private spot on that very same day, so that they could be together again. But 10 years later and Lacey still hasn’t made it to the secret spot. She was dealing with her own demons and always made it a habit of being somewhere far away when that day of the year came around…

River loved Lacey so much that he was willing to work as a mechanic and do illegal fighting to make money so that Lacey and he could be together. He loved her that much. Then it all came to crashing down. Lacey ran to him crying that her parents were forcing her to move to New York. River knew he had to let her go so that she could follow her dreams. He opened his own tattoo parlor, then he met Tate and decided he wanted to work at St. Skin which is Hundred Falls Valley. So, he told her that she had to go and that on that very day, in however many years it took they meet at their secret spot and would be able to love each again. Yet, each year River went to the spot with the diamond ring her promised her hoping she’d be there. But she never was. On the 10thth year he goes and is leaving when she appears suddenly, but his happiness ends almost as suddenly as it came upon him…. she didn’t stay……. Will Lacey and River be able to rekindle their love after 10 years? Or Lacey will leave River again for good? Will time heal their wounds?

No Spoilers. Advanced Reader Copy read voluntarily and swooned over!!!!!

A Boy I Used to Love is such a beautiful, sexy second chance story! It's the second St. Skin story and it's just as excellent as
In Her Words (A St. Skin Novel): a bad boy new adult romance novel.

River and Lacey were college sweethearts and so in love. He was the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and she was the good, upper middle class girl with demanding parents. It didn't matter that they were opposites, and she defied her parents' wishes by dating him. It didn't matter, until it did. Until the day her parents threatened to disown her and cut her off if she didn't move to New York with them. They said it wasn't to get her away from River, but she knew it really was. They vowed to still see each other as often as they could, but you know things are never as easy as that.

Now, it's 10 years later and Lacey FINALLY makes good on the promise to come home to River. Their reunion is bittersweet, and they've got lots of talking and lots of making up to do. And damn do they ever make up! River and Lacey were just floating through life until they reconnected and once they did, it was as if they had never been apart. Things happen, though, and the tragedy near the end almost rips them apart. Thank God that both are strong, because they needed that strength.

I absolutely love A Boy I Used to Love! It's so beautiful, heartfelt and sexy. Jaxson Kidman and Karolyn James keep upping the ante on this series. Can't wait for more!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

River is a highly demanded tattoo artist at St Skin. For one day out of every year he does the same thing. He waits for a promise, made long ago, to finally be a reality. He waits for his woman to return.
Lacey was forced to make a decision that would drastically change the course of two lives, and years later, she is still paying the price for it.
River and Lacey were together, years ago. All they needed was each other. This, they knew. Why couldn't anyone else see it? Neither Lacey nor River ever found the love they shared with anyone else. But every year River held out hope of a love that, maybe stood the test of time, would return home to him. A love so pure that it could only happen once in your lifetime. A love that was never meant to be broken.
Lacey became successful in her chosen career and River worked to get by, saving and dreaming for a life he almost had. It was tough at first, time passed and life got in the way, never forgetting each other, but never coming together.
River is a guy going through the motions , waiting for that one day a year so he can begin living again. Don't get me wrong, he's no saint, but he'd gladly drop everything for his only love.
Lacey got caught up in her life. All those years ago she let someone else dictate how it should go. She feels as though the universe is keeping them apart, so she tried to move on...unsuccessfully. She didn't realize River couldn't move on either.
This is a beautiful love story told through the eyes of two people who only wanted to be with each other. They wanted forever. Life and other things got in the way. Tears, hurt, regret and anger for what could have been. What should have been. The what ifs, over the years, didn't matter. Only the here and now and how to move forward, is what mattered. Does true love fade over time? Was it really true love or lust mixed with obsession? River and Lacey would soon find out.
I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY THIS BOOK ! STORYTELLING AT IT'S FINEST !
AWESOME, COMPLEX CHARACTERS, SO REAL YOU COULD ALMOST TOUCH THEM !
After all those years, the connection, the attraction between River and Lacey was still strong, powerful, beyond their control. Their bond was undeniable.
THIS WAS ONE WILD ADVENTURE FILLED WITH SCORCHING HOT SEX ! ! !
YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO ONE-CLICK THIS BOOK ASAP ! ! !

Definitely a stand alone, only time I read about Cass and his woman was later in the story at a pool party/BBQ. Second chance reunited high school-ish sweethearts, Lacey from well off but no love to an extent controlling parents, River with no family and from the opposite side of Lacey, but they fell for each other very hard, but life forced them apart.

This story will have back history from 10 years ago then onto 5 years ago mixed up with the happening now. The only thing that really stood out to me and they way it felt was almost like the movie The Notebook but in today's time. I wanted to take time with this since it did suck me in but with the emotions I had to take breathers here and there to let what I've read really sink in.

The only negative part was when after their first time seeing each other and Lacey running, that River jumped into the next welling thoughts he can get between. Lackey wanted him to chase her but he never did, he closed up and took the first woman who throw herself at him. Other then that overall I loved it.

    LOVED IT

For me, this was a wonderful story of true love and the struggle for happily ever after by two people who are meant for each other. Lacey and River had loved each other since she was 19 and he was 21. The trouble was they were opposite ends of the "class" spectrum. Lacey's parents didn't want her with River and, without warning, moved her across the country. 10 years apart followed but their passion never died nor did their love waver. But life got in their way.

Another sweet story of true love. Maybe it's corny but it works!

    Always for love

River and Lacey loved each other 10 yes ago when suddenly her parents told her she had to move but before she left river and she made a promise to meet up in 10 yrs. River did more than that but on the 10th yr she finally saw him and things was rocky cause dealt with death so much and all he wanted was her.

    Love River and Lacey

Love reading River and Lacey's. When River and Lacey reunited I was so happy I started crying, I don't think I cried so much. Jaxson Kidman and Karolyn James are amazing Authors and if you haven't read any of there books then what are you waiting for.

    5 Stars

A Boy I Used to Love is the second book in corroboration series St. Skin from Jaxson Kidman and London Casey. This is River's story, he is sexy, tattooed, brutally honest and only has room in his heart for one girl. Lacey is River's one true love, they made a pact to meet again. River goes to the tree every year hoping its the year his beautiful Lacey is waiting for him. Ten years will pass before they see each other again. Do they both still love each other? Will River convince Lacey to live in the here and now ? Can they catch up on ten years and finally get an HEA?
This story is emotional, there were times I wanted to throw my kindle. It seemed life kept getting in this couples way and I wish fate stepped in sooner.
So be ready to laugh, cry, scream and so many sexy Ah moments. A Boy I Used to Love is worth reading and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I voluntary received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book for an honest review. Happy Reading!

    Amazing

I knew from the very beginning these two would end up together. A promise is a promise even if it took ten years. I'm looking forward to the next book. You did it again. Good job! "

    Omg! This book....

Wow, way to make me feel the feels guys! This book was amazing. So many emotions in this book. River and Lacey are my new favorite couple. Read this book, it's a must. So glad I found the St. skin series. Looking forward to the next book!

  • Claudia

River and Lacey are complete opposites of each other but somehow they fit. They thought they had plenty of time to be together and figured out their goals in life. Being with a man like River is not what Lacey's parents wanted for her. This decision cost them 10 years of intense heartbreak but neither of them forgot the promise they made the night they were ripped apart. Now that Lacey's parents aren't an issue they finally have a second chance at a relationship. Is 10 years too big an obstacle to overcome or will they renew the love that have only found each other?

  • Books Laid Bare

A second chance story that leaves no stone unturned in its pursuit of a happy ever after.
This is the consummate good girl, bad boy romance, the sort that no matter will go the distance, well that is what you might thing initially because River and Lacey were poles apart, he was the bad boy from the wrong side of town that her parents had no intension of letting her be with but that she was willing to defy them to be with…right up until they pulled the rug out from beneath her and ensured that her options weren’t only limited they were sterilised….go with them to live in New York or stay behind and be with River and they would disown her! The flush of young love aside, that was as stark choice for anyone to have to make but when River encouraged her to go and they made their young love promises to see each other, you just knew that life was going to drive a wedge between them that may never be overcome.
River waited every year for the woman that walked out of his life to walk back in, he never thought that it would take a decade to get her back but when she stepped from behind the wheel of her car, the missing piece of his heart was back where it belonged and they both knew it.
Stepping back to his life was as easy as slipping on a comfortable pair of shoes, it felt right for Lacey, he felt right and for the first time in a long time she felt peace. Her heart recognised that he was her home, they just had to find a way to make it work. They had so much to go through, so many plans to make and decisions to not only talk about but make, after all they had 10 years to make up for and I have to say they lost no time in making up for the time they had been apart!
They each had an inner strength that had helped them to prevail while they had been apart and now they were together I thought that they would be all the stronger for it but life had another kicker for the two of them to overcome and when everything they were building was almost ripped away from them at one point and I was on tenterhooks as the author unveiled the resolution!
A beautiful story of love and patience, of letting go of love in the hope that it will one day return and of the joy that a love reunited brings to your soul, this was as touchingly sensitive as it was heart-warmingly sensual!

Good girl, bad boy…you probably think you’ve heard this story before. River was the bad boy Lacey fell for much to the chagrin of her parents. They were so in love with each other and all they had was their love and their future in front of them; a future in which they thought they would always be together. Lacey’s parents had plans for her which included medical school and they knew that would never happen with that trailer trash she was seeing. So her parents did what most controlling parents would do…move her across the country or threatened to totally cut her off financially and emotionally. River only wanted the best for Lacey so he convinced her to go for now and they would meet back at their special spot ten years from now…or did he say 5 years. He couldn’t quite remember because he was already trying to drink away missing Lacey.

A lot can happen in ten years and hearts can be given to others. River and Lacey had continued on without each other but they both knew that their love that they felt for each other never wavered. So is it possible to forget each other’s past ten years and pick up right where they left off?

Karolyn James and Jaxson Kidman double teamed on the St. Skin series and it’s the best ever. The way this book was written made me feel like they gave me a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter. If you are like me, I don't like cliffhangers because I’m so impatient but writing the book this way only drew me in more and made it so I couldn’t put this book down! With everything that has been thrown at River and Lacey I couldn’t help but to hold my breath wondering if this is what finally is going to break them. A Boy I Used To Love is another hit for this duo and I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given, honest review.

Oh my....this is such an emotional read. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I had to read it in one sitting.

It is the story of River and Lacey, 10 years after her parents ripped them apart....River was a bad boy and they thought him totally unsuitable for sheltered, middle class Lacey.

They agreed to meet at their "special place" in 10 years.
River has turned up every year (with a ring he buried in the sand), Lacey has kept herself away by being "busy".

On the 10th anniversary both of them turn up....and the reader thinks all is well...but it isn't.

Those 10 years have not been good to either of them....sigh.

They keep meeting up to talk and just as they seem to be on common ground there's another twist and they're further apart than ever.

The plot moves along steadily with so many twists and turns it seems unlikely River and Lacey will get the HEA they deserve.

The characters are amazingly well developed and their feelings and reactions are true to life.

    I can't wait for book 3!

River was the epitome of a bad boy with a heart of gold and Lacey was that woman that didn't realize her own strength and courage. Forced apart at the beginning of their relationship and 10 years later finally getting the chance to start over, but reunions aren't always as easy and happy as we want them to be. They struggle trying to find a balance and chance for a future together, but it's as if the universe is against them. Can they let go of the heartache from the past and open up to a future they've longed for? Or are the destined to be ripped apart from each other and never finding the happiness they long for?

I received an advanced copy of this book and I'm not sure if words can actually describe how much I loved it. This book had so much emotion, heartache and love that I was a wreck the entire way through. I loved this book and can't wait to read more from London Casey and Jaxson Kidman. This will definitely be added to my collection

This is one emotional read. The story is told in, past and now, and alternating POV.
I loved this story and River and Lacey having so much history to relive and review. They hurt and reliving the pain of living without each other is tearing them apart mentally, emotionally and physically.
It starts with them being young and in love wanting a future together. Her parents hated him and make her leave with them moving to another state. They make a pact to return to their first place of loving on this same day, in future years and......their love holding and tearing them apart.

This is a box of tissues and maybe more. Their will be heartache, tears, love, hot sex and ending...which whether together or apart the ending will only be found if you one-click this.

I love the fact that London and Jaxson gave us such a wonderful new story. It is a version of the typical love story. In over your head,, all encompassing love with the boy that your parents hate. This love can't be denied and it's so great to read the fact that both of them had the same thoughts during the years.

I did at times want to slap the lead female but I think that comes from the fact that I didn't always agree with her reactions. You have to read her to get a full picture of her issues. I find that I end up appreciating the male lead a lot more than I had anticipated. I didn't think they could overshadow the previous St Skin male lead in Cass, and I'll always look forward to Tate.

LACEY and River's story is so emotional and beautiful at the same time so good they knew each other when they were young then Lacey got ripped away from River and he let her go but he said he would met her at the same spot they always met each other so for 10 years her has come to the same spot with a ring and waited on that day she was taken from him but she never showed up but on the last day he said he would move on she showed up oh boy he could not believe his eyes and he will never let her go again. wow what a awesome story loved it so much up and down and it starts again lol I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. A BOY I USED TO LOVE

Wow what a awesome book, such an emotional read filled with such heartache but also love. The storyline was captivating and pulled at the heartstrings. I loved River and Lacey who were such great characters, they brought this book to life. They have such an intense connection and attraction that not even time could deny, or could it? This was such a heartbreaking read but also a really sweet love story. The authors did a fantastic job with their detailed writing and visualizations for the reader. I absolutely loved it.

I loved the latest from the St. Skin guys. Lacey and River loved each other and thought they would have forever, until her family moved. Making a pact to meet at their spot in ten years, or less, both try to move on with their lives, but both know something is missing. With ten years passing both have changed, but that love still lingers and when they find their way back into each others lives they will find the happiness they have missed. I loved Lacey and River's story, it was sweet, hot, emotional and perfect. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
