Lumberjanes, Vol. 7: A Birds-Eye View Reviews

More Lumberjanes fun. You have to see what the magic kittens can do. They stole the show. There are some super old Lumberjanes who run the camp that show up and kick butt. Barney appears in this one too. It is a lot of fun. Noelle Stevenson did not write this one and she was missed a little. The art work is slightly different as well.

I have a lot of fun reading about the camp. It is a great comic and I always look forward to the next one. I am almost caught up which means I will have to wait to read them which is a bummer. Supper cool. Team work - yeah!

  • Baba

A Roc (yes that ancient fabled giant bird), an earlier generation of Lumberjanes, super powered kittens (you read that right!) and a focus on the secondary characters keeps this evolving, intriguing and utterly delightful series in it's unique space in comic-dom. 7.5 out of 12

And the female icon exclamations continues :). What in Katie Sandwina!

  • Victoria

    SO!! MANY!! MAGICAL!! KITTENS!!

Lumberjanes never fails to make me smile, it's so wholesome and I just love them all! Congrats to the newest lumberjane and the return of an old one! I'm def starting the next volume tonight

Este ya me ha gustado tanto como los del principio. Me encantan los gatetes mágicos que escupen fuego y levitan. Como siempre ha sido una maravilla, cuqui, y divertido. ♡

This issue has my least favourite artwork. But a story about 1) an overabundance of magically powered kittens (yay!) and 2) an inspection by former counselors that hilariously goes off course, was a hoot! My favourite line, courtesy of Ripley: "We're gonna play with these kitties..-till they get sleepy." And Barney is now a Lumberjane!!

This again seemed a bit too easy and straightforward to me. I loved the kittens and all their powers, it just seemed like it was the set up for the next part of the adventure. I love the inclusion of Barney though. Basically more Barney, kittens, and plot and I would have been a very happy camper.

  • Cyndi

I still love the LumberJanes but this particular edition didn’t rock my boat as much as others. Not quite as funny but I did like that they let a boy join the group.

  • Marc *Dark Reader of the Woods*

    The magic is back.

  • Brittany

Do you like kittens? Do you like magic? Do you think kittens should have magical powers? If the answer is yes to any of those three questions, then you will love Lumberjanes Vol. 7!

This is another wonderful addition to the Lumberjanes and follows along the same lines as the first 6 volumes. The girls in Roanoke cabin are once again minding their own business when all of a sudden a mystical creature comes in to wreck havoc causing the girls to use their own unique skills to find a way to save themselves and the Camp.

This is lighthearted comic that showcases the power of friendship, love and how to overcome all sorts of odd obstacles.

The women of the Grand Lodge of Lumberjanes are coming to camp to evaluate the counselors. Jen urges the inhabitants of Roanoke cabin to be on their best behavior. But then there's an influx of kittens with magical powers. And just as the Grand Lodge women arrive, a giant roc grabs the van and flies off with it. It's up to Jen and the rest to rescue them.

This series is still going strong. Seven volumes in, and it still remains as fresh and inventive as ever. The book ends with something of a surprise revelation, which I trust we’ll be dealing with at least briefly in volume 8. Highly recommended!

    SO MANY KITTIES!!!!!!

    Story
This was another fun volume. I especially loved the cats (and I'm more of a dog person), and the introduction of the Grand Lodge. I hope they do more with them in future volumes. There isn't much in terms of the ongoing story, but it does build the world of the Lumberjanes out a bit. I'm hoping they continue to explore that.

    Artwork
All the artwork is good, but I like Carey Pietsch's (Chapter 25) work better than Ayme Sotuyo's work. It just feels more polished to me

  • Erin

The 4 stars are really for the kitties with the magical powers and the elder leaders who managed to give the girls of Roanoke cabin a pretty fantastical adventure. Also, what a cliffhanger as a returning nemesis emerges. I wonder what types of drama will occur next?

  • Loretta

Oh man, this comic series managed to lure me back with a tale centering on magical kittens. I cannot handle such adorableness.

  • Sylwia

I always expect this to just be fun and entertaining, but it always ends up making me feel things and cry???

  • Bruna Miranda

This volume was just okay for me. I don't know if it was just story line or it is starting to seem the same.

  • Freya

    review to come :)

  • Basma

It's cute. This volume contains lots of cats- magical cats with abilities that are activated once your scratch their chin.

  • Nick

Magical kittens! Giant birds! Sassy senior citizens! Positive LGBTQ+ representation! Yay! This was so fun!

  • eli

i LOVE that barney is nonbinary !! this was so cute and good i loved hes a lot shes so gay.. omg.. luv this good diverse comic

  • Alyssa

I love Marigold and I wish my cats had magic powers.

  • Emma

A solid Lumberjanes addition. Not one of my favorites but thoroughly entertaining. I also loved the addition of a new Lumberjane, Barney, and getting to see some of the campers in other cabins.

  • Sarah

I loved this one!!! Especially the ending, for sure ❤️ I don't know how they keep doing such a great job with this series. I'm impressed.

  • Darinda

The camp is being visited by the High Council. They are coming to evaluate the counselors, so, naturally, Jen freaks out. She asks the Roanoke cabin (Jo, April, Ripley, Mal, and Molly) to not do any crazy supernatural stuff. The adventures in this book also include Barney, from the Scouting Lads camp, and Hes, from the Zodiac cabin.

Lumberjanes, Volume 7: A Bird's-Eye View contains comics #25-28 in the series.
    #25 - Kittens. Supernatural kittens.
#26 - The Lumberjanes track the giant bird that took off with the High Council and their van.
#27 - The Lumberjanes must escape from the giant bird.
    #28 - Return to camp.

  • Maggie Gordon

Volume 7 of Lumberjanes features MAGICAL KITTIES! I'm always down for magical cats, and these ones do all sorts of fantastic things, including floating, telekinesis, and embiggening. The rest of the story is normal Lumberjanes: there's a giant bird that causes havoc and girls learning lessons about friendship. Not so sure I love the new art, but this series continues to be cute and quite good for the younger crowd.

  • Chelsea

3 1/2 stars - cute, fun, and entertaining, as Lumberjanes usually is! Not my favorite, as this one didn't really focus on any of the characters and was basically just centered around one wacky, somewhat forgettable adventure. Still an enjoyable graphic novel series I will continue to recommend!

I stopped reading for the most part from 2016 to 2021. I feel like I'm just getting the urge to read back, and I revisited this volume of Lumberjanes as I'm getting caught up with the series. The magical kittehs were a delight. As were the Lumberjanes themselves...as always. <3
