Black, Blue Gray: African Americans in the Civil War Reviews

I believe so many Americans should read this phenomenal book. So so so much hatred going on today with the burning of the flag and the tearing down of civil war monuments and NO ONE even realizes how many African Americans actually wanted that war and to fight for freedom in this war. This was the first step to civil rights. The book was so very loving for me. It was an absolute honor to read such a well written and educational piece to history!

Very good material. I felt certain threads could have been followed more strongly, particularly the issue of soldiers pay. The governments reneging on their promise of equal pay was picked up and then dropped repeatedly.

Quick read, truthful, straightforward without undue exageration.
