They Say/I Say with Readings Reviews
-
The first part of the text teaches how to write persuasively. It provides examples and templates for organizing your thoughts well. The book is effective and interesting. The second part of the text is a series of articles and papers illustrating the points and techniques from the first. I found these articles interesting both in technique and content. Several of the articles have prompted me to further research on that topic. I recommend the book and hope I am a better writer now.

yet another textbook i read for college. it had some very insightful tips for writing, but since i don’t really like academic writing, it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Good for teaching.

My daughter was assigned this book for a college English class. I wish I read it years ago. As an English teacher, I needed these reminders on how to help my students have better writing. I absolutely love the templates. They are outstanding. I want to take them to every student desk. I want to put them in their binders. This book could be revolutionary for the way students write essays. I love the sandwich strategy with the way to introduce a quote with the author and a little bit of background and then the quote in the analysis. I feel like everything in this book is something I have taught my students so many times, and yet they ignore me or think I’m crazy. Renewed with energy to teach my students how to be better writers. I hope my daughter can learn as much.
