I think this was a good book to explain sadness. The kid was sad about his friend moving and I liked that because it is a very realistic reason why a young child might be sad because they don't understand why someone might move. It is also hard to leave your best friend. I also liked the dad saying it is okay to be sad and you will make new friends. It really just shows that having emotions are okay and you will get through it, it is a part of life. Kids should learn this young.
