The Potters of Mata Ortiz: Los Ceramistas de Mata Ortiz by Bill Gilbert

In the past three decades, Mata Ortiz, Mexico, has experienced a revival of the region's ancient ceramic tradition. With over 50 pots by 26 artists, this catalog explores and illustrates for the first time the range and vitality of the work coming out of Maya Ortiz, from pots which still focus on the traditional forms of ancient Casa Grande ceramics, to those in which individualistic virtuosity has led to technical and stylistic leaps which transform that tradition.
