Overall Opinion: This had a familiar feel to it, as it has some similarities to the
The Opportunist series IMO. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing! I was super into that series and really enjoyed it when I read it a while ago. I’m not huge on revenge type stories, but for some reason this sucked me in. It’s definitely not safe for the safety gang gals out there, and it definitely has the h doing some crazy and drastic things to get her true love back!! I’m enjoying it for now and I just hope that the next book,
The Evolution of Ivy: Antidote, ends the duet with a bang!
Brief Summary of the Storyline: I will keep this vague in hopes of not ruining it. This is mainly Ivy/Emily’s story. When younger, Ivy gets befriended by and falls in love with Brooks. Circumstances caused them to separate and when he returns she is no longer the same girl. He moves on and they are never the same. Ivy never forgot that love, and years later she makes some drastic changes and inserts herself into Brooks’s life. There is some conniving revenge going on, some sexy times, some big drama...and we get a cliffy.
POV: This alternated between Emily (mainly) and Brooks’s POV. There is one section in the H’s fiancé, Eliza’s, POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Ok. There were a few times I skimmed, but I just wanted to get to the good stuff!
Instalove: No, but there are hints at “soulmate” type connection that comes back.
H rating: 3 stars. Brooks. I liked him ok, but I also was disappointed in him and his ability to turn a blind eye a lot.
h rating: 3.5 stars. Ivy/Emily. Man! She was kinda coo coo for Cocoa Puffs! I kinda liked that about her too though 😉
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Push/Pull: Yes
Heat level: Ok. There are some ok scenes -- but there aren’t any scenes with the h and H together.
Descriptive sex: Yes
OW/OM drama: Yes
Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes
Cheating: Yes
Separation: No. The h and H aren’t “together” for the timeframe in this book.
Possible Triggers: Yes
Closure: This had ok closure for a cliffhanger. You definitely need to read the next book in the duet to get full closure for the couple.
How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.
Safety: This one is probably Not Safe for most safety gang readers -
5 Determined Stars!!
How great does it feel to try a new author, be engrossed by the blurb, pay only a dollar, and then end up loving the shit out of it??
It feels amazing!!!!
Let me tell you about this book, which was right up my alley.
My first impression of Ivy was that she was totally crazy pants (always a good thing). She is one determined woman, and I adored her plotting and scheming ways. She still thinks about the boy that she had a huge connection with years ago. Upon finding out that Brooks Jansen, her 5th grade love, is now getting engaged, gives Ivy the motivation to finally do something about it.
Ivy is on a mission. She's changed her whole look and will try to cause a wedge between the couple. She's going to attempt to get revenge and stake her claim on what she believes to be hers.
Told through both past, present, and dual POV's, find out if Ivy, now named Emily, will be able to weave through a slew of obstacles to get Brooks back. He has no clue.
The Evolution of Ivy was such an intriguing read. If I would've had the time, I could easily see reading this in one sitting. I loved all the characters and the flow of the story. Ivy/Emily is tenacious and cunning, but she's also flawed and broken. You can't help but not be on her side even if you think she's slightly unhinged.
As the ending is more open versus a cliffhanger, you won't have a mental breakdown to see what happens next. But let me tell you, you'll still be wanting more. Thank goodness the second installment is set to come out early spring, so the wait won't be excruciating.
I'd recommend this to anyone, but I especially think people who have read and loved You by Caroline Kepnes will especially enjoy some of the lengths that Ivy/Emily will go. Definitely worth a try. The fact that this was only my second 5 star read of 2017 should tell you how much I enjoyed this one. The author did a fantastic job in sucking you in. She's definitely one to look out for, and she's also found a fan in me. -
4.5-5 brilliant stars <3
I read this yesterday, I was hooked and I couldn't put it down.I find it accidentally and I'm glad I did.Brilliant and unique story. So different from whatever I have read so far! I loved being in Ivy's mimd. This story was captivating.
I need the next book!!! -
4.5 unsure stars. I struggled with this rating because, in all honesty, there is nothing about it that I should have liked. The heroine, Ivy/Emily is (for a lot of the book) depressed, weak, and envious of all those around her. She's pretty vocal about her misery and doesn't stand up for herself. The men in this book are not the dominant Alphas I usually enjoy. The MMC, Brooks, is a nice, stand-up guy, and there are some other men too, but none of them are true bad boys, as is my preference. The FMC is out for revenge, but it's not violent or OTT. There's sex, but it's sparse and not crazy smokin' hot.
BUT...
I could not put this down. I loved Ivy/Emily's character--her thoughts, the way she looked at things. She was petty and jealous, but she had kind of a shit life, so she had reason to be. Plus, she's so snarky about it, I kind of loved that about her too.
"All of us draw tiles, and Eliza draws an A and gets to go first, because apparently she doesn't win enough in life with her rich parents and her Calvin Klein model boyfriend and her perfect, giant diamond."
She is a little off the rails, but she owns it...
"At least I'm sane enough to know if he did find out, he'd probably think I was a special breed of psycho unicorn..."
And relishes in every small victory...
"And at the end of the day, her misery is a gooey chocolate chip cookie."
Eliza is with Brooks. Ivy/Emily wants Brooks back, and I found myself really torn while reading. I was rooting for Ivy/Emily but knowing I shouldn't because of her craziness, simultaneously feeling sorry for and being annoyed with Eliza then later hating her, and all the while, I'm thinking so much trouble for this man??
Not only could I not put it down, I was really impressed with the editing, and this is huge for me. In fact, it was so amazing that even the characters are mentally correcting each other. :)))
"I want to tell her it's lie and not lay, but I let it go."
Even more impressive--this is Lauren Campbell's debut novel. Well done! And I will definitely be on the lookout for more from her, starting with
The Evolution of Ivy, book 2 -
*5 Ivy stars*
Are you contemplating on which new release to read?
Are you looking for a book that takes you on an emotional ride?
Do you love a book which gets you high on some drama, loads of angst and a love triangle?
If your answer is YES then you got to drop everything and READ THIS BOOK LIKE NOW!!!!!!!!
Can you believe I read this book in one sitting when I take nearly a week to finish one?
That’s how addicting this story is! The Evolution of Ivy is simply palpable, heart-wrenching, and beyond your usual romance with a strong protagonist who will steal your heart.
At the onset, this story is about a desperate woman on a mission to get the love of her life back with any means necessary…
As the story unravels, you get to see the pain and honesty behind her intention; it’s not what we usually see in a love triangle or a woman being obsessed with a guy but the brutal reality of Ivy’s past and chain of events which leads to this decision.
I know I’m being vague, this is one of those stories you need to just get on with and enjoy the crazy experience. What I will talk is this author’s great writing skills.
Lauren Campbell is a master storyteller, she has the ability to grab your attention from the very first chapter, put you through a whirlwind of emotions and make you part of it without your knowledge. Don’t get me started on the characters, she has written such complex characters that you might hate or love but even so, they will definitely stay with you after you’ve finished reading it. The best part of this story is it has multiple POV’s with a smooth transition from one’s perspective without causing any confusion and that dear friends happen rarely.
Ivy’s character is something which grows on you for sure. Her entire journey, a transformation from a helpless little girl to a callous, ambitious young woman is brilliantly executed. It’s more than a mere novel, the whole experience has been thought provoking; I kept asking myself - are you strong enough to do what Ivy did? Is love worth all the trouble?
Sometimes losing your innocence and being selfish isn’t a bad thing, well that’s what this book does to you, question your own principles and sanity.
With a fresh new voice and a refreshing storyline, this debut author is one to look out for!! Can’t wait to read more from Lauren.

4.5/5 stars
The Evolution of Ivy is book 1 of what appears to be a duology.
The book is told in alternating POVs. However the main point of view is Ivy's 1st person POV. The book goes back and forth between the present (2015) and various times in the past.
Ivy met Brooks when they were kids. She was poor and was bullied a lot. They grew apart. But now they are adults (she is 27) and she wants what she wants.
I thought that the first chapter was interesting and so different. I wasn't in the mood for a traditional romance. I was happy to read something different and exciting. I don't even really know what genre to put this book in. It's not a contemporary romance although there is some romance. I have seen it labelled as "dark". Even though there are some darker things in the story most of the books that I have read that are labelled "dark" are much more disturbing.
I could not put this book down. You should hate Ivy. But I was rooting for her. She was damaged and a bit psycho. But I really liked her. She was definitely disturbed. But I found other characters to be much worse (meaner, crazier, bitchier). So I didn't mind cheering for Ivy.
I sort of didn't mind that some of the chapters went into the past. But I wish that it wasn't every few chapters, as I much preferred the present.
The book blurb says, "Strong language, strong sexual content. Book 1 in a series, but can be read as a standalone." I actually completely disagree with this warning. I did not find the language to be particularly strong. Yes there is some sexual content. And while I will say that this book is most suitable for 18+ I don't think that this book has more sexual content than the typical contemporary romance. Also, I really do not feel like this book can be read as a standalone. There is not exactly a cliffhanger ending, but the book ends off in a place where you will need to read book two. I was not satisfied that this was a complete story. I definitely need book two to see where the story goes.
The book is addictive. The book is crazy. I almost felt like I was reading Tarryn Fisher. I did not know exactly what this book would be about. But I really enjoyed it a lot. I need book two now. -

I liked this one but sadly I didn't love it. I was actually kind of bored. I kept waiting for Ivy/Emily to do something drastic (besides a makeover) to get the love of her life back but it never happened. Let's just say I was disappointed with Ivy/Emily! I wanted her to own her crazy thoughts! Even after she found out all that she did I was praying that she would quit thinking about crazy shit and do it! lol
Don't get me wrong I liked Ivy/Emily. I felt sorry for her. I didn't really feel like she was crazy though. Hell she didn't do anything crazy but think! Think! Think! Think! lol She had a shit childhood because she was in a school full of rich kids (because her dad was the janitor) and she was poor. Then she was being bullied because of an accident that supposedly made her ugly. I wanted her to get some revenge on these bitches! lol
I didn't care for Brookes. I wanted Ivy/Emily to wake up and tell them all to fuck off and go find her a new man! A man that would love her for her and not the her she had to make herself look in order to get Brookes attention. IMO he never will deserve her!
I didn't really get the whole Deacon (Brookes best friend) thing either. I felt all of that drama was pointless. Maybe it will make more sense in the next book. lol
So even though this book didn't really work for me doesn't mean that it won't work for you. Everybody knows I'm an oddball. So I hope you try this and love it even though I didn't:))
Will I be reading the next one? I doubt it. I think I'm going to pretend that Beautiful Ivy/Emily grew some balls and found a real man and is living the life! -
If you like revenge-themed books, crazy characters, and are looking for something similar to
The Opportunist and
You -- this is your book!
Ivy was a real treat, and I was pleasantly surprised when I learned it was this author's debut. I will definitely be reading the sequel.
It's about a girl Ivy, who was bullied in school, and she undergoes a series of plastic surgeries to change her appearance in order to win back a guy she loves, or thinks she loves... or, well let's say is obsessed with.
As you can see, right from the start, Ivy - now Emily, is not your typical girl. ;)
And there her adventures begin, her attempt to infiltrate Brooks' life. I will say no more about the plot. Read it.
The chapters give us mostly Emily's present POV, with several chapters from Brooks' POV, and several flashbacks (Ivy's POV).
Characters were probably my favorite part. Other than Emily and Brooks, there's Eliza, Brooks' current girlfriend and Declan, his BFF. I liked that, the more you read, the more other characters reveal their true colors as well, and by the end, you don't know who to root for.
In the end, Ivy has my recommendations! The ending is not a cliffhanger, but by the end, you'll want more, and I'm anxiously waiting for

Jen and Roxie's Review
BAM! And that's how it's done!!
Cracktastic. Delicious. Evil. Poisonous. Perfection. These are just some of the words we'd use to describe The Evolution of Ivy: Poison by Lauren Campbell. We hit the jackpot when we one clicked this debut book.
From the moment the book began, we were instantly hooked. A roller coaster ride—up, down, upside down, twisting, with our stomachs in knots. The plot was CRAZY with the perfect blend of angst, surprises and WTF moments.
First of all Ivy, she is almost an antiheroine. She is walking a fine line between "hello you need help", but at the same time we couldn't stop ourselves from rooting for her. Her obsession is borderline psychotic yet here we are cheering her on as she dives into her plan."I'm crazy for subjecting myself to all of this. But true love requires true sacrifice."
This book is refreshing and complicated. It's almost impossible to review it in depth without giving away the twisted and multilayered plot."I'm crossing an ocean for someone who wouldn't jump a puddle for me."
We love when we can get lost in a story. We love when we don't know where it will take us. We love the unpredictable path an author takes to give us their story.
Look out book world, Lauren Campbell is on the rise and is definitely an author to watch. Her writing was fantastic, her plot was so different and intriguing, and she gave us one hell of a bookgasm!! -
So much shallowness, I love it! It's such an entertaining book and I can't wait to read the sequel. Plus, I got it for only $0.99. :-)
-
They say don't judge a book by its cover but the cover of this book is what made me intrigued and then the blurb I read about it got me interested. I knew I had to read it!! And luckily I won the ebook in a giveaway by the author. And now that I've read it, I can honestly say it's amazing!! A lot of times when theres a character like this you don't really like them but I found myself on Ivy's side and rooting for her the whole time. (Does that make me as crazy as her? IDK).. I found myself mentally justifying every crazy thing she does.. this book is insane but it's great!!! I loved it. A real page turner
-
OMG this was FREAKING AMAZING!!!!
I got major Olivia Kaspen and Joe Goldberg vibes, but the author has given the story and Ivy/Emily her own spin and I loved it <3
Anyway, I need the sequel now!!! -
The Evolution of Ivy: Poison blipped onto my radar because of the blurb. I mean, read it, chick sounds devious, vengeful and determined. I love that kind of shit. I like taking a peek into the heads of crazy people.
Ivy is that. Crazy. Devious. Vengeful. Most definitely determined. It’s not likely that you will like her. It’s not likely that you will understand the lengths in which she will go to get what she wants.
Or, at least, that’s how I came out of this read. Ivy is not really the hero in this story. There isn’t one. I finished the last page of this book basically disliking every single character. Yet, you don’t hate Ivy either. It’s a really twisted feeling. You want her to win but you know she doesn’t completely deserve to either. It’s all a lot of mindfuckery.
I don’t even know how to start to describe the story, there is just too much to giveaway and nobody likes a spoiler. The basic gist is that Ivy and Brooks were childhood friends of the closest kind. He left for a time and when he came back, Ivy had changed physically and their friendship didn’t survive it. It’s a betrayal Ivy has carried with her forever and now she’s in a position to enact some revenge.
The thing is…it’s hard to get behind exactly who she wants her wrath to fall on. It’s not Brooks but, in my eyes, he’s the one who had stabbed her with the sharpest knife. Again, it’s a bit of mindfuckery, your feelings reading this book are all over the place. Something I really didn’t mind, at all. You question a lot of the motives and feelings of the characters and I appreciate that so much.
One issue I had was with was the pacing. There were a few times the story fell off for me, it’s awfully slow at times. Another issue - there is one strange side story unraveling that I don’t fully understand it’s purpose. It threw me off track. I’m sure it gets explored more in the next book and hopefully it’s placement will become clear at that point.
Final thought – it’s not a bad debut. Campbell shows some promise as an author with a great imagination and a twisted sense of portraying right and wrong. I’ll absolutely be picking up the next book, I just won’t really be biting my nails in anticipation. -
4.25 Stars!
A friend had read this novel by debut author Lauren Campbell several months ago and I've finally just gotten to it. Wow. I see why she kept telling me to read it.
This book has a very Tarryn Fisher book feel to it for me. It's a plot revolving around a psychologically disturbed woman going after the guy she lost back in...wait for it...elementary school. He moved out of the country and when Brooks finally returns, she's ignored and treated as the school ugly girl. Commence her goal to become beautiful and win the guy back from his non-deserving fiancée.
Ivy is one emotionally disturbed girl. At times I really felt sad for her because she's truly been bullied and treated like a nobody for most of her life. But then the things she would say and do made me realize she needs to be in a psychiatric hospital more than with the unknowing Brooks.
A first-time novel for Lauren Campbell, the plot is suspenseful and addictive. I didn't know who to root for in this twisted romance. It appears a second book is on the horizon though this doesn't necessarily end in a cliffhanger. There's still a lot of story to be told, I'm sure...

"...true love requires true sacrifice."
Holy $h!t!!! What the hell did I just read?! I bought The Evolution of Ivy: Poison on a recommendation from my blogger friend Jen from Schmexy Girl and devoured this book in ONE SITTING on this cold blizzard day!! Crazy, psychotic, addicting...this book is deliciously intriguing and mind boggling f'd up!
What would you do if your trust was betrayed? If the love of your life was taken away? Would you do anything and everything to get him back? Jump into the mind of Poison Ivy as she struggles with her beauty, self esteem, and revenge as she fights to win back the love of her life and at what cost be damned.
Told in a couple of alternating POV's and in the past and present, you will learn everything about these characters. There are several OMG moments that will leave you completely speechless. Even now, I still can't believe how it all went down! I am seriously intrigued and left wanting more after that ending and can't wait to read what happens next...Another new author to follow - I feel like I am on a book high right now!!! What the heck is going to top this feeling - GAH!
I know I am not saying too much but read this excerpt....read these teasers and find out why you HAVE TO READ The Evolution of Ivy: Poison. This book and the author's writing style is very reminiscent of how I felt after reading Tarryn Fisher's The Opportunist. It is bat shit crazy but I can't stop thinking about it...trust me - just read it! And honestly for $.99 this book is a steal and worth so much more than what it costs - DO IT!!!! -

***Full Review To Come*** -
I’m going to be honest by saying my feelings towards this one are super mixed. A part of me really enjoyed this book and yet another part of me didn’t care much at all. A part of me thought it was all kinds of crazy whereas another part of me thought the book failed to deliver the punch I had been hoping it would. It’s such a paradoxical read, for me, thus my three star rating is a very limited reflection of the book. I know many will love it, there were also be those who won’t like it at all, but I’m stuck somewhere between the two and I have no idea how I truly feel.
When things were moving, I was really enjoying this book. There are many elements to the story, many things that leave you questioning where things are going, and I was always interested in what would come next. However, I feel as though there were many points where the story wasn’t moving at the rate it should have been. We’d often get caught up in elements of the story, and usually these were things that didn’t interest me much.
You see the story promised all kinds of darkness. I was promised a revenge story. However, I felt as though I was simply reading a story of makeovers and attempts at recreating oneself. I know this is a large part of the story, I know it plays in with the elements of revenge and slipping in unnoticed, and yet I felt as though it overshadowed the good stuff. I grew bored of waiting for our main character to do something amazing, something mind-blowingly evil. She had many nasty thoughts, she was constantly contemplating doing things, and yet she never seemed to act upon them. Not in the way I had wanted.
I think this plays in with the fact I never came to like any of the characters. I understand that we’re not supposed to like anyone – in the favourite fashion since Gone Girl, nobody here is a ‘good’ character – yet I wanted to feel something other than indifference towards someone. Even when we find out what had happened to result in the revenge mission, I failed to feel any deep complex emotions. I gave a nod of my head, thought ‘okay then’, and continued on. Had I felt something, even the tiniest of things, I would have probably enjoyed it a lot more.
I feel as though a lot of what happened in this book is in fact build up for what is to come. Unfortunately, it failed to grip me in the consistent manner that will leave me picking up the next book.
Thus, whilst it had some moments where I was pulled into the story, as a whole it didn’t do enough to have me coming back for round two.
I’m sure many will enjoy this – sadly, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. -
This book really makes you think, I loved how detailed and descriptive the author was. For this being her first book, she's pretty damn good. In this book we really get into the mind set of Ivy and see how she feels. We get to see first hand on what she went through as a teen especially after losing her best friend and first love. After tragedies in her life she is reunited to the one she has sought after for so long. Only there's something standing in her way and feelings will be hurt, people will not see her coming.
I really enjoyed reading The Evolution of Ivy: Poison, if I was to choose my favorite character it would be Deacon, he was the underdog and my heart went out to him. He just wanted love. I can't wait to see what comes next in the sequel. I have so many questions I need answers to. I need to know where this takes Brooks and Emily. What happens to Deacon or even Jared? I just need more, I don't think I got my full fix of these characters and Im so excited to see what Lauren Campbell has in store for us. -
Holy smokes! I'm so glad I decided to give this book a chance.
If you've read The Opportunist, then you already know in which direction this book is headed. I did enjoy it, immensely. I just wish the love interest wasn't such an asshole during the flashback scenes. Also, having plastic surgery just to get a man is problematic but the main character isn't exactly the most sane person.
Can't wait to see what happens next. I'm hooked! -

I absolutely LOVED this crazy story. The heroine is one of the most memorable characters I have ever read.

Tbh, I lowkey love Ivy/Emily despite the effed up schemes and machinations. 😁😊

5 'Love is a roadblock.' Stars
Like the sands through an hourglass so are the days of Ivy's life. Poor, poor, little societally ugly, Ivy Hobbs. Seriously though. Now that the ugly ducking has plastically emerged and transformed into the beautiful swan, Emily Brandt is out for revenge.
He will be hers again, afterall he was hers first!
It's only fair.
It's only right.
Hers, hers, HERS!
Afterall, 'love is patient.' Right?!
'He'd still never give me the time of day, would never acknowledge what we once had that now lives alone in my heart.'
I'm not sure where Lauren Campbell came from but I'm addicted to her unique brand of story telling. If you're into villainous alpha assholes, you need to meet this luscious, vile, yet addictive, evil heroine from the pits of ugly. Ivy Hobbs/Emily Brandt. Oh my freaking god! I have to admit that I do love her spirit! She's a go getter, not one to sit back... for long *wink*
'Sometimes I wish I could slit my wrists and bleed my love for him until it's all gone, because it consumes me. Controls me.'
Love would be an understatement of my feelings towards this beautifully crafted gem! It's solid gold! Like Emily, I'm a bit obsessed... but I mean well lol.
Flawless transition from past to present, character to character, it flows smooth without confusion. I would find myself cackling at the most inappropriate times. Because casseroles of emotions set me into hysterics.
'I'm a casserole of emotions. Each time they touch is another minute burning in the oven. I'm afraid eventually there will be nothing left of me but blackness.'
The Evolution of Ivy: poison will be a book that sticks with me for quite a long time because books such as this one, you don't forget. Unique in delivery with such decadent and rich characters and story line, this one is every booknerds wet dream come to print *wink*
If you need me, I'll be rocking in the corner until book two is published. I neeeeeeeds it now! -
*4-4.5 stars*
This book really surprised me, and in a good way. It was all kinds of crazy, but I was hooked from page one, and dying to find out how it all unfolds. It wasn't your typical romance book with a sex scene every second page, those which I just can't connect with on any level. There was a solid suspenseful story line, albeit a little crazy, undeniably gripping. Not much character depth, but the uniqueness of the premise made up for that. Can't wait to dive into the next one !!!!! -
Ohhhh Ivy....poor, sad, tragic, delusional thinking Ivy. You are crazy and warped, but you're just a hurt little girl, with a lot of resources, time, and a plan that she will see through come hell or high water. I enjoyed this wild ride.

The Evolution of Ivy: Poison is an addicting debut novel from Lauren Campbell. The main character, Ivy, is a tormented young girl enduring an endlessly painful life.
"I scurry to the back of the classroom, making eye contact with no one, and take my seat. New outfits, fresh haircuts, and confidence burst from this room, this concrete prison where the kids are wardens, and I'm on Death Row."
As her future circumstances change, she decides to assume a new identity and remake her life for the better. Her main goal: acquire the love of Brooks, the only boy she ever cared for. Ivy has a take no prisoners approach to her new lifestyle. After all, a person can only be hurt so many times. She refuses to let her plans be thwarted, no matter the cost.
As a reader, I love my fictional characters with a side of crazy. Crazy people know life, they understand pain, and they don't live in the traditional ways society imposes. This always makes for an interesting story. The only thing that kept me from reading Ivy sooner were my hangups about the mature content within the pages. I normally try to avoid the more graphic and gritty novels because it simply makes me uncomfortable and isn't my taste. However, I knew I was going to love this story if I could overlook the parts I was apprehensive about.
Everything about this story, especially the characterization and plot were on point. Let's not forget the amazing cover design by Murphy Rae of Indie Solutions. Lauren's ability to tell Ivy's story had me turning pages faster than I expected. I could have finished the book in a day, but chose to savor it one more, to make the story more memorable. My empathy was triggered for Ivy's past. It was heartbreaking to read the cruelty she faced, and I couldn't help rooting for her to get revenge and take back the life she deserved, despite her less than moral antics. The story alternated between Ivy's past and present, something I love as a reader, as it allows me to connect to the characters in a deeper way. We also were able to hear a bit of Brooks' voice, and I couldn't help but fall in love with the guy.
This is a sharply written, genre-busting page turner worth reading immediately, especially for fans of psychological thrillers. I was immensely impressed with Lauren's storytelling and her ability to put me into Ivy's mind so thoroughly. The Evolution of Ivy feels like the work of an author with eons of experience, not the debut novel it is. I can't wait to see The Evolution of Lauren Campbell as she shares more of her stories with the world. I see the title New York Times Bestselling Author in her future. Give me more cray, cray, Lauren!!!
