Yes, yes, yes! I so loved this book. So full of action and non stop drama. A certified banger, from page one to the very last word! These four cousins with different drama of their very own, linked to one crazy man who wants them all to die because he feels betrayed.

    Book Title: Dirty South Divas
    Author: Kia
Characters: Divine, Neiman, Malina, Nissa, Bishop, Glory, Slick, Percy, Perlin, Chola, & Johan
    Overall Rating: 4.5 stars
This story is centered around a set of cousins Divine, Neiman, Malina & Nissa. They are all pretty close and know everything about one another or at least it seems that way in the beginning. The book opens up with Divine waiting for the verdict to come down for her boyfriend on a triple homicide. The twist is that her first boyfriend, Slick, is the brother of one of the murder victims. Of course he gets Life without the possibility of parole and we know that this is probably the end of that relationship. Later we see Bishop contact Divine and while he is the brother to her now imprisoned ex she really didn’t deal with him on that level. He wants her to deliver some money that he supposedly owes to his connect. Being that she is the loyal type and didn’t want to see him more jammed up than he already is because of his potential indictment by the Feds, Divine enlists that help of her cousin Malina and they make the drive from Dallas, TX to California. They arrive in California only to find out that Bishop really set them up by sending them without the full amount that he owes. Fortunately for them Johan and his father don’t believe in killing innocents and after determining that they are pawns, he makes his coo coo for cocoa puffs sister, Chola stand down. The drama seems to only escalate from this point and continues until the very last page. Divine out of all of the women in the story to me was the most genuine. She moved quietly but she was smart and didn’t allow people to violate or disrespect her. We didn’t get an entire backstory on her past but it is obvious that at one point in her life she was a straight fool for Slick and as a result she has learned to be a little wiser in the way that she carries herself. If there is one fault that she possesses it would have to be her unfailing loyalty to those around her that aren’t as loyal and the love of her family. Malina in my opinion had all the attributes of snake behavior. She moved too shifty and was entirely too thirsty for anyone to ever give her 100% of their trust. Case and point the fact that she even fixes her face to say that she wanted to sleep with her 1st cousin, Divine’s ex made her all the way trifling in my book. Whether Divine had feelings for this man or not was a moot point it’s just some things you don’t do and screwing a man behind blood family is a HUGE NO NO in my book. I also didn’t like the way that she acted as if she wasn’t used to anything. In the lifestyle that they were set to enter this was a sure-fire way to ensure that they were either killed or jacked up by the police. Neiman was dumber than 2 stacks of rocks and bag of baking powder. Now I understand that there are women out there that are in love with love and will do ANYTHING that they deem to be necessary to get and keep a man but dang what more does someone have to do for a person to wise up and start thinking about self. It was like she had a self-destruct button inside of her. There has to be more to her past for her to move the way that she does. This man Perlin had not 1 but 2 baby mamas and was shot hiding in the closet by the husband of one of these women. If that wasn’t enough her nephew PJ was kidnapped with 100,000 ransom and this dizzy heifer was still consumed with how she was going to get the money to pay for an operation for the same man who had given him her behind to kiss each and every time. I just don’t understand the level of foolishness that had to be going through her mind and I truly understand the exasperation that her family exhibited because as my grandmother used to say, “even an old dog get tired of the same old mess!” I wanted to say “bless her po lil’ heart” but even I couldn’t really muster up enough empathy to honestly care. She just seemed unwilling or even unable to stop trying to please men and get herself together first. Glory seems like he is an admirable dude but then I’m just not sure about him. I had to give him the side-eye once it was revealed what he had the girls delivering for him so I can only say that he appears to be on the up and up. I guess we will have to wait for part two to see. Nycee, Nycee, Nycee I truly felt sorry for. It just seemed as if all of her lies, deceit, and dirt came back to royally bite her in the behind. She crossed the wrong one it would seem and then to see that she knowingly crossed the one person that would have always had her back, Divine was a bit much to swallow. At this juncture I just don’t know how that whole scenario is going to play out. Bishop was nuttier than a fruitcake and grimier than a subway station. I knew something wasn’t clean in the milk when it came to him but I tell you I honestly didn’t think he was dirty as all of that. My overall take on the book was that it was good. Several of the characters left a lot to be desired but I honestly can say that the author drew you into the storyline and whether you hated the characters or not you couldn’t put the book down until the end. My only take away would have to be the backstory to why some of the characters moved the way that they did but that can be chalked up to my level of interest and wanting to know as much as I possibly can. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever read anything by this author but I will surely be on the lookout for more in the future. So if you are looking for something that brings nonstop drama from almost the first page until the last, then this is definitely the book for you. Good Job Kia looking forward to what you have up your sleeve for us next!!!

    Wow

When you choose to be sneaky and try to play with people emotions. The secrets that you try your best to hide will eventually be uncovered. Nyssa had everybody fooled by playing hoe game's. Which eventually started to affect all those who were closest to her. Neiman need to get a backbone and learn what self love it. Divine and Malina was trying to just live a make a better life for themselves until they made a deal with the devil. Bishop is a bitter snake who feel he has a point to prove.

Kia my friend, you did the Damon thang when you wrote this book. I don't know how you came up with this storyline, but it was excellent. There was a small hiccup in the beginning, but I skipped it and kept reading. Those women take the phrase keeping it in the family to the extreme. They were also very sneaky. Nysssa really got the brunt of it all because of greed and dishonesty. Divine was the level headed one, but she's about to become unravelled.

This was a very good read. There were so many twists and turns, that I almost became dizzy while turning the pages. Nothing but drama from beginning to end. Divine is my girl. She is definitely the rock of the family. With everything that's going on, I know that part 3 is going to be off the chain.
