Following a run in with his former partner Tidy, Scully O’Sullivan awaits his bounty hunter family in the town of Wellhead.
They have information that the notorious Parker Gang are plotting on robbing the local bank, using the cover of the local cattle market to blend in.
It’s common knowledge that the bank will be awash with money after the week long cattle market, but Scully plans to catch them, dead or alive.
However, when the Parkers learn that one of their number was shot by Tidy before he left town, the gang arrive in Wellhead looking for revenge.
And when gun-wielding Mary arrives on the scene, it’s certain that a showdown is looming and it’s going to be one hell of a fight.
Will Scully and his band be able to survive the Parker’s bloodlust?
And will Tidy return before it is too late?
The Rendezvous is the second book in Martyn C. Marais’ western series

I'm really enjoying this series of Westerns that are great examples of the genre. In this book, there is the classic shootout at the saloon on a hot day, presented in a fresh, well-written style. The author manages to create believable and complex characters (even those who only survive for a few pages) and there are some very well timed instances of comedy.

Another very enjoyable read by this talented Author. This story is a continuation of his last book the “Bounty Hunter” (which is definitely worth a read). This is such an engaging and entertaining story, which is so full of well thought out characters. I couldn’t help but be drawn in. It’s interesting that Scully is a bounty hunter, and he himself is a wanted man. However it doesn’t sound like he is in fact guilty of what he is being accused of. The woman is accused of murdering wasn’t by his own hand, but another man. What makes it more painful is that Scully was in love with her. Tidy’s has a brother by the name of Thomas, who has teamed up with Scully in his plan to take down the six outlaws that plan on robbing the town’s bank. The Parker brothers are part of the six outlaws, and they know the bank will be awash with money after the week long cattle market. Both Scully’s team of men, and the Parker’s men are both now uncertain whether to proceed after Tidy shot and killed the Parker brothers gang named Joe. Thomas has brought along his girlfriend Mary as part of the team, and his men aren’t quite certain why this is such a good idea. Finnian and Sullivan however are quite shocked when they see how good Mary is with a gun. You can just sense throughout the story that there is a showdown approaching, and it's going to be one hell of a gun fight. If you haven’t read one of Martin Marais’s books, then I would certainly recommend that you do. You won’t be disappointed with this wonderful Western.
