Absolutely 5 stars (can I give more?) to the non-fiction half of this collection. 3.5 or 4 for the fiction side of things.
Despite its slightly lackluster title, I absolutely fell in love with this series of essays/stories about (or at least heavily influenced by) music. Sure, it is a topic near and dear to my heart, so it has a leg up right off the bat... But the writing in this is just fabulous. Sasha Chapin, Wendy Ortiz, and James Stafford, especially, had some off-the-charts chops.
Really, if you are interested in the intersection between music and literature (or you just like music or literature...), you should absolutely pick this one up.
