Beauty Touched the Beast (Beauty, #1) Reviews

Would've loved this one about Blake (a scarred, older, former miltary-man-turned-writer) and Erin (a college student working as his housekeeper) to be a book length romance, instead of just a short story. Right now I'm imagining all the details the author could've supplied to flesh this one out... It was sweet, and it was hot, and I didn't want it to end. There's something about a hero who is feeling unsure of his worth...love that bit of vulnerability.
I'll definitely check out more from this author! 4 1/2 stars

The awkward moment when the rave review is longer than the book itself.!!! LOL
I'm in love, completely captivated and you can tell that this one of my all-time favorites ... among novellas. Yes, as the reviews say this is a very short novella but each moment of it is priceless. If there's something I hate is filler. I rather read a short novella that focus on the important than pages and pages of nonsense. Guys, this is a kindle unlimited and if you don't have KU you still should give it a chance it's only .99. and it's a book that you can read in your lunch hour and you'll have a great time. If you don't mind the lenght you'll love it. If you are still doubtful why don't you try the free amazon sample?
Notice that I love LOVE LOVE this book as to write this long review for such a short story. I don't know what is about it. The swetness, the feeling that even among two broken people love is posible, the miracle that love can do when a man feels broken and underserving until he finds HER. This book pulled ta lot of the romantic strings of my perverted heart and reminded me why, when it comes to romance, I prefer to read selfpublished authors that nobody of my group of in real life friends know.
What is it about? Well the heroine Erin is young and works for this tortured, older man (have I told you that I love when the guy is older?) .Blake lives in confinment on his masion and doesn't talk much- He's always lonely because he shuts himself, people have hurt him in the past although it's not clear why. Not only that. He's scarred and doesn't feel worthy. She feels attracted to him, but she also feels unworthy of a man as wonderful as he is. Because Erin might be young but not stupid. She has seen beyond Blake's mask and knows that under the bitter, scarred exterior there's something good.
Then one day, she thinks he's not at home and finds him, ehem, how can I say it? Taking a little relaxing time with his toy?
And the worst?
He says her name when he's done
Even worst: he sees her there.
And that's how this epic love story starts. All this happens in a couple of pages and from there you'll see two people finding each other in a world that doesn't understand them.
Is this an erotica book? I'm not sure. I associate the term erotica with pointless scenes of sex that have little or nothing to do with the plot (not complaining, it works for some books). This book is steamy, has sex scenes even if the book is so short, but I wouldn't call this book erotic, because I thought they were beautifully done and helped me to understand Erin and Blake better. Practically all my favorite books have erotic scenes that help me understand more of the characters and their internal struggles and when the couple DON'T CHEAT is a sure 5 stars from me. When a sex scene is just there because it has to fill a quota of steamy scenes or worst, when/if the hero cheats. I lose interest. That's why I didn't want to read this book at first. Erotica is a hit or miss genre for me and I found this book among a bunch of menage offers on kindle, but this book was more than an erotica. This was about love and redemption and I couldn't love it more.
Warning: This book is in 3rd person, but it works well for the story. -

BLURB:
Erin cleans Mr. Morris's house twice a week, soaking up every moment with the reclusive ex-soldier she secretly loves. Blake Morris knows he's scarred both inside and out and is no good for the beautiful young woman who cleans his house to pay for college. But when Erin walks in on Blake touching himself and moaning her name, all bets are off.
Beauty Touched the Beast is a short erotic story of lovers finding refuge with each other. The next installment, Beneath the Beauty, is available now!

The first installment of the Beauty series, an erotic and modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
Blake is convinced that because of his damaged appearance he has no chance with Erin.Lord knew he had no good looks, no charm, and as evidenced by earlier, no intelligence with which to lure her instead. It was bad enough to be scarred and ugly, broken in body and spirit, wasn’t it? Surely he didn’t need to add creepy old exhibitionist to his faults.
Erin has insecurities too, and is hesitant to approach Blake. She sees him as a magnetic, desirable man whose scars are the proof of his bravery and honor. She admires him from the first moment they meet. This man was so good and so kind and yet, was it possible that he questioned his worth because of his scars? She grew angry. Angry at him for doubting himself. He doubted her, too, thinking her that shallow. She was angry at the faceless people who had wounded him, outside and in. How dare anyone—how dare he—question his value? He was everything she could ever want in a man.
It is one of my favorite situations when the couple secretly long for each other, but for whatever reason they are too afraid to confess their feelings.
I’m glad that their story is continued because there is much potential in it.
The writing style is great, the characters are captivating, the erotica is delicious and intimate.
Loved it! -
My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...
Nooooooooo, why this isn’t a full-length novel? WHY WHY WHY???????? I seriously loved it. WOW!
Blake Morris is an ex-marine. He’s brilliant, he can debate about many things, reads a lot, writes journals and all that but sadly, he was scarred on the face in some battle while serving in the military. And that has made him a recluse, without a love life. Now this collage student, Erin comes to his house two days a week to clean it. Erin isn’t from a wealthy background, she needs this money for her education but she is a bit vulnerable about her job as a cleaner. So is Blake with his scars.
Blake desperately wants Erin but he knows (and he was so so vulnerable my god!) that she would never want a scarred, old man like him. I don’t know how old he was but at least 20yrs or so from Erin was my guess. Funnily enough, Erin respects Mr. Blake a lot and has this hero-worship thing for him. She certainly does care for him too. So when one day she comes to work and accidentally happens upon him, er... well, pleasuring himself and calling out her name when he climaxed, her 1st thought was... there was no thought actually, she just got wet. Lol I was giggling here and thinking I would’ve ran out and wouldn’t see the man for sometimes, I’d be that embarrassed. She ran out too but not out of the house thankfully. Blake is really embarrassed by this, more vulnerability crashes inside his mind. He’s scared that his precious times with Erin just came to an end. He apologizes to her and keeps avoiding her for a while. This gave Erin some incentive to think about what she wants to do about this situation. I won’t say anymore but I totally believed in the ending and their feelings for each-other. I also believed (hoped) that there is a great life ahead of them together. But sadly, it ended too short... TOO SHORT I TELL YOU!!! I definitely wanted to watch this relationship grow, for the story to continue for a while.
I love a scarred hero and Blake was perfect in every way. I even loved his vulnerabilities and wanted to hug him tight. Sex was nothing kinky but definitely hot (the man was just super crazy for Erin and she shared the passion well). His age should’ve been a problem for me because such a big age difference always spoils my enjoyment but I’m so glad it didn’t in here. The author covered it so well; I didn’t really care for their ages in the end. I just wanted them to be together, that’s all. I think I have to check out more Skye Warren books later.
4 stars.

My first 1 star rating of the year and what a tiny nugget of poo it was.

For a short read this was a hot steamy read! I really enjoyed it and the writing flowed nicely which made it and easy, enjoyable read.
Erin cleans Blake's house for him in order for her to make some money to go to college. One day she walks in on Blake in an embarassing situation and worries that he may fire her for invading his privacy. Blake on the other hand is concerned Erin will quit and he doesn't want this as they have grown close since she started working for him.
Once they realize each others attraction for one another, sparks fly. I really liked Blake, even though he was scarred up and somewhat of a recluse, he was so gentle and caring towards Erin. She was a determined woman who was kind and able to see past Blakes scars.
I loved the author's interpretation of the classic of Beauty and the Beast. There are so many different stories out there that have the similiar theme of pretty girl who falls for the scarred, mean and hard to love beast. This one will be one that I put on my keeper shelf even though it is a short story! -
2,5 Stars!
A very short story, which could have been a little lengthier for sure. It's almost too short to judge. Kidding there is no such thing.
It has a good premise i give you that and a spicy, steamy start, but the rest was a bit blurry for me. I wanted to see a decent built-up and some solid background behind the characters.
It's still though intriguing. With the whole, Beauty and the Beast contemporary fairy-tale twist that i'm a big sucker for, the damaged slightly older hero and of course the hot sex adorned with sentiments.
What's not to like? I guess i have to keep on reading!
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- Dual POV.
- Good plot.
- It has a certain quality that charms the reader. -
Too short to be considered a novella.
-
Very short but enjoyable story with some steamy scenes in it and an interesting take on the "Beauty and the Beast"-theme.
Gotta love a good Freebie... ;-) -
Love me some sexy fairy tale romance. Quick dirty and totally Nic-proof. On to the next.
-
This quickie tackles one of my favorite themes...beauty/beast.
Blake is a war veteran who is scarred both physically and emotionally. Erin is a beautiful young woman who cleans his house twice a week. When Erin stumbles upon the reclusive Blake in a private moment...and calling out her name...the growing feelings she has for her employer start to overwhelm her. But, will she be able to get through to Blake and make him see he's far from the Beast he considers himself to be?
This novella is sexy and unfortunately FAR too short. I would have devoured a full length story featuring these two characters. But, the author still manages to pack a lot of emotion into such a short story. I have a big weakness for a tortured hero, and Blake is a great one. He is unable to believe that Erin could ever want to be with someone like him. And Erin has her own baggage, afraid that Blake will never see her as more than the 'hired help'.
But in the end, these two people come together and it's pure magic.
Definitely the best short story I have read in years.

Very sweet short story with a great spin on an old classic. The beast in this story is sweet and endearing. He's a man that was wounded and scarred fighting for his country.
Beauty's a young girl with a caring soul. She's just the person to help the beast understand that his true beauty comes from within. -
3.5 Stars
An very short, erotic taste introducing the author's Beauty series. Hero is ex-military, older, scarred. Heroine young, beautiful and last semester of college.
I didn't realize this series was a continuation of installments when starting. I've read book #1 and #2 and so far...no huge cliffies!:) -
Touch her now, take her now. She’s mine now.
HAWT AND SWEET!
I must admit that Beauty and the Beast retellings/adaptations are totally my kryptonite, and anytime I come across those books, I find myself unable to resist picking them up. When I saw this book’s title, I knew instantly that I needed to read it. And I’m glad I did because it didn’t disappoint me at all! The story was exceptionally sweet I think I probably just got a toothache. It was so beautiful, heartwarming, emotional, but so hot and sexy at the same time!
I loved everything about it!
I loved both Blake and Erin. Blake was incredibly endearing. This scarred man thought he was ugly and didn’t deserve a very beautiful girl like Erin, and yet he couldn’t stop himself from fantasizing about her. Erin was lovely and had a beautiful heart. They were absolutely wonderful together!
Since this was a very short story, it's difficult to write this review without giving the story away. Guess I’d better leave it at that.
By the way, this was my first read from this author and I was totally impressed. It ticked all the right boxes for me. Oh, I couldn’t be happier! -
★★★★½ Being too short was the only problem this story had.

Well, apparently I never reviewed it. Naughty Naughty me!
This was my favorite of the series that I have read thus far.
There are 5 in all. Each ends on a bit of a cliffhanger until #5.
Though a few of them are HFN
They are all Erotica Steamy
The writing was decent but needed a lot more to make them really good & all 5 could have been One Book instead of cut up into all these shorts.
I think #5 is the longest at just over 100 pages. The rest are from about 20 pages to about 70 pages.
If you decide to try these out look for the bundles. That way you can read it as One book instead of a bunch of Short Short SHORT books.
I originally bought this one by itself then much later got the bundles.

I'm not a big fan of short stories in general. I'm a full on novel kind of girl but this was good. Of course I loved the beauty and the beast theme who doesn't? I would have probably enjoyed it more if it was a full story but still I liked it. Really sweet sexy story about two people who secretly love each other but are scared to tell each other.
The only thing that I thought was a little fuzzy and unclear was the hero's age. She describes him as old enough to be her father and that wierded me out. I'm usually not a big stickler for age difference b/w a hero and heroine but here it made me kinda wish the comparison wasn't made. lol Sorry but so NOT a visual I want in my head. She's described as a young college student and he's hinted at more than once being too old for her. If the big age difference wasn't stressed so much and brought up so much with the hero thinking of himself as a 'dirty old perv' I would have liked it more. The more he kept bringing it up the weirder it was for me.
Aside from that nice easy read. -
Unfortunately these few pages rather felt like a draft. There was barely enough story to even find the right shelves.
Reading this I got thrown right into action, without knowing anything about the characters. I got an idea that Blake was disfigured only through the title and the blurb. And later through bits and pieces.
I must say that the title is not fitting at all. Sorry. But no.
Everything is held short, even the sex scenes. Erin's orgasm happens just briefly after, which is absolutely unrealistic.
I guess the two stars come from the fact that I had no high expectations with that page count and that I got the book for free.
Not, not continuing. -
A very enjoyable story.
I'm rarely left satisfied with a short story. It's either due to a lack of depth and emotion in the short space of pages or I am unsatisfied in a more acceptable way - when I'm left craving more. The later was the case with 'Beauty Touched the Beast'.
It was well written and had a great blend of heart tingling warmth as well as panty scorching heat.
And boy did I want more.
I wanted to learn more about Blake. To gain a deeper connection to their tortured soul with an equally brutal exterior. I wanted to learn how Erin grew to love him and I definitely wanted to hear more about their happily ever after. -
It is a pity that's so short... I found it very sweet.
-
Very short read. Good if you want to up your reading challenge for the year.
-
Super short novella with a Beauty and the Beast vibe. This is the first in a set of novellas and it was pretty cute.
As I find with a lot of these shorts, I simply just don't get enough meat to the story. I liked it enough but more background for the first novella would have been nice.
But at any rate these steamy shorts serve a purpose and purpose it did serve :)
On to the next! -
Nice retelling of a classic.
Although the relationship between Erin and Blake is hot and steamy without being granted, I was expecting a little bit of action and more twists and turns. The story is quite flat and predictable, the inner turmoil and conflicts both characters go through are always the same and the story ends up being repetitive, with the same sentences repeated over and over.
I hope book two will be less flat. -
3.5 stars
It heated up fast but was over so quickly I have a hard time rating it at all. -
What a tease...this story just glances the surface.
So many questions, I guess I'll have to keep reading. -
I picked up Beauty Touched the Beast as a freebie and when I wanted to read a quick little read, I decided it was time again to pick up a Skye Warren book. I really don’t know why I don’t read this author more. Each time I do read a book from her, I love it and I think I ask that same question. WHY?!?!
BTtB is the story of Erin and Blake, the maid and the damaged man who hid away in the dark.
Blake Morris is a recluse, former soldier who suffered severe scarring to half his face during service that has led him to withdraw from society. His one link to the living world is the girl, barely a woman who comes to clean his house. One that he has begun to crave, even knowing that he can never have her.
Erin is a struggling student who is working through college by cleaning houses. While most might turn away from a man like Blake, she can’t help the growing attraction she feels for him and the once she stumbles him in an intimate moment and the whisper of her name on his lips, she can no longer deny her attraction.
This was a quick read, less than fifty pages but it was a great foundation for this series. I am a sucker for the damaged hero and really loved the dynamic of the roles of these two characters. Beyond the obvious physical differences, you have a ten year (at least) age gap and then the power situation of him being the wealthy owner and her the maid.
I had to immediately one-click the rest of this series and loved every second of it. -
Re-read. I forgot how how scorching this little ditty is. Age difference. Beautiful, scarred, wounded hero. Intelligent, caring young woman who sees what is on the inside. All wrapped up in a very erotic, very short story. For absolute, guilty pleasure, 5 stars.

After reviewing the reviews, I suspect that my opinion won't be appreciated....this story (so short that if you blink you will miss it) was utter rubbish. Where was the character development? Where was the background story? Where was the editor? The grammatical errors were dreadful. Even my 5 year old knows to start a sentence with a capital for heavens sake. And there were consistency issues as well. One minute she is beneath him then the author has her reaching down to him.
I read approximately 100 books a month & I download free books to 'test' new authors. I find it unbelievable that someone would put something this shallow & amateurish out into the public domain. If this is an advertisement of this authors style & skill then I won't be paying money for anything else she has written.
Save 10 minutes of your time & skip this story.
