  First I would like to say to the author…. Were you speaking to me?
  Christine Wells was a teen who was bullied, had low esteem, and in dangerous loveless relationships with different men in her life. In the book, we travel through her life of ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and hardships and pain.
  The story really spoke and ministered to me. I was on an emotional roller coaster with this one. I cried, laughed, got mad, and was angry at the characters in the book. The main idea of this story in my opinion was the pleasure of sin last only for a season which is so true. Self destruction and masking the pain the character had to endure and then face the consequences of her sin.
  Each chapter title had a message in it. I love how the author incorporated the title to the message in each chapter. Yes the story was fiction but had real life situations with each of the characters. The character development was on point. The characters were real and I could relate to some of them. It was like I was in the story and I live next door to the Well’s family. The setting was vivid and alive. The themes in the story were depression, rape, addiction, teen pregnancy, abuse, divorce, having faith, and shame.
  Overall the story was inspiring, encouraging, powerful, and tastefully written about sexual relationships that were endured growing up with a dysfunctional family. I recommend this book and give it 5 stars. I will be reading more by this author.

  The storyline of this book is an excellent one, especially since it touches on a lot of subjects that are going on within families. It starts off when the main character Christine is a teenager. She doesn’t have a good relationship with her parents who are always bickering and arguing with each other. Christine older brothers get to do anything they want to do and her younger sister is wild in the streets hanging with the wrong crowd.
  Since Christine doesn’t get the love and attention at home she starts being promiscuous with older men and young teenage boys. Looking for love in all the wrong places. Attending church did not help her because the church members look down on Christine’s family because they were poor and a dysfunctional family.
  There are subject matters of mental health, alcoholism, teen pregnancy, alternative lifestyle, church hurt, cheating, lying and family secrets.
  Even though this is a fictional story, the author did a excellent job of implementing the different subject matters that can happen in real life. I love how she also puts in the book scriptures and commentary that let’s us know what God considers as SIN in our lives, the consequences of committing these sins and what you can do for salvation and deliverance.
  I highly recommend this book to read and as a tool to help with children, teens and young adults. I wish there was a book like this when I was a teen and young adult, it could have prevented me from doing and making some of the choices I made with my life.

  I like where this story was going and the message, it was just that about eighty percent of this story was written in narrator mode instead of dialogue which never seems to pull me in personally.

  My Thoughts....
  
  The author did a wonderful job in her deliverance of 'Unequally Yoked' to the readers. There were
  so many times in the read that my heart went out for poor 'lost' Christine. I can't imagine growing up in a loveless home and not being able to talk with my mother, father, sister, brothers, friends[no girlfriends]...teachers...etc.as it was for Christine. It seemed like every one in Christine's family had some sort of problem. Christine seemed to attract bullies [from school]on the daily scene. Definitely Christine needed someone to talk and listen to her. Christine definitely missed her late grandmother's teachings about Lord for she had truly been their for her. With Christine seeking her all in all with boyfriends that were there for one reason only. When it seems like she finally meets someone in the church to finally showing her true love knowing all she had been through, who was a minister, but as it turns out he wasn't really listening to her at all...therefore, things went south too due to the fact they were so 'unequally yoked.' I liked how this author brings out the subject on sex and how it has been dealt with so often in the church's. This novel was definitely not only a good read but one amazing, enlightening and inspiring read offering encouragement to lead one to Christ in the end. I did also enjoy "the book providing a separate Bible study guide and the quote provided by best-selling Author Michelle Stimpson. Would I recommend "Unequally Yoked?"....YES!

  The truth is spelled out in this book.
  
  I see myself in this story and Denise spoke nothing but the true. I was like Christine to a certain point, had sex early in life. My father was pastor of a very prestigious church, I got pregnant. I went before the board to ask for forgiveness. That just started the cycle of poor choose in men. Unlike Christine I only dealt with married men. But thank you God for forgiveness and deliverance.
