The art barely saves the weak stories.

An early graphic novel by Charles Vess, whom does the writing and the artwork. This was a good find, as I purchased it new, even though it's from 1979. Charles Vess is not a master at writing (he's an illustrator), but the three tales held up well enough. And as expected, the artwork was great. These were three dark fairy tales, which were definitely adult fairy stories. It was a fun read, and I was happy to come across it.

I was able to purchase one of the limited edition hardcover books. It's a beautiful quality and feel. The hardcover format and quality paper really brings out the beauty in Mr. Vess' work.
