Sometimes the cure can kill... A young woman's dead body is found floating in a swimming pool at a party held in the home of a well-known TV celebrity. None of the guests recognise her, including the host's good friend, Professor Rhodri Morgan, an expert in criminal psychology. When DCI Bevan is called in to investigate, her first objective is to identify their 'Jane Doe'. How did the girl wind up dead at a party where nobody claimed to have set eyes on her before? Bevan's inquiries soon uncover a conspiracy of drug-taking and exploitation. But nothing prepares the DCI for the shocking manner in which the case forces its way into her personal life. Just at a time when Bevan is desperately trying to steer the relationships closest to her back on track. Dark Remedies is the 8th book in the DCI Dani Bevan detective series.

Dark Remedies (DCI Dani Bevan, #8) Reviews

    Let down by the ending.

This was a slow burner. It has been quite some time since I read the last book in this series and unfortunately, if I thought book 8 would help prompt my memory of the general story line, I was wrong. So after a slow start and trying to remember the charachters, the plot started to take on pace and became interesting.

I recommend to anyone who like myself, who left a large time gap between book 7 & 8, that it may be a good idea to read book 7 again before starting this book. There is quite a lot of detail in this story which seams to follow on directly from the pervious and therefore left me at a loss when trying to piece things together in my mind.

Its a 4 * from me and not a 5, due to the slow start but it did pick up around half way, then quite surprisingly the last chapter or so, I don't know what happened but the author seams to have slipped from believable, into some sort of strange murder by numbers routine and it becomes very cheesy. The ending is disappointing and really let's down a potentially good book x

DCI Dani Bevan returns for the 8th instalment. A young woman's body is found floating in the swimming pool at a private party. Who she is and why she is there are the first questions that Bevan and her team must find answers too. They also need to work out who killed her and why.

This is another solid book by Katherine Pathak which I really enjoyed. I think that this is a very good series with a lot of potential to keep going. I would highly recommend to all police procedural fans.

    Previous books better

Just could not get involved with this one. Did not care for any of the characters, even the regulars that I have liked before.
Her trip to USA to testify, her visit to the prison & with the son didn't seem to fit even as a side story. The ending just didn't ring true

    Fab book

Enjoying the fact that the main characters are flawed.
    Makes it seem more real.
    Glad Alice is featured more.
    Filled with strong women.

  • Mark Jones

    Lazy plot development

  • Anne Hill

    Clever

A lot of time ins to past books, so if this is the first of the series you've read, it won't really make sense. Read the previous books, they are worth it
