This is a lift the flap book about Halloween. It’s a fun way to discover facts about this holiday. It’s a nonfiction book about different cultures and how things started and why we celebrate them. I learned several new things which, either I forget a lot, or there is always something new to discover.

A bonfire comes from bonefire and the Irish used to burn animal bones to keep the spirits away.
The biggest pumpkin weighs as much as 17 people in 2014
The biggest Halloween parade is in NYC with 60,000 people
Wildest: In Manilla - the Philippines - due to a housing shortage, people live in tombs over there

Those are a few facts I learned. It’s a cute book. The nephew isn’t a facts kind of guy - he likes to be entertained and these flaps did entertain him. There were monsters and facts on where monsters came from and he was all into that. He thought this was a great book. He gave it 4 spooky stars. My niece was even lured to the book when she found out it was a facts book and she read it as well. The niece gave this 3 stars and said it was a good book.

I was taught you catalog the book in front of you. The book I read said it had a copyright date of 2016 and Goodreads says 2017. I'm going with the book in front of me.

I loved and enjoyed this book so much from learning that Halloween may have started around 1600 years ago to learning how people around the world celebrate Halloween or what they celebrate instead of Halloween. This book is amazing and full of facts that will definitely surprise children.

Very American. My nibbling loves Halloween so she won’t care about the “facts”.
