One of the best-selling cookbooks of all time, updated for a new generation of home cooks.

Few books have stood the test of time like the Betty Crocker Cookbook; none have kept up as well with the times and how people cook today. Classic meets contemporary in the 12th edition, with 1,500 recipes, all from scratch, over one-third new, and more than 1,000 photos.

This one-stop resource bursts with kitchen information and guidance as only Betty Crocker can deliver. Learn to make a lattice crust, master a braise, can pickles, and even debone a fish via hundreds of how-to photos. Discover new ingredients organized by region, such as Middle Eastern or Indian, in vibrant ID photos. New and expanded chapters on one-dish meals, beverages, DIY foods, whole grains, and vegetarian cooking reflect what today’s budding cooks want to eat, as do recipes such as Baba Ganoush, Short Rib Ragu, Pho, Korean Fried Chicken, Cold-Brew Iced Coffee, Cauliflower Steaks, Smoked Beef Brisket, Quinoa Thumbprint Cookies, and Doughnuts. And complete nutrition is included with every recipe.

Betty Crocker Cookbook: Everything You Need to Know to Cook from Scratch (Betty Crocker's Cookbook) Reviews

I was given this cookbook as a Christmas present from my Granny. I love it! I would suggest everyone have one of these on hands, even if you don't love to cook. It is great for beginners, like myself.

  • Julio Garcia

Totally cheating for my books of this year but I made my 66th recipe today.

    4.5 stars

The sheer range and comprehensiveness of the cookbook makes it a useful resource to have around.

General tips and tricks for baking and canning; everything from shellfish to pasta to desserts. Pulled Pork to Pot Pie to Sugar Cookies and everything between. As a general cookbook, hard to find a better one, especially for beginner cooks or people branching out but who don't want to be overwhelmed by twenty-five steps of prep work for a dinner or be sent out for unique ingredients every five minutes.

It certainly isn’t what I would call trendy as to special diets or nutrient dense meals but it’s reliable enough to give you a good foundation on any recipe you want to take a stab at and make substitutions as needed to suit your diet. It does offer some gluten free and vegetarian recipes though and mentions dairy substitutes as well.

This book is my childhood. Every comfort holiday recipe comes from here. It’s also the best beginner cookbook I have ever seen, full of notes and foolproof directions, from how to purchase to making intricate recipes.
