Blackheath Resurrection (The Blackheath Witches, #2) Reviews

Wow!! What an amazing sequel it was. what I was thinking about some of the characters turned out to be absolutely wrong. and I am happy that I was wrong. The author have her ways to bring the relationships so beautifully. I love the way she creates each and every relationship in her books. I love her writing style since that day when I read her book How I found you. When I read her books I just can't able to stop myself. but again this busy life doesn't allow me to do it in one go. but hey, I managed to finish it pretty fast because in the last 100 pages I couldn't resist myself. haha! I can write essays on her books but I think I should stop here. what?? Why are you now looking like this?? Go and pick up her books so that we can chat together over a cup of coffee. Your house or mine??

“Joel felt a strange sense of foreboding—a darkness that was glaring in contrast to the white world around him. He felt it move across his skin and sink into his veins. It whispered to him in words unspoken. A darkness was coming. In fact, it was already there.”
4.5 ★
wow, what an ending? but also, how is that the ending? i was under the impression this was just a duology but like....with an ending like that, it certainly could continue on. in fact, how could it not? as you can tell, i’m confused.
anyways. i loved this. i really did. the characters? man, do they have my entire heart. they all went through so much and deserve so much better. ugh, i have all the feels.
i will say though, i’m a sucker for character driven stories. i absolutely love character driven stories more than plot driven ones. so, while i try to never turn someone away from a story, (i’m a firm believer that there’s a story for everyone) i will say that the plot in this, in my opinion, is a bit slow. it doesn’t start to really pick up until about 70% into the story. though there are some interesting bits throughout the book. it’s mostly just them trying to make sense of kaden and figuring out things about their mother. but man, this was a wild ass ride and i loved it all. i guess i just wish the ending wasn’t so.....vague? i normally don’t have a problem with endings, but this one just...idk, irks me a bit. just because i don’t believe there is a third book? maybe there is, but ANYWAYS!
bottom line, i would die for these characters. i can see myself rereading these books in the future. gabriella has such a way with words. her storytelling flows effortlessly but it’s so beautiful. she creates such a rich setting and i’m forever in love with these characters. oh, and the sibling relationship in these books? honestly, it’s truly some of the best i’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. i would suggest these books not just for the romance and the witchy setting, but also for the brotherly bond they have with each other. they’re very loyal to one another, even if they don’t always see eye-to-eye all the time. they manage ways around their flaws and always find their way back to each other. ugh, i’m truly in love with everything this book has to offer.
go, please, enjoy these wonderful books. these characters will find a way into your hearts and give you such a warm and happy feeling..... most of the time. when they’re not all trying to kill each other. ;)
so, what are you doing? stop reading and go pick up these wonderful witchy books! -
Blackheath: Resurrection was nothing but amazing. There's so much that I loved about this book - from the characters and how they interact with each other, how their arcs progress from book 1 to the end of book 2. Also, I love that there was a lot more exploration in the magical elements as well as the natural environment.
As a fan, I would love nothing more than to read more about the Tomlins and Maggie. It could even be a bunch of short stories! I just need more of their lives :(
To the author, thank you for writing such a wonderful duology. It means a whole lot to me.
And to readers, I would highly recommend this series if you love stories about witches and especially against a gothic-type backdrop.
Enjoy! -
Once again, the story of Maggie and Joel sucked me in and refused to let go! The story continues, this time delving deeper into the backstory of Joel's parents and why his mom is never around. It was a nice pace with just the right amount of action, humor and budding romance. The classroom declarations were my fave!!! :)
Though the book did not end on a cliffhanger, it was left open for more story and my inner reading beast is hungry for more! I can't wait for another book and will be checking out more of Gabriella Lepore's other books! -
So many plot twists! Ohmyword!! It took me a while to get through the first half of the book, but the second half was very eventful.
Ainsley was the best, even though he's more of a minor character. I like that he had more of a role.
This isn't really a full review, but I definitely enjoyed this duology. I'm not really big into paranormal, witchy stories, but these books are a nice exception. -
This was a very good book, there were many unexpected events which kept you wanting to read more. I really enjoyed this series and wish it continued.

Lili Lost in a Book
I adored the previous book! It was a very fun book about a cursed girl who seeks the help of her witch-y classmate and then sparks fly. It was just great, so I was very excited for this one! And while I did enjoy it, I actually didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.
But one of my favorite things about this duology are all the fun characters! Take the alleged aunts, for example. They are just random “family” that shows up at their place every once in a while. “Family,” hence why they are called the alleged aunts 😂Joel sighed. “It’s nice to meet you, Alleged Third-or-Fourth Cousin Opal.”
It’s so funny! And I love the witchy brothers themselves. I love their relationship 🖤“And try to be normal,” Joel added.
Ainsley withdrew in horror. “You be normal,” he shot back.
Evan held up his palms. “Look, everyone just... be normal.”
The boys let out a collective sigh.
I love them! Ainsley is just so funny, but also very smart. He’s quite intuitive for being so young. Pippin is super cute! And I love how cool Evan, the oldest, is about everything. Actually, the relationship between him and Joel is amazing. Everyone expects so much from Evan because he’s the “chosen one.” But Joel is there for his brother, telling him it’s okay to let loose every once in a while and make mistakes. It was SO sweet. I loved this!
One thing I could’ve used more of is some more of that Joel/Maggie alone time 😉 The moments they did have were super cute (that scene in chemistry class?? Yes please! 😍), but I just wanted more! Lol. We actually did get to learn more about Maggie and Joel’s past back when they were friends and what exactly happened that made them stop being friends. The revelations in this book about that and just about Joel’s family was very intriguing!
Speaking of Joel’s family, Kaden, his half brother, is back and apparently not as horrible as he was in the last book?? Yeah, I don’t buy it. I get why the boys wanted to trust him, him being their half brother and all, but just no. You hardly know the guy AND he tried to kill you! And now you’re okay with him being here?? Whiplash much? I, for one, didn’t trust him for a second. Although we did learn something about him that made me terribly sad for the guy. His childhood was not great. Poor guy.
Another thing I loved about this series is the magic! It is just so cool! But what I wasn’t a fan of was the end when a THING happens to Maggie... I don’t know why, but I just did not like the direction the story went. I was just not vibing with it 🤷♀️
But overall, I did enjoy the book. It was a lot of fun, the interactions between the characters and the dialogue was just great, and the story itself was interesting. I obviously loved the magic as well, and the fact that we have male witches instead of your typical female witches. I am definitely looking forward to reading more books by this author—I loved the writing! -
Much better than the first
I really have to applaud this author on her twists because I really did not see this ending coming. I have read for of her books and this one is hands down my favorite. I love the two main characters- Joel and Maggie. I love their relationship. I love the relationship between the brothers. I read this in one day that's how good it was! -
The8s one was way better than the first one
Holy moly what's just happened... I am thrilled to say that the second book was way better than the first... Also the adventure and the stuff they went through didn't expect it to be so extra... Yussssss so good.. -
So... am I going to rate this book 2/3 stars solely based on Evangeline's story, completely ignoring the fact that for almost 75% of the book nothing happened at all making it tedious at best? And at some point unbelievably stupid too? You bet I am.
But for real though, I enjoyed the first one quite a lot -mind you, it's been a long time since I've read it so I don't really remember anything other than I liked it. Maybe it was the ending... which is totally not the case on this one: too much happening at once, not explaining anything through, awful Twilight vibe.
I would've loved to have more of some characters. To know more about them, I mean. -
Great continuation of the story from the first book. In this book, we get a glimpse of what had happened to their parents and why they couldn't stay with the boys to help raise them. Sad story - the aunts came through for these boys even if it seemed as if they weren't helping. Good story- if you liked Twilight- then this is the same type of story. Instead of a group of vampires- you have a coven of witches that are trying to band together for strength. Joel is sweet and he is the one that seems to be holding the brothers together.

Lepore is getting better with each book she writes. I really do like this book and world that she creates. It has a nice creepy fall theme, but still has plenty of fun lighthearted moments and great character interaction.

This was a great follow up to Blackheath -- the twists and turns genuinely shocked me and I grew even more endeared to the various characters -

This has been sitting in my tbr list on kindle for quite some time....
Was ok. Bit more fleshing out of a couple of the characters, wanted to know what happened so 3 stars -
This book was so much better than the first one, I loved it!! My only complain is that everything happened too fast at the end, though the plot twist was great!
