Murder \u0026 Menace (Cryptic Cove Mystery #2) Reviews

    Fast reads

These are cute books. Really fast reads. I don’t even mind the grammatical errors that would usually throw me into a tizzy. On to the next one.

  • Susan Apito

You don’t know what the father of your child LOOKS LIKE? He went to jail, they didn’t give him a face transplant while he was there!

  • Krystyna

    Double trouble

Not really a plot that is believable. Sorry but a single mother has more care for her child/children. If that had been left out it would have been a terrific plot but that really ruined it for me. Plus talk about the blind leading the blind hasn't she ever heard of backup or weapons even perfume in the eyes is something.
Her aunt is slowly coming to terms with life outside her imprisonment but the tongues are wagging as she seems to have found a kindred spirit in Charlie (a rather reclusive young man). Her BFF has also changed from the bubbly person everyone knows to a withdrawn haunted person with the return of Mark, her daughter's father. A murder of one of the police officers and then a brutal attack on the local janitor has the town in a spin. Can she figure who and why before any more deaths occur? What is the secret relating to Charlie? Will she and Jake every get serious?

This is part of a series that I found on Kindle Unlimited. I read Murder & Menace because I sorta liked the first Cryptic Cove Mystery-- Murder and Mayhem. Characters were developing. They were likable. It was a good opener. #2. Is a pass. Characters not any more developed. In fact...it read like they were deconstructed. The main character was just too whifty. Her developing love interest had no real spark. The friendship that was constructed in #1 was a main focus in # 2, but was underdeveloped and not authentic. The plot premise was equally inauthentic. This book in particular makes me want to discontinue my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

  • Donna

The typo errors almost through me off. But the story was interesting and the characters wacky enough to keep me focused. I want to get to know this town better. Also was not expecting that ending!

    Excellent!

Just as wonderful as the first Cryptic Cove novel! Twists and turns both expected and surprises! Great outcome to a captivating story! The same great characters you call in love with in her first book as well. Very well written, and a fairly quick read. Great choice for those warm weather vacations coming up sooner than you think!
