Battle Lines: Australian Artists at War Reviews
-
What a “cracker”. Thrilled by every word of this meticulously researched, sophisticated and sympathetic word-picture of the artist immersed in war. The colour reproductions of paintings are excellent; I would have liked to have seen more of them, but, undoubtedly, that would have made the price of the book prohibitive.

A very interesting collection of stories about artists, official and unofficial who have captured Australians at war during an after the Second World War. The personal accounts reveal the stories behind their paintings (some very well known) and their experiences. Best read in conjunction with access to the internet to review the works being discussed and explained. Recommended.
