High trees, wide trees,
reaching-to-the-sky trees.
Did you ever hide behind a wide high tree?
So begins a lilting introduction to the world of trees. Readers and listeners are invited to experience the taste of fall nut trees and the snap of winter white trees; and to hear the sticky, dripping sap trees of spring and whisper-in-the-night trees of summer.
Just right for spring. All-new, full-color paintings by the award-winning illustrators of The Seven Chinese Brothers accompany the reissue of this lively introduction to trees and the seasons by children's author and educator, Joanne Oppenheim. Includes a glossary and four pages of child-friendly tree trivia. Pen and watercolor illustrations.
Have You Seen Trees? Reviews
-
Lovely rhythm to the writing.
-
Love the poetic patter, rolls off the tongue. My 2 year old enjoys it a lot.
-
Gorgeous visuals--I wish the prose were on the same level as the visuals.

This is a beautifully illustrated book. I would use it as a read aloud. The lush language and illustrations make you feel you are there among the trees. This can be used with students when teaching ways to describe the world around them, using adjectives beyond the tired old ones students try to use. This book can help to stretch their vocabulary to paint beautiful word pictures.

This is a calm, warm rhyming book about trees that's a delight to read out loud. The illustrations fit the text perfectly. It's also a good book to accompany discussions about the seasons, as the illustrations and text start with late summer and fall and progress throughs the seasons.
