I need... affection.
Attention.
Okay, I'm lonely. Really lonely.
Strangely enough, the only person that I think understands what I'm going through is the same blue-skinned brute that stole my sister. It's wrong to hook up with him, even as a mindless fling.
Except... I'm not so good with the whole 'rules' thing.
And he's not so great with the 'fling' thing.

5 Hassen and Maddie Stars
May have mild spoilers
I really didn't think I would like this book. Hassen seemed like a dick and Maddie had her bitch moments. OMG I loved this book. I can't believe how much I loved both Maddie and Hassen. On top of loving the shit out of them as a couple the plot of this book had me on a emotional rollercoaster. So much happened in this book that changed the lives of everyone on Not-Hoth.
Hassen in previous books was a jerk face. Hot headed, impulsive, and impatient. Still he cared deeply for everyone, was completely devoted to his tribe, and was so lonely I couldn't help but melt a little. Top that off with him being protective, brave, and working so hard to help the tribe and I fell in love with him. He grew so much in this book. I loved the man he became. Maddie was up in the air for me after the last book. In this book I loved how outspoken and fierce she was. I understood how lonely and lost she felt. Maddie grew a lot in this book too. She put on her big girl pants and was there for the tribe big time when they needed help.
Hassen and Maddie had passion. OMG those two were burning up the furs every chance they got. Hassen was sexy af. I loved how much Maddie and Hassen loved each other for the real them and didn't want to change each other. What Maddie thought after her sister said Maddie could tame Hassen was spot on:
The thought of taming someone leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Taming implies that I’m going to ‘fix’ him. Break him to my will. And that’s not what I’m interested in at all. I like Hassen just like he is—
The word taming in romance always left a bad taste in my mouth too. Hassen and Maddie were a great couple and I loved them together. Some really big things happened at Not-Hoth and it broke my heart for the tribe. Especially Warrek, Stacy, and poor Pashov. This book was one of the best in the series and I can't wait to see what happens next. -
These were my feelings during the first half.
And then...
The whole first half of the book was so boring; there was nothing new here. I wanted to know Hassen more but it seemed like I didn’t get enough of his POV. I was so pissed that Maddie was even more annoying than she was in the previous book. She kept moping about how awful her life on the ice planet was. There was a series of her negative thoughts that I had to endure reading like she was fat, she was useless, no one wanted her—not even her own baby sister, she was an outsider, blah blah blah... Argh! This was horrible! I'd much rather smack my head against the wall than stay anywhere near this woman!
However, for the sake of the buddy read… so I kept on reading.
And this was me during the second half.
What happened? Did I pick up the wrong book? The second half was completely different! Maddie transformed into a strong, considerate, and reasonable person. How come she could suddenly get on with her life? Hmm… It was somewhat far-fetched, yet I much preferred her this way!
Bit by bit, I started to warm up to her as I read further into the remaining story. But what surprised me most was the big event that happened since the beginning of the last half. Gosh, it was some kind of a turning point and I loved it! Yes, I loved it! I'd like to give a round of applause to Ruby Dixon because she did a great job here. She really did!
Well, I will sum it up this way…
I hated the first half but I loved the second one. Actually, I should rate this book 3 stars, but hey, I can’t do that to Hassen, my super sweet blue alien! So, 4 stars then.
Now I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Pls note:
Rating interpretation:
5 Stars - if ALL my expectations and criteria are met.
NO Stars - Goodreads stars are not enough as the story blew me out of the water.
Do I have to write a review?
Really?
Was my rating not enough?
Hmmm.. guess not.
Though I have to admit, a review is a must on this one.
Why?
Because.
Because our bangin' Hassen needs a bangin' review from Aileene.“Fuck.
Not right now.”
I never 5 starred a Ruby Dixon book but this one.
This. One. DESERVES. It.
Non stop mention of RIDGES.
Abundance of RIDGES.
That alone warrants a 5 star read already. For me.
Ridges
RIDGES
And Aileene
Methinks Ms Dixon wrote this book for me.
Well, a girl could dream...
But, really, why 5 star?
Other than the glorious RIDGES, we also have:
Hassen. Even though he didn't have any active participation on previous installments apart from the last one before this, his character was bland.
Yes. I didn't care for him.
I even thought he was old like Vaza.
Until this book.
God. I can't believe it but he's utterly deLUSHcious.
He's a law breaker.
He's determined.
He's misunderstood.
He's pure, naive too.
He doesn't have a smile for everyone but definitely has a big heart and will do everything for his tribe and tribes people.
And most of all he cared for and loved Mah-dee.“You wish me to fuck you? I accept.”
Maddie. Our buxom blonde who has wobbly thighs and butt.
Goodness, this fierce woman, the way she reacts and acts around RIDGES, around Hassen, is totally me (of what I would do if a circumstance such as this is presented)
She knows what she wants, she gets what she wants and she has no filter.
Her character is a winner. I adore her.
The story. We did get a lot out of this book.
Many a time I checked the book cover to make sure I was reading an Ice Planet Barbarians installment.
Because this is not your usual blue ridge-y horny aliens that hump their mates non stop when they resonated.
This book has offered a lot more. We had sisters-drama, (their ice) planet destruction, death, devastation and a new discovery.
I was twirling mighty hard because this is more than a smut book.
Even Vektal arseholeness didn't tick me off.
No. Wait.
I LIED.
*comes back*
Vektal?
Just go hump your mate, mate.“You are my heart, Mah-dee. Without you, I am nothing.
You saw me as an exile and still took me to your furs.
You are kind and giving.”
~~Meantime, in Aileene's sphere ~~
Ridges RIDGES.
Closest I could get. For now.
What can I say, these f*ckers are really hard to find.

This *might* be the last book I’m going to read in this series. At this point we’ve gone through the original batch of women’s stories who crash landed on the planet, and this last book was very underwhelming. Granted, I’m not sure if it was a drop in quality or if I’m just getting bored by reading the exact same story over and over again.
I can’t say for certain if I’ll continue or not though, because these books are such good pallets cleansers if you just need a quick, silly read after you’ve finished a good book. They’ve helped keep me out of a reading slump and for that I am grateful. -
The chubby bitch and the exiled bad boy of the tribe. The two bitter persons on the ice planet will find sweet love.
“Do I need to carry you?”
“What? Why?”
“Because you are weak from mating? I have felt your legs trembling each time I pushed into you.”
“Oh my god. No dirty talk while I’m trying to be serious, please.”
Maddie and Hassen are so cute together!
After Hassen stole Maddie’s sister and then returned her, he has been exiled by the tribe. But everything will be all right for him in this book. We are talking about the total redemption for Hassen in an I-have-saved-the-tribe-I-am-a-hero-I-got-the-best-girl kind of way.
Maddie remind me a bit Liz with her bitchiness, but I think her main problem was her jealousy and bitterness for her sister’s happiness. This is something that she needs to resolve it by herself.
This is a book where the world of our lovely Sa-khui changes. The earth wakes up and there is no safe place any more. It is time for all of them to move on. -
++3.5++
Im so happy everytime another blue alien gets his own book! Gotta love them all...
This time its Hassen and Maddie. I was little wary when i started because of the previous book where Hassen stole Maddie's sister - I really wasnt fan of it, because i was afraid Maddie would be second best but its really well explained so at the end i didnt mind so much.
Another thing i had reservations about, before starting the book, were characters themselves. Maddie wasnt actually the pleasant one in previous book and i was expecting another heroine who wouldnt work for me (as its usual in this series) but another suprise! I actually enjoyed reading about her, she wasnt that bad at all. But I dont like reading about bigger heroines, because just a very few authors can make it in the way i dont mind. Dont take me wrong, i usually dont care what size are my characters but when i have to read every second page how fat heroine is, it becames annoying as hell. I dont need the reminder, its not necessary for 226 pages, i have a good memory.
And Hassen... he is sweetheart as the others <3. Those blue Barbarians are really the major reason why i love this series so much.
Have to also say that i was really satisfied with the plot. Something is finally happening to our aliens (no spoiling here) and finally we have sex scenes during the whole book and not only at the end as it was in the last one - dont judge me, girl needs to have some priorities, lmao.
Which leads me to another thing, i was thinking about the whole spur-thing, and shoudnt be that spur getting into heroine's nose when she is giving blowjob? Or are they really so big? Lol, dont mind me but i was really thinking about it.
Overally really liked this one <3. I hope Stacy and Pashov are next in line... -
Big blue alien hunks? I'm on board. If they didn't live on a godforsaken ice planet, I would be okay with some alien abduction and probing. But, alas, I hate the cold. My alien-fantasies are set on a beach planet. Not-Tahiti.
Anyway, we have two very big jerks as our main characters for this book, so it wasn't exactly on my short list for a while. I figured I'd get around to it eventually, and I'm glad I did because there is a lot going on on Not-Hoth. And, this little love story was cute and sexy.
The male character, Hassen, does a good job of redeeming his kidnapping ass in this book. By the end of it, I have total Stockholm Syndrome.
Maddie, the female, actually makes me like her a little less at first, but eventually wins me over. See, I already liked Maddie in the last book. She was a crazy, loud, bitch, and I liked it. I think if someone is going to be a complete bitch, they need to own it. I can like bitches. I've been known to fit the title myself occasionally. However, I say that if you are a bitch, let your bitch-flag fly! Don't be getting all weepy about how nobody likes you because you are fat. Seriously? Nobody gives a crap about your fatness. They don't like you because you are a pushy bitch who won't let them get away with any crap. So, either own it and deal with the unpopularity, or let it go and try to make everyone like you. That always works. Anyway, as I said, I eventually like Maddie again - when she's done with her pity-party.
The best part of this book was that there is a big change in the world coming, and it starts here. I'm pretty excited for this. -
Taming of the Shrew!
The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😒😚🥲😋😍
The heroine: Maddie - She and her deaf sister recently crash landed on the Ice Planet after being abducted by aliens. When she found that the aliens that abducted them removed the cochlear implant from her sister, she had a purpose, in that she had to take care of her weaker, hearing impaired sister and she was the only one who knew sign language was the only one who could talk with Lila.
The Hero: Hassan - he is of the Shadow Cat tribe and was so sick of all the other guys from the different tribes getting mates, and him not resonating to any, that he decided to kidnap Lila to see if time alone would get her to resonate to him. Though Lila couldn’t communicate with Hassan and he had frightened her the way he constantly stared creepily at her, so when he stole her away, she ran and ended up mated to Rokan. Hassan ended up getting exiled from the tribe for a time because of his actions. So he stays near the edges of the village, only coming in to give them his kills from the hunt.
The Story: Since Lila was kidnapped by Hassan, then later mated to Rokan in Barbarian’s Touch, she has been thriving and she taught the AI on the alien spaceship sign language so now all the people can easily get the upload and speak to Lila. Though since Lila is no longer weak and helpless, Maddie has nobody to count on her. She is at a loose ends and nobody likes her since she was acting like a shrew when Lila was missing.
Feeling like she is on the edge of society after Lila grew from a fragile little flower to a brave and competent woman, Maddie was at a loose ends and I really thought I might dislike this one because she was such a harpy in Lila’s book, but I actually really liked her from the beginning on this one. She was quite funny.
Hassan was the only one who really understood Maddy, so she started thinking about him and wanted to scratch the itch with him. The only problem was that afterwards, he wants a commitment and she just wanted some fun. I really enjoyed this book and all the characters, some big things happened to the tribe and this couple was very likable. There was plenty of romance and steam as well.
Like all the rest, this book was told in dual points of view via dual narration by Mason Lloyd and Hollie Jackson who have done the narration on many of these books. I have enjoyed their narration on all the books I have listened to and will continue to enjoy more of this series.

Excuse my Supernatural reference but damn, I still love this book.
"You made a mistake, but that doesn’t mean you should be punished forever. And maybe I’m looking at it with rose-colored glasses or something, but I know what it’s like to lose your shit during a bad moment and then have people keep throwing it in your face over and over again."

ohmychuck! This is just soooooo good. I am so glad the Author gave us that shift. Ms Dixon, you just made it into my favourite authors list. -
Ruby Dixon has obviously made deals with the devil that she was able to write a story with characters I loathed in the previous book and now I'm in like with them. Deals with the devil, I tell you, there's no other explanation.
Maddie, who was a pain in the ass bitch in the previous book, is normal in this one. She's Lilah's older sister and out of sorts being the only single, of age, female around. She doesn't even have her sister as a friend really because Lilah is only interested in her mate and her new blue friends. She's an ungrateful sister. Why couldn't she have died from a metlak in her book? Sigh. Wishes.
Anyway. Maddie is friendless and bored, because no books and she doesn't have the Survivor skills the other Earthling ladies have acquired, nor is she mated and preggo. In her boredom, she decides to hangout with Hassen. He's the guy who kidnapped her sister and is now exiled.
Hassen is all the sads about being exiled and now realizes he doesn't even like Lilah, because she's weepy and whiny. He's much more into her strong personality older sister, Maddie. Lucky for him, Maddie likes his big blue body and wants on his ride.
Their relationship starts off as friends with benefits. The benefits being sex, companionship, and teaching Maddie to hunt. It's a secret because Hassen is in exile and Maddie is worried about what her bratty sister will think about her doing her kidnapper. But hey, there aren't a lot of choices on Not-Hoth. If you can get used to being married to a blue alien with a tail and horns, you can get used to being related to your former kidnapper.
Somehow this all makes complete sense and is a good book. Again, the magic of RD. I liked both Maddie and Hassen. Their encounters were steamy smutty. I loved that she was the aggressor and all about the smut. That was definitely amusing. Both characters were completely redeemed in this book. Hats off to RD. I really liked the surprise that Maddie and Hassen discovered. I hope she continues to bring surprises into this series.

4.5 Stars!!
Best one yet!!
Hassen has been exiled after he stole Maddie's sister in the last book. Maddie hates what Hassen did but can't help the attraction she feels toward him.
This one had more of an intense storyline, with earthquakes that destroy the tribes main caves. Hassen volunteers to go out and search for a new safe place for everyone to live and Maggie begs to go with him needing to prove her worth.
Man these two go at it like animals any chance they get!
Maddie is the last umated earth woman, which doesn't help her self esteem issues. It doesn't stop her being brave enough to go after what she wants though and I've gotta give that props, what she wanted was.........
I couldn't help but love Maddie and Hassen and I liked that this one had more of a plot to it, with the worry of what the 'clan' was going to do now their home had been destroyed. I was a little bummed with the sudden ending, it felt a little unfinished to me. -
HASSEN. YAS. BAE. GET IN THE DUNGEON.

**re-read**
Who do I have to kidnapp to get the next book, really I don't know how I'm going to wait. I love this series and this book was going along great. I was loving it, loving Hassen and Maddie and then stuff starts hitting the fan and I was so hooked I couldn't look away. Oh man Ruby Dixon really knows how to shake some things up and when you think she is already bringing her A game she shows you you haven't scene anything yet.
Hassan took Maddie's sister Lila thinking he would get them to resinate but it never worked and while they were away Hassen found himself just wanting her to be gone and regretting taking her more than anything. Now exiled Hassen's only job is to provide game for his tribe. Maddie woke up in a crazy cold world with aliens and found that her sister was deaf again and then that her sister was taken, now her sister is back with a different alien happier and stronger than ever, while Maddie finds herself more lonely and unsure.
With her sister gone Maddie feels even more alone and as strange and crazy as it seems she feels a connection to Hassen the alien who took Lila. Hassan and Maddie are all alone, and if she is honest he is the first alien to spark her interests. Needing something to do Maddie asks Hassen for help. What starts out as being helpful soon turns into something very different but Maddie isn't sure she wants forever, while that's all that Hassen has ever wanted. Then the unthinkable happens and everything is up in the air, and Maddie and Hassen will find comfort, peace, and love in each other that no one else can give.
Ok lets be real here was Maddie not the nicest, yes but lets see how we all do waking up on another planet with aliens and your sister gets kidnapped. I could only wish if I ever had a sister that she was a fierce and loving as Maddie is towards her sister. And yes she was mean but what do you expect I kind of was irritated that many didn't give her a chance. Maddie was branded difficult and mean but she was mad and scared her sister had been taken and her sister was deaf again, again I would love a sister like her.
I felt bad for Maddie and I just wanted people to give her another chance and be more understanding. And Hassen gave her that and more. I completely 110% believe that Hassan didn't want Lila and only ever loved Maddie, and also that he knew he was wrong. Not only is Maddie fierce and protective of her sister but of Hassen too, and I can't help but love a girl who will go to battle for the man/alien she loves. Hassen's world revolved around Maddie and he would gladly die for her, she is his everything and yeah he did something stupid but you kind of understand when you see how lonely his is, and that he lost everyone in his family, and more importantly like I said he never did love Lila and says many times he was a fool and Maddie was always it of him.
I love the idea for these stories and I was so happy when Lila and Maddie got introduced, I thought it was smart and seemed organic, and not forced and more importantly I was happy the series would continue. After getting their stories I am no where near satisfied and I want more, like right now would be good. I can't wait to see what happens next. I think I know who will get the next book and I hope I'm right. I love that we get nice snippets of how everyone is doing in this book, like the others before. All I could think about while reading this book was man I need a re-read of them all, so that's in on the agenda before the next book!!
Another thing I was pleasantly surprised with was Maddie's humor, she had me cracking up many, many times in this book one of the best was " Either I get to sit out in the open and have people 'nice' me to death, or I can come sit in the dark with Wednesday Addams here". And if you are wondering she was taking about Asha, which I am more interested in than ever for her story. I did read the author notes at the end of this book, and she says that she has been writing too safe and that this next book will be a change, but she promises no downer ending, hea's and no cheating. I am so excited I would rate this one more than 5 if I could and even with that I am even more excited with the next book than I have been before. This author has not only managed to write an amazing different series but make each book new and better, which is something you don't find too ofter. -
Better 2nd time around...or maybe 3rd, but who's counting?
It was really awesome!
Currently, I am on vacation so it's not possible to write a coherent review but I'd like to quote Ruby's author's note as it also provides a bit of summary, so enjoy guys!
AUTHOR’S NOTE
This book was an emotional wringer to write. Our poor tribe is going through a lot right now, and as the creator, it was tough to build a world and then destroy it all over again. But as we get more and more books into the series, I realized that I was playing it too safe. It’s a dangerous world, full of volcanic activity and blizzards and all kinds of stuff we’ve barely scratched the surface on. I wanted to take away some of the safety-net of the tribe. I’m sure there’s a few people out there screaming at me right now. < 3 -
This series is seriously fun!!!! :)
I love the blue barbarians! They're so cute with their problems with human slang and figures of speach! LMAOOO
Here I loved the couple! I loved how the author managed to transform Maddie from a odious shrew to likeable and strong woman!
Also the hero, Hassan is transformed from callous kidnapper to lonley and passionate man (ops... blue horned alien!)!
I loved, loved them! They were cute, they were passionate and they were just perfect for each other!
I'm looking forward to the next story! The author says that it will be different from the other and I'm looking forward to discover what she will do! -
This was my absolute favorite so far!!! Oh my god!!!
First, Maddie was so fierce and funny. The fact that the other human women avoided her only made me like her more. I feel like her reaction to the whole cootie and mates and babies was the most reasonable so far. And the fact that no one else saw it her way only made me go feral for her. She was such an interesting and unique female main character compared to the others. And the way she experienced sex so openly and intense was perfect.
And Hassen went from one of my least favorite males to my favorite. What kind of sorcery is that? Well, my friends. He was excellent at dirty talk, a first in this long series. He didn’t take ages to get down to business and fuck his wife (some scenes in previous books were just ridiculous) and he was kinda intense and rough in the best possible way.
These two together were so nasty and crazy in lust, they became my favorite couple.
And then, all the plot line about the earthquake and losing their cave was so good! I can’t wait to see what happens next and for all the little mysteries to get solved. Like, what’s up with the Elders’ Cave computer?? Who lived in that old city? What about the cave with all the greenery and fruits??
Jesus, I’m actually invested and not just reading for the alien smut. Wtf? Lol -
Die erste Hälfte fand ich FURCHTBAR. Besonders Maddie. Aber auch Hassen. Beide fand ich so grässlich. Aber dann?! Ab etwa 50%?
Ich hab’s geliebt. Der Plot Twist? Mega und super spannend. Maddie und Hassen? Morally Grey-ihse Liebe!!🫶🏽 -
OMG I was waiting for Maddie and Hassen' book .
Loved everything about this book. I have been hooked on this series since the first book and I haven't been disappointed in anyway. -
Can't really explain why but this was my favorite coupling so far. Their characters arc and love story was the most intriguing so far.
-
3,5 ✨✨✨
-
I loved this book.
Surprisingly the heroine did not annoy me at all.
Hassen is the alien who stole Lila in the previous book it didn't bother me because he never liked Lila he just wanted a mate and in the end he was glad that she mated Rokan.
I felt that maddie was everything to him.
"Your sister is my greatest mistake. I do not think I have ever even liked her"
This book was awesome.
There was a part where I got scared and almost cried but don't worry it's all good..
I wonder if Ruby is going to write about Pashov and Stacie? -
Maddie + Hassen
My two least favorite characters of the series shacking up as pleasure-mates before triggering resonance? YES PLEASE!
Both Maddie and Hassen have done/said controversial things in the last few books. I think that it was pretty brilliant on Ruby's part to have them fall for one another. The curvy loud-mouth heroine falling for the stoic but fierce hero... it is a match made on cloud nine. They were so entertaining and just darn cute.
5 stars! -
Omgoodness the earthquake demolishing the tribe's whole cave. And all of them being homeless and then Maddie and Hasson finding that lost city that had toilets and plumbing but it was evidently there 1000s of years before the barbarians crash-landed. I'm curious because of all the weird-ass animals that live on the ice planet.
Everyone in the tribe adores her and they can barely tolerate me. I’m like a stinky fart that’s lingering in the cave and everyone tries to ignore.
Not that I can blame them for treating me like a turd—I haven’t exactly been Miss Pleasant to live around while my sister was gone. I was frantic with worry about her after she was stolen, and when they wouldn’t let me go after her? I was kind of not nice about it.
As I watch it retreat, a long, straight bone wobbles through the air and drops to the ground a short distance away.
I narrow my eyes, squinting at it. Am I seeing things? Is Leezh or Raahosh nearby? Was that one of their arrows? I have seen them hunt with the weapon, though, and trained with it myself. I know how to aim and hit my prey with one of the slim arrows, but that shot…it was not good. It would not kill the snow-cat even if the creature remained entirely still.
“Fuck you.”
I go very still. I have heard that human word before. They spout it from time to time, but I have dismissed it as babble. It was not one I learned when the Elders’ Cave taught me their words, but one I overheard Jo-see say to Haeden recently, in between kissingI am surprised…and honored that she has chosen me as a pleasure-mate. “You wish me to fuck you? I accept.”
“I am supposed to be exiled,” he finally says, looking up at my eyes once more.
“That’s cool,” I say brightly. “I’ll just teach myself. No biggie.” I turn away.
He grabs my arm, and to my surprise, he growls—just like a bear. It’s weird…and it makes my body thrill just a bit more than it should. “You did not let me finish, female.”
“Pfft. Then go ahead and finish, male.” I turn back to him and gesture grandly. “Continue.”
Then her tongue flicks against the seam of my mouth. “Open for me. Just watch the fangs.”
I do, and then her smooth little tongue slicks against mine. I groan even as she gasps and pulls back, her fingers flying to her mouth. “What is it?” I ask, worried. “Did I do it wrong?”
“Your tongue. It’s ridged!”
“Yes?” I think again about the feel of hers slicking into my mouth, and then cup her face in my hands. “Yours is not? Show me.”
“I wish you to stick your tongue into my mouth again.”
Mah-dee chuckles. “Since you asked so nicely…let me know if you have any other surprises, yes?”
I think for a moment and then lean in to put my mouth on hers. Before I do, I tell her, “My cock has ridges as well.” Just in case she does not know.
Mah-dee gives a little moan, pulling back before our lips meet. “Really?” Her breathing has sped up.
I nod. “It is good?”
“Oh, I think it is,” she breathes, and then presses her mouth to mine again.
I push her fingers aside so I can show her how to undo the laces, because I want to see her reaction to my body. So far she has been eager to touch me. Will she be as eager once she sees my cock and its pronounced ridges?
My leathers fall to the floor, and I stand before her in nothing but my boots.
Mah-dee sucks in a breath, gazing down at my erect, straining cock. She drops to her knees in front of me. “Wow. Yes, please, this is definitely going on my wish list.”
“You are slow today,” I mock my mate as I crest over a large hill. “Pick up your feet. We have far to go.”
Behind me, Mah-dee grumbles something under her breath about ahs-wholes and makes a hand gesture that tells me she is not pleased with me. She does move faster, though not fast enough to keep up with me.
It reminds me of the Grand Canyon back at home, except like, it’s purple and blue instead of orange and red. Was this carved by a river?”
“Eh, I do not know.” I study our surroundings. I have never considered that. All I know is that here the cliffs almost close overhead like teeth. In some areas, the walls of the valley close in tight and it almost feels as if you are walking in a cave tunnel. “Stay close.”
“I’m close. Any closer and I’d be grabbing on to your tail and rubbing against your ass,”
“Even your cunt tastes sweeter,” I rasp between hard, insistent laps of my tongue. “How is this possible?”
“Don’t know,” she chokes out. Her hands wrap around one of my horns, and she pushes my face further into her cunt. “Don’t care. Just…keep…going.”
“And you’ll stay safe?” I lean back and look up at him. He’s so handsome in the early morning sunlight, with his dark hair whipping around his face. I love his big craggy horns and his stern cheekbones and the way his fangs peek out, just a little, when he smiles down at me, like right now. “Keep an eye out for metlaks and all that?”
“I shall be the safest of hunters,” he tells me. “Because I have the fiercest of mates to return to.”
That’s so cute. He thinks I’m fierce. More like pushy, but I’ll take it. I curl my hands in his vest and decide to give him a little something to incentivize him. “And when you come home, I’ll suck your dick so hard you won’t be able to walk straight for weeks.” -
Yeah, I didn't really like this one-
And when I say that I didn't like it, it's basically because of the heroine.
You know, I was never a fan of Maddie ever since she was introduced within the previous book, due to her rude actions towards her sister, and her constant whining. And because Lilah (her sister) was one of my favorite characters, Maddie didn't really sit right with me. I just found Maddie's POV to be so annoyingly repetitive with the whole self-deprecating thing she had going on- it just got really old. And don't get me started on how hypocritical and jealous she acted towards her sister again.
Yes, I'm overanalyzing a book about alien smut 😐.
And unfortunately, I also wasn't a fan of Hassen, I didn't like him much either within the last book- so we were already not off to a great start- I mean, I did feel kind of bad for him, and he did kind of grow on me towards the end.
But, I mean at least my least favorite characters in the series got paired together??
I love how seriously I'm taking the series at this point, it's not okay 😶. But yeah, this book was alright I guess- I did end up skimming a load of Maddie's POV- I just couldn't help myself.
I do want to mention that Maddie did sort of have a whole personality change towards the end. And although it was kind of weird, it was appreciated?
I also want to say though, that in terms of the overall storyline- I actually really liked what happened, especially towards the end. The story did come together nicely (I'm loving all the babies), and was entertaining as usual. -
It's good that there's a departure from the usual same story here at least. And all the tribal problems are pushing for more change. It'll keep it from stagnation.
Over and out -
I couldn't love this couple any more than I already do.
They totally serve as the outcasts of the tribe.
Did they make choices that placed them in this position? Sure. Does this make them even more fun and entertaining? IT SURE DOES!! -

Maddie (the heroine/FMC) was kind of a annoying character to read.
She has issues with internalized fat-phobia and internalized fat-shaming/body-shaming.
She is very self-deprecating about her body.
No other character comments negatively about the heroines body/size or looks/appearance.
The other characters do not even insinuate anything negative about the heroines body/size or looks/appearance.
It is all in her her head …. and the real reason they do not want her around is her cantankerous attitude/personality.
Some of it is to be expected and understandable because of stress and the new situation she is in.
And that she feels like her sister has abandoned her and she feels lonely.
But some of it is unnecessary and over the top and just her being negative.
Maddie did mature and grow some in the book …but not enough and combine that with all the internalized fat-phobia and internalized fat-shaming/body-shaming and also stereotyping of fat people this was Not a enjoyable read.
Hassen (the hero/MMC)
Is kind of pushy and possessive and somewhat impulsive and impatient/desperate.
But he is also dedicated and wants to be helpful to his tribe.
And he is kind of misunderstood.
Hassen does grow and mature rather much in this book.
*This is a story/book I will Not reread in the future* -
Maddie is pretty bitchy and at times, funny and Hassen was overbearing, but they worked together. I thought their romance was a surprise after the events in the last book with Lilah and Rokan, yet it still worked. My main complaint was their inner monologues got a bit repetitive after awhile, and I was way more interested in the changes to the world, rather than the main romance.
Basically, the formula is still plugging along, with modifications to their location. With some intriguing questions that are setting up an exploration of the planet and its history, I'm still enjoying my trips to Planet Blue Balls. -
I really love most things in this series. Big blue aliens apparently are my jam and I can't seem to get enough of them.
This couple shouldn't work. He kidnapped her sister once, she has hated him and his domineering attitude since waking up and finding out she was on a different planet but as two outcasts they really work. I wasn't a big fan of Maddie in the last book, especially when she essentially cock blocked her sister. Okay it was on accident and she was just worried for her sister but still she came off as extremely pushy and overbearing.
When you see this world and situation from her PoV you see that ultimately she is scared and lonely. The person she has had in her life forever just mated up to some blue dude and doesn't really need her anymore. She is so bored and hasn't figured out how to be a member of this tribe yet. Granted she didn't really try since her sister was kidnapped and that was all she worried about in the beginning but now what is she supposed to do.
Hassen is exiled after his actions of the last book. The only thing he has ever wanted was a family of his own and he paid the price after trying to make that happen. He and Maddie are both so lonely that you can see why they are drawn to one another. I did like how they became more to each other over time and found a way to connect.
The cave in was unexpected but I loved the opportunity it gave to Maddie to really step up and become a part of the tribe. She has been able to find her niche in this world and finally is starting to see her potential.
I liked this so much more than I thought I would have. I'm really excited to see what will happen with the tribe after the events at the end of this and if being in a new location will open up the world even more. -
I really like this series. It’s fun! The double POV’s give it a certain flair adding to my enjoyment. It’s a pattern I have come to adore. The books carrie with them sexy hero’s, likable heroine’s, sweet, funny and sexy moments. I also adore the world Dixon has created and the strong cast of characters.
Things are changing on the Ice Plant. The earth wakes up and there is no safe place anymore. I liked the challenges Hassen and Maddie faced as well as the tribe. It was nice to see things shaken up. New struggles and challenges for all.
Hassen disobeyed a tribe rule and is being punished. Here he gets redemption and also finds his mate. Maddie I wasn’t to keen on her, but as the book moves on we see a different side of her and why she is so vocal at the first meet. I liked her change in attitude. I loved these two together. They fit. Got each other.
