Hit and Run Reviews
-
As Raina Wilkins drove home from a night at the movies, her thoughts were dark. Her life had spiralled out of control since the accident ten years prior, and try as she might, she couldn’t seem to gain a measure of happiness or peace. But when Raina felt the thud after seeing a man running from the woods in front of her, she had no idea how much her life was about to change.
Terrified at the gun in her face, Raina did what the stranger ordered. But when he suddenly disappeared, Raina headed for home, hoping she would never see him again. But that wasn’t meant to be and to her horror, Raina was soon drawn into an evil conspiracy where her life was in constant danger. Her only option was to flee – wasn’t it? She didn’t know who could she trust – even the police had her suspicions aroused…
Hit and Run by Aussie author Diane Hester is absolutely brilliant! Gripping and intense, the fast-paced plot rocketed along keeping me on the edge of my seat. Raina is an excellent character – strong and full of courage; determined to help the underdog – she won my heart! I certainly hope the author writes more of Raina and her life. Highly recommended. -

I received a copy of Hit and Run by Diane Hester through Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to the author, Diane Hester for the opportunity to read this book. I literally couldn’t put the book down, I was captivated to read it!! This book is a page-turner!!
Hit and Run follows the story of 28-year-old Raina Wilkins, our main protagonist, who really has little to live for. She is haunted by her sad past but tries to make thing better in the present. Until one night, out of the blue, she hits something from the Maine Woods in front of her. It’s a man and he is injured and he has a gun. Someone is chasing him and he points the gun to her so she can drive quickly. Then the stranger falls unconscious and Raina decides to stop her car and walks away and to hope she never meets this stranger ever again. The next day, she hears that the man from the woods is dead and she feels guilty and confess that she killed him. Except it wasn’t the stranger she saw that night. The man she saw is, Alec DeMarco, who is apparently a wanted killer for a crime he never committed, comes back to find her because he left something in her car, something people will kill for to have it. Raina and Alec meets a homeless teen, Erin Rose who tells them that someone took her baby after she gave birth and selling the baby which is connected from the people that Alec, and now Raina and Erin are running from. Raina’s life gets to be more upside down since she is dragged into a world of murder, abduction and conspiracy. Even the police wants her dead!
This book is very well written, how I enjoyed reading every word from this book. It has a fast-moving and intriguing plot with lots of sudden unexpected twists and turns. The pace was perfect too, even though it kept me on edge the whole time! I thought I had things figured out but some things turned out to be wrong! The conclusion was great too! Also, I loved each and every character from this book. I felt that the characters were realistic and I liked how they evolve through the story. I also liked how there was two strong female protagonists. It would make such a great movie too! I highly recommend if you like or want to read something that has plenty of suspense, action-packed and twists and turns!!
I really enjoyed reading this book and I would definitely read it again and I will read more books from this author!! Thank you again Diane Hester!! -
I absolutely loved this thriller from Diane Hester, HIT AND RUN! This novel literally has something in it for everyone but really is a must read for the thriller lover! I know of and have read previous works from Hester but this one has to be a fast favorite that I will for sure be doing a reread of eventually. I loved how this book read and flowed like a thriller movie. I was always at the edge of my seat awaiting that next twist or turn in the road that would come and rarely was it what I had expected to see come of things. I thoroughly enjoyed the push and pull between the characters and the banter was a comfortable and stressful song that kept you enthralled and guessing what would come.
The teasers drew me into this read and they did not disappoint. I really loved the way the story was just as exciting as the teasers. Raina Wilkins is on a drive home from the movies. It is dark and a wooded and creepy place she is traversing and her thoughts match the situation. She didn’t know just how much her life was going to be completely changed when the stranger that hopped from the woods literally hopped right in front of her moving vehicle. The suspense gets even crazier when the man is next holding a gun to her head and making demands. Will the course of the book reveal the secrets and troubles of everyones pasts? Will somehow this crazy night be the change she didn’t know she needed in her life? You will think this book is one thing and it will be the complete opposite. I won’t divulge any more details but I can assure you this is one that you do not want to miss! I can’t wait to see what we will get next from the ever talented Diane Hester! -
I was hooked from page one reading this suspenseful thriller by Diane Hester, having read and enjoyed a previous novel by her I was looking forward to reading this latest offering and was definitely not disappointed. Raina Wilkins hits a man whilst driving her car, a man that literally comes out of the woods in front of her and if that wasn’t shocking enough he then orders Raina at gunpoint to drive him further into the forest where he abruptly gets out and disappears back into the forest. Raina thinks that is the end of her nightmare but then she discovers that her injured passenger, Alec DeMarco left something behind in her car and wants it back, and he’s not the only one. Raina is then forced on the run with a wanted killer and a homeless teen with a deadly secret and enters a world of abduction, conspiracy, police that want her dead and murder.
I was literally on the edge of my seat reading this gripping novel. It has a fast paced and action packed storyline and great intriguing characters that you get to know. I felt fully immersed in the story thanks to the authors detailed narrative and I would definitely recommend this five star read. -

This is a suspense-thriller that I enjoyed from beginning to end. I was pulled in right from the beginning and kept engaged to the end. This is a well developed story that has twists and turns that kept me turning pages just waiting to see what would happen next. The characters made the story feel real to me. I had no problem connecting to them. Raina was driving alone on a dark wooded road when a man came out of the woods and she hit him. He forces her to drive at gunpoint but gets out and goes back to the woods. The problem is that he left something behind in her backseat. How far will someone go to get this thing? Her world is turned upside down from here and I had a hard time putting the book down. This is a really good book that I highly recommend.

Hit and Run by Diane Hester is a great and gripping mystery thriller and has to be my favourite by her. I was captivated and the pages kept on turning and I found myself finishing it in one sitting. Diane has woven the threads to give us something that keeps you guessing with the twists and action and thinking you are on the right track, only to be turned right around. Our heroine is troubled by her past and it almost seems like history is repeating but is she strong enough to overcome her fears? There is action and danger, and most of all the story is so believable that it is scary.

4 Stars
Hit and Run by Diane Hester is definitely my favourite story of hers, so far. It is another complex and well-woven thrilling suspense. This gripping story twists and turns so much- it really kept me guessing, running various scenarios through my mind, and wondering how it would all play out in the end. Every time I thought I had it nailed down, Ms. Hester threw in a twist or two and sent me off kilter again.
Raina Wilkins life has never been the same since tragedy struck ten years earlier. But, now her life is about to take a deadly turn. While driving home one night, Raina hits a man who ran out of the woods directly in front of her car. And if that’s not bad enough- she is then held at gun point and told to drive. What happens from this point on makes for a thrilling tale of abduction, conspiracy, murder, and mystery.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Hester…
Thank you, Diane Hester! -
I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway. I found this to be pretty predictable. It had an interesting storyline and a few twists, but I wasn’t super shocked by any of them. It definitely was a page turner and I got through it quickly. I felt like the ending was just too neatly put together and unrealistic. Overall, it’s not a bad read, but could have been better with the way the story played out.

Hit and Run by Diane Hester was a great 5 star read.
Once I started I was pulled right in.
Raina had a creepy experience while driving home from the movies, she had been thinking about how her life has been the past 10 years when she accidentally hit a man with her car.
The man pulled a gun on her and had her drive him away from the scene. When the man passes out she ends up abandoning her car with him in it. When she finds out the next day the man is dead her life starts to spiral out of control.
We meet a couple of other characters Alec and Erin who added so much more to this story. These three find out they are intertwined in the same scary situation. There is so much more to this read but I don’t want to give anything away. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. We get murder, abduction, twits and turns and so much more. All of the characters were great. This is my first read from this Author and I loved it.
