Peyton Price
Given an assignment to write an article on an outlaw motorcycle club, what award-winning journalist would say no? Not me. I had a weakness for bad-boys, tattoos, and men on motorcycles.

But Nick Navarro wasn't a typical biker. He wasn't even a typical outlaw.

Nick Navarro
As president of the Filthy F*ckers MC, when I was offered an opportunity to be interviewed by a local journalist, I didn't accept for the notoriety or the publicity. I agreed to get a shot at the 27 year-old p*ssy between the journalist's legs.

She had plans to get in and get out, and do so quick.

But once I lay claim to something, it's mine.

Until I decide otherwise.

    "Justice will prevail.”
    description

    Hard is a thrilling, unforgettable ride! It is an unapologetic cry for the injustice that exists in this world. A unique and entertaining piece of art that imitates life in which the ending is so much sweeter! As the first book in the Filthy F*ckers MC, it captivated me from the first page, and I didn't want it to end!

    description

    "People often asked if I had a death wish, or if I placed no value whatsoever on life. I always responded no, but never took time to explain."
    Peyton is a successful, young reporter who has been assigned to pen the story of a lifetime. An avid surfer, snowboarder, skateboarding queen, there is nothing that she isn't afraid to take on. Her job? To find out the dirt on a local MC! As a reporter at the Union-Tribune, "San Diego's largest newspaper", she is the perfect woman for this story. Outgoing, pretty, adventurous, and full of sass she has no fear when it comes to approaching the men of the Filthy F*ckers MC.
    "My opinion was all that mattered. If someone didn’t share my views, they were wrong, because I was always right. Being exposed to life-changing events seemed to be the only thing to ever get me to look at life –or myself –with honest eyes."
    Nick Navarro is the President of the Filthy F*ckers. A Navy Seal, he is honest and lethal! After serving his country, he has found his place with his brothers. A straight shooter, he is loyal to his club and likes to have a good time!
    "You lost, little girl?"
    When Peyton and Nick meet, this simple assignment turns into so much more! There is an instant spark between the two. And yet, the push and pull is evident as they both struggle to keep their bearings. Nick's focus is the club. Peyton is there for a story. Together their easy banter is like a tidal wave of sexual foreplay. Peyton isn't afraid to stand up to Nick, and yet, the things he does her body brings her straight to her knees. Let's just say they don't waste any time getting to know each other! (Yum!)
    "In his absence, I yearned for his forceful touch. In his presence, I anxiously waited for an opportunity to provoke him to exercise his lack of sexual control. I recalled the exact moment his hand pressed my head into the surface of the workbench. I suspected most women would find such an act forceful and far from sensual. I, on the other hand, found it almost necessary."
    description
    "It was painfully obvious she meant more to me than some girl who was simply interviewing me. I liked the thought of it. But I wasn’t sure if I could allow it."
    With an emotional and physical connection firmly in place, the two continue to meet for interviews. As Peyton grows closer to the club, she is inadvertently drawn into the club life and therefore put in danger. Through her connection to Nick, Peyton becomes a target to the unthinkable. The Savages, an enemy MC, target Peyton in order to take down Nick. In the midst of chaos and terror, Peyton shows the strength of a warrior without even shedding a tear. The Filthy F*ckers band together and it the only thing that will ease the pain of this injustice is blood!
    "This won’t come to an end without spillin’ some blood. Not now. The Savages have gone too far this time..."
    description
    "With my body, spirit, and soul released from my mind’s grip, I cautiously worked to satisfy her, hoping to bring her to climax without causing her any mental or physical pain.”
    Told in mostly dual POV, Hard is full of raw and "un-edited" action that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire read. This is not your typical MC ROMANCE as the Filthy F*ckers are a true, gritty, and real MC! Peyton and Nick are perfectly matched with their complex life experiences and their fearless views on life. The story ARC is expertly developed as each moment unfolds. I was quite shaken by the events that took place and yet, overjoyed by the way each piece of the puzzle fell together. It is always terrifying when an author tackles sensitive subject matter that is certain to "trigger readers" and yet, I found only peace and contentment with every turn of the page. The supporting characters are both endearing and hilarious. Nick's mom Elizabeth had an integral role in the plot and as eager as I would be to join the F*ckers for a BBQ at the clubhouse, I would be just as happy to join Peyton, Nick, and his parents for a dinner of chicken marsala and conversation. Each tender, raw, and sexy moment is captured with a natural expertise that should not be missed!

    description
    "If we don’t stand up now, ain’t one of us worth the patches we’re wearin’.”
    In short, if there is ever a question in your mind about which Scott Hildreth book you should read, you have your answer here in Hard. I feel inspired by the heart and soul of these characters and moved by the healing in this unforgettable tender AND sexy love story! I expect more greatness from the Filthy F*ckers Series! When Mr. Hildreth is writing, my Kindle is always ready and waiting!

    Insecure old men who think they’re Alpha.

    This was unappealing and I have no idea why no one calls this author out on his misogynistic and crude stories. I feel like this book isn’t romance, more like what men imagine other men want to read, bc in no way would a female author write that bar scene during which Peyton had to get naked before whatshisname would talk to her.
    You know what? I won’t be reading any more books by this “author” and tbh, I wonder how he gets all these high ratings.

  • Zasha

    I finished this book but I just want to say how disappointed I was , there wasn't much clarity for me , if it weren't for my common knowledge on things I wouldn't have known what they were talking about . It could have been a really good story but when it got to the sensitive topic of sexual abuse it felt really weird and threw me off complete .

  • Scott Hildreth

    So begins a NEW MC Series from Scott Hildreth that makes the Selected Sinners look like the Selected Saints.

    Where to start. This book. Jesus. Okay, first and foremost. READ THE WARNINGS. This book is a wonderful story with tremendous depth. It does, however, have some DARK parts.

    They're not over the top graphic, or insanely grisly. BUT. They're realistic. Other than those three pages, it's a tale of a girl (Peyton Price) who, while acting as a journalist, takes on a job to interview one of the roughest motorcycle clubs in southern California.

    On the day (actually the moment) Peyton Price meets Nick Navarro in the bar, he pokes his finger up her shorts.

    He's big, he's covered in tattoos, and he's got no shame.

    And he takes no shit.

    A former Navy SEAL, and current bad-ass biker, he struggles with how to handle a local club that is trespassing on his turf.

    When he decides, well...it gets ugly.

    Peyton Price is adventurous. A surfer, snowboarder, and bunjie-jumper, she seeks thrills and adventure in her day-to-day life. When she meets Navarro, his attitude nor his finger scare her.

    She stands to-to-toe with the brash Navarro, and he doesn't quite know what to think.

    The story, at about 50% becomes something quite special. We see the transformation of Navarro develop as he decides to provide Peyton Price with protection (of sorts). We see the transformation of Peyton when she has to decide whether or not to accept Navarro's offer.

    A heart-warming tale of life, how life unfolds, and how easy it is to get caught up in things.

    Be forewarned, this book will rip you to your core. It will toss your heart on the ground, stomp it, then restore it later with a dose of humility and humanity. The hero does NOT cheat, does not have sex outside the relationship, nor is there OM/OW drama. A stand-alone HEA book.

    But Jesus.

    There's so so so much more.

    Ten, and I do mean TEN stars.

    DNF 85%. Spoiler alert.

    I liked this book at first. It was quite funny and had a lot of action from the start, not one of those slow reads.

    And then. The heroine is (of course) gang-raped by four men from a rival mc-club.
    I continued to read past that horrifying part, but eventually I had to give up. I just couldn't finish this book.

    First of all I must say that It was sad to see a heroine as fierce and badass as Peyton, becoming a victim of such extreme sexual violence.

    What really bothers me though is the way the author is handling the aftermaths of the rape.
    I think it's kind of disgusting to be honest with you. Let me brake it down.

    Peyton meets with a counsellor five times and then she's alright again. In fact, she "never thought she would feel so good". I mean....Two weeks and five sessions of therapy later and she's done? Really? Are you fucking kidding me?

    I understand that the author wants to make a point out of Peyton being a strong girl and all, but come on. That kind of abuse would destroy anyone. It's the kind of nightmare you would live with daily, and something that you, with the right help and support, eventually (hopefully) could learn to live with. The way the author chose to give Peyton such a speedy recovery, is ridiculous and ignorant.

    I honestly felt like the severity of the matter was taken to damn lightly. If an author chooses to write about sexual violence (no matter how fictional), then I, as a reader (and as a woman) expect it to be done in a way that shows exactly how serious the topic is. What it does to a person. I want it to be taken seriously. Otherwise, why even bother? It's not like it's entertaining just for the sake of it.

    Some people may say that I'm overreacting, but the honest truth is that all of this really got to me and made me feel sick. I just want to give you the chance to take this into consideration before reading the book. I'm not fuzzy when it comes to books and their contents, I've got quite a tough stomach, but in this case I reacted. A horrible topic was brought up, and then brushed away as if nothing.

    But dear fellow readers. Isn't this a trend we're seeing? The way sexual violence and abuse is used as a "filler" in books? In various poor attempts to give a character more "depth" and "darkness"? The topic is rarely taken seriously. It pisses me the hell off.

    That was all. Over and out from Vippan!

    Wow! I started reading Hard the minute I loaded it on my Kindle and I could not stop reading! Nick and Peyton are outstanding characters who sucked me in from the very first chapter.

    Peyton is a feisty, thrill seeking reporter with the local newspaper, whose assignment is to write a story about the Flithy F***ers MC Club. Nick is the sexy President of the MC and the one Peyton plans on interviewing. From just their first scene together, you know it will be some intense question and answer sessions, not to mention hot.

    Peyton and Nick are both strong and funny and I liked each of them immediately. Nick has definately earned his place as one of my favorite male characters and I equally adored Peyton. Pee Bee is the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Club and he is crazy with some hilarious thrown in. The scenes with he and Nick together were really fun. And Nick's mom, well, she made my heart smile.

    As with all of SH's books, in addition to being enjoyable and really good stories, they always leave you thinking about the deeper meaning that was there too. I always laugh in his stories and often times I cry. Hard is no exception because it covers a tough topic. I won't provide spoilers as I think you should experience the story as I did. Going in blind allows you to feel everthing and live it as each scene appears.

    I'm hoping Pee Bee gets his story. I'd love to see a woman wrap him around her finger.

    As always, awesome job SH. Your stories continue to suck me in and leave me wanting more.

    Every book I read by Scott Hildreth is different from the last. To me that's a sign of a truly talented author. I have to say from the first chapter I had a total girl crush on Peyton. She is totally ballsy, an adrenaline junky, and totally unashamed. She lives how she wants. As a journalist she goes on assignment to do a story on a local MC. She gets an interview with the President of FFMC and immediately feels his pull. Nick likes spending time with Peyton but says he doesn't do relationships. This is their story but it's so much more. There is some really hard subject matter in this book that would be upsetting for some readers. The way that Nick is portrayed in this book is raw and unapologetic. I actually loved his character. The justice that was served against the villains in the book worked for me. It was maybe a little twisted but at the same time could never be enough. Peyton is going down as one of my favorite heroines because she is seriously pretty badass. I'm interested to read more of the Filthy F@ckers MC and to hopefully get more of Nick and Peyton. I wanted an epilogue into their future because nothing makes me happier at the end of a book. I'm greedy that way.

    So where to start with this one?
    I was overall disappointed, I liked it but it was not what I was expecting.

    What I did not like
    #it was not a proper MC and the book was not based on the MC.
    #There was no suspense
    #There was only three consensual sex scenes in the book

    If I put these things to the back of my mind I enjoyed the story.

    What I liked
    #Nick/Crip was HOT!!
    #Pee Bee was a giant, dumb, funny man
    #I liked the banter between Peyton and Nick in the first 50%
    #The Dirty talk at the start was hot (which got the expectations up)

    You are drenched, reporter. It appears your twat does not agree with that bullshit your mouth is trying to sell me. Your wet little pussy wants you to suck my cock.

    I must say that this book won my award for best way to get revenge for sexual abuse.

    Peyton Price is an adrenaline junkie journalist, with a thing for bad boys. She gleefully accepts the challenge when her boss suggests a piece on the notorious Filthy F*ckers MC. Club President Nick Navarro is game for a puff piece with a positive spin, but the fringe benefit of playing with the cub reporter is the real draw.

    The Good:
    1. Peyton is likable, without sacrificing her strength of character.

    2. Nick was a crass badass, without being too controlling.

    3. Despite dealing with heavy issues, this couple drama is very low relationship angst.

    4. Both Peyton and Nick are very mature, while having senses of humor.

    5. The other members of the MC contribute to story without being obvious series bait.

    6. Though we often get dual POV, this felt more guy centered than normal. Maybe the author being a man helped with getting a better glimpse into male thought processes.

    The Bad:
    1. I felt there was an invisible barrier blocking my ability to sense a romantic connection between the couple. They felt more like bros with sexual chemistry.

    2. This goes darker then initial tone suggests.

    3. Peyton might be too much of a cool girl. Goes too easily with the flow without understandable blow-back.

    Final Thoughts:
    This is a well written biker themed story. Though it checks off biker romance boxes, didn't exactly fit that brief for me. It would be great for someone looking for something more testosterone driven.

    This was hard to rate.
    I loved the beginning, and i mean love like a lot, i think i never read better first encounter of main characters in MC books before. It was funny and hot, and it was actually what made me hooked on this book. I enjoy the interaction between Peyton and Nick. They were what i was expecting after reading blurb and i wasnt disappointed.
    But when i get to 50% of the book, well... something happened and i was pissed. Like totally pissed because i didnt know at all that this issue will be in this one. I think i wouldnt read this one if i knew before. . And this is big NO for me. Im okay with .
    So i survived somehow next 30% percent of book and than i started liking it again because things seems to get back to normal as it was at the beginning.
    Yeah, my mistake, next time i have to find more info before i start reading.

    When's the last time a Scott Hildreth book made me cry?
    Never until now.
    We all knew Hard was going to be just that, and once again the author didn't disappoint.
    Peyton is probably one of my favorite female characters ever. She's strong, opinionated and a little nuts, I'm pretty sure she an I could be best friends were she real.
    She's a reporter, given the job of writing a story on the Filthy F*ckers president Nicholas Nevarro.
    This assignment is going to be the best and worst thing that ever happened to her.
    While this book is about the MC and we do get acquainted with a few members, the MC side is sort of woven into Payton's story.
    Her story gets pretty dark, and yes there are triggers so please read the warnings prior to reading this book.
    I personally can say that it did not trigger me, it was handled shall we say with kid gloves, was well written and not graphic. I found myself seeing similarities in her way of dealing with it but it didn't bother me or make me break down. I didn't even put the book down and come back to it, I read right on through without any issue. Thank you Scott for the way you handled this aspect of the story, you made it so I didn't have to miss out on a great book just because it may bring up things I don't want to relive.

    Nick and Payton are great characters, her mouth is probably one of my favorite parts of the book, she just can't stop the snarky replies and it makes for a fun read.
    And Peebee, I think I might have fell in love with him, more like tripped an face planted. What he did for Payton is beyond anything I'd expected and made me respect and adore him and I hope he has a book coming soon. I love it when a secondary character can steal my heart!

    Hard is another hit for Hildreth. From the cover to the dedication to the very last page, which is amazing by the way, Hard pulled me into Payton's world an then into Nick's and kept me glued and losing sleep because I just could not put it down.

    Ooooh, the vengeance is strong in this one!

    I'm not ashamed to admit I was cheering for Pee Bee in the gruesome - and it is gruesome - POV Scott Hildreth gives him. Like - literal cheering.

    description

    What I loved:
    - Peyton was independent, forward, adventurous, proactive, confident - or at least smart enough to try and fake confidence when she wasn't feeling it - and she has an indomitable spirit. I wanted so many good things for her, and SH let her have them!
    - Nick was different to other MC heroes I've read - he was the same type of hard, closed off, demanding, bossy, stoic alpha I've come to love, but he was surprisingly gentle, and aware. With the shitty thing that happens, he holds shit down like I hoped he would.
    So proud of the whole MC, really.
    - Scott Hildreth is a smart writer. I've already pledged my undying love to his characters, but the writing itself was beautiful. The backstory about Peyton's mum and dad, Nick's time in the war, his relationship with his dad - it all sunk so deep into my bones.
    - The banter! Every conversation between Pee Bee and Nick had me beaming like one of those manga cartoon girls.

    description

    Just like to put it out there that this says its FFMC book 1. I'm going to go ahead and assume beg that Pee Bee gets the next book. Ok, thanks.

    What I didn’t love:
    - I couldn't believe I was at the end. The book just flew by. This is a legitimate complaint, I tell you!

    Overall…
    Loved it. Would read the phonebook if SH wrote it, but in the meantime I don't have to prove bugger all to anybody because I have some serious Scott Hildreth binge reading to do. Just not sure where to start...

    Suprisingly good

    Did not expect to like this one so much. Thought it would be typical biker romance. This was a bit more. Gruff? Sure. Humor? Yes. Sexy? Oh yea.

    Be warned: Rape alert? Can't say that part was great, but it was handled as well as it could be.

    Great characters, spunky heroine...gotta love that.

    Somewhere in between 3.5- 3.75 „HARD“ stars

    Peyton Price is a 27 year old journalist working for the San Diego's largest newspaper, The Union-Tribune. When she gets an assignment to do a piece on one of the motorcycle clubs called The Filthy Fuckers that was on a verge of starting the war with a rival MC or so the word was out...

    “Need something on filthy fuckers make it hard edgy and in-your-face maybe a three or four installment piece depending on what you find.“

    Even the fact that she was edgy and adventurous herself...
    “You're a thrill-seeking weirdo, and everyone here knows it...Half my staff would be scared to death, but you'll dive in head first.“

    She never expected the high range of the overwhelming feelings that caught her off guard when she came face to face with Nicolas „Crip“ Navarro, the president of the FF MC
    He was 42, covered in tattoos, and as handsome as any man I had ever seen. Him being a biker made him even more attractive.

    nor could she ever predict the events that would follow altering her life by shattering it, then slowly building it up again finding the support and affection from the unlikely outlaw man, who, along with his MC brothers, would go the very dangerous and law bending/breaking distance to make things right for her, to give her piece and closure she needs.
    “I didn't have a rehearsed or published set of rules or regulations; I simply did what I felt was best under my own system of beliefs.

    Hard is the title of book 1 in the new Filthy Fuckers MC Romance series and I have to say that reviewing it will be just that – hard.

    Why?

    Cause I have all these mixed feelings about it. If I could tear apart the story into fragments there would definitely be these sections: „like“, "kinda liked" and „dislike“

    What I disliked was the (non)connection with the characters. That didn't work for me from the start. And the first meeting between Peyton and Nick was like...hey dude, whoa! And not in a good way either, no matter how „adventurous“ heroine supposed to be. Then everything just felt „rushed“ and „pushed“. I just didn't feel it above the instant attraction and „his need to fuck“. So, I completely disliked Navarro. He was like „saying one thing“ and then „acting it out like a true outlaw man“, no matter how „justified“ the deed was in „his eyes“.

    When he says this:
    „We might not follow society's rules, and we sure as fuck don't abide by society's laws. But, we've got a strict morale code that we live by. Our own set of rules. Each and every rule we follow gets back to the same thing, respect.“

    The next thing he does is, he goes and „blows it out of proportions.“
    I just couldn't connect with the guy. *shrugs*

    BUT interestingly enough I liked the secondary cast – Pee Bee, he's kind of mysterious yet easy going and funny,
    „Are you really six foot eight?“
    „Barefoot, yeah. In boots, six-ten and a little....
    Forty-inch inseam, size sixteen boots, and a double XL shirt. Try findin' shit that fits. Pain in the ass.“
    „Size sixteen? Seriously?“
    „Yep. And I know you're wonderin', so I'll just say it now. What they say is true. And no you can't see it.“

    and contradictory to my dislike of Navarro, for the exact same reason, I could „justify“ the actions of Pee Bee even if they were gross and horrific in their violence, I was still able to relate with them. That's why this is so hard to explain, cause it aint simple, it aint even clear as to reason why I felt the way I did about the MC characters but it is, what it is.

    Concerning the things/fragments I did like, are actually the „main reason“ the „essence“ of why I love Scott Hildreth's books in general – it's the way of implementing difficult and painful subjects that always hold a hidden message or a point thus making the very same subject more explainable, bearable, acceptable for comprehention.

    That's what the heroine went through, a violent act that would scar anyone beyond measure, her coping and the process of mending and healing was the actual part of the story described in a way that, for me, held the „true essence“ of Scott's writing and therefore, raised the overall rating in the end.

    With a slight hint of a better tomorrow, with a slight glimpse of hope, I am riding off...

    QueenZany 5 Star Review

    Hard
    by Scott Hildreth

    Scorching!!! Epic!!!!
    God yes!!!
    Ive read my share of MC books. But this one takes the cake topper!
    Boy Scott Hildreth had me with his filthy talking, fucktastic, spanktastic moments. But oh lordy “Hard” had its drama mixed in with some grittiness. That only lead to the extremely good storyline!! Which was well balanced. Just sheer Perfection!

    Now I think everyone needs a biker in their life!!! Oh please god send me one to man handle me!!!!

  • Lučka

    ~~~ 3 "not sure if I liked it or not" stars~~~
    My original review:
    "So I haven't been able to write this review for a few reasons and after attempting again today it probably won't happen right away...there isn't much of an explanation for why other than this is the first Hildreth book I cried reading and I have a hard time with books I relate to. It still gets 5 stars.
    It took me 3 weeks to finally get around to writing a proper review for Hard, we'll get to the why's a little later, but for now I want to advise readers that the warning is there for a reason. The topic covered in this novel is a heavy one, but Scott Hildreth writes it perfectly and gives us characters we can both relate to and lean on during the hard parts. Hard is not your typical MC Romance, but it is better for that reason.
    Buddy Read with my girl Elizabeth!
    Peyton Price is a risk-taking journalist and she certainly won't say no to the opportunity to pen a piece about the outlaw motorcycle club, Filthy F*ckers MC. At 27, she's pretty and adventurous, the perfect employee at San Diego's largest newspaper, The Union-Tribune, to take on the cocky, tattooed men. She'll do whatever it takes to get the story.
    Nick Navarro, President of the Filthy F*ckers, is a former Navy Seal with a hot body and no filter. Not one for relationships, he spends his time with his brothers, on his bike, and between the legs of hot girls. His first meeting with Peyton is anything but boring and as she starts to hang around to get her story he finds he doesn't mind the bold, sassy girl who's willing to do just about anything. When Peyton gets targeted by a rival MC she finds that brotherhood runs deep and that there's so much more to Nick and the Filthy F*ckers.
    "We might not follow society's rules, and we sure as fuck don't abide by society's laws. But, we've got a strict morale code that we live by. Our own set of rules. Each and every rule we follow gets back to the same thing, respect."
    Told from the dual POV's of Peyton and Nick, Hard is a fast-paced novel with action, romance, a slew of excellent characters, and an overarching plot line that makes it so much more than just an MC novel. From the moment we are introduced to the two main characters it is a case of like 'em or leave 'em, because there is no beating around the bush with these two. The connection is immediate and the smut is outrageous, trust me, you've never met characters like Peyton and Nick before. I loved how head-strong, fearless, and outgoing Peyton was just as much as I liked the dominating Nick with his dirty mouth and smart mind. The dialogue between these two is laugh-out-loud funny, blush-worthy, and at times very sweet. I could read an entire book with Peyton conducting interviews, she knows how to dig. Then you mix in the secondary characters like Pee Bee, the hilarious Sergeant at Arms for the MC, and Elizabeth, Nick's mom, and you get a complete, well-rounded story. Hard brings a secondary level to the MC romance story line, showing life outside of the walls of the MC and giving a very realistic take on what the members can be like. It shows the tough side and the caring side equally. The multi-faceted story is really what kept me turning the pages, I wanted to know what was happening next. Plus, Pee Bee is hilarious and, like several others, I have a bit of a crush on him.
    "This won’t come to an end without spillin’ some blood. Not now. The Savages have gone too far this time..."
    This is the first Scott Hildreth book that has ever made me cry. I almost wish that's all I had to say to explain why Hard gets 5 stars. Hard deals with a topic that I personally wish I didn't understand and relate to, that a lot of people wish they didn't understand, but Scott Hildreth serves justice quickly and takes a horrifyingly real event and gives us the outcome we all wish for. It isn't graphic, it isn't gruesome, but it is emotional and very easy to place yourself in the character's positions. Yes, that's right, I took the warning, put it in the trash can, and chose to read a book I knew would bother me. Scott Hildreth handles the topic with sensitivity and allows readers such as myself, who relate to it personally, to continue reading and enjoying a book that deserves every bit of the attention it is receiving. In this case, this aspect of the story only made me love the characters and their nontraditional romance even more, it made Scott's always present lesson even stronger, and gave me a new favorite book that I will happily suggest to friends.
    "It was painfully obvious she meant more to me than some girl who was simply interviewing me. I liked the thought of it. But I wasn’t sure if I could allow it."
    Walking into this I was not expecting to feel so much. But I did. Peyton, Nick and Pee Bee are definitely going to be staying in mind for a while. This isn't your typical MC story. All the characters are very tough and strong willed especially Nick and Peyton.
    I loved Peyton. She is a badass bitch, if she wasn't fictional we would be best friends. Peyton went after what she wanted and was not afraid of a challenge. I really admired that about her.
    Nick had to be my favourite character. Seriously what is there not to love?
    Nick was a character that felt so real to me. His opinions and thoughts, interested and intrigued me. He had a funny side but he also had a serious side. He had a very dominant personality and I loved it.
    Pee Bee and Nick had a great friendship. I loved Pee Bee he gave the story some light in the dark times. He has to get his own book next. I'm so curious to see who he will fall for.
    I will say that some might want to keep a tissue handy because it will be sad and it will hit you HARD
    The sex scenes were hot but there wasn't enough LOL! Sorry I wanted more Nick, his mouth was filthy.
    Unfortunately the reason this isn't 5 star read for me is because, I felt like I didn't really get to see Nick and Peyton together. I wanted them to be alone more without the interviewing and more scenes together before the horrible event took place. I also wanted the two of them to have more scenes without Pee Bee at times he was kind of the third wheel. Even though I actually loved how close Pee Bee got with Peyton I thought their friendship was cute.
    I also would have liked to meet more of the other members in the FILTHY FUCKEERS MC. I love that name!!
    At some point in my life I want to live in a Hildreth book… In a Hildreth town...with Hildrethesque people to play with. I want to be able to do epic things with ziploc bags instead of just packing a sandwich and chips...I want to get to wear my mean mug face while I ride and actually like the taste of Buttwiper in a bottle. I wanna eat man meat BBQ with Pee Bee because I just know he’d be my 6’8” dream come true…(#tallgirlproblems) I’d teach him that all he learned from Nick about being an older man can be just as true for a older woman…(#cougarsunite)
    Nick “Crip” Navarro would always have my back because he owes me BIG. lol
    Peyton and I would make jokes about the boys and enjoy being called bitches for once in our lives. We’d all gather at Moma Elizabeth’s house every year for my birthday and eat chicken marsala because that’s one of my favorite meals...#truestory.
    But most of all, I would love to live in a Hildreth town because we would always be there for one another. I’d have a family that would never leave me behind. I’d have brothers and sisters that take care of their own. I’d be witness to one of the sweetest, hottest love stories ever told. I’d get to see Nick and Peyton begin their lives and grow together…
    So, Scott, if Pee Bee already has a love interest in the works I need for you to kill her, in the prologue. So I can comfort him and we can grow old together…
    On a serious note…there is always a point that Hildreth makes me cry in the damn book. This one was no exception. Nick was so multifaceted and complex. His desire to protect Peyton, all the while staying within the confines of his values and keeping his hard core status pulled at my heart. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but once again “Hildreth, the man” came through in the final chapters. The raw emotion and conviction of the final pages had me wiping “the feels” from my face. I loved how he made survivorship one of the strongest love scenes ever.
    “I am not broken, really.” I honestly lost my s@#$ on those five words. To some extent we are all broken in some way, but sometimes we just want to not be in our brokenness for a little while. We want to be strong, and whole, and able to withstand the hard f@#$ings that life sends our way. We want to be able to ride it and raise our hands in the air like we are flying. Sometimes held together with duct tape, sometimes by sheer will, but hopefully we are held together by the love others and the belief that we are in fact not broken, or damaged or less because of our past.
    So here’s to not being “broken” any longer and raising my hands in the air to ride it like I am flying… #IWannaBePeeBeesJelly
    Scott Hildreth is the Quentin Tarantino of hard driving, breath catching, action packed romance. I'm simply breathless. Best book I've read in a while. Not for the faint of heart. It's violent, tough, heart wrenchng, tender, foul-mouthed (what would you expect from a motorcycle club), romantic and, dare I say, erotic. It packs a punch. But I simply loved the characters and the story telling. Wow. Oh Wow. Oh Wowie. There are many other reviews if you want spoilers. I'm not going to do that. But for the open minded reader who knows good story telling when he/she reads it, I highly recommend HARD.
    I have only listened to one other Scott Hildreth book and I enjoyed it. MC books for me are a shot in the dark. I am glad I finally found the time to listen because this had everything about MC books that I love an none of the stuff that I didn’t.
    Nick is a manly man, not a d ick trust me there is a difference! Many authors make the mistake of making MC fellas Dicks and miss the mark on a MAN. I really enjoyed getting to see him squirm just a little bit. For a fella who always said he never wanted an ol’ lady. ;)
    Peyton is exactly who I was hoping we would get, she wasn’t a sweet butt and so what if she likes what she likes at least she admitted it to herself. Her journey in this book is heartbreaking but admirable.
    Normally I get mad that authors give so much negative stuff on one character and then it feels like dramalama but that didn’t happen at all with this book thank you, Scott.
    The narration, now I enjoyed them all, I did find Peyton’s voice to be a little young sounding but other than that they all do a great job helping you get lost in the words.
    It is funny I was SOOOO excited reading this book and it inspired a huge range of emotions, but writing this review I have a somewhat soft graceful feeling in reflecting what to say about the novel HARD.
    BEAUTIFUL, that is the word comes to my mind when I think of this story. Strange I know, a badass biker book titled HARD inspiring something beautiful, but Scott Hildreth novel did just that FOR ME. This author has done a biker series before and I LOVED it, so I was unsure that this book could live up to the memory of the previous novels. LMAO—saying I was wrong, is not new territory for me when it comes to a Hildreth book, HARD stands on its own, it was AMAZING……
    The feelings that this novel instilled were kinda unbelievable that when I finished the first read, I immediately went back for round two. What I discovered was that the novel was even MORE beautiful the second time around. The first time as a reader I had judgments on how I wanted a scene to go, more of this, less of that, but enjoying the novel a second time, I was able to see how each scene was exactly what it was suppose to be, I might not have understood it while it was happening but it ALL worked in the end. That is a gift this author has, you just have to trust him, and I HIGHLY recommend the re-read.
    Ok, on to the main characters, Peyton Price, was a lovely, heart warming, spit fire. I loved her, and more importantly I admired this character. The chemistry between her and Nick was electric and leapt off the page. But more importantly these characters respected each other. Below is one example of Nick’s thoughts on Peyton.
    What I admired most of Peyton was her courage and her humility. This woman in the face of some extremely terrible tragedies, thought only of protecting those she cared for and respected. She handled what was put in front of her, she did not run, and she did not escape. She faced life head on, even the HARD, and on the other side, she again thought only to share and help others, with the story of her journey.
    In comes Nick Navarro, LMAO—ummmm…. I truly thought Axton, was the harshest, Hildreth character to date, well, nope I was wrong. Nick aka Crip was the HARD badass, outlaw, biker that grabbed Peyton’s attention.
    Navarro was the kind of Hildreth character that I love the most, he makes you work to try and figure him out, and in the end you realize that there is still so much more you want to know, well at least for this greedy reader, I am dorky that way.... So what that I want to know his favorite breakfast cereal, and/or his dislikes when it comes to tv shows, don't judge, you know you did too. The author did a remarkable job of portraying the many sides of Nick Navarro, I honestly cannot decide which parts of him were my favorites, if I had to pick I would have to say the humorous side.
    LOL—Speaking of humor, this is a great time to mention the secondary character who stole every scene he was in, Pee Bee!!!! WOOHOOO!!!! I love this character; I am cracking up as I am typing, in thinking all the times he and Nick made me laugh. You must read this wonderful book to meet Peeb, and yes I am VERY much looking forward to his story.
    I cannot recommend this book enough, even if biker books are not your thing, this book is not to be missed. The relationship between Peyton and Nick is so uniquely loving, here is a small glimpse…
    To sum up I am going to quote some of Peyton’s thoughts,
    “…..a story that made a difference. Something that was gut-wrenching, but not too violent. A heartfelt, but tear-jerking story that stuck with the reader long after they were done reading it. Something they may even read again.”
    I am getting a little emotional thinking back to all that this couple went through in this novel, and the people that loved and supported them through it all. How in the end they never had to face anything alone, all they had to do was be honest, trust and help each other, which they did in the most BEAUTIFUL way, even when it was HARD. Thank you Mr. Hildreth for another example of how to stay human. That is it, that is all I got….
    The book so far left me pretty conflicted. The plot starts interesting but thins out pretty quickly. The writing style and the characters left me baffled and disconnected.
    I just reread some scenes. And yeah, not one emotional description, just facts, actions and reactions. But nothing deeper. It is all written very clinical for me to connect.
    The first murder scene felt like watching dumb and dumber trying to steal bikes but end up accidentally, out of stupidity, murdering the brother of the leader of a rival MC called "the savages". Without any emotional reaction to the situation whatsoever, just plain and simple, not one emotion, being it good or bad or even instinctual. Nope, nada, just pure indifference and nonchalance.
    Then there is this: You kill the president's brother of a rival MC and expect no retaliation?!?
    ..."This won’t come to an end without spillin’ some blood. Not now. The Savages have gone too far this time."...
    There is just not given enough background information at this point, to justify that the rival club called "the savages" is the bad one here. How did they go too far, by coming by and asking what happened to their murdered brother?
    And throwing out words of Honor and Respect, are just confusing at this point.
    The characters also have their inconsistencies. The behavior often doesn't match their descriptions or inner-monologues.
    That constant bickering between Crip and Pee Bee, felt like watching an old couple arguing back and forth. But the humor felt off and forced.
    Those constant inner monologues were confusing. They were like justifications and vindications for and about their lifestyle choices. The heroine defended her behavior which apparently is a stigma of today's society and the role of a woman in it. Then there was the defense of the concept of the motorcycle club - how it is seen by the society in comparison to law abiding and lawless citizens. I find that unnecessary, sometimes even weird to have those, sometimes philosophical, thoughts put out there at random. As if the reader would judge the characters and their mindset? Or maybe the author needs to deliver some kind of important message of Honor, Respect and Anti-rape to the reader? The plot was really thin and felt more set on delivering an important cultural propaganda. Which i am fully agreeing when it comes to rape.
    But it wasn't delivered through the story. Instead it was more like the storyline served just as a purpose.
    The only time i felt an emotional connection, that it was right and well written, was the final article at the end. Which i enjoyed and really liked.
    Momma’s Review of Hard (Filthy F*ckers MC by Scott Hildreth
    Momma’s Rating 5 Blown Away Stars
    I have literally just finished this book, and I’m sure that my thoughts are a jumbled mess as I truly haven’t had a chance to marinate on all I have just read. So bear with me if this review doesn’t make a lick of sense.
    As with any book Scott writes I’m never really sure just what I’ll get when I delve into one of his stories. I can honestly say this story blew my ever loving mind! The dedication in this book is truly beautiful, but it should have been a warning of what was coming my way. Normally I devour any of Scott’s books, this one I savored each and every page, this story consumed me. It was an intense emotional journey an unforgettable read that will sit with me for some time. This story has many elements of life and just how Fair isn’t in the equation. I’m sure that I can’t even begin to write a review that will give this story the justice it deserves. I will only say that if you get nothing from my review understand this… I was captivated and drawn to each and every page and truly didn’t want the story to end. I felt every event good and bad. Amazing doesn’t even come close to what I loved about this story.
    Peyton the young reporter sent in to do her job, one of which she isn’t afraid to complete even knowing she will be in the midst of The Filthy F*ckers MC. The President of the Filthy F*ckers MC Nick Navarro and Peyton are a lethal mixture of foreplay. Their chemistry is off the charts.
    The story is so much more than just two people who meet and are drawn to one another, there are definitely some elements in this story that the author touches that touched my heart at the same time I’m had to breathe through some of the tragic moments within these pages. If you have never read a Scott Hildreth book before, then you should most definitely begin with this series as it will rock you to the very core. IT has passion, and depth that will pull you into a world that you’ll live through just as these characters are, this is a story that you “Feel.”
    Damn you Mr. Hildreth for making a girl cry, not an easy thing to do for this ole gal. But a job well done! I look forward to the next installment of this series Hard is a “Must Read” one book not to be missed as I’m sure the next in the series will be the same.
    Hard- where do I even begin? I loved this story. It had the MC feel without being completely over the top and overly vulgar. Does that make sense? I have read my fair share of MC stories and although the language and some violence is still present, it was a bit different and in a good way.
    Peyton is my hero. Seriously, this woman is not only beautiful but also smart and amazing and an adrenaline freak. She stands on her own two feet and doesn’t back down no matter what. When she meets the infamous prez, Nick Navarro, she loses all control. She is literally putty in his hands.
    Nick Navarro, without giving anything away, this man is more than the president of his MC. So much more. Under that hard core exterior is a gentle and caring soul. It doesn’t surface much but when it does, it makes him simply irresistible.
    He reluctantly does an interview with a local reporter and when he sees her, he wants all of her. The one thing you learn quickly is that what Nick wants, he gets and he doesn’t give a F*ck about it.
    Their journey quickly goes from strangers to lovers, to friends and then so much more. For the first time in his life, he finds himself caring about a woman. He is completely in unchartered territory but he embraces it best he can.
    There are two scenes in this book that readers may find extremely disturbing. I will say this, the first scene was done with absolute care, concern and taste, enough detail to give you a picture of what is going on without over doing it, kind of like a fade to black. You know what happens without having to read the details.
    The second scene is one that could give a mob/gangster movie a run for its money. This is taking “to the mattresses” to a whole new level. Let me just tell you, it will leave you thinking HOLY SHIT while your jaw drops and you cringe, then breathe out… did that just fucking happen? I admit, it was sick but I was like YEAH, those assholes deserved that.
    The ending, I was in tears and also inspired, so beautiful and raw and honest.
    I have been a fan of Mr. Hildreth since his first book, Undefeated. As a reader and a blogger, I love to watch authors grow. His work just gets better and better. This is by far my favorite of his and I look forward to his continued growth that I know will keep me in awe.
    Let me just start by saying that this is my 1st SH book in a long while. I stopped reading them way back when. I found that his writing, although I loved it, was getting repetitive. I knew what was coming before I even read it. But I missed it. I missed his writing. I missed my reading buddies that I had numerous SH discussions with. So....this brings me to now, to Hard.
    This book was a really good read. There were times it was difficult to read due to things happening in the book. Payton is a reporter who is asked to write a 3-4 part article on the Filthy F***ers MC. Little did Payton know what she was getting into.
    This book, as with all Hildreth books, is super alpha and hot as hell!! Nick is the president of the FFMC and agrees to do an interview with the sexy journalist Payton. Little does he know what he is in for. But bringing Payton into his world has its price. A price that will change her life forever.
    I like this author's writing because he gets right to it. There is no BS. No waiting. This book was no different. Although this book touches on a very hurtful subject and the h has something very painful happen to her, the author I think tried to be mindful of his readers and was not at all descriptive as it was happening. The book might be a trigger for some, but I am thinking the way it is written it should be ok.
    I'm glad to be back on the SH bandwagon. Looking forward to the next book in this series. Pee Bee, I'm coming for you!
