Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move...
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she's gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means...
3. She's the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits... But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.
***
The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can't risk my job for a chance at something more... can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either...

The Sexy One is a fun new story Ms. Blakely has brought to us to swoon over and love just as much as her previous stories. We've all met Simon in Mister O. He's the single dad to a darling little girl. A marriage gone south has left him single and alone. His priority is his daughter and her happiness until a certain little nanny comes along and sweeps him off his feet. Well, almost. He has the hots for the hot nanny. What he doesn't know is that the hot and quirky nanny has the hots for him too. Will the boss and the naughty nanny finally realize their temptation to each other is too strong to avoid?
Oh Simon...be still my heart! This man, he's irresistible, charming and so swoony he will melt your panties right off. I'm 100% in love and have a new book boyfriend to add to my collection of hotness! Absolutely FLOVED every second of The Sexy One. 5 naughty and sweet stars for another Blakely favorite! -

Now before this is dismissed as a promotional 5 Star review of this book...Please take a second and remember, it is brought to you by a gal who has no shame in her game. I have always believed in letting you know when I am thrilled to be reading a favorite author, and with this new Stand-Alone/Loosely Connected Grouping Lauren Blakely has created...I AM ALL IN.
I have written before about Blakely's ability to Touch All the Bases (heh heh) in some of her books. She brings the humor, the heat, the heart, and ties it all up with a focused plot that falls into place perfectly. She does it time and time again...and in this latest entry of her stand-alone grouping, this is the sweetest, coolest one yet.
If you have been reading these books, Big Rock, Mister O, and Well Hung then you have met the circle of friends and know the environment of these stories. It is New York City at its best. It is creative people who have found careers, focus, and friendships. It is about Grown Ups...people who have mostly worked out a lot of their angst and are pretty settled as to who they are. The men do have strong bank accounts and the women are never interested in them because of it. All of the relationships are based on a pretty equal footing ... meaning there may be financial gaps...but it is the people and who they are which is the draw. That is not to concede in the course of these stories it allows things to happen easier. Blakely is aware and does not take advantage; meaning her draw is solely not the opulence that money brings...her focus is more on what takes place between people who have the freedom to live without the worries ... and this allows us to spend time doing the same.
In The Sexy One the title is not a pun on package like all the others. As wonderful and as gloriously fun the other books were...AND THEY WERE...This book focuses on a couple with a sweet attraction; a real love which was enhanced by each person's true nature....and that truth and a real sense of self is the sexiest thing ever.
The love of a father for his daughter...
The openness and guile of a woman who knows who she is and is authentic 100 percent of the time.
Yes, at 34, Simon Travers being the walk out of the boardroom, be the cover of the Sexiest Dad in the World People Magazine issue handsome didn't hurt but what really struck every chord of all the women who gazed at him interact with his daughter was the undeniable love and bond he had with her. This was not a man who came and picked up his kid at the pool from his nanny because it was time... or it was his weekend to have custody ...No, this was a man in love with his daughter and everything she did or uttered was important to him. It was sincere and real.
And Sexy as Hell.
And this was what 26-year-old Abby Becker had to deal with every single day since becoming Hayden's nanny 7 months ago. It only took 3 days for her to fall head over heels for this man. It was impossible to not watch how the father and daughter talked, played, and just be ...without sinking into that gooey places of Gahhhhh. That Simon was tall, strong, had a quick mind, and interacted with Abby like she was a person, not an employee, didn't help. Simon was the perfect father, boss, and all-around cool guy.
Too friggin' bad he is her boss...
Good thing she has mastered the ability to pretend all the hotness doesn't phase her in front of others...
Good thing she holds those moments when they sometimes have a little time together when no one else is around and she can experience him with no filters...
Yup, Too Bad He Is Her Boss...
Simon is in a place in his life where he finally has his priorities in order. He did the fight to climb to the top of the Financial Industry...and it was not the end all be all he thought it would be. He loved putting the deal together... capturing the prized negotiation. He was good at it but it also took him away from his marriage and daughter. It became clear when the marriage was not working and his ex decided a co-worker was the better use of her time.
Luckily, Simon realized it would be the loss of his daughter in his everyday life which would cut him to the quick. Life decisions and focus changed; Simon was able to obtain primary custody of Hayden because her mother traveled so much.
Enter Abby into their lives. Simon worked hard to locate the Right person for Hayden and when Harper, the party magician Simon had hired for a party became a resource, Simon asked her if she had any ideas for what he was looking for in a nanny. Abby had been best buddies with Harper since college and Abby's ability to be fluent in languages and was a teacher... sounded wonderful. When she came to interview for the position, it was a no-brainer...she was a gift. A beautifully, smart open-hearted gift for Simon and Hayden.
However, Simon never planned on being that cliche...falling for the babysitter or nanny. He respected who Abby was... understood her life goals and admired how real and truthful she was...something so opposite of his ex. Her way of handling Hayden, her introducing them to the love of nature and all its creatures was a catalyst.
Who knew Eagle TV could be so enticing...
Who knew watching the Male Eagle bring a squirrel to feed the Mother and Babies would stimulate the Alpha/Caveman in him and the want for a hero in Abby...
These two are destined to be together... it is only a matter of time and figuring out how to work out the blatant pitfalls...
This book was the most delicious of delicious...It was never too sweet or saccharine. It had bite, interest, and real struggles...but not ones that were made up or overly angsty. There was no husband cheating with the nanny bow chicka bow wow scenario...Neither adult was involved with someone else. The complication was real and both Abby and Simon were fighting their attraction because of it.
Yet, when they finally give into to their feelings...People...A First Kiss has never been so good....Just sayin'...This Blakely... so you know all their sexy times cause my kindle to almost short out...
This was a terrific read (can ya tell I loved it). It wanted to show when things are true, real, and undeniable... then they have a way of working out. It is important to see what is important in life; do not let others judge or keep you from loving...for it is in the loving of others, we find ourselves and are able to share so much more...
The thrilling news is Lauren Blakely has tapped into a creative gusher and more books are on the way. With characters we have already met, we are first getting a special taste of a couple who rocked each other's worlds only to not see each other for 10 years...and then meet under very different circumstances. The Only One is coming in December 2016. Next The Hot One will have one of our guys aiming to make his past love his present and future...and use all of his "past appreciated talents" to make it happen. March 2017 will be a great month.

THE SEXY ONE is Lauren Blakely's most ROMANTIC book yet!
Was it funny? Uh, hello...it's a Lauren Blakely book. Of course it was HILARIOUS! Was it sexy? Have you read the title? It's SEXY as hell! But the ROMANCE...the romance seeped off of every single page, coating my heart, and left me in a big pile of feels! It soothed my soul and warmed my heart, speaking to every romantic bone in my body. There were butterflies...hell the whole damn zoo was running a muck in my stomach the entire time!
Lauren Blakely continues to hold her spot on my TOP FAVE list with every new release she brings to the world. A sinful, romantic masterpiece of a love story!
Abby and Simon's charming story will captivate and enthrall! It will hold your heart hostage until the very end. It's swoon-tastic! It's sweeter than sweet! It's delicious, sexy, and just lovely. This single dad will threaten your ovaries to combust and you panties to melt right off your bodies, but be warned he is different from Blakely's other heroes. He has a tender touch and a beautiful mouth that just keeps you in a complete daze where nothing else exists. Abby never stood a chance, but the journey to their happily ever after is one that you will never forget. THE SEXY ONE is the complete definition of ROMANCE. Nobody makes you swoon like Lauren Blakely...nobody.

Such a sweet and adorable story that melted my heart!
Lauren Blakely is presenting us a story with forbidden elements.
Smart, hardworking, sexy single dad and his sweet, caring and adorable nanny.
Both of them have been feeling something more than just professional relationship for a longer period of time but both of them were pretending like it wasn't there and going on like nothing was happening until one day they couldn't keep it up anymore and everything just burst.
This was such a joy to read and I enjoyed every sentence of it.
When you dive into it you kind of know what to expect and there are no major twists and turns but it still draws you in and keep putting a smile on your face.
Simon was a picture perfect father, friend, employer and of course lover ;)
He was presented as a very respectful man who knows what goes and what doesn't.
I was so smitten with the love he had for his daughter and how small things can mean so much.
Abby was like an angel who did everything right.
A perfect girl next door type, I would love to be her friend *HAHA*
This book has a dual POV and that makes it even better, I am a total sucker for wanting to know what both side of the characters go through and what goes on in their minds.
The pace was even and light and it was easy to follow the whole story.
One of my favorite moments in the book was all the sweet/hot/naughty texting between Simon and Abby. That was just superb simple and still so brilliant.
If you want a feel good book that will make you smile and swoon this is your pick!
It will not disappoint!
Lauren never does! -
I love romcoms and so far, I’ve read many, but here’s the thing, Lauren Blakely is the perfect author when you want a sweet, sexy and fun, low in angst and drama story. She always delivers delightful romantic comedies that suck you in, in one way or another, from the very beginning. 'The Sexy One' was another fantastic read by this author that will entertain you from start to finish.“If you looked up ‘hot single dad’ in the dictionary, you’d find his picture.”
“With a smile that makes you melt into a puddle of lust”, Simon is a sexy, gorgeous single dad who happens to be smitten with his daughter nanny, Abbi. He’s been in lust with her for seven months since she started to work for him, but he doesn’t want to jeopardize his relationship with her in any way, especially since Abby is a great nanny and his daughter cares for her. Needless to say, he has to forget about “this thing” for the nanny sooner rather than later.“…there’s more to him than meets the eye. So much more.”
Abbi loves her job as a nanny. She’s sweet, caring and very patient and overall, really great with kids. Abbi had been lusting for Simon for a while now. She managed to hide her attraction towards him pretty great so far, but she treasures every single moment alone with the sexy single dad. Abbi loves her job and she really cares for Simon’s little girl, so she doesn’t want for anything to change between them, mainly because she really needs a job.
Both of them have serious reasons for wanting to stay away from each other, but their dynamic changes when the temptation becomes too much. But one kiss is not enough for neither of them.“Our lips touch, and it’s like a world that was ordinary has now turned extraordinary. I cup her cheeks, holding her face as I deepen the kiss. More lips, more tongue, more teeth. More Abby. My entire body is alive. My heart pounds, my brain fires, and I’m wildly turned on.”
I think 'The Sexy One' was the sweetest, most romantic romcom I’ve read by this author. I enjoyed the story line, the two main characters, but I really loved the romantic aspect. Simon and Abby’s story was so, so sweet, one of the sweetest friends to lovers story I’ve read so far. These two will make you smile and swoon from beginning until the end and the forbidden twist made their story even more entertaining. I found both main characters to be endearing and engaging and I liked how both of them had so much depth.
Simon was a wonderful hero. I loved his portrayal…duhhh, you will too, I guarantee. He was such a great father to his little girl and a great boss. I loved the way he was with Abby, how much he respected her and appreciated her honesty, how much he loved her personality. He was kind, charming, sweet and thoughtful and perfect for Abby in every way. I’m sure many readers will think the same. Abby was pretty great too. She was sweet, caring, smart, bold and I loved how independent she was. She was also a fantastic nanny and I totally understood her reasoning for not wanting…at first, to start something with Simon.“…every second I spend with Abby makes me want more of her. Every laugh, every comment—every thing she says or does. The more I have of Abby, the more I want.”
I loved these two characters together. They were wonderful and so tender at times and they will put a big smile on your face as the story unfolds. Their connection was palpable from the start and the sexy scenes and sexy texts between them were hot as hell.
All in all, 'The Sexy One' was another fantastic read by Mrs. Blakely with a great story line, endearing characters and plenty of sweet and sexy moments.

Perfection!!
Book Review: 5+++ Stars
Simon, Simon, my sexy, sweet and gentleman Simon *sigh*, you are pure perfection.
This has been on repeat in my head for two days now. Lauren Blakely has created one new story, sexy, funny and with an overdose of sweetness that got so deep into my heart and now owns me. Sorry Nick, Simon gave you a run for your money, but don’t worry, I still love you.
The Sexy One is the story of Simon, the single dad who hired Harper to make her magic act in his little girl’s birthday party in
Mister O . He was introduced as a devoted parent and a very respectful guy. But that was just the peak of the iceberg, Simon is way much more than that:He’s sweet, kind, smart, funny, and good. So damn good. And, for a bonus prize, add in that he’s an amazing father. That’s some sexy kryptonite right there.
“Some kryptonite” said Abby, I could say that too *sigh*. And… he was also very, very good looking:Six foot three. Broad shoulders. Flat stomach. Trim waist. Square jawline. Hint of stubble. Dark blond hair. Light blue eyes. And a smile that makes you melt into a puddle of lust.
It’s been sometime since I put a face to my book boyfriends, but that description only has a name: JENSEN ACKLES. Ok, ok, Jensen doesn't have blue eyes, and he isn't 6’3” but I could only see Jensen when I was reading this book. *sigh*
Anyway, Simon… He hired a nanny thanks to Harper’s recommendation: Abby. She was so good with kids, she was patience, caring, so dedicated to her job(s) and with little Hayden she was the sweetest ever and she made the little girl so happy. And if Hayden was happy, Simon was happy and everything was good in his world.
But the truth was that Simon was so attracted to Abby that he was going crazy and for his luck, it was the same for her, but… Wanting someone the way they wanted each other, no, hold on, they didn't want each other, they craved each other, it was something they couldn't do, because he was her boss, she was his nanny and it wouldn't be so good for any of them. Until… The temptation was bigger than the reason…Our lips touch, and it’s like a world that was ordinary has now turned extraordinary.
*Day dreaming about Simon* Like I said, this is PERFECTION!! I don't think it is necessary to say how much I loved this book, the romance, the funny and sexy parts. It even has a little drama, I was on the edge of my office chair, sneaky reading during my work hours because I couldn't put it down. I loved how this book ended, the epilogue and extended epilogue were awesome and I wish I had another epilogue because I want more of this amazing couple. All in all, The Sexy One is a perfection of a book, one more proof why Lauren is one of my #TopAuthors ever. Now you go and read it, I assure you’ll love it as much as I did.
Dream cast: Jensen and JJ Ackles as Simon and Hayden

***ARC received in exchange for an honest review***
If you are looking for a new book boyfriend (or even if you are not), look no further because Simon Travers will make your knees weak and your insides swoon! Lauren Blakely is known for her hot, sexy alpha males but Simon is a different breed unto his own. Yes, he's super hot and sexy but what is most endearing is that he is a single dad who is so incredible with his daughter that you will most certainly feel your ovaries explode the moment you open this book! No joke---he is probably THE hottest single dad I've ever read about and trust me....I've read quite a few who have made me swoon! But Simon is in his own league! He is the coolest dad and completely committed to his little girl which elevates him to perfection. We first met Simon in Blakely's Mister O when Harper was hired as the magician for Simon's daughter, Hayden's birthday party. Even then he made me swoon! Fast forward to The Sexy One and I pretty much did a jig knowing I was about to read an ENTIRE BOOK about this amazing man! And Blakely did not disappoint even the slightest because this book is everything I could've hoped for and more!
Abby is Hayden's nanny---she's sweet, she's fun and, of course, she's gorgeous. Hayden is an adorably precocious 5 year old girl who, at times, stole the show because she was just too adorable and funny for words! She loves Abby who introduces her to many new and exciting things as they navigate around the city. Abby has harbored a huge crush on Simon since she started working for him and, unbeknownst to her, it has been completely mutual all along. Watching their attraction continue to grow is like a dance in seduction and I couldn't wait for the moment they would finally connect. And when that time came-----WHOA! Talk about sparks and fireworks! The chemistry between Simon and Abby was insane and, in typical Blakely fashion, their story became insanely sexy, hot and steamy. I'm talking 5-alarm, hose me down H-O-T!!! But not only is this story hot, it's also laugh-out-loud funny, tender and beautiful. Simon and Abby are two people who are evidently meant for each other and it shows throughout the story. There is so much love and goodness with all of the characters that you will be rooting for them from the first page. This was probably one of my favorite stories of Blakely's because of how real and genuine the characters were. Of course, that could be said for all of her books but this one struck me differently because of Simon and his relationship with Hayden. There is just something about a single dad and his love for his little girl that did me in! The Sexy One is 5++ stars all the way!!! -
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the book.
I. Love. Lauren. Blakely.
"It's my new favorite hobby. Giving you orgasms." Simon had my heart beating wildly in this sweet tale of the single dad and his nanny. He and Abby are perfect together and their mutual love for his daughter, Hayden, just makes it that much more perfect.
We first met Simon in Mister O, the Harper and Nick's story of crazy love. He appeared to get snubbed when Harper picks Nick over him, but now I see that Lauren Blakely was just setting us up to see what was really going on behind the scenes ;).
I swear I write something similar to this in every review I write in one of her books, but I love her leading ladies. Abby is smart and bold and unashamed of what she wants in life. She also has the biggest heart. Once she and Simon pass that point of no return, she doesn't hesitate to let him know what's on her mind at every turn.
Lastly, I love the familial connection that is so organic between Simon, Abby and his daughter. The nanny/charge relationship is so strong and natural that once Simon reveals to Hayden what's going on, she doesn't bat an eye; she simply asks if Abby can tag along more often to her activities.
I tried to keep my review spoiler-free so I hope if you choose to read that you love Simon and Abby as much as I did! -
I LOVED this book SO much! Simon is a wonderful addition to the "Blakely Boys." Swoony, especially when he's with his daughter, and just a perfect mix of sweet and sexy! Abby is independent and a perfect match for this man. I love all of their conversations, and seeing them finally admit how they feel! And how could anyone not love Hayden? A wonderfully special book!

***ARC Provided via the Author***
I finished this last night. After some time to think, I can honestly say this is the best book I have read this year. And, I am not just saying that because I am an early reviewer and Lauren Blakely is a favorite of mine. This book hit all the right notes, and it did it perfectly. I just enjoyed this book. I had to put it down a couple of times while I was reading, and I thought about it. I wanted to get back to it, and I wanted to know what happens. If there is a better feeling than reading a book and not wanting to put it down, I am not sure what it is...
My reasons for saying it is the best book I have read this year:
1. My All Time Favorites List- this book went on this list. Immediately. I read about 300 books per year. There are less than 30 books on this list. I have "re-read lists" and I have a 5 star book list. The "all time" list is for those books that I read and immediately re-read. The list is for those books that I can't get out of my mind. For the books that I will be reading again in 6 months, and again in a year, and again when I want a book to read that I know I will just enjoy. So, yeah...it's not an easy list to make and I am a picky reader.
2. The plot and pacing were perfect. There were no slow points, no places where you felt the story was moving too quickly. You never feel like an important point is missed. The twists and turns were authentic, and you believed in them. It seemed real. The things that happen, the way Simon and Abby's relationship progresses...you believe it. You are reading about people, not characters in a book.
3. The characters- I mentioned them, but really, so perfect. All the feels. Both Simon and Abby are so genuine. Their concerns about hurting one another, and the relationship they have not only with one another but with Simon's daughter...just perfect. I am not going into too much about his daughter in this, as she and the relationship that revolves around her, and that exists because of her, really is the heart and soul of this book...and I don't want to ruin it for anyone. So, this part is a little glossed over...intentionally.
This is a slow burn, friends to lovers book. But what I loved about it is that while it is a slow burn, you see where Simon and Abby are both coming from, the fact that they are both fighting an attraction that they feel they should not act upon. And, this turns out to be the best possible foundation for the new relationship. They have it all, and you just know they are meant to be...even if it takes them a little while to stop fighting it.
I loved the lack of drama. I don't want to give anything away...but there were some obvious places for drama that were not given this opportunity. And, I loved this...I loved that Lauren Blakely instead took the harder route of telling their story. It would have been easier, in many ways, to take the easy drama. But, this is the reason that I read Lauren Blakely's books the second I have them. I know going in that I am going to get a well written story that stays central to the characters, the emotions, and the heart of the story.
I loved the epilogue...well, both of them actually. So perfect, so them.
This will come as no surprise...but I recommend this book in all of its cab ride, nesting eagle, blueberry cake glory. -
The best relationships begin as friendships.
Sometimes you need more spice and sizzle when devouring a book. Other times you want that sweet story that makes you gush at the great love resonating throughout the read. Lauren Blakely went a bit rogue on The Sexy One—penning it in a dual POV, pumping it with more passion, and sweetening this story with more sugary goodness than her previous romances—and I LOVED EVERY MAGICAL MINUTE!!!
It didn’t take me but a few pages to realize that this romance from the lovely Lauren Blakely was different. Different in a sweet sigh sort of way. Different in a fluttery butterfly way. Different in THE BEST WAY.
Ahhh…The Sexy One. Don’t let this story’s name fool you; there is so much more sweetness than sexiness buried beneath The Sexy One. Subtly sexy and sugary sweet, The Sexy One is a good old-fashioned love story with a forbidden twist.
Simon Travers, a single and super sexy dad, develops a friendship with his little lady’s beautiful nanny, Abby. That friendship is full of sparks that are ready to ignite into a firestorm. This book was ready to go boom.
“If you look up ‘hot single dad’ in the dictionary, you’d find his picture…He’s the prize in the available dad sweepstakes.”
Oh did Simon make me melt into a pool of goo from head to toe. Six feet three inches of hotness with broad shoulders, prize abs, facial stubble, dark blond hair, and crystal blue eyes made for one panty-melting piece of perfection. Add that hotness to the sexy and sweet single dad and I was DONE. DONE!
“For a bonus prize, add in that he’s an amazing father. That’s some sexy kryptonite right there.”
HOLY SWOON! I’ve succumbed to Simon and I haven’t even hit 5% into the story. This man is already everything and he hasn’t even opened his mouth yet.
Simon can’t help but be attracted to his nanny whose personality is as beautiful as her looks. Abby is a breath of fresh air and sunshine all wrapped into one pretty package. I LOVED SIMON. I LOVED ABBY. I wanted a love connection between these two beautiful people.
“Insta-lust. It’s morphed into a lot more than lust in all this time she’s spent in my home, with my family, with my kid. Admiration. Fondness. The real deal.”
Temptation is tough. So tough that temptation turns into a kiss, a scorching and sweet kiss, a kiss that can’t become more.
“I slant my mouth to hers. Our lips touch, and it’s like a world that was ordinary has now turned extraordinary…My entire body is alive…I’m lost in a kiss I barely saw coming, one I’m powerless to stop.”
Abby is affected by that kiss, the one that rocked her world, just like Simon.
“This man isn’t just turning me on. He’s turning me into a woman who wants only to be taken.”
The passion poured from the pages as the chemistry crashed down on this couple. Simon is smitten. Though a relationship with his little girl’s nanny, his employee, is out. Forbidden.
“I might have stepped over a line yesterday, but that doesn’t give me permission to do it again. That’s the thing about lines. We make them, we break them, and we keep them. This is a line I need to maintain.”
The Sexy One is a tender friends-to-lovers tale that touched me HARD. I was quickly captivated and claimed. The Sexy One has THE CLICK—that connection to the characters and everything about the story from inside out—where I could not help but fall fast and furiously in INSTA-LOVE.
What I LOVE about Lauren Blakely’s books is that they aren’t just sets of series; they are family that are so perfectly and lovingly linked that they feel familiar. Reading each story with subtle ties to previous tales feels like coming home to characters who have carved out a piece of my heart. Characters who feel close. Characters who I love like family. Characters who feel like more.
Not the usual fire-hot and funny Lauren Blakely book that I’ve come to love in these last few interwoven series, The Sexy One is sweetness and smolder and MORE. SO MUCH MORE. So spellbinding. So swoon-filled. So sugary good. The Sexy One is a slow burn, a story that seduced me slowly and sensually in THE BEST WAY.
The perfect recipe for romance, this story is sheer brilliance from beginning to end. A breath of fresh air. The Sexy One is a ride to ROMANCE HEAVEN. I can't help but ache for more of this blissful book as I’m not quite done swooning.

Steamy Reads Blog“...may be it is a cliché for a single dad to fall for the nanny. But fuck, it sure as hell isn't a crime.”
➦Hot single dad, anyone?
➦Simon is a single, sexy and caring man who just happens to have the hots for his daughter's babysitter. The problem is that she's too good of a babysitter and those aren't easy to find in Manhattan.
➦Abby loves working for Simon but, even though she is secretly salivating over him, she cannot risk her job and get mixed up with her boss. Or can she?
❤This book has everything I love in Lauren Blakely's romances: a bit of a forbidden factor, anticipation of sexy things to come and crazy feels once the main characters collide. Hot and sweet at the same time, this novel definitely delivers a hero I can swoon over. :)
✘ I only wish this book were longer. It's a short read but I wanted more more more! I would have loved more character development, I WANT TO KNOW ALL OF SIMON'S SECRETS. lol
➦If you are looking for a short & sexy romance, give the Sexy One a try! A definite panty melter :)

The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely
Lauren has once again provided a panty melting, sinfully sexy book to read. This latest installment was fun to read with her unique style of mixing a little bit of the characters we have come to love from Well Hung, Mr. O and Big Rock (if you have not read….SHAME ON YOU).
We got to revisit the scene from Well Hung where Wyatt meets Simon at the restaurant for the quote for the kitchen remodel which gives up Simon’s perspective. Truly awesome to read that scenes from Simon’s perspective.
Simon and Abby are sweet together and yes it is cliché (nanny and sexy dad). There is of course the ex-wife which we learn is also a cliché (slept with coworker) but is pretty cool about this situation. Personally by the time I got the middle of the book I wanted to shake them both with a Gibb’s (NCIS) slap to the back of the head. They were obviously very attached to each other and had formed a relationship that was not build on sex and they bonded over eaglets. I laughed, cringed and got angry at this book but was so engrossed I read it in one sitting. Hayden is a delight to read about and she is so funny with her statements as this story moves forward.
To sum up my favorite part of this book and why this story works.
Quote from Abby:
“I like working with kids. It’s real. No falseness. No pretense. That and I’ve always been at home with wild dogs. Three brothers and all”
I highly recommend this book and for Lauren I would love to see a follow-up on all of these books to know how they get their HEA.
PLEASE READ!!! -
Simon is the man every woman dreams about. He is a fabulous father, totally dedicated to his daughter Hayden who is only five years old. He is physically gorgeous, a nice guy, and is an investment wizard. He is the FULL PACKAGE with all it entails!
This is a flight of fantasy of two people who fit so well together there is no other outcome but for them to end up together. How they get there is a story you have to read.
For those of you who are no longer in your twenties, you might recall the TV sitcom with Fran The Nanny. Abby is not as crazy as Fran, but she has the same endearing and independent nature that won our hearts. Her dedication to Hayden and the love she has for this child makes for passages in this book that will have you smiling and feeling warm inside.
Finally, this would not be a Lauren Blakely book without hot off the charts love scenes. Simon and Abby have waited for seven months to share their feelings. That is a lot of anticipation and nightly wet dreams! When they finally share their first kiss... you just have to read that scene. Keep a change of panties nearby. -
➳What a story to make you feel wanted and loved... cherished and cared for. Because those are all attributes that Lauren makes you feel when you read this story...
➳Okay, so for those of you who have been following my reviews since the very start of my reviewing "career," you are very well aware that my obsession for nanny and single father stories is over the roof! The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely has become one of those overall obsessions. To my eyes, this story was so sweet and endearing to read to say the least. Even though there were some attributes that were rather a throw off to my likings.
➳Simon is a restaurant businessman who is also a single father to a beautiful five year old girl named Hayden. What is rather fascinating and very unique is that he gets to manage his free time so he can spend a good amount of time with his daughter- not like any other businessman who rarely has the time to tuck his children to bed. Simon's nanny- Abby- has been working for him for the past seven months, and their attraction for each other is rather endearing and fascinating because of the connection they have for each other. What stops them from becoming something more, is the fact that Simon & Abby know what is at steak; Abby's job.➳“I know it might be weird if you work for my family if we’re together like this, but it’s not weird to me. I want you to be mine, Abby. Maybe I’m a greedy bastard, but can I have you in every way?”
➳Abby's fascination for languages is something that I can truly relate to, as well known by some of you that I am a language person myself- Italian, Spanish, Latin, and a bit of Filipino. While she goes and teaches Simon what he needs to know in the French department for his business, himself and Abby open up to each other more and more. Their first kiss is beyond passionate- you can definitely feel the firecrackers being popped and cracked all over the place when they first lock lips.
➳The only two things that I found rather disappointing were the sex scenes, and how fast the story line went. Sex with Simon seems to be quiet and admirable, which is something that does not follow my tastes (read my previous reviews to know what my tastes really are) and Abby connects with him that way, which I sort of mind. But hey! It's alright, this does not mean that they are terrible together because that is incorrect. But I found it rather... hmmm... I honestly don't know what word to describe it with, but I just found it rather annoying that the story felt like it was rushed, when reading about nannies and single fathers is sort of my thing, you know? But, overall I congratulate to Lauren because this was a beautiful, simple story that I do recommend to fans of Lauren's and also to fans of NA to read and hope they enjoy!

I am in love with this book! This latest gem from Lauren Blakely literally swept me off of my feet. It's a slow burn as we watch Simon and Abby lust for each other and it's the sweetest kind of foreplay.
The boss and his nanny. They shouldn't have feelings for each other. They shouldn't even entertain the idea but my goodness, the chemistry is so electric, there is absolutely no way they could resist.
The Sexy One is basically an old-fashioned romance set ablaze with the combination of sizzling heat and moments of tenderness so beautiful I couldn't help but smile throughout. There's no extraneous nonsense, no misunderstandings. It's simply Simon and Abby trying to wade through their feelings for each other and happily realize that taking that chance is worth every bump in the road.
As is per usual in a Lauren Blakely book, we get two extraordinarily 'normal' characters in Simon and Abby, each strong and mature people who don't play games or run when the going gets tough. There is plenty of angst to be had even when you know you are meant to be and that's what makes the author's books so engaging. Add to the formula great friends who both make you laugh and have your back, together with one precocious and adorable daughter in Hayden and you have one helluva great read.
You will adore this book. Truly to become one of my all-time favorites from this author.
5+ stars! -
Absolutely loved this story. It would've been so easy to make this go wrong at different times throughout the plot. The setup was there for it to go awry, but it stayed so solid. I was ecstatic at the lack of drama, lack of miscommunication, and foolishness that plagues so many stories. The characters had depth and complexity in their own right. Mature. At a stage in their lives where they are ready to accept the love offered by the other. The role of kids in a story can be touchy depending on the book but Abby seemed to fit right into the world that Simon created with his daughter. There was one scene where Abby made a mistake, but they were able to recover and Simon handled the issue of explaining to his daughter well. He was an awesome dad and a compliment to Abby and where she was in her life. Though it wasn't very long, I devoured every page and am looking forward to more. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing, though there is one problem scene with an ex, Simon takes control and resolves it quickly.

The Sexy One hit everything on my list! Romance, emotions, laughter, passion...and the swoon-worthy levels were unbelievable! I loved this book, and drank up every word like a dying man!
Simon and Abby are perfect! Not just for each other, but also on their own. Both are very sincere, altruistic and very down-to-earth characters. With as many differences Simon and Abby have, I loved reading how they transcended those differences and looked at the person inside for who they each truly are. And their chemistry alone can set off alarms!
Sparks flew from page one! It ignites a curiosity that only grows more throughout the story. Desire and longing drive the characters forward, until their hunger for each other can no longer be denied. The connections that were formed over months grow stronger. Friendship turns into love...a type of love that one could only ever dream for.
But with happiness and bliss comes reality. Obstacles and opinions begin to cloud judgement. Can their love for each other outweigh the concerns?...or will they become nothing more than a cultural cliche?
The Sexy One is passionate, inspiring, and emotional.
Each time I get a Lauren Blakely book in my hands, I devour it! But this time, this book consumed me. Every single word! The writing is absolutely phenominal! This book isn't just a must read, it's a to-die-for read!
5 Sensational Stars!

I feel like I say this every time I read a new Lauren Blakely book, but my goodness... this woman amazes me!
Simon and Abby's story is so swoonfully sweet! It grabs ahold of your heart, and refuses to let it go until the very end.
What's cliche to one person, may be real life to another. No matter how hard you try to fight your feelings, the heart wants, what the heart wants. This couldn't be any truer for Simon and Abby.
Abby is the Nanny of a beautiful little girl, Hayden. Simon is her father. What starts as an innocent employee/employer situation, slowly starts to grow into so much more... They both know that what they feel for each other is wrong. However, to them, it's never felt more right.
Is Abby willing to risk her job, for a chance with The Sexy One? Is Simon willing to risk loosing the best Nanny around, for one night with her?
Well, loves.... That's for you to find out -
5+ 'Eagle Cam Love' Stars!
Yeah. Just after a month of reading it, I just reread The Sexy One. Why? Well because I freaking loved it so much and since I did a kind of Lauren Blakely marathon this weekend this was the perfect way to end it!
As I said before, Lauren’s books are a masterpiece of male POV stories! And well, in this case, in this book we got dual POV which I absolutely love too! The Sexy One tells the story of Simon Travers and Abby Becker, also known as the hottest single dad on Earth and the nanny of the cutest girl ever.
“If you looked up ‘hot single dad’ in the dictionary, you’d find his picture.”
We met them in Mister O since Harper (the female protagonist) had a little crush on Simon (for a short time!) and Abby happens to be her best friend. I previously mentioned how much I am loving reading these books. Lauren is extremely talented and always delivers books full of banter, funny and sexy times!
“This is bad,” he says firmly, his breath coming heavily. But then, he’s not so certain at all. “Is this bad?”
“Yes,” I answer quickly. “It’s bad. But it’s so good.”
“God, it’s so good,” he rasps, then devours my lips again.
I want him to be looking at me, longing for me, falling for me.
Because I’m in so deep with him.
Besides that, what I enjoyed the most about The Sexy One is, OF COURSE, Simon. Simon, Simon, Simon.. As Abby says, the love he feels for his daughter makes him even hotter. And all their moments together are adorable! I love the family part in this book and I also loved the development of Simon and Abby’s love story. So beautiful and hot!
“I’m in love with you.” […]“I’ve been falling in love with you since the day we met,”
Simon doesn’t fill a void. He makes my life richer.
I can now say from the four books I have read on this standalone series, The Sexy One is my favorite. And I cannot wait for all the other upcoming releases! Therefore, I am rating this book with my especial 6 STARS because there wasn’t a single thing I did not love about this love story. So yeah, if you haven't read anything by this amazing woman, I strongly recommend you do, you will not regret it!

The Sexy One is a new standalone by Lauren Blakely. It's slightly ridiculous how giddy I get when Lauren announces a new book. And even more so when it's a character I fell in love with in a previous book. As always, the writing is impeccable, the characters real, the storyline meaningful and addicting. We met Simon in Mister O and I was almost cheering that Harper would choose him. Simon is a sexy single father with the cutest little girl, Hayden. He's smart, funny and delicious. Abby is Hayden's nanny. I know what you're thinking…that old taboo story about the dad and the nanny. No. Just no. This is not that story. Yes, she's the nanny, but he's not married and they are both adults. That's how they met, but those are the their labels. Simon has always been attracted to Abby, but never made a move on her. Abby couldn't help but have a crush on Simon. I mean, look at him. Plus, he's a wonderful father, a smart business man, and he makes her laugh. All of a sudden their relationship changes. Just a fraction at first. A little flirty banter. A brush of hands. They are both fighting it because they think it's wrong, but when Simon needs help learning French to close a business deal, he asks Abby to teach him. They don't call it the language of love for nothing! After a few lessons, a sort of date, the fire that's been smoldering ignites. In the sexiest 'in the back of a cab kiss' ever written. Their relationship isn't about sex. Yes, they want it. Yes, they need it. But they've been friends for months and it's been a slow boiling love for a long time. Can they get over the stigma of being boss and nanny? Will they take the leap to finally be something real? I love this couple! Simon...sigh. I just can't. He's perfect. Just perfect. Sexy, smart, loves his daughter, says all the right things at the right time, knows what he wants and goes after it. Abby is dedicated, smart, beautiful and knows what she wants out of life. I laughed, cried, fanned myself and swooned. I want more of this couple!
When handsomeness was handed out, Simon Travers landed more than a few extra helpings. The man snagged someone else’s share, too. And another’s and another’s.
“My sweet, sexy Abby. You know I can’t resist you.”
I can’t think of anyplace I’d rather be, or any conversation I’d rather have. This woman has burrowed her way into my heart, simply by being herself. I don’t honestly know if I can let her go. -
A swoon worthy single dad? Yes please! Simon is what drew me to this book and of course the forbidden romance with his nanny. The story was a mix of boss-employee relationship and DILF romance. I liked how Simon's relationship with Abbi played out and that it was sort of slow moving in the beginning but then picked up near the middle. We got to see them slowly explore each other before their chemistry exploded and I really enjoyed that it wasn't just an easy and only sexual relationship between them.
I did have some issues with the "sexting" and some of the dirty talk that happened throughout the book. It just seemed very awkward to me and too formal that it even started to make me feel awkward. But there were still plenty of hot times that made up for the awkwardness so I got over it. -
Falling in love with The Sexy One
What if I told you I found a hero that’s the whole package? Good looks and muscles (please note the book cover…or, like in my case, note again and again and again), smart and ambitious, sweet, thoughtful, an awesome Dad to his daughter…AND learns from his mistakes. Yes peoples, by the end of the book he got his priorities straight and put love first. Now, don’t go freaking and calling me bad names because I spoiled the surprise, I was actually talking about his daughter. His love, love life is yours for the taking. I would never, ever imply that a love story could possibly finish on a high with an HEA. Never, I tell you.
I could really finish the review here, to be honest. I found the other characters great and thought that Abby was perfect for Simon and Hayden, the sweetest little girl ever. But really, Simon is the star of the show. Well, in my eyes he was.
I found this story somewhat refreshing. Simon is a thirty-something guy, divorced and has primary custody of his 5-year-old daughter, Hayden. His life revolves around his little girl's happiness. Yes, his work does take up a lot of his time, but he manages to still make Hayden his priority. To do this effectively, he hires a nanny for the times he really has to go to business meetings. Through a mutual friend, Harper, he manages to get an awesome nanny in Abby. Even though Abby is awesome, there is one slight problem. Simon is completely in lust with his nanny. A wee bit cliché, unfortunately.
Abby is the nanny and she absolutely LOVES her job. It helps that Hayden is a sweetheart and her boss is a good man…who has the body of Chris Hemsworth. Now, Abby kind of has a crush on her boss. It’s totally understandable considering his looks and personality, but she LOVES her job and doesn’t want to jeopardise it. She pushes back her feelings because she doesn’t want to be a wee bit of a cliché.
As times goes on their feelings grow for each other. It’s not just lust anymore, now they have to deal with FEELINGS too. They like each other. Their personalities seem to suit and they never struggle with finding something to talk about. How long can they keep fighting their attraction?
The Sexy One was a great story. It’s a little bit of a slow burn but the tension starts from the very beginning. Simon and Abby are not silly people…well not normally. Abby does have one brain malfunction but luckily, Lauren Blakely again proved why I like her stories so much. The silly situation is dealt with, with maturity, truth and no unnecessary drama. Bravo!!
Did I mention that Simon also speaks my favourite language - Dirty Talk. It is not crass or OTT but it did make me sit up and take notice.
Talking of languages…I am very jealous of Abby’s characters ability to learn languages so easily. I speak English and I can count to ten in Japanese. WOW!! I think my kids know more than I do. What a shame out?
Anyways…I really did enjoy The Sexy One. Simon and Abby’s love story gave me happy buzzes and big goofy smiles.
At the end of the book, we get a glimpse into what’s coming our way and I can definitely say that I squealed just a wee bit. Hot Doc’s, Hot Chef’s and THE HOT ONE who’s determined to win back his ex even if he has to fight for her. BRING IT ON!!

Lauren Blakely is one of my few one-click authors. Her books have strong, lovable characters, the touch of humor that will make you literally laugh out loud, and heat that can make you burn all over. Obviously, The Sexy One did not disappoint. If you want a light, fun, and sexy read, The Sexy One will give you that and so much more.
If you looked up ‘hot single dad’ in the dictionary, you’d find his picture.”
Simon Travers is a thirty four-year old businessman and dad who knows what he's doing. He adores his daughter Hayden and is a great father to her. It also helps that he's hot as hell. A kind, funny, good-looking single dad who is obviously devoted to his daughter? Goodbye, ovaries. It was nice knowing you.
As talented as Simon is, he can't balance life and work, so in comes the perfect nanny, the beautiful, multilingual child-whisperer, Abby Becker. At twenty six, she's already fluent in four languages and learning a fifth. She's also kind, funny, and amazing with Hayden, so I'd say it's a match made in heaven.
When two single attractive people work in close contact for almost seven months, things are bound to happen... especially if said people are attracted to each other. But as much as Simon and Abby crave for each other, they have to resist temptation. Simon needs Abby as Hayden's nanny, and Abby needs the money to survive in New York.
I love The Sexy One! It was sweet, sexy, funny, and romantic. Like Big Rock, Mister O, and Well Hung, the story is light and filled with the perfect balance of humor, romance, and sex. However, I'm going to have to say that between the recent standalones, The Sexy One is my favorite.
First off, Simon. I have a weakness for hot single dads. Especially ones who adore their child. Simon is the epitome of the hot single dad. I love how involved he is with Hayden's life and how much he knows about taking care of his daughter. He's also this genuinely nice person who is respectful yet knows how to talk dirty when he has to. HOT.
Second, Abby. Like Lauren's other female leads, Abby is assertive, career-oriented, and still so loving and kind. She's honest to a fault but not cruel about it, and she gets Simon.
These two understand each other and care for each other, and I love that their attraction goes beyond physical. They don't pine each other because of just sex; before taking that risk, they've enjoyed each other's company when they're alone. They care for each other's growth and life, and it gave me so much life when I read the give-and-take between these two.Simon doesn't fill a void. He makes my life richer."
I only wish it were longer. I guess I just wanted to see Simon and Abby seven months before. And maybe I wanted to see more of Simon and Hayden. Because seriously. A hot responsible dad taking care and playing with his child? I can hear all the hearts melting and the panties falling off. lol.
If you're looking for a short, funny, sweet and sexy forbidden love, then you might enjoy The Sexy One!

“He's the prize in the available dad sweepstakes.”
I have come to rely on
Lauren Blakely to provide the best rom-com books.
The Sexy One is no exception. Yes, the story was a bit of a cliché; yes, the romantic development may have happened a little too fast; and yes, there was cheese along the way. But, did I enjoy myself? Absolutely!
Abby Becker has been working for the hot, single dad Simon Travers for months as a nanny to his five-year-old daughter. She totally adores her job because it does not only support her studies and pays the bills but Simon's daughter is a total sweetheart and Simon is... well, the sexiest dad in the world. And she's been crushing on him. She's not aware that Simon is also lusting over her, though and the feeling is mutual. But would they let their attraction to each other move forward when they think to have a relationship while Abby's working as a nanny would sound so right and so wrong at the same time?
I loved that both characters are likable here. Both are well-developed and mature and responsible enough. Plus, there was no drama and unnecessary complications. Simon's ex-wife wasn't even a pain in the ass to Simon and Abby's relationship although she acted like a bitch to Abby.
This was just a light read and you could finish it in one sitting. And because it is laced with humor, you would definitely find yourself laughing out loud at some hilarious scenes. And oh, who wouldn't want some smexy love scenes thrown in the corners? I highly recommend this book to every romance fan who wants to read something light, easy, and sexy. :)

This novel was educational, hilarious, sweet and sexy!
Did you know that bald eagles and dolphins sleep with one eye open?
Yeah, I didn't either... until this book. See... no one can say that you don't learn anything reading romance novels.
Simon was a single father with the majority custody of his sweet five year old daughter, and Abby was his nanny. They had this insane chemistry that they fought for months, until.... the baby bald eagles were born and they started texting about them with each other. Once the lines became blurred there was no going back.
I loved these two together, they were sweet and nerdy and adorable. The way they treated his daughter like she was the center of both of their worlds was charming.
If you need a sweet book, with a hot single dad, you need to pick this one up. -
4-4.5 stars
"But that would be a lie.
This isn't unrequited. It's two-way, hot and electric."
The Sexy One was another fun, sexy and super sweet story from Lauren Blakely. This author doesn't stop surprising me with her books! I loved her writing and her stories are refreshing.
"Just like that,I imagine her in bed.Yeah, it's not first time. It's not the hundredth, either.
I've pictured this countless f@cking times, but it's a fantastic image."
There were many things I loved in this story and one of them was Simon. This sweet, funny, charming, hot and smart dad is going to make you swoon and melt for him! Abby was perfect for him, she was funny and sweet. You can imagine with so much sweetness how perfect these two how can be.
I simply adored them! I'm excited for the next book by Lauren!
