Review by Lisa Kane
Little Olivia Sawyer is all grown up and at college. Her dad Ryan and her two uncles Jackson and Noah have bent her ear with advice about college boys and all their evil intentions. Her dad loves her to pieces, but he can be a little too protective. Olivia doesn't really need advice; she has a good head on her shoulders and is wise to the hormonally charged guys around her. In fact, when she's in the middle of turning down one of her school's biggest players that she catches the eye of Keeton Pearce. He can't but help to be captivated by this sassy, gorgeous vixen.
My choice in colleges had a lot to do with the distance it put between me and my father. I loved the man truly but I wanted some freedom from his hovering.
Keeton has had a rough life. His dad is a violent alcoholic, and his brother is following along in his daddy's footsteps. His mom took off years ago when she'd had enough. It's a shame she didn't think what torture the son she left behind would suffer. Keeton is smart, he's mechanically inclined but is also a tech geek. He busted his butt to get a full scholarship to college and he works two jobs to pay for his apartment. The more distance between him and his family the better. Although his father still comes around to harass him and demand money. Keeton is a loner, he just concentrates on getting good grades and leaving the trailer park he grew up in way behind his rear view mirror. But he is about to leave his loner days behind for Olivia Sawyer.
I had a feeling Olivia was about to take me for one hell of a ride. And nothing about that terrified me; I couldn't wait to get started.
Olivia's Ride is a sweet, slightly angsty romance. Breaking down the walls that protect Keeton's heart is a mission that Olivia is more than happy to undertake. Now getting her family to stop putting Keeton through hoops for their approval won't be easy, but earning their respect will be worth it. Is Keeton up for that challenge? Will he ever be able to put his father and brother in his past and move on? Will they let him go? Besides his family drama, Keeton has a fiery neighbor, Lacy who would just love to get her hooks into him. She's quite the pot stirrer and will try to give Olivia a run for her money. Will Olivia cut and run or lay claim to her man?
Just like the previous books in the Sawyer Brothers series, all of the characters from those stories are in this one. Being as this is book 4, they are old familiar friends whose own lives are now full of love and family. Trinity's story is next and sounds like it's going to be delish!
"You are so deep in my soul that I sometimes feel you are a part of me, like I can't breathe without you near. And I love that feeling." -
I don't really care to read about how him and the ex fuck buddy are still friends I really hate that and how she has a key to his apartment it doesn't matter that she walks his dog but when she was talking to the h about how he got beat up by his drunk father she was being catty to the h. So fuck yeah I DNFed fast. -
OLIVIA'S RIDE - A RIDE YOU DEFINETLY WANT TO TAKE!
Olivia is sassy, independent, stubborn and compassionate which makes her perfect for Keeton.
Keeton has never known the love of a family. His mother left him when he was young with an alcoholic father and brother that hated him because he chose to better himself.
Then he meets Olivia's family. Loving and protective...and well if you read the the other books in this series you will understand how intimidating the Sawyer men can be ;) I love the roles that Ryan, Jackson and Noah play in this book. And Bailey....gotta love her!
I love the way C.A. Harms was able to take (child) Olivia from the other books and make us see her as a grown woman. The journey for Keeton and Olivia had me ready to kick some butt, laugh and cry! I'm sure you will love this book as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the the first three books in the Sawyer Brothers series where you get to know the Sawyer family and a young Olivia. -

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, lies, pain, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Ryan's Love (Sawyer Brothers #1)
Jackson's Destiny (Sawyer Brothers #2)
Noah's Journey (Sawyer Brothers #3)
This is Olivia and Keeton’s story. Olivia is off at college where she meets Keeton. He is unlike the other men at her school. He is polite and treats her like a princess. But her family is very protective. Can Keeton handle her family? Olivia wants to be with Keeton but what happens when he knows all about her but she knows nothing about him? One person is interfering but will it keep them apart? Or will it bring them closer together? Will Keeton be able to take on all her over protective family or will it make him run? Can these two have a future if the secrets are not shared? Can Olivia’s family trust that Keeton will take care of Olivia or will they make sure they run him off?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author. -
4.5 sassy Sawyer stars
After being wooed by each Sawyer brother I honestly wondered how CA was going to continue this series and maintain the love I have for them all. Well this time, she brought us Olivia's story, Ryan's daughter and oh my goodness it was SO GOOD!!
Olivia is so sassy, so strong. Her overall presence in this book makes it a fun read that I easily devoured. Keeton had A LOT to live up to. After Ryan, Jackson & Noah, Keeton had to be something special. And he was! I loved him. He's a perfect balance of dirty and sweet. Dominant and caring..He didn't manage to break the love I have for Jackson but he definitely came close.
Olivia's Ride is a continuation on from the previous, three books but can stand alone. Personally I URGE you to read each book because they are just. That. GOOD! Having glimpses of past characters show up in this book was great and really added to my love for the story.
It's a quick, sexy read that will have you fist bumping Olivia, swooning AND drooling over Keeton and leave you head over heels in love for the Sawyer's once again! Now, where is Trinity's book.........? -

This was my favorite book in the Sawyer Brothers series. At first I wasn't sure how i was going to feel reading about Ryan’s daughter, but it was the best one so far. I loved the way Olivia handles her overbearing dad and uncles. Olivia has turned into a well adjusted young lady despite losing her mother at a young age.
Olivia has chosen to go away to college in texas to try to get some freedom from her family. She is growing as an individual and putting all the lessons she has learned over the years to great use. She doesn't fall for the wrong kind of guys. She sees right past all their bs.
Keeton is trying to break the cycle of his own family. He was brought up by an abusive, alcoholic father. His own mother walked away from her family to try to get away from all the abuse. So Keetion is all alone working his way thru school.
My heart really went out for Keeton. He was such a sweet boy and you would never believe he had such evil people in his life. He truly deserves Olivia’s love. I could go on and on about the Sawyer family but I think it's best to experience them first hand. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I did.

Olivia's Ride is the fourth book in the Sawyer Brothers series, it can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading this series in order.
First I have to mention the cover. I'm not one usually sucked in by a cover, and yes I'm addicted to this series but had I not read anything else in this series, this cover would have sold me. It has to be one of my all time favorite covers. I just love how tall Keeton is and it makes for one amazing cover.
On to their story.
Keeton and Olivia attend the same college, her overprotective family finally let her out of their sight to attend college but she's still not completely out from under their watchful eyes!
Her roommate is a complete skank, cares about nothing and no one but herself making dorm life miserable for Oliva.
Then she meets Keeton.
Something about him draws her in a way she hasn't been before.
Keeton is working his tail off to finish school. His family is the complete opposite of Olivia's. He comes with some baggage but is dead set on making a life for himself, not turning out like his father and brother.
Oliva makes him feel, giving him something he's never had before, unconditional love.
As much as he loves her and what they have together he can't bring himself to tell her about his family, until someone lets the cat out of the bag and due to a lie on Keeton's part, it could be the end for them.
As always CA Harms does an excellent job of weaving a tale around some pretty awesome characters. I adore this series and can't wait to see what's next for the Sawyer family. -
5 Stars!
I adore C.A. Harms. Everything she has written to date has been brilliant. She has mastered the art of writing. When you read her books, you can expect laughs, love, feels, passion, and exquisite writing. One again, she gave us another hit in this series.
Olivia's Ride was everything I thought it would be and definitely so much more. Full of steam, emotions, and passion, we watch Olivia and Keeton find their happy ending. Get ready to laugh, smile, swoon, tear up, and fall in love all over again.
We watched her dad's and uncles fall in love. We watched her grow from a teen to a young woman. Now, Olivia is here to tell her story and find her own happy ending. She is going to fall hard and fast, just like the others. It won't be easy but worth every moment.
I highly recommend this book.

CA Harms is one of my very favorite Authors,.
Everything I read one of her books I am amazed. Olivia's ride was fantastic. No longer a little girl Olivia Sawyer is now in college. Texas A & M. She loves college and she loves her independence.
What I love is that Olivia is all spit and vinegar, she has a take no bull crap attitude. That attitude really works in her favor UNTIL she meets Keeton. He is in my humble option her perfect match.
I cried. I laughed and I loved everything about this book -
I loved Keeton, he was so sweet and caring and I just loved his behavior when he was with Liv, “if I go in there and face the firing squad,” Keeton cooed in my ear. “You have to promise to soothe me later.” I couldn't love Keeton enough, “have I told you lately just how much I love having you here?” he asked as he continued to move against me. “Walking around in these tiny little shorts and tight shirts.”
-
Might have taken me a bit to get this story finished not because it was bad in fact it was great, this was all me, I get ahead of myself and try and read as many books as I can at once and some just get left. I should have never put this story down I really should have just kept going it was great, amazing and wonderful. I loved the slow pace of the love story unfolding right before my eyes. I love how it had all the characters from the other stories and more. The outcome of the story blew my mind away after reaching the middle of the story and how that was turning out had my insides all twisted and in pain like Liv was but then it changed on the story was back on track with Keeton. I loved that man sweet, caring and everything anyone would want in a man. Liv's fiery attitude and the way she could hold her own with anyone made her even more stronger then anything in the world. There journey took them on a ride that's for sure with emotions all over and a love so strong a knife couldn't cut it. This is one story that is worth reading over and over again. The whole series is that way. MUST READ!!! One page at a time really keeps you turning them.

The little girl we fell in love with for her sassy attitude and the love she had for her family in Ryan's Love has grown up. Being in college has had it's ups and downs but Olivia has made the time away from her family her own. When she knocks into Keeton on campus it is love at first site. But will the family dynamics of a overbearing dad and two protective uncles be too much for Keeton to bear? Or will the hope of a true family be just what he needs to stake his claim? I loved being able to see the entire Sawyer Clan years down the road. With all the marriages and babies being born it really gives the reader a sense of the family connections. Adding Keeton into the mix had me at times laughing out loud and at others sighing with happiness. The perfect ending to Olivia's story.
-
For me so far this was the best one in the series. Overall the author keeps the drama to a minimum. And when it does happen it's dealt with quickly and adult like. Each book is quick read. Surprisingly I like the series.

I thought keeton was amazing throughout this book. Loved it so much

This is the latest from an author that never ceases to amaze me, CA Harms has always given us stories with strong characters, he men leave nothing behind when it comes to loving and protecting their women and families but with this story, she brings us full circle because this is Ryan’s daughter Olivia’s moment in the spotlight and much like her fabulous father she doesn’t disappoint.
Olivia doesn’t suffer fools gladly, she is as independent as they come, except of course where her family is concerned, so when the opportunity arrives and she has the chance to finally stand tall, she heads off to college and away from the immediate protection of her family. Now some might say that the sort of family she has is the sort that any kid would be proud of but Olivia needs to kick back a bit, experience the world for herself and to call it like it is, after all she is Ryan’s daughter she is more than capable of standing her own ground.
So when she gets propositioned by the one guy in college that she wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. She has no problem putting him firmly in his place and that is in the …not a chance in h**l pile!
I liked Olivia, he had an old head on a young body so to speak, she was grounded and that was a lovely trait about her and I wasn’t the only person to have that opinion. Because watching her slap a brother down was Keeton and he found this feisty filly completely enthralling.
Olivia was like no-one he had ever met before, her genuine attitude and no nonsense demeanour spoke to him, he had to get to know her a little better but would she want to know him?
I wasn’t sure how it would go but there was something about Keeton’s character that had my fingers crossed for him. Much like Olivia, college had been an escape for Keeton but for entirely the opposite reasons, Olivia was loved unconditionally at home and needed to spread her wings, Keeton was had a father that was nothing short of reprehensible and a brother that he couldn’t wait to get away from. Life was everything he never wanted it to be and getting away and into college gave him the chance to breathe.
But would Keeton survive Olivia, would she be able to curb her sass and give the guy a chance?
I really hoped so because they had what I thought was the perfect combination, they almost balanced each other out so to speak, because for all the crap that Keeton had going on at home, he had yet to have the pleasure of meeting Ryan, Noah and Jackson and they were more than ready to put him through his paces…poor soul! But I admired the fact that no matter what they threw at him he knuckled down and got on with it, he was a grower so to speak and by the end of the book I was chief cheerleader – the guy was epic!
I thought that the author gave the two of them the best of both worlds, she showed that a daddy’s little girl will always be a daddy’s little girl but that doesn’t mean that she has to be precious. Olivia was a thoroughly modern miss, she was perfectly well prepared by a family that doted on her to handle everything that the world threw at her and survive but she also knew that she would never ever be completely alone, their love for her was not only non-negotiable but completely unconditional. Keeton didn’t have that type of family behind him but he had it in him, he was an all-in type of guy, just the sort that a protective father was going to take to heart and be able to trust with his little girl.
A fantastic read, one that shows this author at her best. -
ERIN'S REVIEW

OMG!!! I love this series! The Sawyer Brothers are at it again! I knew that with Olivia’s history, the storyline had to be incredible. Keeton is everything I had hoped for. Olivia is a take-no-sh*t kind of girl. I love her personality. She tells it like it is and is not afraid to stand up for herself. Or tattle, if necessary (lol). My god, this girl rocks! Keeton is amazing. He has a horrible family and he has battled to be better. The connection they have is phenomenal. Of course, they have amazing chemistry as well. But this story is about more than that. It is about finding that love of a lifetime. That ONE. This story also has a lot of humor as well. But when you are talking about the Sawyer brothers, Amber, Bailey, and Olivia, I expect that. I love the way this family is always there for each other, but also hilarious at the same time. I am so ready for the next book. And maybe a spin-off series. The Sawyers have to have some cousins somewhere, right?
LEEANN'S REVIEW
4 STARS
If you have read any of the Sawyer Brothers series, you will know who Olivia is. She is the eldest daughter of Ryan.
She is also the eldest niece of Jackson & Noah… She is their princess & heaven help any man who thinks he can waltz right into her life without
some sort of grief from her father & uncles!!
Keeton has had a crap life. His father is a drunk & so is his brother. They have bullied him, abused him & belittled him his whole life.
Now he has met Olivia & her family & he finally feels loved, accepted & part of something he has never had before.
This young couple are so full of promise & hope for a brilliant future. They each bring so much love and respect to their relationship and perfectly
balance each other out. There is nothing they can’t do together.
Olivia is a strong woman who knows what she wants & accepts no less. There are some moments, particularly when she tries to put her dad & uncles in their
places that are laugh out loud funny! She has an amazing ability to make people feel at ease but she wears her emotions on her face. There is no hiding what she is feeling.
Even though Keeton has had a shocking upbringing he has grown into an amazing young man who loves with everything he has. He will do anything in the world to make his girl
happy & he understands where her over protective family are coming from.
Throughout the course of the story you see a young man who discovers that not only is he worthy and deserving of love, but that he can also give love freely without fear of
rejection or humiliation.
As with all of the books in this series, this story is about an all-consuming love and romance. It is about kindness, loyalty & family & about knowing no matter what there is always someone who has got your back.
When you have a family like the Sawyers, you are never alone in the world.
It will help you understand the background if you read the 1st 3 books in this series but this book can be read as a standalone too & it will still make sense.
Great all round read!! -
Josie's Review 4.5 STARS
CA Harms has done it again! Olivia’s Ride is a sweet read that has family drama and a bit of angst. I fell in love with the Sawyer brothers and I was anxious to see how this author would handle Olivia Sawyer all grown up. Olivia is Ryan Sawyer’s daughter and HOLY MOLY this book did not disappoint. It was just as good as her father and uncle’s stories.
Olivia Sawyer is no longer the 12 year old girl we first met in Ryan’s love. Nope Olivia is now in College living on her own. She is a strong, independent and loving character. Being surrounded by the love of her father and uncles has made her confident and sheltered. Olivia does not have it easy by any means, hello we are talking the Sawyer men in her life. No one is good enough for their little Olivia. Even from afar they still tend to control her life and all the men that enter it. Olivia is really a good girl, she is smart and focused and does not act like all the hormone ridden girls in college. She does not date often and is very selective of who she dates. That changes when she bumps into Keeton Pearce.
Keeton has not lead a good life and does not believe in the complications of relationships. My heart broke for Keaton and what he’s been through. His father and brother are abusive and alcoholics. Keaton wants a different life than the one he grew up knowing. He does not come from money so in order to get into college he worked hard to get good grades a scholarship. He struggles working 2 jobs to make ends meet, but he is also a savvy technician and mechanic. Keeton keeps to himself and is content with one night stands. Everything changes when he meets the savvy, feisty and beautiful Olivia.
Olivia and Keaton’s dynamics was so interesting to read. Their relationship was so easy and comforting. Olivia sees the man Keaton truly is but she also sees the walls and pain he hides from her. Getting Keaton to love her and open up to her is all she wants. Keaton has never known a family like Olivia’s, one that is filled with love and happiness.
I absolutely loved Keaton. He knew Olivia was different than any girl he has ever known. Instead of rushing things and heading straight for sex, Keaton took his time showing Olivia just how special she was to him. I adored how this author handled and address the abuse Keaton deals with from his family. C.A. Harms did not hide the ugly results of the abuse and she also showed how with support, love and determination a person can break the cycle. Keaton and Olivia have their work cut out for them, but not even Olivia’s crazy overprotective father’s meddling can stand in the way of their happiness. You have got to pick this book up. C.A. Harms has done an amazing job in continuing the Sawyer family legacy. -
Ryan's daughter... the one crying in book one of this series while Ryan fought hard to keep his late wife's memory alive and battled with the fact he was falling with Amber? Ryan's daughter, the one who looks at Amber as a gift from her late mother?
Yeah, that one.
Olivia.
She's all grown up and at college, and is full of Sawyer sass -- until one man comes up to her and her sassy words are taken from her.
Olivia and Keeton were So. Freaking. Fun.
I absolutely loved their story. The drama of Keeton's life never overpowered the story; it helped the reader understand the lengths he would go to, to become a better person. He was so incredibly sweet but never once did he come across as cocky or as a man with a bunch of one-liners.
Add to that, we get a full dose of those Sawyer men. My goodness gracious, I have loved them from book one, but Ryan, Jackson, and Noah here, as married men with families and watching as little Olivia has now grown up? So much fun.
Olivia doesn't take crap from the men in her life, though, oh no. They taught her better than that. So when she has a conversation with them further on in the book, I was tearing up because I was so darn proud of her. I mean, I cried a few times in this book because of the emotion and the feels, but that one scene was hugely defining for me where Olivia was concerned.
I could literally go on and on about Olivia and Keeton. I loved watching as he fought for Olivia -- he has some growing pains, sure, but knowing he wants nothing less than Olivia and the love of family she has...
Hands down my favorite of the series. I loved the men, yes, but I wasn't prepared for the depth of feels I would have for sassy, spunky Olivia and the man who would steal her attention.
I'm pretty excited about the next book, too. Trinity is still a bit of a mystery to us; we met her a bit ago and we know just a bit of her story, but I'm excited to watch her completely come apart and bare it all. That and her counterpart is said to be sexy ;) Always well worth it then, yes?

When the school playboy jock hits on Olivia and tries to get her to go out with him over break, what happens? She's 20 and in college now. After her reply to him, she turns to head off in the opposite direction of where he goes. She is stopped suddenly by a brick wall in front of her. Well, not really a brick wall, but yeah... who is it and what does he say to her? Who is this Keeton boy? What does Olivia say to him in response to his verbal hi-five? When she goes home to Livingston for the break, she gets to see her family. After a couple of weeks of dating Keeton, her two girl friends start asking her what's been going on for her. They start to wonder about Keeton when she gets a text from him, then she sees him walking towards her. The girls then understand the change in Olivia. They have their bumps in the road, they have some highs and lows. When Olivia takes him home with her to Livingston for the summer between school years, things get really interesting. It was fun watching Olivia call in Amber and how afraid her father Ryan is of Amber when he steps over the line when it comes to Olivia. The other brothers are the same way with their wives. It truly is fun to watch, and when Olivia takes the three of them into the kitchen and dresses them down, laying it all out on the line, I cheered for her. You're going to have to read this book. It truly was inspiring to read and I look forward to Trinity's coming book. This has been an incredible series to read. Makes me wish I was in a family like that. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but what this Sawyer Family has is just inspiring.

Our sweet little Olivia is all grown up !! Anyone that has read the series knows the amount of pain and struggle Olivia and her family have been through. It may seem like all smiles and happy sailing now but it took awhile to get there. Olivia lost her mother when she was young and her father struggled so much. Thanks to her supportive grandparents , uncles and Amber their lives became fulfilled again and we have enjoyed many stories due to that.
With Olivia off to college and Ryan being the father of a grown adult daughter we get to sit back and watch a bit of a funny struggle between the family !! The 3 brothers are still so funny and full of that sexy charming southern boy we love yet they will still bring down pain on anyone that messes with their little Olivia !! Keeton isn't like the other guys at college, he is sweet , charming and he doesn't seem to be after just one thing. Their meeting was fate , their interaction was sweet and I enjoyed reading about them as they grew into more. It was funny to see Keeton stumble through all the tests and be man enough to stand by his girl despite her crazy family. Sadly for Keeton this sense of family , this love and craziness was something he never had. He has a past that won't let him go and at times it does come to haunt him. Not only him but now his relationship with Olivia. His story is heartbreaking and thankfully due to the time he spends with a real family he is able to finally stand up and be the man he wants and fight off his demons.
I always enjoy the sweet romantic stories from this author. I can never get enough. There is always a bit of angst , the drama and of course the heat is top notch !! -
For those of you who have not yet read any of the Sawyer Brothers stories, Olivia is Ryans daughter by his first wife Claire. She is now grown and off to Texas in College. One day she stands up to the jock that makes his rounds among all the girls and runs into Keeton...Literally and one look into his gorgeous eyes she loses her spunk and gets tongue tied. Keeton is completely smitten as well and meets her one day when he is walking his dog and they go out. Keeton worries that they are too different when he hears all about her tightknit family and especially her over-protective father and uncles. Is he in for the long ride or will meeting the Sawyer clan make him ride off into the sunset?
I really liked this story a lot. It is a little different than the other three books, being New Adult although it is sexy it isn't as explicit as the others and there isn't any tragedy or a lot of angst.
I personally would have liked a bit more conflict, and the story suddenly ended then jumped two and a half years ahead in the epilog, but I still enjoyed the sweet, sexy story.
If you like spunky strong leading ladies, loyal, hot, college men, cowboys, new adult romance, and spicy love stories this is for you.
This is book four in the series and I do think it needs to be read in order. If you are looking for a great contemporary western or cowboy series this is definitely for you! I can't wait to read trinity's story next.

OLIVIA'S RIDE IS MY FAVORITE INSTALLMENT IN THE SERIES!! OMG -- KEETON. My heart HURT for him and SWOONED. Olivia was sassy and I loved how she put the Sawyer men in their place LOL! It was so fun reading about Ryan, Jackson, and Noah (books 1-3), but seeing them under a WAY DIFFERENT light. They were still very much the alpha males I swooned over while reading their books, but NOW? Now, they were very protective in a paternal kind of way and it was GREAT seeing them like that!! Also, if you've read ANY of Ms. Harms' other books, I must say - her sex scenes only get hotter by the book! *fans self* This book is without a doubt a FIVE-STAR book for me and one I HIGHLY recommend for you all!

Loved this!! Olivia all grown up and finding love of her own. She's always had the love of a big family to cushion her way but now she's spreading her wings and learning to deal with things on her own while away at college. Then she meets Keeton Pearce and her whole world is changed. Will Keeton stick around and make it through meeting the Sawyer family??
This is a great read. I would definitely recommend it. And while you can easily read this standalone, you appreciated it more if you've read the series. -
Love the Sawyer Clan.
I truly enjoyed all three of the Sawyer Brothers books. Was happy to see that Olivia got a book also. I fell in love with all the characters in this series. The author pulls you in with them and makes you fell like you are one with them. Highly recommend this whole series. -
Loved it !!

Great companion to rest of series but liked previous books better.

Really good. Love this family and the series.
Wondered why Austin did not make an appearance.
They meet:
“Sorry about that, sweetheart.” A deep southern drawl ran over me like honey. “I was damn impressed with the way you handled that arrogant a-hole. I didn’t get a chance to move out of your way before you came barreling through.”
When my eyes met his, I swore my knees were going to give out. He was without a doubt one of the most gorgeous men I had ever met. “Sorry,” I whispered, because I had nothing else to offer. My tongue felt like it was three sizes bigger than normal.
“No need to apologize. I was the one in your way. It’s not every day you see a pretty girl put a guy like Landon Murphy in his place. If you don’t mind me saying, it was pretty damn impressive.” His smile was perfect.
And the Sawyer clan is as overprotective of Oliva as ever:
“Do I need to visit A&M and kick some little shit’s ass?” he asked, causing me to laugh.
“No, Dad,” I replied. “It’s nothing like that.”
“Then what is it?” he asked, and I knew there was no way around it. He was a very stubborn man. He wouldn’t stop hassling me until I came out with it.
“I made a fool of myself and the guy called me cute.” I couldn’t help but smile when he gripped the steering wheel so tight his knuckles turned white. “My hell, between you and Amber. The both of you are ready to throw down instantly. You do realize I am twenty, and I don’t need you all ready to beat ass at every turn.”
“I don’t give a shit if you’re twenty or forty, I’m still gonna be ready to handle it.”
Poor Keeton has the family from HELL. Mom left the abuse but also left her kids to suffer. Dad and brother are vicious, mean, worthless drunks. Meeting Oliva is gonna change his life!
I hadn’t been able to get Olivia Sawyer out of my head. That feeling I got when I watched her sass Landon Murphy was something I hadn’t felt too often. There she stood, all reserved and unimpressed, as the campus jock-off attempted to woo her. It was something that didn’t happen to him very often. But the moment I talked to her, she froze. It was cutest damn thing. It was like pulling teeth to get her to tell me her name. The thing was I already knew her name, but that was all I knew. I was the guy who sat in the back of the class. Most people looked at me like I was some kind of trouble. What they didn’t take the time to find out was that academically, I was at the top of my class. There was no reason for me to waste time trying to impress those who felt they were above me. I would be someone someday, and I didn’t need any of them to help me get there. But having Olivia around might make things a little less lonely. She was like a breath of fresh air on a cool morning, that clean feeling just after it rained. She was so pure you could feel it, and that was something I had not often been around.
She was so beautiful. Almost painfully so, as my stomach seemed to ache whenever I looked at her long enough.
Olivia may be sweet, but she also has that Sawyer backbone and sass!
“Ya know what? I don’t know why you’re being an ass, but I can assure you I don’t appreciate your attitude toward me. So do me a favor—don’t call me tomorrow unless the stick you have up your ass has found a new place to rest.” I didn’t give him a chance to speak before I hung up, then decided I didn’t want him calling later when he realized he was being a p**ck. So I shut the phone off too.
Keeton is ashamed of his past, his family and does not want Oliva to see him colored by those things which leads him to make some mistakes. He has the best intentions, but he also has never seen a healthy relationship modeled for him or been in one himself. I loved that he recognized it and set out to make things right.
“I’ve never had someone who cared so much. Someone who made me feel safe.” I looked up at her, hoping she believed me. “So when I say I miss you, I mean that I miss you. I’m sorry I didn’t let you in, but it was never because I didn’t want to. It was because I didn’t know how, because I was worried it would change the way you looked at me.”
The hardness in her eyes softened but I didn’t give her a chance to say anything. I needed to get this out before I chickened out and missed the chance.
“I don’t want pity, Liv, and your heart is too damn kind not to feel the need to comfort me. That doesn’t make you wrong; it’s just something I don’t want—I can’t. I left a lot of shit behind because I don’t want to live it daily, not anymore.” I took in a deep breath, trying to gain the strength to continue. “No man wants a woman he cares about to look at him as weak. And for years I was weak. I let my father beat me because he had nothing better to do. I let my brother bully me, and they both sat back and laughed like the entire thing was a comedy.” “This right here,” I pointed to my lip, “this was from my father. He showed up wanting money, and when I refused to give him any, this is what it got me.”
“She said things she didn’t have to Friday night and she loved the fact that I knew nothing about you.”
Her words hurt me, because she did know me. “Liv, you do know me.” I told her. “You may not have known about the hate from my past, but you know me. You know the man I am and want to be every day for the rest of my life. I’m still that guy, and no amount of shit my father or brother throw at me will change that.” I lifted a hand from her hip and curled it around the back of her neck as she tilted her head upward to look at me. “I don’t like the way things went down the other night, and I plan to make sure something like that never happens again. You come first, Liv.” I paused, resting my forehead to hers. “You’re my girl.”
Okay - so I got teary-eyed...... Then they go home to Montana for the summer and Keeton gets to meet the family.... and hopefully survive!
“And um, who was there with your Aunt?” I asked. I hoped like hell she didn’t say her uncle. “Uncle Jackson,” she replied.
My stomach lurched, and I swear my balls shriveled just a bit.
“And my gran.” She paused and I knew there was more, so I remained silent. “And Trinity.”
“Ah hell, Liv,” I groaned as I grabbed the pillow from beneath my head and placed it over my face. I’d been told stories of all these people over the months. They were her family and the people closest to her. Now they knew the details of our sex life.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less, sir. Olivia is a special girl and she deserves the best. I intend to prove to you as well as your entire family that she means the world to me.” He smiled and gave me a wink. “I’m up for the challenge, because nothing would ever make me walk away from Liv.”
For the longest time I felt alone, and in reality I was. Until I met Liv, I had no idea how it felt to be truly loved, or to love someone without reservation. But she gives me hope and there isn’t a damn thing I would do to sabotage that. So if I have to spend the entire summer being put through multiple tests and having the three of your boys grill me on everything involving Olivia, then I’ll get through it. Because even that isn’t gonna scare me away.”
“Keeton came here to meet the family I have spent months bragging about. He’s heard about the love and support we have for one another, and how no matter what we always have each other’s backs.” Uncle Jackson nodded and my father just watched me close as I continued. “But so far since we’ve gotten here, the only thing y’all have managed to do was show him that the two of you have the ability to be complete asses.”
My father narrowed his eyes but remained silent.
“I wanted to share my family with him, because he’s never had that kind of love. I wanted to show him my world, the things I hold dearest to my heart. But not only that, I wanted my family to meet the guy I’ve fallen head over heels in love with, and in turn allow them to fall in love with him as well.”
My hands were now shaking as the adrenaline pumped through me, a rush of frustration I could no longer tame. “He has been nothing but kind to me. He’s shown me the love I’ve only ever seen being shared between the people I look up to.” I looked at my dad. “The same kind of love you show Amber.” I then turned to Uncle Jackson. “Or the love you have for Bailey. And Uncle Noah for Alena. But instead of being happy for me and giving Keeton a chance, the only thing you all want to do is continue on with these childish games of intimidation.”
The men now looked back at me with looks of shame. “And now he wants to pack up and go back to Texas because you two have him feeling like no matter what he says or does, he will never be good enough.”
Uncle Jackson looked at Keeton, yet Keeton never looked away from me. “But I want the both of you to know that if he leaves because of these games you two keep playing, he won’t be leaving alone.” That caught their full attention and my father and uncle stared at me in confusion. “I’ll be leaving with him. Because if you can’t accept that I love him and he loves me, then there is honestly no point in either of us sticking around to prove that. We’ve played your games long enough. Keeton has been a trooper and in my opinion passed every test you’ve put him through, but you two just keep pushing. And I’ve had enough. So make a choice, because I’ve reach the end of my damn rope.”
“I’m right by your side, through it all,” she said, rising up on her toes to kiss me softly. “I’m your biggest fan, Keeton Pearce. Haven’t you figured that out by now?” Our eyes locked on one another and the weight I felt for the last couple of hours slowly began to fade. “I love you,” she whispered. “Nothing can change that.” And I believed her. Because I felt the same. Nothing could make me love this girl any less. No one could taint what we had. Not even the ugliness of my father. I wouldn’t allow it. I couldn’t. -
Keeton Pearce has now been added to my list of Book Boyfriends. Love Him!!! Olivia and him just click when first they meet and it’s freakin adorable. No wonder they fall in love. I totally feel for them through their ups and downs but throw in family and you have a very interesting summer. I loved seeing everyone again and the 3 sawyer boys with all there alpha-protectiveness was just perfect. C.A. Harms has really done it again. This is honestly an awesome series that I have loved since the first book Ryan’s Love. We get to witness Olivia grow through out the series and I will say it was a little (tiny, smidgen of a bit) weird reading about her getting all hot and steamy with Keeton. It was just a little thought that went away when you read about how much they love each other. Ahhh!! Soo sweat. Ok, now I’m off to read about Trinity’s HEA. She’s brought up a little bit with her interest in Officer Chase Douglas and I’m kinda interested on how this will play out.
Happy Reading🤓
