This book is obviously a bit dated but save for the astronauts and missions named (and the fact that all of the info sources at the back of the book are mail addresses as opposed to web addresses) you really can't tell; in fact, unless you were pretty up-to-date on the names of most astronauts and what version of what space vehicle NASA is currently running, you probably couldn't really pick out the date of this book except that it was twentieth century but after 1988. I don't know enough about current astronaut training to say whether that info is out of date or not but it doesn't seem so, most of the advice still seems pretty good. And this is a good book to serve as an intro for kids who are interested in becoming astronauts: it's not too heavy on non-training-related space info but also ins't just advice such as "be healthy" and "study math and science" either. There are most definitely more current books on the topic but if you happen to come across this one, it's not too bad, for a start. The pictures are also pretty cool, including several of people floating in zero gravity, both in the "vomit comet" as well as on the space shuttles, plus astronauts in various training situations.
