" What's better than falling in love and loosing control the lover asked,
    Loving beyond life
    yet holding the control

I literally saw Nargis through my eyes buddy- i felt the emotion and at heart it' - it' really felt connected. You are really a man of few words i must say;but those few words are enough and u are just twenty brother.( guess :) )
Other stories are fabulous as well, really loved the way u have braid the story of Riya and created actual - romance shorts', hoping i would be reviewing another of your book soon (as a giveaway ;) ).
There is technical error as the central character mention in the last part of the story is name rather spelled ; R-I-Y-A but at the end - i mean back of the cover - back were a glimpse of the story is written is spelled - R-I-A and on page 47 3rd para second line - a misprint written ehaviour rather than behaviour. Not meaning the book is ruined - just in sprit of giveaway , thank you once again for the book big brother but i have a dilemma that i just have a smaller or a abbreviated copy it says 1,104 pages and i have only 51 pages in my copy.

I had received the review copy of this book about three months back and I had been holding on from reviewing it for so long for one particular reason… I wasn’t really sure how I felt about this book right away. I moved on to other books and re-read it after a particularly long mystery novel recently.

Romance Shorts is a collection of four short stories revolving around love and all the emotions that it brings with it. “Nargis Through My Summers” is the first story in the book and probably the longest of the four. It is a story of a boy who is in enamored by a girl who doesn’t know she exists. He watches her from not so far away and often puts all his emotions into sketching her. This also happens to be the story that managed surprise me. I love the underlying pathos in the story. “Mine Forever” is a story of a man who is desperately in love with a woman who has walked out on him. Driving himself to distraction with work has done little to change his feelings about her. So, what happens when she walks back into his life? This story surprised me with the vivid portray of the protagonist. I was really surprised how familiar he felt in that short span. “Memories” is a story of a man who tries his best to recover his memories of his wife after an accident. For some reason I just could not connect to this story, even with the twist in the end. “Love Came Calling Again” was probably the only predictable story in the book with the protagonist trying to get over a broken heart and finding the strength to find love again.

The four stories cover a whole range of emotions and different types of love. Whether it is a hopelessly one sided love or whether it is about finding love and hope after a heart break; Whether it is jealousy or longing… the stories have captured the essence of these feelings in the story quite well. The author’s language in this book is plain and simple. It was easy to follow the flow in each story, though at times I did wish for little more depth in the narratives. It is a pretty short book with 45 odd pages and could make for a fast and light read while in between books.

This book has been in my bookshelf for over a month now as I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book. So after reading few thrillers and Sci-Fi I finally decided to pick it up this Sunday and give it a try.

Romance Shorts by Sourabh Mukherjee is a collection of four short love stories each with a different shade of love.
The first story, Nargis through the summers, also the longest is a story of boy deeply in love with a girl who watches her from his window and puts his emotion on the canvas. This is one story that surprised me and loved the underlying pathos in the plot which would be a spoiler if I reveal it.
Mine forever is a story that reminds the reader that love never dies. The characters in this plot felt most authentic despite being a short story.
Memories is about a man struggling to recover his lost memories of his wife after a car accident during a vacation in which he lost her just to discover what actually in their life and what caused the accident.
Love coming calling again as the title reveals is about the power of love that never ends bringing about two separated soulmates together again.

The simplistic cover design and title does justice to the book in conveying the type of book you are into. Sourabh has done a brilliant job in storytelling and conveying every emotions of the realistic characters to the readers in the simplistic language making this book an entertaining short read.
    Recommended.

When author says, Romance Shorts he means that, yes he keeps the promise of entertaining his readers. Yes, this books his AMAZING after a long time I read so fresh and intriguing short stories. They are still on my mind.

When I read the book synopsis I realizes the book has unfolded mine and nestled emotions. True, this book is a page turner and would astonish its readers. Author Sourabh Mukharjee has beautifully penned every emotions. He not only played fantastically with his storytelling skills but actually made his every character so lively and real.

The book consist of four different stories, and I fell in love with the first story “ Nargis Through My Summer”- beautifully written with perfect blend of emotions. Every story has had hidden treasures of love, longing and wait- emotions. The title and the book cover were very apt and they goes with each story. Simplicity at its best.

The language is one of the positive punch of the book. It truly surprised me when I began reading. So lucid and it left me CONTENT. I completed the book in a single sitting.

I wish the book had few more pages, my mind was not ready to accept the book has finally ended.

The book was rollercoaster ride to world of ecstasy of being in love and how heart fights with all odds and kept its promise of loving that one person only.

Romance Shorts is highly recommended to ‘every heart which beats for another’-Line from the book.

I would love to rate this amazing work 5/5. Looking forward to read more from the author.

Romance Shorts is a love story collection having 4 stories. Each story is unique in its own way. There is innocence, purity, hope, jealousy, anger, realism. Sourabh Mukherjee’s stories in Romance shorts will make you fall in love with his characters and his narration style. It is like a spell which will be casted on you that will not let you leave this book midway. It will keep you hooked on to it. You will be surely lost in ‘Romance Shorts’.
    Nargis through my summers
Nargis through my summers is a story of a boy who is in love with a girl. He doesn’t know her real name. She has a nose like that of Bollywood actress Nargis and that’s the reason why he addresses her with that name. He sees her everyday, when she comes home from school. He sketches her portrait only to conclude that it is not up to that mark. He is hopelessly in love with Nargis. Is he successful in conveying his feelings to her?
My first impression about this story wasn’t very good. I thought it to be the usual ‘Bollywood’ love story about a boy stalking his love. As I read further, my impression changed completely. I felt like the protagonist and Nargis were there for real. The innocence in this story stole my heart. I never felt that I was reading. It was more like the protagonist was conversing with me. It touched my heart. A pure form of love, this story was!
    Rating: 4/5 stars.
    Mine Forever
The protagonist is awarded with ‘The Most Successful Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. Everybody is praising him for his achievements and all, he is concerned about is Sheetal – the love of his life. For some reason they had drifted apart and he had lost hopes of seeing her again. Has Sheetal returned for a permanent stay in his life?
Mine Forever is a kind of story that made me believe that ‘forever-ever’ kind of love does exist. The narration is realistic. I felt connected with the protagonist and his feelings. The emotions are the striking features of this story. No matter how hard one tries, true love never dies!
    Rating: 3.5/5 stars.
    Memories
The protagonist has had a fatal accident and has lost his wife, Kavya and his memories. No matter how hard he tries, he cannot recollect anything. Destiny plays games with him and gives him some clues which are related to his memories. Who wins this puzzle game?
‘Love’ is a feeling which either brightens or worsens life. What happens when a pinch of jealousy, hatred and anger is added to this sweet dish? The outcome is devasting. I liked the mystery from this story.
    Rating: 4/5 stars.
    Love came calling again
‘Love came calling again’ is a beautiful tale of modern day relationships. Riya is in relationship with Karan which ended on a bad note. She is insecure and scared and that’s when Prince Charming enters her life. Will she be able to love again?
There are many ‘Riya’s’ out in the world, whom I personally know. This story seems like the one that has happened with most of us. It’s this connection which makes this story touch those chords. Again, engaging story having simple narration.
    Rating: 3.5/5
    I rate:
    Cover: 3.5/5
    Stories: 4/5
My overall rating for ‘Romance Shorts’ is 4/5 stars.

The words first came to my mind are mesmerizing, insanely good, spell bound.

Many, many books have been written on the theme of love and passion but not every book and every story lived the love as stories of Sourabh Mukerjee did.

    * The book is sent by the author in lieu of honest review.

The book comprises of FOUR short stories
    1) Nargis through my summers.- With this one story, I would say Sourabh Mukherjee is not an author he is a magician.
The boy waited long and long to tell his beloved that how much he love her and no one else can love her the way he does. But, he never did so.
He waited, he dreamed and one day saw her married off.

    2) Mine Forever.- Love never dies, if it does, it is not love.
He loved her, he romanced with her, he danced with her, he cried in front of her.
She talked, teased, console and vanish.
His beloved wife who is now a memory from past, left him in the hands of faith.

    3) Memories.- He loved her and she rewarded him with betrayal.
    Story of love and betrayal.

    4) Love came calling again.- When faith and destiny met something unexpected but desired happens.
This is what happened with Riya and Karan, the two souls meant to be together, they parted but not for long.

Corollary - The book is worth your time and money. Sourabh Mukherjee did a commendable job with uncommon plot of love, passion and betrayal. Characters came alive when you move on in the story and romance in front of you and you will unable to hold back to live and love with them.

  • Anmol Singh

Romance Shorts presents four striking short stories with different shade to romance. Nargis Through My Summers will simply touch your heart for sure, Mine Forever can give you chills, Memories will give you a slightly shocking surprise or you may go... OMG! and Love Came Calling Again will be a sweet treat. Each one stands out elegantly, they will serve you a blend of emotions.

What makes it a delight is that it is short yet so deep that each story will easily grab place in your thoughts and memories. You will feel what the characters feel, you will see what they see and you will be part of those scene through the words. It is indeed a difficult task to imbibe deep emotions and striking concepts in a short story and make it reach to the readers in its best form; in that case the writer succeeded with flying colors and he did a great job in choosing the best to present. Everything in this book is in right quantities considering the point that a few best things will make you long for it more and creates that long lasting impact.

All i could point out regarding the low points in this book is that, sometimes it was predictable as what is coming up but the beauty of it keeps you moving.

I would rate this book 4.5/5. *Applause* for the author for such a magnificient work. I am happy to recommend it to my readers.

I received this book as a giveaway and I'm thankful to the author, his publisher and most importantly Goodreads. 'Romance Shorts' has 61 pages in all and at first I wished it had a few more pages to qualify as a novella. It has 4 different stories; three sad and one happy. What the stories felt like I would explain very briefly.
    Story 1: one-sided teenage love - infatuation - heartbreak - farewell - reminded of Tagore's writing
Story 2: loneliness - remoteness - success without happiness - tragedy
Story 3: recollections - déjà vu - tragedy
    Story 4: happy relationship - separation - dating - poetry - reconciliation
The first and the last one are my favorites.

  • Shrikanth Venne

Romance Shorts is a book of true love. Liked all the stories and each story has its own importance. The story memories tells such importance and also Nargis through the summer. Romance shorts is a good small book which will not take your much time to read but whatever time you will take it will be worth it...

    Love in it's different shades..
Really loved reading the four love stories - each with an unpredictable twist in the end - and the feeling evoked is a mix of nostalgia and yearning. Appreciate the effort of the author to bring in the right balance of the emotions in the collection.

Remaining stories are also well written.

Title : Romance Shorts is one of those short and crisp titles that gives a hint to the user as of what to expect beneath the cover. Some books have emphasising titles that celebrate the theme of the book whereas there are others with titles that are not so welcoming. Romance Shorts falls under the first category. There could be no other title more appropriate for this book.

Cover : The cover is a beautiful abstract with all those colors that depict love and happiness, exactly what the book is about. A tiny fluttering heart rising like a balloon tied to a string symbolises one's state of mind when he/she falls in love. The cover page of the book prepares us for the magnificence of the stories hidden in the pages within.

Characterization : The brilliance of the author is showcased by his beautiful characterization in the stories. Every character in the story is life-like and extremely relatable. Their emotions and thoughts touch the readers and effects them immensely. The behaviour of Nargis has been displayed to us through the eyes of the teenage boy who is hopelessly in love with her. The forlorn Sid's desperation comes across in Sheetal's absence. Similarly, all the other characters of the stories are strong yet resemble those around us.

My view : Seldom do books rejoice the glory of love, the way Sourabh Mukherjee has done in his short stories. My heart leapt, wept, broke down and fought back with each of his stories. His language has a certain charm that leaves a deep impression on his readers and brings out their pent up emotions from within.

Even as I write this review, I realise that nothing I say, no word of mine can do justice to the way Romance Shorts has made me feel. No appreciation is enough for such exceptional storytelling capabilities. His vivid narration and singular take on daily lives of regular people leaves no chance of pointing right from wrong. Your head will be muddled with confusion and no ethics or morale will pop up its head to help you judge the situations. This is exactly how a person feels when they are in love. This is how the characters in the stories felt. And this is how I felt because I fell in love with each and every word of the book. It matters little in what situation you are or how you are dealing with life presently. The book should come with the caution mentioned below.

Note: You will fall in love if you open this book.

There are four romantic stories in this composition set in the recent times and each of these stories puts stress on love from different perspectives.

Nargis through my summers. A brief story with an enchanting characterization and an unusual ending, it takes us back to those summers when power cuts were maximum and the whole neighbourhood was united in a unique bond. Many new love stories took birth in these summers and this is one such story where a young teenage boy falls in love with another teenager and yearns for the love of his life from within the confines of his home.

Mine Forever is a heartbreaking tale of a lonesome youth, who in spite of being at the pinnacle of success longs for his beloved. His heart is faithful to only work and alcohol and keeps waiting for her to come back into his life. This story depicts the sorrow one goes through when distance and fate has played with one's life.

Memories, when they flood back, can overwhelm a man's life who has recently lost his own. Betrayal, frustration and anger are common when a heart breaks and the love is not reciprocated. Where exactly does that negativity lead?

Love Came Calling Again. A heart broken young girl, bares her heart to a stranger in a chat room, looking for solace. However, destiny has something special stored for her. This is one of those tales that reinforces one's faith in love and leaves a chance for silver lining.

Romance Shorts has been more of a roller coaster ride of emotions for me. It is a masterpiece and the author's elegant writing style affects the readers. With his efficient storytelling, fantastic language and extraordinary characters, Sourabh Mukherjee's Romance Shorts delights its readers.

  • Prasanna Kumar

    Got this one from Giveaways

Thanks to Sourabh Mukherjee for this wonderful book.

Nargis through my summers: This one story.. wow what a feel. After finished this one i can't move my head away from it. Simply awesome. I don't remember last time when i cried after reading a story.

Mine Forever : This one explains the pain of missing your loved one.

Memories: Story of Love and Betrayal.

Love came calling again: True love always finds a way to come back.

Overall a good book to read and feel love. :)

  • Sanjana Radhakrishnan

Romance Shorts is an incredible collection of short romantic tales that will find its way into your thoughts easily. The stories are: Nargis Through My Summers which is the highlight of this book ; tells you about that third person yet the significant one in a love story and trust me … the end is poignant yet so beautiful! Next comes Mine Forever which deals with the temperament shift of a person in love, you will be surprised at its turn of events… Another is Memories which gives a suspense and thrill package and finally there is Love Came Calling Again which stands on a delightful note.

The attraction of the book is that it is short… It’s effective and deep quick-read stories that could create strong impressions, and above all different shades of love in different frame it explores that keeps the interest to read, strong. The stories are so brilliantly written that you will literally feel the story as you read.It takes you to different horizons , to diferent people , to different places and tells you about the forms love can take through people.

I couldnt help but share my favourite part from the book *spoiler* :

As the car started, Nargis looked out of the window and waved at her family and friends gathered on the road. And like a man drowning in the high seas, I stretched out a hand as if to grab the last vestiges of hope- the hand that would never feel the warmth of her skin, fingers that would never curl around her fingers. My hands waved a reluctant, half hearted goodbye.

We have a wavepool of emotions in those words alone. There is actually more to it but I am forcing myself not to disclose more… dont want to create more spoilers and steal that feeling from the readers

I won the book from Goodreads Giveaway. Romance Shorts presents four hitting short stories with various shade to sentiment. The dialect is one of the positive punch of the book. It really astounded me when I started perusing. I finished the book in an hour setting.

The book comprises of four unique stories, and Author Sourabh Mukherjee has perfectly penned each feeling. Each story has had shrouded fortunes of affection, aching and holds up feelings. The title and the book cover were exceptionally able and they run with every story. What makes it a pleasure is that it is short yet so profound that every story will effectively get the place in your considerations . The peruser can envision and join with the characters . Everything in this book is in right amounts considering the point that a couple best things will make you yearn for it increasingly and makes that enduring effect.

Sourabh Mukherjee has written very well. When I was starting the book
Romance Shorts, I had not expected that this small book of less than 60 pages will be that strong in conveying the story well. But, I was very wrong. This is one of the best books I have read. People give too much background in their stories, but Saurabh has written very well in very less words. He has explained every story in the best way possible. I am very eagerly waiting to read more books and stories from Saurabh.

These short stories are filled with pain, nostalgia and longing of unrequited love. Every single one of us has loved and lost and these stories will open the scabs of those partially healed wounds and make you feel the pain again. Worth a read.

Romance Shorts is a collection of 4 short love stories. Each story has its own beauty and grace that leaves a lasting impact on reader’s mind. Every story is written exquisitely with a climax that leaves us awestruck.

    A Delightful Read

Romance Shorts is a short but delightful read. Out of the 4 stories in the collection, first one is a bit long while others are quite short. So, basically one can finish the book in just one go. And as soon as the book is finished, one is left craving for more.

Love is at the centre of each story. We have a boy who looks down from his window at the girl of his dreams, a businessman who has everything but his wife, a man who has lost not only  his wife but also his memory in an accident and a girl who, with a broken heart, tries to rediscover love.

The stories seem to be as plain as the writing style, that is lucid. The author has very well portrayed the emotions of the characters. But the strength of each story is its climax. Each story brings out something at the end, which is beyond our imagination.

The content of the book is just superb. What I did not like is the book itself. Yes! The book looks like a complimentary copy that one gets for free with some other book. The cover is fine. I liked it. But at the back, there is nothing save the blurb. No pricing, no ISBN, or any other details. And the book has no introduction but we do have a few pages of appreciation of the book by readers. So, it is not the way a book is ought to be. I really hope that the subsequent editions have all the things that this one lacks.

I loved all 4 stories but the first one stands out. Besides the first one, the last one is my favorite. The stories are good, but they are all superficial. I would recommend this book to everyone out there. Go get your hands on it. I’m sure everyone will love it.

    Author comments:

Sourabh Mukherjee's immensely popular e-books Nargis Through my Summers and Loves Lost are now in print in one cover.

Appreciation for the stories in Romance Shorts:

‘A story which evokes yearning in our hearts, pushing the hands of time. Sourabh is economic in his choice of words, and allows the reader's imagination to play. His style is that of a master story-teller and the build-up is strong. The end has a twist that rhymes well with the elevated level of this story. This is just the beginning; we want many more from you. Readers: THIS IS A MUST READ.’ – Reader review in Amazon (Nargis Through my Summers)

‘This book is a must read for all romantics and "cynics" in equal measure. It’s a beautiful story, written in an extremely simple, subtle and poignant style. The way the story unfolded was beautiful yet unexpected’ – Reader review in Amazon (Nargis Through my Summers)

‘A lucid read. I really liked how the author articulated the inner feelings of the protagonist. Also, must appreciate the in-depth description of emotions. I could almost visualize the scenes opening up and enacting in front of my eyes. It also got me nostalgic and took me on a trip down memory lane. The suspense of the story has been well kept under wraps.’ – Reader review in Amazon (Nargis Through my Summers)

‘Oh what a treat it was! Just the right amount of text and right amount of storytelling. The ending was unexpected, but it made so much sense.’ - Review in Goodreads (Nargis Through my Summers)

‘Just finished reading the story and have to say the ending was astounding! Really impressed. The buildup was awesome and the last chapter breath taking.’ – Review in Goodreads (Nargis Through my Summers)

While reading a good short story I expect the element of surprise at the end. In the collection entitled LOVES LOST the author seems to have woven all the three plots in such a manner that as the reader would proceed, her inquisitiveness too would build up till she reaches the end with a twist. The author was able to keep the secret up its sleeve till the end, on the disclosure of which I felt contented - Reader review of Loves Lost

The use of essential words was quite impressive. The author seems to have done justice with their placement thereby bringing out a vivid verbal picture of the surroundings wherever the characters exist. With the faultless use of various types of imagery as a reader I could easily associate with the mournful melancholy of the characters, someone’s lament for the dead, the anxiety in another character, their personal and emotional agonies. The author seems to have explored the urban thinking pattern very closely. By playing with the spontaneous overflow of emotions of the respective protagonists in each story the author could evoke an emotional response from the reader’s heart too. Must appreciate the descriptive techniques used to heighten the effect of the story. I found the story titles appropriate too. Shall look forward for more such interesting stories from the author. – Reader review of Loves Lost
