10 [Boku No Hero Academia 10] (My Hero Academia, #10) Reviews

On paper, this volume should've been pretty exciting — a big rescue mission, huge showdown between the heroes and the villains, and the debut of All Might's arch-nemesis... But the writing quality just wasn't there this time around. The events were hard to follow, so I was constantly wondering what exactly was going on at any given moment. Plus, it's Dragon Ball Z all over again — the fun and excitement of the early days is far behind, and the new darker tone with the new lamer scarier villains is too jarring. I did like Bakugo in this volume though, which is a first — I normally can't stand the guy.

I just... wow. This manga is amazing!!

    AAAAAAAA

    THE HYPE NEVER STOOOOOOPS

It has been a never-ending hype train ever since volume 9, and it's still goooing!!!!

I find the villain's motivations fresh and unique and multi-layered. Good writing, Horikoshi!!

Explanation marks because All Might always talks with explanation marks!

Though not going to lie, I'm kind of over these villains! Maybe I'm too used to the "villain of the arc" formula of every other shonen, because it feels weird that this one villain (Shigaraki) is still around running the game, 10 volumes in. He's a pretty interesting villain though, all that said. Like how he's all immature and being coached in the ways of eeevvil by an even bigger baddie.

By the way I love Bakugo, he is my son, thank you and good night.

(I have to go to sleep but I have the next volume literally right behind me and so???? There is really no decision here to be made!!!!!)

Note to self: Now I think about it more carefully, I realized the teacher in My Hero Academia are idiots. I mean, the adult pro heroes mostly have eye mask, helmet or face mask on (only All Might and a few others do show their faces), but they would just let the underage UA students to go on a national live broadcast when everyone can see their faces and know their full names!? That makes no fucking sense! As much as I like this series it's still a massive plot hole. XD

PS: I can't rate the manga series because I've only watched the anime! But I'm smitten anyway!

PSS: talking about All Might, I just adore this dorky guy!!!!

PSSS: I admit I first read some super cute boy's love fanfics about this series first before I got to the story canon! XD

finally the volume gets a cover but FUCK THE COVER for reasons, tho I still love it

This volume proves how nobody in the setting of MHA has common sense. First you have the villains kidnapping Bakugo and asking him to join their side. Bakugo had no reason to do so, and obviously refuses. So, what exactly was the plan here? Horikoshi ripped off the Sasuke retrieval mission but forgot to give Bakugo a reason for wanting to join the bad guys, making all this mess completely pointless.

Then the public complains about the heroes failing to stop a student from being taken by villains. How ungrateful are these assholes? The heroes have been protecting them on a daily basis from mass murderers who constantly spread chaos. Why is everyone going on a tantrum over a student getting kidnapped when the world is being saved on a daily basis for centuries?

Then the heroes find the hideout of the villains because the latter are dumb. If you bring a Nomu with you, common sense dictates you will use him. Now imagine these idiots not only doing nothing with their artificial superman, but also letting one of the students to casually walk next to him, and place a beacon on him so they can find the hideout.

Then we get a flashback of Shigaraki, the facepalm villain, who also lacks common sense, since he hates heroes for not coming to save him when he was in danger. Probably because they were busy saving the universe close by. What an ungrateful sonavabitch!

Everyone’s train of thought in this manga is a trainwreck and it gives me a headache.

"This society's bound hand and foot by all its damned rules. And we're not the only ones feeling suppressed."

Bakugo at every single person who thinks he wants to be a villain:

But really though, I LOOOOOOOVE how Aizawa defends his students. HIS class 1-A. Bakugo isn't going anywhere unless it's the #1 hero spot.

Also...side note, I need Mr. Compress in an actual novel. That power? That charisma? The entertainment?? That would fit right in with a book like
    Clockwork Angel,
    Caraval, or even freaking
    Mistborn: The Final Empire

It was fascinating to see how everyone felt about their role as heroes after the dreadful outcome from the previous volume.

The struggle to act going up against their public image is an excellent theme explored in this story arc and it is even more intriguing with an exciting confrontation being cooked up.

Entertaining! A continuance of the heroes facing off against the group of villains targeting Bakugo. This was more of the adult heroes fighting and that was interesting.

  • RG

Darker in tone but a bit confusing with some plot lines. It had all the hallmarks of potentially a good story (revenge rescue) but it just didnt seem to go anywhere.

    Read- March 2020
    - I only have one more volume before I've ran out and have to wait until lock down is over before I can get more volumes.

Yep, these mangas are definitely getting better and better.

I loved it but the other volumes had more panels that made me go like: WOWWWWW

  • Elis

    Good as always :D

    RATING: 3.5 stars

    That was... kind of lame.

I think this could have probably been stretched out more, actually. We could have gotten more character depth and stuff. There were a few conversations that were... cool, I guess, but there should have been a longer period without action and fighting and rescue, I think, so we could deal with what happened? I barely had time to be "shocked"- the fandom totally spoiled me for this lmao- before they were already deciding to go rescue Bakugou.

I guess this volume is darker and stuff, but there was no real focus on anyone in it. It was the same problem as the eighth volume, but that at least had Momo's character development- this had nothing. I just wanted more out of it.

I'm very much ready for this battle- multiple battles, actually, all at once- to be over, so that we can move on to the next arc.

Oh, but there was one thing I totally loved: THE DISGUISES. Iida, Todoroki, Kirishima, and Izuku looked hilarious lmao Todoroki should start rocking that hairstyle everywhere. And I literally confused Kirishima with Kaminari with that hair lol.

I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!!!!

  • Batool Fardan

nothing like a good manga to cheer you up !

  • Fahda

I'm going through these manga's surprisingly quickly! I just can't stop!

  • Jinkay

It gets better everytime. Though it is predictable at times, it is still enjoyable. I feel connected with the characters. And it's the first time that I got teary-eyed just by reading manga.

  • Mehsi

The tenth volume and things are getting even more harrowing when the battles intensify and things get even bigger. But there is also more. Because we also see what happens afterwards. See the heroes try to plan something thanks to one of the students and her quirk. And we see our students make up a plan. But is it really a good idea? Given what happened with Stain and how they were treated. I was proud of the kids, though I also found them dumb. Haha, especially Deku. I get it, you want to save your friend. But you just broke everything and you got some heavy news as well.
And then we also get to see the POV of the villains and see Bakugo and his reactions. I really loved that we got to see so many POVs.
The ending was a big HOLY HELL. I keep thinking that things couldn't get more scary, more exciting, and then boom, you get throw a fastball. XD I need the next volume. Hopefully soon!

This was a good volume. It’s just a lot of set up for the epic battle between All Might and All for One. Tenya had some really great moments when he punched Deku for wanting to go with this stupid plan. Then when he stops Deku from going in there and thinking ‘I will protect you’. That’s just…he’s such a bro and I love him.

  • Brittany

Another good volume. This one is the end of the battle at the summer camp and the continuation of the fight outside of it. The kidnapping of a student as well as all the injured does not make UA look good and the perspective of the people is changing.
Also the cute frog and mongoose story at the end was fun.

  • Bradley

    Ah, exciting!

The failure to keep Mr. Explody safe, a psy-ops operation, and a couple of tables turning later, and we've got ourselves an AWESOME volume. Plenty of build-up in the previous ones gave us something special right here.

And now, onto the next, for the BIG showdown and jailbreak. :)

  • **Sognatrice di libri**

Ho trovato questo volume molto avvincente e accattivante.

    bakugo deserves better

Absolutely love the heroes handing together to rescue their classmate. So much earned weight to the story and I love their bond with each other!

    -

    ASPECTOS NEGATIVOS
