Practical Rook Endings Reviews
-
In my opinion one of the most important books for the improving chess player. Rook endgames are very common and often butchered by lower rated players. You see time and time again strong players turning equal rook endgames into wins, lost rook endgames into draws, and you see weaker players turning draws into losses. All of Mednis’ endgame books are great for basic principles, and in my opinion learning rook endgames can help the 1600 player become a 100 points stronger overnight. Learning how to mate with bishop and knight or learning that sideline of the KID 30 moves deep is not practical for the 1600 player; learning rook endgames is absolutely practical.
