Geek Bear (Rescue Bears, #6) Reviews

GEEK BEAR is the sixth book in the Rescue Bear series. Each stands on its own, but it is better if you have read the whole series to know the other characters. This series is also entwined with the Bear Patrol, Bear Warden, and Fate Valley series.

In this story, Corey finds out what happens when you deny yourself your fated mate. Why would you subject her or yourself to that life? He is the smartest bear on the mountain… except when it comes to realizing what he was willingly refusing himself while providing mates to all of those around him!

I loved this story. I loved that it took Corey nearly losing Willow to realize that he couldn’t live well without his mate by his side. Excellent writing and sigh-worthy drama.

I have not read any others in this series, but have read in the entwined series, so I was familiar with the Rescue Bears. It was nice to finally ‘meet’ the men on this team. I will be looking to add more of these books to my collection.

Geeks unite and not see they hot🔥🔥

Great story of how one bad decision can lead to disaster. Corey created Mates.com to help shifters find their fated mates. He did want or need a mate at least that's what he said. Karma and his Rescue Bear crew help him out. Great plot twists and romance. I loved this book and think it's the best of the series so far.

Omg  what are we going to do this is the last book of the Rescue Bears. Ms. Scarlett has left the best for last or has she... Your guess is as good as mine. What I do know is that this Series is phenomenal,  living on Fate Mountain  where the Resort, Brewery and the ex-military Rescue Bears all with there fated mates, babies plus the little tikes. Wow what a Clan!!
As a computer programmer Whiz Kids, Corey Bright invented the app that would find his Rescue Team there fated mate. Mate.com which was a shifter/ human dating site,  yep it worked for his buddies, it seemed to work very  well that it just added to his billions but than he could care less about money and he wasn't interested in finding his fated mate. Little did he know that the Rescuer Bears had other plans for him. Will they succeed?
Willow Rhine is the ghostwriter for the famous romance author, Sandra Collins. Willow didn’t want all the signings and press chattings, she just wanted to write, which for some reason she has writers block better yet somehow someone found her out and now she has a stalker who loves to send threatening messages. Now for once what seems like a long time since anything went right she a match. Yep they found her Fated Mate at Fate Mountain. I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.

This was a good story overall. I liked Willow but Corey was kind of an idiot though most of it.

Willow is a ghost writer who writes romance novels for others. She loves writing and is happy that she can make her living through it. But even though she isn't thrilled at the thought of being in the public eye, the authors she writes for make tons of money off of her books and Willow wonders if she should start writing under her own name instead.

Corey is a bear shifter who is a computer geek that also volunteers for the local rescue team along with the rest of his bear clan. Corey grew up with two shifter parents that were fated mates but didn't do well together. This was mainly because his father was addicted to women and gambling and wouldn't do right by Corey's mother. Because of all the crap his father put his mother through, Corey swore off finding a mate of his own.

So the other 5 members of Corey's rescue team have all found their mates due to Corey's dating program/app and they want Corey to find his mate as well. So they make a profile for him on the dating app and trick him into giving them the correct answers for the quiz that will find his mate. Then they arrange a blind date with his mate (Willow) figuring that once he sees her, he'll come around. Willow is unsure about meeting Corey but she knows about fated-mates and thinks it could be good and she needs love in her life. Willow is currently experiencing writer's block and has a stalker sending her disturbing letters so she decides it's a good time to get away.

I sort of expected this setup from the book's description but to be honest, I didn't think Corey would be such an idiot. He completely ignores the fact that in order for his mating to be like his parent's mating, Corey would have to be like his father to make the same mistakes. He is so caught up in his own angst that he ends up hurting Willow...which is what he supposedly didn't want to do. I liked Willow and the way she handled things...very realistic and unannoying. Corey does come around and they work things out but his earlier idiocy made me feel rather tepid towards him even after his turnaround. The story does end with Willow and Corey together and heading towards a HEA.

This was a good story. Willow was a good heroine that was open to love but tried to be sensible about it and life. Corey...well I already mentioned my annoyance over his complete idiocy. He does get past that and I came to think he was alright but the book is too short to have time to completely turn around my opinion of him any more than that. Overall, I liked the story and the character (mostly) but I am glad I got this for free. :)

Dialogue was awkward and the characters shallow. Storyline was meh and often had me laughing and/or rolling my eyes. It’s a novella at only 130 pages so I pushed through but I wont be looking into the rest of the series.

The entire book happens in a couple of days. Corey fights the mate bond yet still initiates interactions and a date with her. A line at 52% sums it up pretty well “he’d gone from being one hundred percent against doing anything with her to making her come on the beach” - in less than 24 hours. And he pushed her away again after.

A lot of this book feels like it’s about money instead of romance. Cole’s insanely smart and has made billions off his tech yet somehow none of his friends know. We are repetitively told how he has mass amounts of money and could do whatever he wanted. Willow is a broke ghost write who keeps thinking about how it isn’t fair she gets paid so little when her books are all best sellers as all the money goes to the publisher and the woman who’s name she is using.

He was understandably angry with his crew, they were wrong trying to force the issue. Then he gets over it and regrets being mad at them and thinking they were right to do what they did. No, they weren’t.

Of course he has a magic program that can take a letter with no name, address, or fingerprints and still find out who sent it. I get that it’s basically just scanning all available surveillance footage based on the postmarks, but there are so many ways a stalker could get around that.

    >Book review – Geek Bear
    >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 6th in the Rescue Bears series and ends in an HEA. Corey is the last of the bear shifters on the search and rescue team to mate. His teammates, worried about him, sign him up to his own dating website and pair him with his perfect mate, Willow. Corey is a computer genius and a loner. Willow is a ghost writer, who is just lonely. The story used a clever trick of using Willow’s fake book plot as the story’s plot.
    >Willow has a stalker, escalating in his pursuit of her. Corey realizes Willow is his mate, but is afraid to mate. He does want to protect her from the threat. The whole stalker storyline started with suspense, but just fizzled out. Willow never looked over her shoulder due to feelings of being watched. When she was taken, the situation was rectified so fast, the reader hardly felt any tension or fear.
    > This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 3 stars. The romance was both sad and sweet, but the suspense fell flat.

Corey is every geek girl's dream: billionaire, sexy, and a genius. Unfortunately, Corey only takes time away from his computer to help Rescue Bears with data analysis program to help find people on the mountain. The Bear Clan decides now that they are all mated that Corey needs a mate too. So, they set up a profile on mate.com for him and get him drunk so he can answer all the question the program asks. Corey designed mate.com and knows the questions work for the algorithm needed to find a shifter his 100% mate. He doesn't want a mate, but Corey has no idea what is coming. Willow Rhine is a ghostwriter, but she has a stalker. She goes to Fate Mountain ready for her own romance, but doesn't realize that the person she is talking through the app to is not Corey, but his friends.  I love how Corey comes to realize that having a mate does not have to keep him from being productive, but actually fulfills apart of him that he didn't realize was there.

    ☆☆☆☆
This novella is about Willow and Corey aka Geek Bear.

Willow meets Corey on mate dot com. Or so she thinks. Willow is a romance author and signed up for the website for research. Once she finds out she has a fated mate she agrees to go to Fate Mountain to meet Corey. Corey has no clue that his crew set him up. He never knew about Willow or that the crew signed him up on the website. Corey doesnt want to hurt Willow so he makes it clear he doesn't want anything to do with her. That is until she is kidnapped. Now he wants her and nothing else.

This one was alright. Corey never drew my attention in the other novellas. He's really boring. Willow was great though and I'm glad they get their happily ever after.

I also loved the ending with the whole crew and their families that get together. One big happy family!

    Fantastic enjoyable story

I enjoy reading shifters stories! Scarlett Grove is a talented and gifted writer. I really enjoy reading her Rescue Bears series. The characters are enjoyable, captivating and full of romance. This story has a lot drama which will keep you turning the pages. This story is about Corey and Willow mating relationship. Corey Bright is a computer geek he love creating programs that help people. Willow is ghost writer for a famous romance author. I enjoyed the interaction between Corey and Willow. I highly recommend this book and I am anxious to read the next book.

Cute and short shifter story. Corey Bright is a tech genius/geek and a bear shifter. All his friends have found their mates, but Corey isn't interested. Behind his back, his friends set him on a dating app he himself designed, and they find his fated mate. Willow Rhine is a human author who is struggling to finish her current book, while trying to stay safe from a stalker When she gets a notification she's been matched up with a shifter and is offered a free stay in his town to get to know him, she takes the opportunity to get out of town. I liked the characters and, since this was the first book in this series I've read, I'll have to go back and start from the beginning. 3.5 stars.

All the stories are different but the whole series fits together

I love that every individual book in this series is different but they all share the same characters of Fate Mountain so I can stay up to date on my favorites characters stories while still being introduced to new characters. I do wish there was more back information and character development in this series though. This series always has a great plot, some action and of course romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books that take place in date mountain.

  • Elaine Swinney

I loved this book. This is another quick easy read, one for a lazy afternoon. I thought the book was well written. I enjoyed the story line. It is worth your time and effort. This is the second in this series I have read and I was pleased with both books. Each book is a stand alone book and they are worth your time and effort.

  • Mariah

This book brought tears to my eyes. Corey is disconnected from his deepest feelings but Willow tears them out for him, not relentlessly but in the most innocent way. He doesn’t want to hurt her but he’s breaking her up with his rejection. It may break her writers block but there are worse things that could happen to his mate, and the scary thing? Well, what could be scarier than feelings?

  • Julie

    The geek and the writer

The writer has a stalker. The geek is an inventor of many things, including mate.com. However, due to his childhood, he does not want to use it himself.
    Of course, things work out.

  • Robin Bellows

    It's ok

I felt that this book was longer than it needed be. I love Scarlett Grove's books so much that as soon as I see a new book I buy it automatically. This one was a bit off for me. We all have different taste so go read it.

  • Jane Elizabeth

    KU Edition reader

Loved the story and its realistic scenarios. Stalkers are both real and dangerous. Law Enforcement has their hands tied if the stalker hasn't done any physical harm...yet! Quite the conundrum.

  • Sophie

    Cute book.

Not much I can say about the books in this series as I feel like I'm repeating my reviews. It's a nice, easy read series perfect if you want a book you can read in one evening. No real plot or character development but I did enjoy it.
