Philippine Demonological Legends And Their Cultural Bearings Reviews

If you've read the earlier volumes of this series, you'll notice that some of the stories in this book are also present there. So there isn't really anything new here except for the added detailed descriptions of each creature and references to other literature. It also sometimes became repetitive when you had to read the same description of the creature appear several times throughout the same chapter. A little more editing would've fixed that. In fact, after reading seven books in the series, I believe the a lot of the information in several books could have just been compressed into one large volume.

This book presents a very good introduction on different kinds of Filipino Lower Mythology beings, history and relevance. It is specially relevant to the Filipino up to this day; on the little things that we have in everyday life such as foods riddled in spices and/or vinegar, and its cultural-historical background on why we do so.
This is a fascinating read and answers my own personal question: How did the Filipino Adobo came to be?
