Fifty poets celebrate Singapore’s 50th year of self-government.

Would give this collection of Singaporean poetry 2.5/5 if I could. There were some great ones like “The Government of the Self” by Alfian Sa’at, “From A to Z, a Zoetrope Spins in Commemoration of Your Independence” by Yeow Kai Chai, and “The Degenerate South” by Chia Hwee Peng (Xi Ni Er). But quite a few others felt predictable, resorting to national cliches.
