Garfields Cheesy Holiday Special #1 Reviews

"Holly's Holiday Hope" - 3 stars, cute
"The Lasagna monster who stole christmas!" - 1 star, WTF did I just read? -
Wait, Garfield has Canon?
One of the stories here references previous stories, although there's nothing so deep here that you're going to feel lost without having read them. The Lasagna monster story is very age appropriate, but doesn't scale up well. The longer story about Jim being a mall Santa, has a bit more meat on its bones, even if the ending goes full Hallmark Channel. I'm honestly not sure why I grabbed this; it wasn't bad, but it reminded me that Garfield hasn't been my thing for decades. Your mileage may vary. -
I have loved Garfield my whole life, and this was an adorable yet funny set of stories for the holiday season.

THIS was just horrible and pretty much a complete waste of time. The first story is cute, but you can tell someone else is both drawing Garfield and writing the dialogue. Still, it wasn't too bad. The second story is a complete sacrilege and should be struck from the Garfield canon. W T H was that even about? Horrible and unreadable. The best part of the whole book is the very last page [and not because it is the end] which is old Jim Davis cartoons and it is just a relief to see the Garfield we all know and love - it makes the first two stories even more horrible. I highly suggest that you avoid this like the plague. UGH.

The first story was ok but I didn’t care for the second one at all. I do not care for the lasagna monster. I think it’s a ridiculous addition to the Garfield comics that really take away from Garfield as a whole and the characters always look really weird in the lasagna monster stories. The first story at least was a little heart warming and happy but it still wasn’t a great story. Overall I was not thrilled with this book and I do not recommend it.

A very random Christmas read. I love Garfield so I thought of giving this a try. There is good dose of Christmas spirit but it is requires a dash of humor. More of pulled out old Christmas strips could have done that and could have created a balance. This was too short to be rated, should have been meaty.

Story number one - young girl loses her dog, wishes her parents would get back together. Dog is found, parents get back together.
Story number two - a really odd story of a lasagna monster come to life, that ends with Garfield stuck in an alternate dimension.
The book ends with a few brief holiday shorts, which I liked better than the longer ones. -
This was my son's first exposure to Garfield. He was a big fan. He especially loved Odie. He's not wrong, Odie is pretty great. My 6 year old son would give this 5 stars. I'd give it 2, so we will settle on 3 stars. That said, I think my son is hooked on Garfield now..

I came across Garfield's very entertaining comic again. In this volume we see the Christmas-time hopes and the classic Garfield hunger. It was short, again a warming comic. I always enjoy watching and reading Garfield. If he's a character you like, I highly recommend reading it.

This was just a fun short Christmas book. Nothing serious, just a nice book to read on a cold winter day.
